Sonication-assisted dispersion of carbon nanotubes in aqueous solutions of the anionic surfactant SDBS:The role of sonication energy显示文摘Sonication is a powerful technique to promote the dispersion of carbon nanotubes(CNTs) and enhance their solubility;this is necessary for CNT applications, especially in the biochemical and biomedical fields. In this study, batch experiments were conducted to evaluate the role of sonication energy on the dispersion of CNTs in the presence of a widely used anionic surfactant, sodium dodecylbenzene sulfonate(SDBS).It was observed that the concentration of dispersed CNTs in the SDBS solution depended on the sonication energy, but not the sonication time or output power of the sonicator alone. The amount of dispersed CNTs was positively correlated with the concentrations of SDBS and CNTs,and the length of the CNTs.The promotion of oxygen-containing functional groups on the dispersed CNTs was observed at relatively low sonication energies. The optimal energy,i.e.the minimum energy supplied by sonication to achieve a saturated suspension of dispersed CNTs in the SDBS solution, was CNT diameter-dependent,because of the larger vdW forces between tubes of smaller diameter. An exponential decay curve was constructed for the optimal energy values as a function of the outer CNT diameter,to assist in determining the energy needed to disperse CNTs. | YANG Kun YI ZiLi JING QingFeng YUE RenLiang JIANG Wei LIN DaoHui | 2013 | Chinese Science Bulletin2013,58,18: | 5

Overexpression of Sirt6 ameliorates sleep deprivation induced-cognitive impairment by modulating glutamatergic neuron function显示文摘Sleep benefits the restoration of energy metabolism and thereby suppo rts neuronal plasticity and cognitive behaviors.Sirt6 is a NAD+-dependent protein deacetylase that has been recognized as an essential regulator of energy metabolism because it modulates various transcriptional regulators and metabolic enzymes. The aim of this study was to investigate the influence of Sirt6 on cerebral function after chronic sleep deprivation(CSD).We assigned C57BL/6J mice to control or two CSD groups and subjected them to AAV2/9-CMV-EGFP or AAV2/9-CMV-Sirt6-EGFP infection in the prelimbic cortex(PrL).We then assessed cerebral functional connectivity(FC) using resting-state functional MRI,neuron/astrocyte metabolism using a metabolic kinetics analysis;dendritic spine densities using sparse-labeling;and miniature excitato ry postsynaptic currents(mEPSCs) and action potential(AP) firing rates using whole-cell patchclamp recordings. In addition,we evaluated cognition via a comprehensive set of behavioral tests.Compared with controls,Sirt6 was significantly decreased(P<0.05) in the PrL after CSD,accompanied by cognitive deficits and decreased FC between the PrL and accumbens nucleus, piriform cortex, motor co rtex, somatosensory co rtex, olfactory tubercle, insular cortex, and cerebellum.Sirt6 ove rexpression reve rsed CSD-induced cognitive impairment and reduced FC.Our analysis of metabolic kinetics using [1-13C] glucose and [2-13C] acetate showed that CSD reduced neuronal Glu4and GABA2synthesis,which could be fully restored via forced Sirt6 expression.Furthermore,Sirt6 ove rexpression reversed CSD-induced decreases in AP firing rates as well as the frequency and amplitude of mEPSCs in PrL pyramidal neurons. These data indicate that Sirt6 can improve cognitive impairment after CSD by regulating the PrL-associated FC network, neuronal glucose metabolism, and glutamatergic neurotransmission.Thus,Sirt6 activation may have potential as a novel strategy for treating sleep disorder-related diseases. | Jinpiao Zhu Chang Chen Zhen Li Xiaodong Liu Jingang He Ziyue Zhao Mengying He Binbin Nie Zili Liu Yingying Chen Kuanpin Su Xiang Li Juxiang Chen Hongbing Xiang Fuqiang Xu Kangguang Lin Zongze Zhang Jie Wang | 2023 | Neural Regeneration Research2023,18,11: | 1

“Several birds with one stone”strategy of pH/thermoresponsive flame-retardant/photothermal bactericidal oil-absorbing material for recovering complex spilled oil显示文摘Although many material designs or strategic methods have been proposed for treating oil spills and oily wastewater, the complex oily state, dealing with the harsh operating conditions of oil–water separation(such as the recovery of viscous spilled crude oil,bacteria-containing oily wastewater, and removal of spilled oil under fire),and the autorecycling of oil and absorption materials remain a great challenge. This work proposed an ingenious design strategy of“several birds with one stone”to prepare p H/thermoresponsive flame-retardant/photothermal bactericidal P-Fe_(3)O_(4)-polydopamine(PDA)@melamine–formaldehyde(MF)foams.This design makes the foams remarkably effective in the recovery of spilled viscous crude oil as well as in the separation of bacteria-containing oily emulsions, particularly for instant fire extinguishing by magnetically controlled oil absorption as well as for fire alarms. The photothermal effect and p H response induce a change in the surface wettability of the foams, facilitating excellent autoadsorption/desorption of the spilled oil.The photothermal bactericidal activity and fouling resistance of the foam are beneficial to the separation of bacteria-containing oily wastewater.Outstanding flame-retardant properties and maneuverable magnetic control enable the foam to rapidly recover the spilled oil in a large range of fires, extinguish fires instantly, and facilitate early fire warning. The proposed strategy is expected to inspire further research on treating oil spills under complex conditions. | Ya Chen Jing Lin Gaber A.M.Mersal Jianliang Zuo Jialin Li Qiying Wang Yuhong Feng Jianwei Liu Zili Liu Bin Wang Ben Bin Xu Zhanhu Guo | 2022 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2022,,33: | 1

Ferromagnetism of Ni-Doped ZnO Powders Prepared by Sol-Gel Method above Room Temperature显示文摘The magnetic and structural properties of 2% Ni-doped ZnO powers prepared by sol-gel method were studied. X-ray diffraction (XRD) and high resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM) of the sample do not show existence of any signal of second phase. The X-photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) of the sample shows the chemical valence of Ni is +2 and the real Ni concentration is 2.19% determined by X-ray fluorescence spectra (XRFS). The magnetic property performed with superconducting quantum interference device (SQUID) shows that the sample exhibits ferromagnetism above room temperature and the Curie temperature (TC) is about 600 K. | Li Binbin Zhang Rong Xiu Xiangqian Tao Zhikuo Chen Lin Xie Zili Zheng Youdou Yu Huiqiang | 2006 | Journal of Rare Earths2006,24,z1: | 0
Osteopontin(OPN)alleviates the progression of osteoarthritis by promoting the anabolism of chondrocytes显示文摘Osteoarthritis(OA)is a chronic debilitating joint disease, characterized by degen-eration of the cartilage and loss of the cartilage matrix, and it is clinically manifested as joint pain.Osteopontin(OPN)is a glycoprotein that is abnormally expressed in the bone and carti-lage tissues and plays a vital role in various pathological processes such as the osteoarthritic inflammatory response and endochondral ossification. The focus of our study is to investigate the therapeutic potential and specific role of OPN in OA.Using morphological comparisons,we found that the cartilage was severely worn-out and there was a significant loss of the cartilage matrix in OA.OPN,CD44,and hyaluronic acid(HA)synthase 1(HAS1)were highly expressed, and the anabolism of HA was significantly higher in the OA chondrocytes than in the control chondrocytes.Additionally,we treated the OA chondrocytes with small interfering RNA(siRNA)targeting OPN,recombinant human OPN(rhOPN),and a combination of rhOPN and anti-CD44 antibodies.Furthermore,in vivo experiments were performed in mice.We found that OPN up-regulated the expression of downstream HAS1 and increased the anabolism of HA through CD44 protein expression in OA mice compared with those in control mice.Moreover,intra-articular injection of OPN in mice with OA significantly inhibited OA progression. In summary,OPN ini-tiates an intracellular cascade via CD44 which results in an anabolic increase in HA levels, thereby inhibiting OA progression. Therefore,OPN is a promising therapeutic agent in precision treatment of OA. | Wei Luo Zili Lin Yuhao Yuan Ziyi Wu Wei Zhong Qing Liu | 2023 | Genes & Diseases2023,10,4: | 0
Low-strain binary hexacyanoferrate nanocuboids with concentration-gradient structure towards fast and durable energy storage显示文摘The exploration of low-strain and high-performance electrode is a crucial issue for aqueous potassiumion battery(AKIB).Herein,a novel potassium mediated iron/manganese binary hexacyanoferrate nanocuboid,i.e.,K_(x)Fe_(y)Mn_(1-y)[Fe(CN)_(6)]·nH_(2)O(KFeMnHCF)nanocuboid,with the concentration-gradient(CG)structure is designed as a high-performance cathode for AKIB.Internal the CG-KFeMnHCF nanocuboids, the manganese content gradually decreases from the interior to the surface and the iron content changes reverse, resulting in the concentration-gradient structure. Both experimental and finite element simulation(FEA)results demonstrate the lower internal stress and better mechanical characteristics of CG structured nanocuboid than the homogenous structured one upon ion intercalation/deintercalation processes.Meanwhile, the electrochemical testing and theoretical calculation(DFT)results disclose the substitution of Fe to Mn in the KMnHCF crystal results in the enhanced electronic conductivity, potassium migration and electrochemical kinetics.Taken both advantages from the well-designed architecture and optimized crystal structure, the CG-KFeMnHCF achieves the superior rate capability and ultrahigh stability in aqueous potassium ion system. In particular, the CG-KFe_(0.31)Mn_(0.69)HCF achieves the best comprehensive properties among all the samples. The full AKIBs based on CG-KFe_(0.31)Mn_(0.69)HCF cathode achieves the high energy density(83 Wh kg^(-1)),superior power density, high capacity retention(83%)over high-rate long-term cycles, good adaptation to a wide temperature range(-20 to 40℃)and high reliability even under outside deformations. Therefore, this work not only provides a new clue to design the highperformance cathode, but also promotes the applications of AKIBs for diverse electronics and wide working environments. | Yutong Lin Bing Han Donglan Zhang Xueya Liu Zili Wang Zhengyu Wang Liang Si Sen Zhang Chao Deng | 2022 | Journal of Energy Chemistry2022,31,11: | 0
NR5A2 connects zygotic genome activation to the first lineage segregation in totipotent embryos显示文摘Zygotic genome activation(ZGA)marks the beginning of the embryonic program for a totipotent embryo, which gives rise to the inner cell mass(ICM)where pluripotent epiblast arises, and extraembryonic trophectoderm. However, how ZGA is connected to the first lineage segregation in mammalian embryos remains elusive. Here,we investigated the role of nuclear receptor(NR)transcription factors(TFs),whose motifs are highly enriched and accessible from the 2-cell(2C)to 8-cell(8C)stages in mouse embryos. We found that NR5A2,an NR TF strongly induced upon ZGA,was required for this connection.Upon Nr5a2 knockdown or knockout, embryos developed beyond 2C normally with the zygotic genome largely activated.However,4–8C-specific gene activation was substantially impaired and Nr5a2-deficient embryos subsequently arrested at the morula stage.Genome-wide chromatin binding analysis showed that NR5A2-bound cis-regulatory elements in both 2C and 8C embryos are strongly enriched for B1 elements where its binding motif is embedded.NR5A2 was not required for the global opening of its binding sites in 2C embryos but was essential to the opening of its 8C-specific binding sites. These 8C-specific,but not 2C-specific,binding sites are enriched near genes involved in blastocyst and stem cell regulation, and are often bound by master pluripotency TFs in blastocysts and embryonic stem cells(ESCs).Importantly,NR5A2 regulated key pluripotency genes Nanog and Pou5f1/Oct4,and primitive endoderm regulatory genes including Gata6 among many early ICM genes,as well as key trophectoderm regulatory genes including Tead4 and Gata3 at the 8C stage.By contrast, master pluripotency TFs NANOG,SOX2,and OCT4 targeted both early and late ICM genes in mouse ESCs.Taken together, these data identify NR5A2 as a key regulator in totipotent embryos that bridges ZGA to the first lineage segregation during mouse early development. | Fangnong Lai Lijia Li Xiaoyu Hu Bofeng Liu Ziqi Zhu Ling Liu Qiang Fan Huabin Tian Kai Xu Xukun Lu Qing Li Kong Feng Lijuan Wang Zili Lin Hongyu Deng Jinsong Li Wei Xie | 2023 | Cell Research2023,33,12: | 0

Recent advances in polysaccharide-based hydrogels for synthesis and applications显示文摘Hydrogels are three-dimensional(3D)crosslinked hydrophilic polymer networks that have garnered tremendous interests in many fields, including water treatment, energy storage, and regenerative medicine. However, conventional synthetic polymer hydrogels have poor biocompatibility. In this context, polysaccharides,a class of renewable natural materials with biocompatible and biodegradable properties, have been utilized as building blocks to yield polysaccharide-based hydrogels through physical and/or chemical crosslinking of polysaccharides via a variety of monomers or ions. These polysaccharide-derived hydrogels exhibit peculiar physicochemical properties and excellent mechanical properties due to their unique structures and abundant functional groups. This review focuses on recent advances in synthesis and applications of polysaccharide-based hydrogels by capitalizing on a set of biocompatible and biodegradable polysaccharides(i.e.,cellulose,alginate,chitosan,and cyclodextrins[CDs]).First,we introduce the design and synthesis principles for crafting polysaccharide-based hydrogels.Second, polysaccharidebased hydrogels that are interconnected via various crosslinking strategies(e.g.,physical crosslinking, chemical crosslinking, and double networking)are summarized. In particular, the introduction of noncovalent and/or dynamic covalent interactions imparts polysaccharide-based hydrogels with a myriad of intriguing performances(e.g.,stimuli–response and self-recovery).Third,the diverse applications of polysaccharide-based hydrogels in self-healing,sensory,supercapacitor,battery,drug delivery, wound healing, tissues engineering, and bioimaging fields are discussed. Finally, the perspectives of polysaccharide-based hydrogels that promote their future design to enable new functions and applications are outlined. | Zili Li Zhiqun Lin | 2021 | Aggregate2021,2,2: | 0
