Methods\ Male SD rats were treated with permethrin (7 mg/kg, i.p) or cypermethrin (70 mg/kg, i.p) once a day for 3 days. Glu and GABA immunoreactive cells and transmitters in CNS were studied by immunohistochemical method. Results\ The total number, percentage of positive area and integral optical density of glutamate immunoreactive cell in cerebral cortex, hippocampus decreased significantly in permethrin or cypermethrin, while GABA was enhanced. Cypermethrin is more tent than permethrin on either Glu or GABA. | 3 | The Association of Maternal Body Composition and Dietary Intake with the Risk of Gestational Diabetes Mellitus during the Second Trimester in a Cohort of Chinese Pregnant Women显示文摘Objective To investigate the association of maternal body composition and dietary intake with the risk of gestational diabetes mellitus(GDM). Methods A total 154 GDM subjects and 981 controls were enrolled in a prospective cohort study in 11 hospitals from May 20, 2012 to December 31, 2013. Bioelectrical impedance analysis and dietary surveys were used to determine body composition and to evaluate the intake of nutrients in subjects at 21-24 weeks' gestation(WG). Logistic regression analysis was applied to explore the relationships of maternal body composition and dietary intake with the risk of GDM morbidity. Results Age, pre-pregnant body weight(BW), and body mass index(BMI) were associated with increased risk of GDM. Fat mass(FM), fat mass percentage(FMP), extracellular water(ECW), BMI, BW, energy, protein, fat, and carbohydrates at 21-24 WG were associated with an increased risk of GDM. In contrast, fat free mass(FFM), muscular mass(MM), and intracellular water(ICW) were associated with a decreased risk of GDM. | 4 | Biodegradable chitosan scaffolds containing microspheres as carriers for controlled transforming growth factor-β_1 delivery for cartilage tissue engineering显示文摘Background Natural articular cartilage has a limited capacity for spontaneous regeneration.Controlled release oftransforming growth factor-β_1(TGF-β_1)to cartilage defects can enhance chondrogenesis.In this study,we assessed thefeasibility of using biodegradable chitosan microspheres as carriers for controlled TGF-β_1 delivery and the effect ofreleased TGF-β_1 on the chondrogenic potential of chondrocytes.Methods Chitosan scaffolds and chitosan microspheres loaded with TGF-β_1 were prepared by the freeze-drying andthe emulsion-crosslinking method respectively.In vitro drug release kinetics,as measured by enzyme-linkedimmunosorbent assay,was monitored for 7 days.Lysozyme degradation was performed for 4 weeks to detect in vitrodegradability of the scaffolds and the microspheres.Rabbit chondrocytes were seeded on the scaffolds containingTGF-β_1 microspheres and incubated in vitro for 3 weeks.Histological examination and type Ⅱcollagenimmunohistochemical staining was performed to evaluate the effects of released TGF-β_1 on cell adhesivity,proliferationand synthesis of the extracellular matrix.Results TGF-β_1 was encapsulated into chitosan microspheres and the encapsulation efficiency of TGF-β_1 was high(90.1%).During 4 weeks of incubation in lysozyme solution for in vitro degradation,the mass of both the scaffolds andthe microspheres decreased continuously and significant morphological changes was noticed.From the releaseexperiments,it was found that TGF-β_1 could be released from the microspheres in a multiphasic fashion including aninitial burst phase,a slow linear release phase and a plateau phase.The release amount of TGF-β_1 was 37.4%,50.7%,61.3%,and 63.5% for 1,3,5,and 7 days respectively.At 21 days after cultivation,type Ⅱ collagen immunohistochemicalstaining was performed.The mean percentage of positive cells for collagen type II in control group(32.7%±10.4%)wassignificantly lower than that in the controlled TGF-β_1 release group(92.4%±4.8%,P<0.05).Both the proliferation rateand production of collagen type Ⅱ in the transforming growth factor-β_1 microsphere incorporated scaffolds weresignificantly higher than those in the scaffolds without microspheres,indicating that the activity of TGF-β_1 was retainedduring microsphere fabrication and after growth factor release.Conclusion Chitosan microspheres can serve as delivery vehicles for controlled release of TGF-β_1,and the releasedgrowth factor can augment chondrocytes proliferation and synthesis of extracellular matrix.Chitosan scaffoldsincorporated with chitosan microspheres loaded with TGF-β_1 possess a promising potential to be applied for controlledcytokine delivery and cartilage tissue engineering. | CAI Dao-zhang ZENG Chun QUAN Da-ping BU Li-si WANG Kun LU Hua-ding LI Xiao-feng | 2007 | Chinese Medical Journal2007,,3: | 20 |

| 6 | Calcium channel blockers reduce severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome virus (SFTSV) related fatality显示文摘Severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome (SFTS),an emerging tick-borne infectious disease caused by a novel phlebovirus (SFTS virus, SFTSV), was listed among the top 10 priority infectious diseases by the World Health Organization due to its high fatality of 12%-50% and possibility of pandemic transmission. Currently, effective anti-SFTSV intervention remains unavailable. Here, by screening a library of FDA-approved drugs, we found that benidipine hydrochloride, a calcium channel blocker (CCB), inhibited SFTSV replication in vitro. Benidipine hydrochloride was revealed to inhibit virus infection through impairing virus internalization and genome replication. Further experiments showed that a broad panel of CCBs, including nifedipine, inhibited SFTSV infection. The anti-SFTSV effect of these two CCBs was further an a lyzed in a humanized mouse model in which CCB treatment resulted in reduced viral load and decreased fatality rate. Importantly, by performing a retrospective clinical investigation on a large cohort of 2087 SFTS patients, we revealed that nifedipine administration enhaneed virus clearance, improved clinical recovery, and remarkably reduced the case fatality rate by >5-fold. In this paper, a new topology suitable for AC/DC hybrid distribution network is put forward according to the demands of power grid, with advantages of accepting DG and DC loads, while clearing DC fault by blocking the clamping double sub-module(CDSM) of input stage. Then, this paper shows the typical structure of AC/DC distribution network that is hand in hand. Based on the new topology, this paper designs the control and modulation strategies of each stage, where the outer loop controller of input stage is emphasized for its twocontrol mode. At last, the rationality of new topology and the validity of control strategies are verified by the steady and dynamic state simulation. Southern blot molecular hybridization was further carried out to detect the product of RT PCR with digoxigenin labeled nucleotide probe from BamHI I2 and L fragment in the gene library of MDV strain GA, respectively. | 11 | Upgrading and dephosphorization of Western Australian iron ore using reduction roasting by adding sodium carbonate显示文摘The technology of direct reduction by adding sodium carbonate (Na2CO3 ) and magnetic separation was developed to treat Western Australian high phosphorus iron ore. The iron ore and reduced product were investigated by optical microscopy and scanning electron microscopy. It is found that phosphorus exists within limonite in the form of solid solution, which cannot be removed through traditional ways. During reduction roasting, Na2CO3 reacts with gangue minerals (SiO2 and Al2O3 ), forming aluminum silicate-containing phosphorus and damaging the ore structure, which promotes the separation between iron and phosphorus during magnetic separation. Meanwhile, Na2CO3 also improves the growth of iron grains, increasing the iron grade and iron recovery. The iron concentrate, assaying 94.12wt% Fe and 0.07wt% P at the iron recovery of 96.83% and the dephosphorization rate of 74.08%, is obtained under the optimum conditions. | 13 | Analysis of Allergens in 5473 Patients with Allergic Diseases in Harbin, China显示文摘Objective To analyze the allergic status to common inhalant allergens and food allergens in clinical patients in Harbin in northeastern China and provide evidence to develop the prevention strategy of allergic disease. Methods The data were collected from 5473 patients with clinical suspected allergic diseases seeking medical care in the Second Affiliated Hospital of Harbin Medical University. Among these patients, 2530(46.2%) were males aged 0-86 years, the youngest was only 1 month old and 2579(47.1%) were young children and teenagers. The serum specific Immunoglobulin E(sIgE) to 14 kinds of common allergens and serum total IgE were detected by using AllergyScreen test(Mediwiss Analytic GmbH, Moers, Germany). Results In 5473 subjects the positive rate of sIgE was 33.1%(n=1813). Cow milk(6.9%) and wheat(3.1%) were the most common food allergens, followed by house dust mite mix(12.5%) and mould mix(9.4%) and the age and gender specific differences in the positive rate were significant. For the children aged <7 years the positive rates to cow milk, beef-mutton, and egg white/egg yolk were high, but the positive rates to house dust mite mix, ragweed estragon, and mould mix were low(P<0.05). For the adults the positive rates to aeroallergens were high while the rates to food allergens were low. Conclusion The results from this study showed that the food allergens in Harbin had geographic characteristics, which support the viewpoint that the environment factors play an important role in the incidence of allergic diseases. | 14 | Oceanic environmental changes of subarctic Bering Sea in recent 100 years: Evidence from molecular fossils显示文摘The core sample B2-9 from the seafloor of the subarctic Bering Sea was dated with 210 Pb to obtain a consecutive sequence of oceanic sedimentary environments at an interval of a decade during 1890—1999. A variety of molecular fossils were detected, including n-alkanes, isoprenoids, fatty acids, sterols, etc. By the characteristics of these fine molecules (C27, C28, and C29 sterols) and their molecular indices (Pr/Ph, ∑C+22/∑C?21, CPI and C18∶2/C18∶0) and in con- sideration of the variation of organic carbon content, the 100-year evolution history of subarctic sea paleoenvironment was reestablished. It is indicated that during the past 100 years in the Arctic, there were two events of strong climate warming (1920—1950 and 1980—1999), which resulted in an oxidated sediment environment owing to decreasing terrigenous organic matters and increasing marine-derived organic matters, and two events of transitory climate cooling (1910 and 1970—1980), which resulted in a slightly reduced sediment environment owing to increasing terrigenous organic matters and decreasing marine-derived organic matters. | 15 | Circulating miR-214 is associated with the severity of coronary artery disease显示文摘Objective To study whether miR-214 is regulated in coronary artery disease (CAD) patients and whether placental growth factor (PLGF) is a possible target for miR-214 in atherosclerosis. Methods Circulating miR-214 was measured by quantitative PCR using RNA isolated from 40 patients with CAD, including 12with stable angina pectoris, 16 with unstable angina pectoris and 12 with acute myocardial infarction, and 15 controls without CAD. Plasma level of PLGF was measured by ELISA. Results The miR-214 level was significantly lower inCADpatients compared with that in controls (P < 0.01). Compared to controls, patients with unstable angina pectoris (UAP, 38.6± 9.1 pg/mL) and acute myocardial infarction (AMI, 46.3±13.4 pg/mL) had significantly higher level of plasma PLGF, but not those with stable angina pectoris (SAP; P = 0.012, UAP vs. Control; P = 0.005, AMI vs. Control). In patients with AMI, the plasma level of miR-214 was positively correlated to that of PLGF. Conclusions The results suggest thatmiR-214 is a beneficial microRNAfor CAD patients. Loss of its protectionmay lead to increased PLGF levels andworsening atherosclerosis. | 17 | Abnormal subchondral bone remodeling and its association with articular cartilage degradation in knees of type 2 diabetes patients显示文摘Type 2 diabetes(T2 D) is associated with systemic abnormal bone remodeling and bone loss. Meanwhile,abnormal subchondral bone remodeling induces cartilage degradation, resulting in osteoarthritis(OA).Accordingly, we investigated alterations in subchondral bone remodeling, microstructure and strength in knees from T2 D patients and their association with cartilage degradation. Tibial plateaus were collected from knee OA patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty and divided into non-diabetic(n = 70) and diabetes(n = 51) groups. Tibial plateaus were also collected from cadaver donors(n = 20) and used as controls.Subchondral bone microstructure was assessed using micro-computed tomography. Bone strength was evaluated by micro-finite-element analysis. Cartilage degradation was estimated using histology. The expression of tartrate-resistant acidic phosphatase(TRAP), osterix, and osteocalcin were calculated using immunohistochemistry. Osteoarthritis Research Society International(OARSI) scores of lateral tibial plateau did not differ between non-diabetic and diabetes groups, while higher OARSI scores on medial side were detected in diabetes group. Lower bone volume fraction and trabecular number and higher structure model index were found on both sides in diabetes group. These microstructural alterations translated into lower elastic modulus in diabetes group. Moreover, diabetes group had a larger number of TRAP^+ osteoclasts and lower number of Osterix^+ osteoprogenitors and Osteocalcin^+ osteoblasts. T2 D knees are characterized by abnormal subchondral bone remodeling and microstructural and mechanical impairments, which were associated with exacerbated cartilage degradation. | 20 | Decreased Average Albumin-to-Globulin Ratio During Radiotherapy Worsens the Prognosis of Esophageal Squamous Cell Carcinoma:Implications for Nutritional Management显示文摘Objective Malnutrition and cachexia are common in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma(ESCC)patients undergoing radiotherapy.This study evaluated how malnutrition-and cachexia-related indicators,including the albumin-to-globulin ratio(AGR),and their changes during radiotherapy predict the treatment outcomes.Methods We reviewed a total of 172 ESCC patients receiving radiotherapy(as a primary cohort)and performed a Cox regression analysis on potential prognostic factors,including the AGR,as well as the TNM stage and concomitant chemotherapy.A subsequent receiver operating characteristics(ROC)curve and Kaplan Meier survival analysis was performed for ESCC patients stratified by the average AGR cut-off point.Results In addition to the well-documented factors(i.e.TNM stage and concomitant chemotherapy),the average AGR was a significant prognostic factor for ESCC patients receiving radiotherapy.By plotting the ROC curve of the average AGR with regard to the ESCC prognosis,we obtained cut-off points for the overall patients(cut-off point:1.5,AUC:0.636),for patients with stageⅡ/Ⅲdisease(cut-off point:1.5,AUC:0.611),and for patients with stageⅣdisease(cut-off point:1.84,AUC:0.900).The ESCC patients with higher average AGR had a significantly more favorable OS compared with those with a lower average AGR.Notably,ESCC patients who had an increasingΔAGR during radiotherapy had a considerably more favorable OS compared with those with a decreasingΔAGR.All of these findings were reproducible in the validation cohort.Conclusion A lower average AGR is indicative of a poorer prognosis for ESCC patients following radiotherapy.Improving the nutritional status and preventing or ameliorating cachexia might contribute to improving the prognosis of ESCC patients. | Fen Cai Xiu Lian Zhang Xiao Ling Wu Ting Ting Zhuang Lei Huang Yi Fei Tu Yuan Yuan Lu Min Xia Jiang Qing Ying Zhang Yan Lin Chang Chun Ma | 2021 | Journal of Nutritional Oncology2021,6,2: | 8 |
