| 1 | An Investigation of Oxidative DNA Damage in Pharmacy Technicians Exposed to Antineoplastic Drugs in Two Chinese Hospitals Using The Urinary 8-OHdG Assay显示文摘Objective To investigate oxidative DNA damage in pharmacy technicians preparing antineoplastic drugs at the PIVAS (Pharmacy Intravenous Admixture Service) in two Chinese hospitals.Methods Urinary 8-OHdG served as a biomarker.5-Fluorouracil (5-FU) concentrations in air,masks and gloves were determined.The spill exposure of each PIVAS technician to antineoplastic drugs was investigated.Eighty subjects were divided into exposed group I,II,and control group I,II.Results 5-FU concentration ratios for gloves and masks in exposed group I were significantly higher than those in exposed group II (P<0.05 or P<0.01).The average urinary 8-OHdG concentrations in exposed group I,control group I,exposed group II,and control group II were 14.69±0.93,10.68±1.07,10.57±0.55,and 11.96±0.73 ng/mg Cr,respectively.Urinary 8-OHdG concentration in exposed group I was significantly higher than that in control group I or that in exposed group II (P<0.01).There was a significant correlation between urinary 8-OHdG concentrations and spill frequencies per technician (P<0.01).Conclusion There was detectable oxidative DNA damage in PIVAS technicians exposed to antineoplastic drugs.This oxidative DNA damage may be associated with their spill exposure experience and contamination of their personal protective equipment. | HUANG Yu Wen JIAN Le ZHANG Mei Bian ZHOU Quan YAN Xiao Feng HUA Xu Dong ZHOU Ying HE Ji Liang | 2012 | Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2012,25,1: | 30 |

| 5 | Western medication plus Traditional Chinese Medicine preparations in patients with chronic heart failure:a prospective,single-blind,randomized,controlled,and multicenter clinical trial显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To assess the efficacy and safety in patients with chronic heart failure(CHF) of Western medication plus Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM) preparations.METHODS: This prospective, single-blind, randomized, controlled, and multicenter clinical trial began on September 17, 2008, and was completed on June 25, 2011. A total of 340 inpatients, aged 40-79 years, with exacerbating CHF from 10 hospitals were enrolled and randomly allocated within 24 h of admission. The trial included three intervention periods. During hospitalization, the control group received western medication for CHF and the treatment group received Danhong injection with Shenfu injection or Shenmai injection. After discharge,all patients were treated with Qiliqiangxin capsules and Buyiqiangxin tablets or a placebo for 6 months. After the 6-month intervention, both groups received only continuous western medication. The primary endpoint was all-cause mortality.The efficacy assessments were as follows: B-type natriuretic peptide(BNP), Lee's HF score, the 6-minute walking test(6 MWT), left ventricular ejection fraction(LVEF), and the Minnesota Living with Heart Failure Questionnaire(MLHFQ). The safety assessments were as follows: blood and urine routine examination, hepatic and renal function, electrolytes in blood and adverse events.RESULTS: Compared with the control group, the treatment group showed a 30.99% reduction in all-cause mortality and an improved survival rate.The treatment group showed greater improvement in 6 MWT(P = 0.02) than the control group on discharge, after 12-month follow-up, there was a time-group interaction for MLHFQ(P = 0.03). Studies of the environmental fate and human health effects of arsenic require authentic arsenic compounds. We summarize here the synthesis and characterization of more than a dozen methylated and thiolated arsenic compounds that are not commercially available. | 8 | A phase I study of different doses and frequencies of pegylated recombinant human granulocyte-colony stimulating factor(PEG rhG-CSF) in patients with standard-dose chemotherapy-induced neutropenia显示文摘Objective: The recommended dose of prophylactic pegylated recombinant human granulocyte-colony stimulating factor(PEG rhG-CSF) is 100 μg/kg once per cycle for patients receiving intense-dose chemotherapy.However, few data are available on the proper dose for patients receiving less-intense chemotherapy. The aim of this phase I study is to explore the proper dose and administration schedule of PEG rhG-CSF for patients receiving standard-dose chemotherapy.Methods:Eligible patients received 3-cycle chemotherapy every 3 weeks.No PEG rhG-CSF was given in the first cycle.Patients experienced grade 3 or 4 neutropenia would then enter the cycle 2 and 3.In cycle 2,patients received a single subcutaneous injection of prophylactic PEG rhG-CSF on d 3,and received half-dose subcutaneous injection in cycle 3 on d 3 and d 5,respectively.Escalating doses(30,60,100 and 200μg/kg)of PEG rhG-CSF were investigated.Results:A total of 26 patients were enrolled and received chemotherapy,in which 24 and 18 patients entered cycle 2 and cycle 3 treatment,respectively.In cycle 2,the incidence of grade 3 or 4 neutropenia for patients receiving single-dose PEG rhG-CSF of 30,60,100 and 200 μg/kg was 66.67%,33.33%,22.22% and 0,respectively,with a median duration less than 1(0–2)d.No grade 3 or higher neutropenia was noted in cycle 3 in all dose cohorts.Conclusions:The pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic profiles of PEG rhG-CSF used in cancer patients were similar to those reported,as well as the safety.Double half dose administration model showed better efficacy result than a single dose model in terms of grade 3 neutropenia and above.The single dose of 60 μg/kg,100 μg/kg and double half dose of 30 μg/kg were recommended to the phase Ⅱ study,hoping to find a preferable method for neutropenia treatment. | Yan Qin Xiaohong Han Lin Wang Ping Du Jiarui Yao Di Wu Yuanyuan Song Shuxiang Zhang Le Tang Yuankai Shi | 2017 | Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2017,29,5: | 11 |

| 11 | Whole-Genome Resequencing of a Worldwide Collection of Rapeseed Accessions Reveals the Genetic Basis of Ecotype Divergence显示文摘Rapeseed (Brassica napus),an important oilseed crop,has adapted to diverse climate zones and latitudes by forming three main ecotype groups,namely winter,semiwinter,and spring types. However,genetic variations underlying the divergence of these ecotypes are largely unknown. Here,we report the global pattern of genetic polymorphisms in rapeseed determined by resequencing a worldwide collection of 991 germplasm accessions.A total of 5.56 and 5.53 million singlenucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs)as Well as 1.86 and 1.92 million InDels were identified by mapping reads to the reference genomes of 'Darmor-bzh'and 'Tapidor,'respectively.We generated a map of allelic drift paths that shows splits and mixtures of the main populations,and revealed an asymmetric evolution of the two subgenomes of B.napus by calculating the genetic diversity and linkage disequilibrium parameters.Selective-sweep analysis revealed genetic changes in genes orthologous to those regulating various aspects of plant development and response to stresses.A genome-wide association study identified SNPs in the promoter regions of FLOWERING LOCUS T and FLOWERING LOCUS C orthologs that corresponded to the different rapeseed ecotype groups. | 12 | Psychological impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on healthcare workers:a cross-sectional study in China显示文摘Background Healthcare workers fighting against the coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)pandemic are under tremendous pressure,which puts them at an increased risk of developing psychological problems.Aims This study aimed to investigate the prevalence of psychological problems in different healthcare workers(ie,physicians,medical residents,nurses,technicians and public health professionals)during the COVID-19 pandemic in China and explore factors that are associated with the onset of psychological problems in this population during this public health crisis.Methods A cross-sectional,web-based survey was conducted in February 2020 among healthcare workers during the COVID-19 pandemic.Psychological problems were assessed using the Generalized Anxiety Disorder Scale,Patient Health Questionnaire and Insomnia Severity Index.Logistic regression analyses were used to explore the factors that were associated with psychological problems.Results The prevalence of symptoms of anxiety,depression,insomnia and the overall psychological problems in healthcare workers during the COVID-19 pandemic in China was 46.04%,44.37%,28.75%and 56.59%,respectively.The prevalence of the overall psychological problems in physicians,medical residents,nurses,technicians and public health professionals was 60.35%,50.82%,62.02%,57.54%and 62.40%,respectively.Compared with healthcare workers who did not participate in front-line work,front-line healthcare workers had a higher risk of anxiety,insomnia and overall psychological problems.In addition,attention to negative or neutral information about the pandemic,receiving negative feedback from families and friends who joined front-line work,and unwillingness to join front-line work if given a free choice were three major factors for these psychological problems.Conclusions Psychological problems are pervasive among healthcare workers during the COVID-19 pandemic.Receiving negative information and participating in front-line work appear to be.important risk factors for psychological problems.The psychological health of different healthcare workers should be protected during the COVID-19 pandemic with timely interventions and proper information feedback. | Jianyu Que Le Shi Jiahui Deng Jiajia Liu Li Zhang Suying Wu Yimiao Gong Weizhen Huang Kai Yuan Wei Yan Yankun Sun Maosheng Ran Yanping Bao Lin Lu | 2020 | General Psychiatry2020,33,3: | 8 |
| 13 | Role of pre-vertical compression in deformation behavior of Mg alloy AZ31B during super-high reduction hot rolling process显示文摘Mg alloy AZ31 B plates were processed by hot rolling with different thickness reductions per pass and prevertical compression followed by super-high reduction hot rolling(PVCR), respectively. Microstructure evolution, rolling formability variation and mechanical responses were investigated. As reduction per pass increased, the number of shear bands deflecting toward rolling direction increased, resulting in easy crack initiation in and around the bands. With increasing reduction per pass up to 80%, twinning and twinning-induced dynamic recrystallization(DRX) dominated the deformation of the edge material at350?C, resulting in local recrystallization with coarse grains and further largest edge-crack degree. Preinduced {10ī12} tensile twins by pre-vertical compression(PVC) increased number density of nucleation sites for dynamic recrystallization during the subsequent severe rolling, which enhanced the dominant role of continuous dynamic recrystallization. Designed PVCR-b was proved to be a relatively effective method to improve rolling formability of rolled Mg alloy AZ31 B plates. With this method, mean grain size of AZ31 B plate was significantly refined from ~600 mm to ~14.1 mm and more homogeneous grain size distribution along transverse direction(TD) was achieved. In addition, basal texture intensity was greatly weakened. | 14 | An expression atlas of miRNAs in Arabidopsis thaliana显示文摘MicroRNAs(miRNAs) are small non-coding RNAs that regulate a variety of biological processes. miRNA expression often exhibits spatial and temporal specificity. However, genome-wide miRNA expression patterns in different organs during development of Arabidopsis thaliana have not yet been systemically investigated. In this study, we sequenced small RNA libraries generated from 27 different organ/tissue types, which cover the entire life cycle of Arabidopsis. Analysis of the sequencing data revealed that most miRNAs are ubiquitously expressed, whereas a small set of miRNAs display highly specific expression patterns. In addition, different miRNA members within the same family have distinct spatial and temporal expression patterns. Moreover, we found that some miRNAs are produced from different arms of their hairpin precursors at different developmental stages. | 16 | Modified k-ω model using kinematic vorticity for corner separation in compressor cascades显示文摘A new method of modifying the conventional k-ω turbulence model for corner separation is proposed in this paper. The production term in the ω equation is modified using kinematic vorticity considering fluid rotation and deformation in complex geometric boundary conditions. The corner separation flow in linear compressor cascades is calculated using the original k-ω model, the modified k-ω model and the Reynolds stress model(RSM). The numerical results of the modified model are compared with the available experimental data, as well as the corresponding results of the original k-ω model and RSM. In terms of accuracy, the modified model, which significantly improves the performance of the original k-ω model for predicting corner separation, is quite competitive with the RSM. | 17 | Whole-genome sequencing provides insights into the genetic diversity and domestication of bitter gourd(Momordica spp.)显示文摘Bitter gourd(Momordica charantia)is a popular cultivated vegetable in Asian and African countries.To reveal the characteristics of the genomic structure,evolutionary trajectory,and genetic basis underlying the domestication of bitter gourd,we performed whole-genome sequencing of the cultivar Dali-11 and the wild small-fruited line TR and resequencing of 187 bitter gourd germplasms from 16 countries.The major gene clusters(Bi clusters)for the biosynthesis of cucurbitane triterpenoids,which confer a bitter taste,are highly conserved in cucumber,melon,and watermelon.Comparative analysis among cucurbit genomes revealed that the Bi cluster involved in cucurbitane triterpenoid biosynthesis is absent in bitter gourd.Phylogenetic analysis revealed that the TR group,including 21 bitter gourd germplasms,may belong to a new species or subspecies independent from M.charantia.Furthermore,we found that the remaining 166 M.charantia germplasms are geographically differentiated,and we identified 710,412,and 290 candidate domestication genes in the South Asia,Southeast Asia,and China populations,respectively.This study provides new insights into bitter gourd genetic diversity and domestication and will facilitate the future genomics-enabled improvement of bitter gourd. | Junjie Cui Yan Yang Shaobo Luo Le Wang Rukui Huang Qingfang Wen Xiaoxia Han Nansheng Miao Jiaowen Cheng Ziji Liu Changyuan Zhang Chengcheng Feng Haisheng Zhu Jianwen Su Xinjian Wan Fang Hu Yu Niu Xiaoming Zheng Yulan Yang Dai Shan Zhensheng Dong Weiming He Narinder P.S.Dhillon Kailin Hu | 2020 | Horticulture Research2020,7,1: | 7 |

| 19 | Deformation mechanism and microstructures on polycrystalline aluminum induced by high-current pulsed electron beam显示文摘In this paper, we present an experimental investigation of deformation twinning in polycrystalline aluminum exposed to high-current pulsed electron beam (HCPEB) irradiation. The residual tensile stress with about 10 2 MPa was introduced in the irradiated surface layer. The feature characteristic irradiated with various numbers of pulses was investigated. The formation of a large number of twin bands on the surface irradiated with multiple pulses was determined. The experimental observations indicated that the deformation twinning was indeed triggered during HCPEB irradiation. It is suggested that high value of stress and strain rate induced by rapid heating and cooling due to HCPEB irradiation may cause the shifting of whole atomic planes simultaneously. | 20 | Simultaneous incorporation of PTH(1-34) and nano-hydroxyapatite into Chitosan/Alginate Hydrogels for efficient bone regeneration显示文摘Tissue regeneration based on the utilization of artificial soft materials is considered a promising treatment for bone-related diseases.Here,we report cranial bone regeneration promoted by hydrogels that contain parathyroid hormone(PTH)peptide PTH(1-34)and nano-hydroxyapatite(nHAP).A combination of the positively charged natural polymer chitosan(CS)and negatively charged sodium alginate led to the formation of hydrogels with porous structures,as shown by scanning electron microscopy.Rheological characterizations revealed that the mechanical properties of the hydrogels were almost maintained upon the addition of nHAP and PTH(1-34).In vitro experiments showed that the hydrogel containing nHAP and PTH(1-34)exhibited strong biocompatibility and facilitated osteogenic differentiation of rat bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells(rBMSCs)via the Notch signaling pathway,as shown by the upregulated expression of osteogenic-related proteins.We found that increasing the content of PTH(1-34)in the hydrogels resulted in enhanced osteogenic differentiation of BMSCs.Implantation of the complex hydrogel into a rat cranial defect model led to efficient bone regeneration compared to the rats treated with the hydrogel alone or with nHAP,indicating the simultaneous therapeutic effect of nHAP and PTH during the treatment process.Both the in vitro and in vivo results demonstrated that simultaneously incorporating nHAP and PTH into hydrogels shows promise for bone regeneration,suggesting a new strategy for tissue engineering and regeneration in the future. | Zhiyuan Zou Le Wang Zhifei Zhou Qing Sun Delong Liu Yan Chen Hao Hu Yu Cai Sixiong Lin Zhengran Yu Bizhi Tan Wei Guo Zemin Ling Xuenong Zou | 2021 | Bioactive Materials2021,6,6: | 7 |
