116 × 16 silicon Mach–Zehnder interferometer switch actuated with waveguide microheaters显示文摘We experimentally demonstrate a 16 × 16 reconfigurably nonblocking optical switch fabric using a Benes architecture. The switch fabric consists of 56 2 × 2 Mach–Zehnder interferometer based elementary switches, with each integrated with a pair of waveguide microheaters. The average on-chip insertion loss is ~5.2 dB for both of the 'all-cross' and the 'all-bar' states, with a loss variation of 1 dB over all routing paths. The cross talk for all switching states is better than -30 d B. The switching time of the switch element is about 22 μs. 24×4 nonblocking optical switch fabric based on cascaded multimode interferometers显示文摘We experimentally demonstrate a 4 × 4 nonblocking silicon thermo-optic(TO) switch fabric consisting of three stages of tunable generalized Mach–Zehnder interferometers. All 24 routing states for nonblocking switching are characterized. The device's footprint is 4.6 mm × 1.0 mm. Measurements show that the worst cross talk of all switching states is-7.2 dB. The on-chip insertion loss is in the range of 3.7–13.1 dB. 3Nonvolatile waveguide transmission tuning with electrically-driven ultra-small GST phase-change material显示文摘Low-power reconfigurable optical circuits are highly demanded to satisfy a variety of different applications. Conventional electro-optic and thermo-optic refractive index tuning methods in silicon photonics are not suitable for reconfiguration of optical circuits due to their high static power consumption and volatility. We propose and demonstrate a nonvolatile tuning method by utilizing the reversible phase change property of GST integrated on top of the silicon waveguide. The phase change is enabled by applying electrical pulses to the lm-sized GST active region in a sandwich structure. 4Efficacy and safety of chemotherapy combined with bevacizumab in Chinese patients with metastatic colorectal cancer:A prospective,multicenter,observational,non-interventional phaseⅣtrial显示文摘Objective:Bevacizumab has an important and evolving role in improving outcomes in patients with metastatic colorectal cancer(mCRC)worldwide and was approved in China in 2010.However,there are limited real-world data on the efficacy and safety of chemotherapy regimens combined with bevacizumab in Chinese patients with mCRC.This observational,phase IV trial study aimed to obtain more experience on the efficacy and safety of bevacizumab combined with chemotherapy in Chinese mCRC patients.Methods:Between September 2013 and November 2016,patients with histologically confirmed mCRC were enrolled in a prospective,multicenter,observational,non-interventional phase IV trial at 26 centers across China.Eligible patients received different chemotherapeutic regimens combined with bevacizumab.The efficacy and safety data in the intention-to-treat study population were analyzed.Results:A total of 611 patients were included in the efficacy analysis.The median overall survival and median progression-free survival was 18.00 and 10.05 months,respectively.The objective response rate was 21.00%and disease control rate was 89.40%.In subgroup analyses,the survival differences were observed according to metastatic status,duration of treatment and elevation in blood pressure.A total of 613 patients were evaluable for safety assessments.And 569(92.82%)patients reported at least one adverse event(AE),and 151(24.63%)experienced grade 3 or higher AEs.The incidence of bevacizumab-associated AEs of special interest was reported in 31(5.06%)patients with hypertension(n=12),abscesses and fistulae(n=7),bleeding(n=6),proteinuria(n=3),gastrointestinal perforation(n=2)and venous thrombotic events(n=1).Conclusions:This observational phase IV trial broadens our experience and knowledge of bevacizumab in the Chinese population and provides a good indication of its overall efficacy and safety.Bevacizumab in combination with chemotherapy offers clinical benefits to Chinese patients with mCRC and has an acceptable and manageable safety profile.Fenghua Wang Guanghai Dai Yanhong Deng Yong Tang Wei Wang Zuoxing Niu Feng Bi Liangjun Zhu Zengqing Guo Jin Yan Bing Hu Min Tao Shujun Yang Suzhan Zhang Lu Wen Ruihua Xu 2021Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2021,33,4:2

7Spatial and temporal patterns of the sensitivity of radial growth response by Picea schrenkiana to regional climate change in the Tianshan Mountains显示文摘Climate change significantly impacts forest ecosystems in arid and semi-arid regions.However,spatiotemporal patterns of climate-sensitive changes in individual tree growth under increased climate warming and precipitation in north-west China is unclear.The dendrochronological method was used to study climate response sensitivity of radial growth of Picea schrenkiana from 158 trees at six sites during 1990-2020.The results show that climate warming and increased precipitation significantly promoted the growth of trees.The response to temperature first increased,then decreased.However,the response to increased precipitation and the self-calibrating Palmer Drought Severity Index(scPDSI)increased significantly.In most areas of the Tianshan Mountains,the proportion of trees under increased precipitation and scPDSI positive response was relatively high.Over time,small-diameter trees were strongly affected by drought stress.It is predicted that under continuous warming and increased precipitation,trees in most areas of the Tianshan Mountains,especially those with small diameters,will be more affected by precipitation.Zhongtong Peng Yuandong Zhang Liangjun Zhu Mingming Guo Qingao Lu Kun Xu Hui Shao Qifeng Mo Shirong Liu 2023Journal of Forestry Research2023,34,6:1
8Microwave frequency upconversion employing a coupling-modulated ring resonator显示文摘We present a method to generate a frequency-doubled microwave signal by employing a coupling-modulated ring resonator. Critical coupling is achieved when the resonator intrinsic loss is perfectly balanced by the external coupling enabled by a Mach–Zehnder interferometer coupler. 9Continuous-variable quantum key distribution with on-chip light sources显示文摘Integrated quantum key distribution(QKD)systems based on photonic chips have high scalability and stability,and are promising for further construction of global quantum communications networks.On-chip quantum light sources are a critical component of a fully integrated QKD system;especially a continuous-variable QKD(CVQKD)system based on coherent detection,which has extremely high requirements for the light sources.Here,for what we believe is the first time,we designed and fabricated two on-chip tunable lasers for CV-QKD,and demonstrated a high-performance system based on these sources.Because of the high output power,fine tunability,and narrow linewidth,the involved on-chip lasers guarantee the accurate shot-noise-limited detection of quantum signals,center wavelength alignment of nonhomologous lasers,and suppression of untrusted excess noise.The system’s secret key rate can reach 0.75 Mb/s at a 50 km fiber distance,and the secure transmission distance can exceed 100 km.Our results mark a breakthrough toward building a fully integrated CV-QKD,and pave the way for a reliable and efficient terrestrial quantum-secure metropolitan area network.LANG LI TAO WANG XINHANG LI PENG HUANG YUYAO GUO LIANGJUN LU LINJIE ZHOU GUIHUA ZENG 2023Photonics Research2023,11,4:0
10Low temperature sensitivity on-chip Fouriertransform spectrometer based on dual-layer Si_(3)N_(4)spiral waveguides显示文摘On-chip Fourier-transform spectrometers(FTSs)based on Mach–Zehnder interferometer(MZI)arrays suffer from severe central wavelength and fringe contrast variation due to fabrication errors.Even though a calibration matrix can be employed to correctly retrieve the input spectra,environmental temperature variation greatly degrades the retrieving performance.In this paper,we devise a dual-layer Si_(3)N_(4) waveguide interferometer to reduce the temperature sensitivity.The beating of the even and odd supermodes in the dual-layer waveguide generates periodic intensity fluctuations in the spectrum.Since these two modes have similar modal profiles,their thermal sensitivity and propagation loss are relatively balanced,leading to a low temperature sensitivity and a high interference extinction ratio.We designed and fabricated a passive FTS based on a 32-channel dual-layer Si_(3)N_(4) waveguide array.Experimental results show that the temperature sensitivity is reduced to 10 pm/°C,which is almost half that of single-layer Si_(3)N_(4) MZI-based FTSs.With this chip,we accurately reconstructed various types of optical spectra,including single and two sparse laser lines,and broadband optical spectra.Our method can fit a wide wavelength range,which is a promising technology to improve the practical applications of on-chip FTSs.LIANGJUN LU HONGYI ZHANG XIN LI JIANPING CHEN LINJIE ZHOU 2023Photonics Research2023,11,4:0
11Divergent responses of Picea crassifolia Kom.in different forest patches to climate change in the northeastern Tibetan Plateau显示文摘Global climate changes have significantly affected tree growth and forest structures and functions in some arid and semi-arid regions,which are becoming warmer and wetter.Due to natural factors such as climate and terrain,some tree species may form different forest patches at the edges of their distribution areas.However,how forest patches of various sizes respond to climate change is unclear.In this study,we collected 203 tree cores from six different sizes of forest patches at the edge of the distribution area of Picea crassifolia Kom.in the northeast Tibetan Plateau.And we used the dendrochronology method to study the response of tree growth and resilience in different forest patches to climate change from 1961 to 2020.We simultaneously measured the contents of nonstructural carbohydrates(NSC),total nitrogen and total phosphorus of tree needles.Our results showed that the growth of trees in small-and medium-size forest patches(0.8–18.6 ha)has increased significantly.The early growing season(May–July)minimum temperature was the most important climate factor driving the growth of small-and medium-sized patch trees.The early growing season maximum temperature was the most important climate factor that inhibited the growth of trees in the largest patches(362.8 ha).The growth of individual trees in medium forest patches was better and the correlation with annual minimum temperature,maximum temperature,precipitation,actual evapotranspiration,and palmer drought severity index was stronger.The higher NSC content,stronger photosynthesis,and higher nitrogen utilization efficiency in leaves might be one of the reasons for the better growth of trees in moderate forest patches.In extreme drought years,as the forest patch area increased,the overall trend of tree growth resistance showed a unimodal pattern,with the highest at a forest patch area of 7.1 ha,while the overall trend of tree growth recovery was opposite.Therefore,we should strengthen the management of trees in large forest patches to cope with climate change.Zhongtong Peng Qifeng Mo Liangjun Zhu Qingao Lu Jiaqing Cai Mingming Guo Kun Xu Yuandong Zhang 2023Forest Ecosystems2023,10,6:0
12Ultra-low-loss multi-layer 8×8 microring optical switch显示文摘Microring-based optical switches are promising for wavelength-selective switching with the merits of compact size and low power consumption.However,the large insertion loss,the high fabrication,and the temperature sensitivity hinder the scalability of silicon microring optical switch fabrics.In this paper,we utilize a three-dimensional(3D)microring-based optical switch element(SE)on a multi-layer Si_(3)N_(4)-on-SOI platform to realize highperformance large-scale optical switch fabrics.The 3D microring-based SE consists of a Si∕Si_(3)N_(4) waveguide overpass crossing in the bottom and the top layers,and Si_(3)N_(4) dual-coupled microring resonators(MRRs)in the middle layer.The switch is calibration-free and has low insertion loss.With the 3D microring-based SEs,we implement an 8×8 crossbar optical switch fabric.As the resonance wavelengths of all SEs are well aligned,only one SE needs to be turned on in each routing path,which greatly reduces the complexity of the switch control.The optical transmission spectra show a box-like shape,with a passband width of~69 GHz and an average on-state loss of~0.37 dB.The chip has a record-low on-chip insertion loss of 0.52-2.66 dB.We also implement a non-duplicate polarization-diversity optical switch by using the bidirectional transmission characteristics of the crossbar architecture,which is highly favorable for practical applications.100 Gb/s dual-polarization quadrature-phase-shift-keying(DP-QPSK)signal is transmitted through the switch without significant degradation.To the best of our knowledge,this is the first time that 3D MRRs have been used to build highly scalable polarization-diversity optical switch fabrics.XIN LI WEI GAO LIANGJUN LU JIANPING CHEN LINJIE ZHOU 2023Photonics Research2023,11,5:0
13Effect and mechanism of ferulic acid inclusion complexes on tyramine production by Enterobacter hormaechei MW386398 in smoked horsemeat sausages显示文摘Ferulic acid inclusion complexes(FA-HP-β-CD)effects on tyramine accumulation and gene expression of Enterobacter hormaechei MW386398 in traditional smoked horsemeat sausages were studied.Reverse transcription-quantitative polymerase chain reaction(RT-qPCR)was used to identify the expression of tyrosine decarboxylase(TDC)clusters in the tyramine producing pathway.In addition,relevant parameters such as microbial growth,moisture content,pH,and tyramine accumulation in pure cultures and during fermentation of smoked horsemeat sausages were evaluated.Ferulic acid(FA)and FA-HP-β-CD inclusion complexes both significantly decreased tyramine accumulation,as well as significantly inhibited tyrosine decarboxylase(tdcA)and tyrosine/tyramine antiporter(tyrP)genes expression(p<0.05).Furthermore,FA and FA-HP-β-CD inclusion complexes both reduced the number of Enterobacteriaceae in smoked horsemeat sausages,but did not alter the main microbiota.However,FA-HP-β-CD inclusion complexes exhibited stronger ability in hindering TDC related gene expression,reducing tyramine accumulation and antibacterial properties.These results indicate that FA-HP-β-CD inclusion complexes are able to reduce tyramine accumulation in smoked horsemeat sausages by inhibiting Enterobacteriaceae growth and gene expression.Yali Huang Honghong Yu Shiling Lu Liangjun Zou Zonggui Tang Tao Zeng Juan Tang 2022Food Bioscience2022,46,2:0
