1Famitinib in combination with concurrent chemoradiotherapy in patients with locoregionally advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma: a phase 1, open-label, dose-escalation Study显示文摘Background:Famitinib is a tyrosine kinase inhibitor against multiple targets,including vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 2/3,platelet-derived growth factor receptor,and stem cell factor receptor(c-kit).Previous studies have demonstrated anti-tumour activities of famitinib against a wide variety of advanced-stage solid cancers.We aimed to determine the safety and efficacy of famitinib with concurrent chemoradiotherapy(CCRT)in patients with locoregionally advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma(NPC).We also evaluated the feasibility of contrast-enhanced ultrasound(D-CEUS)as a predictor of early tumour response to famitinib and to correlate functional parameters with clinical efficacy.Methods:The trial was conducted in subjects with stage III or IVa-b NPC using a 3+3 design of escalating fami-tinib doses.Briefly,subjects received 2 weeks of famitinib monotherapy followed by 7 weeks of famitinib plus CCRT.D-CEUS of the neck lymph nodes was performed at day 0,8 and 15 after famitinib was administered before starting concurrent chemoradiotherapy.End points included safety,tolerability and anti-tumour activity.Results:Twenty patients were enrolled(six each for 12.5,16.5 and 20 mg and two for 25 mg).Two patients in the 25 mg cohort developed dose-limiting toxicities,including grade 4 thrombocytopenia and grade 3 hypertension.The most common grade 3/4 adverse events were leukopenia,neutropenia and radiation mucositis.D-CEUS tests showed that more than 60%of patients achieved a perfusion parameter response after 2 weeks taking famitinib alone,and the parameter response was associated with disease improvement.In the famitinib monotherapy stage,three patients(15%)showed partial responses.The complete response rate was 65%at the completion of treatment and 95%3 months after the treatment ended.After a median follow-up of 44 months,the 3-year progression-free survival(PFS)and distant metastasis-free survival were 70%and 75%,respectively.Subjects with a decrease of perfusion parameter response,such as peak intensity decreased at least 30%after 1 week of famitinib treatment,had higher 3-year PFS(90.9%vs.44.4%,95%CI 73.7%-100%vs.11.9%-76.9%,P<0.001)than those with an increase or a reduction of less than 30%.Conclusions:The recommended famitinib dose for phase II trial is 20 mg with CCRT for patients with local advanced NPC.D-CEUS is a reliable and early measure of efficacy for famitinib therapies.Further investigation is required to confirm the effects of famitinib plus chemoradiotherapy.Qiuyan Chen Linquan Tang Na Liu Feng Han Ling Guo Shanshan Guo Jianwei Wang Huai Liu Yanfang Ye Lu Zhang Liting Liu Pan Wang Yingqin Li Qingmei He Xiaoqun Yang Qingnan Tang Yang Li YuJing Liang XueSong Sun Chuanmiao Xie Yunxian Mo Ying Guo Rui Sun Haoyuan Mo Kajia Cao Xiang Guo Musheng Zeng Haiqiang Mai Jun Ma 2018Cancer Communications2018,38,1:6

3Understanding the role of interface in advanced semiconductor nanostructure and its interplay with wave function overlap显示文摘As the proportion of interfaces increases rapidly in nanomaterials,properties and quality of interfaces hugely impact the performance of advanced semiconductors.Here,the effect of interfaces is explored by comparatively studying two InAs/AlSb superlattices with and without the thin InAsSb layers inserted inside each InAs layers.Through strain mapping,it indicates that the addition of interfaces leads to an increase of local strain both near interfaces and inside layers.Meantime,owing to the creation of hole potential wells within the original electron wells,the charge distribution undergoes an extra electron-hole alternating arrangement in the structure with inserted layers than the uninserted counterpart.Such a feature is verified to enhance electron-hole wave function overlap by theoretical simulations,which is a must for better optical performance.Furthermore,with an elaborate design of the inserted layers,the wave function overlap could be boosted without sacrificing other key device performances.Chenyuan Cai Yunhao Zhao Faran Chang Xuebing Zhao Liting Yang Chongyun Liang Guowei Wang Zhichuan Niu Yi Shi Xianhu Liu Yuesheng Li Renchao Che 2020Nano Research2020,13,6:1
4Auricular vagus nerve acupressure for patients with emotional distress under the COVID-19 pandemic:A smartphone-based,randomized controlled trial显示文摘Objective: To confirm whether self-administered AVNA treatment is effective in improving emotional distressunder the COVID-19 pandemic.Methods: A smartphone-based online, randomized, controlled trial was designed from 26 February 2020 to 28April 2020 in four study sites, including Wuhan, Beijing, Shenyang, and Guangzhou of China. Local residentswho had considerable emotional distress with a score of the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS) ≥9 were recruited. Participants were randomly assigned to three times of AVNA (n = 191) per day, in morning,around noon, and in evening or usual care (UC, n = 215) once daily for 14 days. The primary outcome was theresponse rate, which was the proportion of participants whose Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS)score reduced from baseline by ≥ 50%. The assessment was conducted at baseline, 3 days, and 14 days.Results: The AVNA group had a markedly higher response rate than the UC group at 3 days (35.6% vs. 24.9%,P = 0.02) and at 14 days (70.7% vs. 60.6%, P = 0.02). The AVNA group showed significantly greater reductionin scores of HADS at the two measurement points and BAI at 3 days (P ≤ 0.03), with average respective effectsize of 0.217 and 0.195. Participants with AVNA spent less time falling asleep and rated their sleep qualitybeing remarkably higher than those with UC at endpoint.Conclusion: During COVID-19 pandemic period, treatment with self-administrated AVNA was more effectivethan UC in reducing emotional distress of isolated populations. 5First detection of cutavirus DNA in stools of patients with rheumatic diseases in Guangzhou,China显示文摘Cutavirus(CuV)is a novel protoparvovirus possibly associated with diarrhea and cutaneous T-cell lymphomas.Patients with rheumatic disease are immunosuppressed and may be more vulnerable to pathogenic viruses.A descriptive study was conducted among hospitalized patients with rheumatic diseases and individuals undergoing medical health check-ups between June 2019 and June 2022 in Guangzhou,China.Stool samples of subjects were tested for CuV DNA.Demographic and fecal examination data of patients were obtained from electronic medical records.A total of 505 patients with rheumatic diseases and 244 individuals who underwent medical health check-ups were included in the study.Of the patients with rheumatic disease,5.74%[95%confidence interval(CI):4.03%–8.12%]were positive for CuV DNA,while no individual in the medical health check-up group was positive,indicating a close correlation between CuV and rheumatic disease.Men and patients with rheumatoid arthritis or ankylosing spondylitis,according to the disease classification,were more susceptible to being infected with CuV(P<0.01).After adjustments,being male remained the only significant factor,with an adjusted odd ratio(OR)of 4.4(95%CI:1.7–11.4,P?0.002).Phylogenetic analysis of the CuV VP2 sequences showed three diverse clades,one of which was segregated to be a single branching independent of previously known sequences,which is possible a new genotype.Yongzhi Li Liting Zheng Huan He Husheng Xiong Jiaqi Chen Hengbiao Sun Caiyun Chen Qiushuang Li Jiaqi Fu Fei Wu Yuhan Gao Juxian Xian Minyi Liang Gang Xiao Qing Chen 2023Virologica Sinica2023,38,6:0
6Heavy atom-free triplet photosensitizer based on thermally activated delayed fluorescence material for NIR-to-blue triplet-triplet annihilation upconversion显示文摘Triplet-triplet annihilation(TTA) upconversion-based materials have potential application in the broad range of research areas, including photocatalysis and life sciences. However, near-infrared(NIR)-to-blue upconverted emission is preferred for most of the practical applications, but developing a NIR-to-blue TTA upconversion system is a challenging task in photochemistry. In this work, a thermally activated delayed fluorescence(TADF) material with intense visible-to-NIR absorption is demonstrated that shows a longer triplet state lifetime(32 μs) and high triplet state energy(E_(T)= 1.55 e V). For the first time, a heavy atomfree NIR(λ_(ex)> 650 nm) to blue(λ_(em)< 460 nm) TTA upconversion system was devised, employing the dimeric borondifluoride curcuminoid TADF material as triplet photosensitizer(PS) and a large anti-Stokes shift(0.88 e V) along with moderate upconversion yield was achieved. 7Antioxidant,flavor profile and quality of wheat dough bread incorporated with kiwifruit fermented byβ-glucosidase producing lactic acid bacteria strains显示文摘This study aimed to investigate the effect of incorporation of kiwifruit substrate fermented by 3 highβ-glucosidase producing lactic acid bacteria(LAB)of Lactobacillus harbinensis(M12,M24)and Pediococcus pentosaceus(J28)on physicochemical and rheo-fermentation properties during proofing of wheat dough.Quality,sensory evaluation,antioxidant content and activity,and flavor profiles of bread was evaluated.Results revealed that LAB strains adequately adapted(J28>M12>M24)and produced enzymes during substrate fermentation.In dough,incorporation of fermented substrate increased acidity,soluble dietary fiber,β-glucosidase andα-amylase activity and gas retention during proofing,in a strain dependent manner(J28>M12>M24).The subsequent breads exhibited higher specific volume and had softer crumbs.Furthermore,total flavonoid,total phenolic,antioxidant activity,flavor content and intensity increased in breads incorporated with fermented substrate.Overall sensory acceptance was in order,bread containing substrates fermented by J28(KFB-J28)>M12(KFB-M12)>M24(KFB-M24)>wheat bread(WB)>bread containing unfermented substrate(KFB).Changes observed were attributed to biotransformation byβ-glucosidase which increasingly degraded dietary fibers into soluble dietary fiber,increased acidity,released glycosylated aroma compounds and phenolic compounds in substrate.When incorporated in dough,fermented kiwifruit substrates stabilized gluten network,increased yeast metabolism and gas retention during proofing.Subsequently,KFB-J28,KFB-M12,and KFB-M24 had higher antioxidant content and activity,higher flavor content and intensity,better quality and were more accepted compared to WB and KFB.This suggested the potential role played byβ-glucosidases through LAB fermentation on functionally enriching and adding value to kiwifruit substrate as a novel functional ingredient in bakery industry.Liting Liang Jacob Ojobi Omedi Weining Huang Jianxian Zheng Yongqing Zeng Jing Huang Binle Zhang Liyuan Zhou Ning Li Tiecheng Gao Ruijun Guo 2022Food Bioscience2022,46,2:0

9Establishment of a prognostic scoring model for regional recurrent nasopharyngeal carcinoma after neck dissection显示文摘Objective:The main aim of this study was to establish a scoring model to predict risk of progression and survival in patients with regionally recurrent nasopharyngeal carcinoma(NPC).Methods:Three hundred and forty-eight patients subjected to neck dissection from 2003 to 2017 were included for study.Clinicopathologic information for each patient was analyzed.Independent prognostic factors were selected using the Cox proportional hazards model and incorporated into the scoring model.Concordance index(C-index)and calibration curves were used to verify discrimination and calibration,respectively and the results validated using bootstrap resampling.Results:Microscopic positive lymph node>2[hazard ratio(HR),2.19;95%confidence interval(CI),1.30–3.68;P=0.003],extranodal extension(HR,2.75;95%CI,1.69–4.47;P<0.001),and lower neck involvement(HR,1.78;95%CI,1.04–3.04;P=0.034)were identified from multivariate analysis as independent factors for overall survival(OS).A qualitative 4-point scale was generated to stratify patients into 4 risk groups for predicting OS and progression-free survival(PFS).The novel scoring model demonstrated enhanced discrimination(C-index=0.69;95%CI,0.62–0.76)relative to the original recurrent tumor-node-metastasis(rTNM)staging system(C-index=0.56;95%CI,0.50–0.62),and was internally validated with a bootstrap-adjusted C-index of 0.70.The calibration curve showed good agreement between predicted probabilities and actual observations.Conclusions:The scoring system established in this study based on a large regionally recurrent NPC cohort fills a gap regarding assessment of risk and prediction of survival outcomes after neck dissection in this population and could be further applied to identify high-risk patients who may benefit from more aggressive intervention.Xiaoyun Li Chao Lin Jinjie Yan Qiuyan Chen Xuesong Sun Sailan Liu Shanshan Guo Liting Liu Haojun Xie Qingnan Tang Yujing Liang Ling Guo Hao Li Xuekui Liu Xiang Guo Linquan Tang Haiqiang Mai 2020Cancer Biology & Medicine2020,17,1:0

11Enhanced visible-light photocatalytic hydrogen evolution using two-dimensional carbon nitride sheets with the removal of amine groups显示文摘Two-dimensional(2D)carbon nitride sheets(CNs)with atomically thin structures are regarded as one of the most promising materials for solar energy conversion.However,due to their substantially enlarged bandgap caused by the strong quantum size effect and their incomplete polymerisation with a large number of non-condensed surface amino groups,the practical applicability of CNs in photocatalysis is limited.In this study,CNs with broad visible-light absorption were synthesised using a 5-min fast thermal annealing.The removal of uncondensed amine groups reduces the bandgap of CNs from 3.06 eV to 2.60 eV,increasing their absorption of visible light.Interestingly,the CNs were distorted after annealing,which can differentiate the spatial positions of electrons and holes,enhancing the visible-light absorption efficiency.As a result,when exposed to visible light,the photocatalytic hydrogen production activity of atomically thin 2D CNs rose by 8.38 times.This research presents a dependable and speedy method for creating highly effective visible-light photocatalysts with narrowed bandgaps and improved visible-light absorption.Yu Zhang Liting Wu Shaopeng Wang Dingyi Yang Huan Liang Yizhang Wu Jian Hao Youqing Wang Jianke Liu Yong Wang 2024Chinese Chemical Letters2024,35,2:0

13Collagen triple helix repeat containing-1 promotes functional recovery of sweat glands by inducing adjacent microvascular network reconstruction in vivo显示文摘Background:Sweat glands(SGs)have low regenerative potential after severe burns or trauma and their regeneration or functional recovery still faces many obstacles.In practice,restoring SG function requires not only the structural integrity of the gland itself,but also its neighboring tissues,especially blood vessels.Collagen triple helix repeat containing-1(CTHRC1)was first identified in vascular repair,and increasing reports showed a close correlation between cutaneous appendage specification,patterning and regeneration.The purpose of the present study was to clarify the role of CTHRC1 in SGs and their adjacent microvessels and find therapeutic strategies to restore SG function.Methods:The SGs and their adjacent microvascular network of Cthrc^(1−/−)mice were first inves-tigated using sweat test,laser Doppler imaging,tissue clearing technique and transcriptome analysis.The effects of CTHRC1 on dermal microvascular endothelial cells(DMECs)were further explored with cell proliferation,DiI-labeled acetylated low-density lipoprotein uptake,tube for-mation and intercellular junction establishment assays.The effects of CTHRC1 on SG function restoration were finally confirmed by replenishing the protein into the paws of Cthrc(1−/−)mice.Results:CTHRC1 is a key regulator of SG function in mice.At the tissue level,Cthrc1 deletion resulted in the disorder and reduction of the microvascular network around SGs.At the molecular level,the knockout of Cthrc1 reduced the expression of vascular development genes and functional proteins in the dermal tissues.Furthermore,CTHRC1 administration considerably enhanced SG function by inducing adjacent vascular network reconstruction.Conclusions:CTHRC1 promotes the development,morphogenesis and function execution of SGs and their neighboring vasculature.Our study provides a novel target for the restoration or regeneration of SG function in vivo.Xingyu Yuan Xianlan Duan Zhao Li Bin Yao Enhejirigala Wei Song Yi Kong Yuzhen Wang Fanliang Zhang Liting Liang Shijun Zhu Mengde Zhang Chao Zhang Sha Huang Xiaobing Fu 2022Burns & Trauma2022,10,1:0
14Combined inhibition of Notch and FLT3 produces synergistic cytotoxic effects in FLT3/ITD^(+)acute myeloid leukemia显示文摘Internal tandem duplication(ITD)mutations of FMS-like tyrosine kinase-3(FLT3)are the most frequent genetic alterations in acute myeloid leukemia(AML)and predict a poor prognosis.FLT3 tyrosine kinase inhibitors(TKIs)provide short-term clinical responses,but the long-term prognosis of FLT3/ITD^(+)AML patients remains poor.Notch signaling is important in numerous types of tumors.However,the role of Notch signaling in FLT3/ITD^(+)AML remains to be elucidated.In the current study,we found that Notch signaling was activated upon FLT3-TKI treatment in FLT3/ITD^(+)cell lines and primary cells.As Notch signaling can be blocked byγ-secretase inhibitors(GSIs),we examined the combinatorial antitumor efficacy of FLT3-TKIs and GSIs against FLT3/ITD^(+)AML and explored the underlying molecular mechanisms.As a result,we observed synergistic cytotoxic effects,and the treatment preferentially reduced cell proliferation and induced apoptosis in FLT3/ITD^(+)AML cell lines and in primary AML cells.Furthermore,the combination of FLT3-TKI and GSI eradicated leukemic cells and prolonged survival in an FLT3/ITD^(+)patient-derived xenograft AML model.Mechanistically,differential expression analysis suggested that CXCR3 may be partially responsible for the observed synergy,possibly through ERK signaling.Our findings suggest that combined therapies of FLT3-TKIs with GSI may be exploited as a potential therapeutic strategy to treat FLT3/ITD^(+)AML.Dan Li Tongjuan Li Zhen Shang Lei Zhao Qian Xu Jiaqi Tan Yun Qin Yuanyuan Zhang Yang Cao Na Wang Liang Huang Xiaojian Zhu Kuangguo Zhou Liting Chen Chunrui Li Ting Xie Yi Yang Jue Wang Jianfeng Zhou 2020Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2020,5,1:0
