1Focal adhesion protein Kindlin-2 regulates bone homeostasis in mice显示文摘Our recent studies demonstrate that the focal adhesion protein Kindlin-2 is critical for chondrogenesis and early skeletal development. Here, we show that deleting Kindlin-2 from osteoblasts using the 2.3-kb mouse Col1 a1-Cre transgene minimally impacts bone mass in mice, but deleting Kindlin-2 using the 10-kb mouse Dmp1-Cre transgene, which targets osteocytes and mature osteoblasts, results in striking osteopenia in mice. Kindlin-2 loss reduces the osteoblastic population but increases the osteoclastic and adipocytic populations in the bone microenvironment. Kindlin-2 loss upregulates sclerostin in osteocytes,downregulates β-catenin in osteoblasts, and inhibits osteoblast formation and differentiation in vitro and in vivo. Upregulation ofβ-catenin in the mutant cells reverses the osteopenia induced by Kindlin-2 deficiency. Kindlin-2 loss additionally increases the expression of RANKL in osteocytes and increases osteoclast formation and bone resorption. Kindlin-2 deletion in osteocytes promotes osteoclast formation in osteocyte/bone marrow monocyte cocultures, which is significantly blocked by an anti-RANKLneutralizing antibody. 3Occupational exposure to heavy metals, alcohol intake, and risk of type 2 diabetes and prediabetes among Chinese male workers显示文摘Objective: Both exposure to heavy metals and alcohol intake have been related to the risk of type 2 diabetes (T2D). In this study, we aimed to assess the potential interactions between metal exposure and alcohol intake on the risk of T2D and prediabetes in a cohort of Chinese male workers. Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional analysis of 26,008 Chinese male workers in an occupational cohort study from 2011 to 2013. We assessed metal exposure and alcohol consumption at baseline in these workers who were aged ≥20 years. Based on occupations which were categorized according to measured urine metal levels, multiple logistic regression analyses were used to evaluate the independent and joint effects of metal and alcohol exposure on the risk of T2D and prediabetes. Results: Risks of T2D (Ptrend= 0.0 0 1 ) and prediabetes (Ptrend = 0.001) were significantly elevated with increasing number of standard drinks per week, years of drinking, and lifetime alcohol consumption. An adjusted odds ratio (OR) of 6.1 (95% confidence interval [CI]: 4.8-7.8) was observed for the smelting/refining workers (highest metal exposure levels) who had the highest lifetime alcohol consumption (>873 kg)(Pinteraction = 0.018), whereas no statistically significant joint effect was found for prediabetes (Pinteraction =0.515). Conclusions: Both exposures to metal and heavy alcohol intake were associated with the risk of diabetes in this large cohort of male workers. 4Genetic models of structural traps related to normal faults in the Putaohua Oilfield,Songliao Basin显示文摘The Putaohua Oilfi eld is a fault-prolifi c area and the faults have close relation with structural traps. The genetic models of the structural traps in the Putaohua Oilfi eld can be divided into two types: individual fault model and multi-fault interaction model. This is based on the description of displacement distribution of typical individual normal faults, the geometry of the footwall and hanging wall, and the analysis of the interaction between faults and the corresponding change in geometry when the faults grow. The individual fault model is that the displacement reaches a maximum at or near the center of fault and decreases toward the fault tips, so a half-graben is formed on the hanging wall of the fault and a half-anticline is formed on the footwall because of the isostatic process. The multi-fault interaction model is that during the growth of faults, they overlap and interact with each other, and accommodation zones are formed in the overlapping segments. The accommodation zones are favorable targets for hydrocarbon exploration, and the trap characteristics are dependent on the extent of overlap and occurrence of faults. The multi-fault interaction model can be subdivided into three types: synthetic accommodation zone, convergent accommodation zone and divergent accommodation zone. Hydrocarbon migration and accumulation models of each type have been developed. 5Development and characterization of novel microsatellite markers for the Common Pheasant(Phasianus colchicus)using RAD-seq显示文摘Background: The Common Pheasant(Phasianus colchicus) Linnaeus, 1758 is the most widespread pheasant in the world and widely introduced as a game bird. Increasing needs for conservation genetics and management of both wild and captive populations require permanent genetic resources, such as polymorphic microsatellites in order to genotype individuals and populations.Methods: In this study, 7598 novel polymorphic microsatellites for the Common Pheasant were isolated using a RAD-seq approach at an Illumina high-throughput sequencing platform. A panel of ten novel microsatellites and three existing ones from the chicken genome were multiplexed and genotyped on a set of 90 individuals of Common Pheasants(representing nine subspecies and ten individuals each) and 10 individuals of the Green Pheasant(P. versicolor).Results: These 13 microsatellites exhibited moderate to high levels of polymorphism, with the number of alleles per locus ranging from 2 to 8 and expected heterozygosities from 0.049 to 0.905. The first analysis of the genetic structure of subspecies/populations using a Bayesian clustering approach, implemented in STRUCTURE, showed two genetic clusters, corresponding to both the Green and the Common Pheasant, with further evidence of subpopulation structuring within the Common Pheasants.Conclusion: These markers are useful genetic tools for sustainable uses and evolutionary studies in these two Phasianus pheasants and probably other closely related game birds.Biao Wang Xuan Xie Simin Liu Xuejing Wang Hong Pang Yang Liu 2017Chinese Birds2017,,1:3
6Cucurbit[10]uril-based chemistry显示文摘Cucurbit[n]urils(CB[n]s,n = 5-8,10,13-15) have been proven to be an interesting macrocyclic family with their distinctive molecular recognition properties and fascinating applications in fields such as catalysis,supramolecular materials, drug delivery and biological systems. With the biggest cavity in the CB[n]s family, CB[10] shows its unique molecular recognition properties that are rather distinctive from other CB[n]s. In this review, we summarize the progresses in CB[10]-based chemistry since CB[10] was first reported as CB[10] CB[5] complex in 2001. 7Dissolution-precipitation growth of uniform and clean two dimensional transition metal dichalcogenides显示文摘Two dimensional transition metal dichalcogenides(TMDCs)have attracted much interest and shown promise in many applications.However,it is challenging to obtain uniform TMDCs with clean surfaces,because of the difficulties in controlling the way the reactants are supplied to the reaction in the current chemical vapor deposition growth process.Here,we report a new growth approach called’dissolution-precipitation’(DP)growth,where the metal sources are sealed inside glass substrates to control their feeding to the reaction.Noteworthy,the diffusion of metal source inside glass to its surface provides a uniform metal source on the glass surface,and restricts the TMDC growth to only a surface reaction while eliminating unwanted gas-phase reaction.This feature gives rise to highly uniform monolayer TMDCs with a clean surface on centimeter-scale substrates.The DP growth works well for a large variety of TMDCs and their alloys,providing a solid foundation for the controlled growth of clean TMDCs by the fine control of the metal source.Zhengyang Cai Yongjue Lai Shilong Zhao Rongjie Zhang Junyang Tan Simin Feng Jingyun Zou Lei Tang Junhao Lin Bilu Liu Hui-Ming Cheng 2021National Science Review2021,8,3:2
8N,P,and K characteristics of different age groups of temperate coniferous tree species in northwestern China显示文摘This study chose dominant tree species including Picea crassifolia,Pinus armandii and Pinus tabuliformis which are distributed in Qilian Mountains,Xiaolongshan Mountains,and Bailongjiang River.According to the different tree species,ages and components,we sampled leaves,branches,stems,and roots,and measured the contents of Nitrogen,Phosphorus,Potassium,along with soil fertility.The changes of N,P,and K contents in the different tree species were studied,and the relationship between nutrient content and environmental factors was analyzed.The results indicated that the content of P in all three species was the lowest(0.039–0.28 g kg^(-1)),while N content was the highest(0.095–1.72 g kg^(-1)).As the terminal organ of nutrient transport,the nutrient content of leaves was the highest.P.armandii(0.45 g kg^(-1)) had a higher nutrient concentration than P.tabulaeformis(0.19 g kg^(-1)) and P.crassifolia(0.29 g kg^(-1)).The nutrient content of each species was highest in a young forest,but lowest in a mature forest.The nutrient content of all three tree species was significantly affected by soil nutrient content,and negatively correlated with available soil nutrients.Simin Liu Hao Wang 2018Journal of Forestry Research2018,29,2:2
9Experimental demonstration of λ/8 DFB semiconductor laser array for 1.3 μm CWDM system显示文摘In this article,we report the first experimental demonstration of an eight-wavelength λ/8 phased-shifted laser array based on the REC technique in the 1.3 μm wavelength domain.Measurement results exhibit good linearity of lasing wavelength with+/-0.35 nm wavelength residual.The SLM property was ensured with SMSRs all larger than 38 dB.Moreover,the directmodulation performance was also tested.The experimental results show that the modulation bandwidth can reach up to 13GHz even at the small injection current of 40 mA and the measured spurious-free dynamic range(SFDR)is up to 87 dB/Hz2/3,which shows good linearity.These measurements show that REC-based λ/8 phased-shifted laser array has good modulation performance and it may find potential application in actual fiber-optic systems.LU LinLin HUANG Long SHI YueChun GUO RenJia LIU Rui LI LianYan LI SiMin CHEN XiangFei 2014Science China(Technological Sciences)2014,57,9:2

16Construction of Photoresponsive 3D Structures Based on Triphenylethylene Photochromic Building Blocks显示文摘Photoresponsive materials have been widely used in sensing,bioimaging,molecular switches,information storage,and encryption nowadays.Although a large amount of photoresponsive materials have been reported,the construction of these smart materials into precisely prescribed complex 3D geometries is rarely studied.Here we designed a novel photoresponsive material methyl methacrylate containing triphenylethylene(TrPEF_(2)-MA)that can be directly used for digital light processing(DLP)3D printing.Based on TrPEF_(2)-MA,a series of photoresponsive 3D structures with reversible color switching under ultraviolet/visible light irradiations were fabricated.These complex photoresponsive 3D structures show high resolutions(50μm),excellent repeatability(25 cycles without fatigue),and tunable saturate color degrees.Multicomponent DLP 3D printing processes were also carried out to demonstrate their great properties in information hiding and information-carrying properties.This design strategy for constructing photoresponsive 3D structures is attractive in the area of adaptive camouflage,information hiding,information storage,and flexible electronics.Xiayu Zhang Fukang Liu Beibei Du Rongjuan Huang Simin Zhang Yunfei He Hailan Wang Jingjing Cui Biao Zhang Tao Yu Wei Huang 2022Research2022,,4:1

19A continuous simulation of Holocene effective moisture change represented by variability of virtual lake level in East and Central Asia显示文摘The fluctuation of a single lake level is a comprehensive reflection of water balance within the basin, while the regional consistent fluctuations of lake level can indicate the change of regional effective moisture. Previous researches were mainly focused on reconstructing effective moisture by multiproxy analyses of lake sediments. We carried out a series of experiments, including a transient climate evolution model, a lake energy balance model and a lake water balance model to simulate continuous Holocene effective moisture change represented by variability of virtual lake level in East and Central Asia.The virtual lake level, area, water depth and salinity are not equivalent to actual values, but we estimated relative changes of the regional effective moisture. We also explored the driving mechanisms of effective moisture change in different geographical regions. Our results indicated that gradually falling effective moisture during the Holocene in northern China was due to the combined effects of high lake evaporation caused by longwave and shortwave radiation, and low precipitation caused by reductions of summer solar insolation. A decline in effective moisture through the Holocene in the Tibetan Plateau and southern Central Asia resulted from decreased precipitation because of the weakening of the Asian summer monsoon.
