1Microalgae:A potential alternative to health supplementation for humans显示文摘Microalgae has been consumed in human diet for thousands of years.It is an under-exploited crop for production of dietary foods.Microalgae cultivation does not compete with land and resources required for traditional crops and has a superior yield compared to terrestrial crops.Its high protein content has exhibited a huge potential to meet the dietary requirements of growing population.Apart from being a source of protein,presence of various bio-active components in microalgae provide an added health benefit.This review describes various microalgal sources of proteins and other bio-active components.One of the heavily studied group of bio-active components are pigments due to their anticarcenogenic,antioxidative and antihypertensive properties.Compared to various plant and floral species,microalgae contain higher amounts of pigments.Microalgal derived proteins have complete Essential Amino Acids(EAA)profiles and their protein content is higher than conventional sources such as meat,poultry and dairy products.However,microalgal based functional foods have not flooded the market.The lack of awareness coupled with scarce incentives for producers result in under-exploitation of microalgal potential.Application of microalgal derived components as dietary and nutraceutical supplements is discussed comprehensively.Apurav Krishna Koyande Kit Wayne Chew Krishnamoorthy Rambabu Yang Tao Dinh-Toi Chu Pau-Loke Show 2019Food Science and Human Wellness2019,8,1:10
2Machine-learned interatomic potentials by active learning:amorphous and liquid hafnium dioxide显示文摘We propose an active learning scheme for automatically sampling a minimum number of uncorrelated configurations for fitting the Gaussian Approximation Potential(GAP).Our active learning scheme consists of an unsupervised machine learning(ML)scheme coupled with a Bayesian optimization technique that evaluates the GAP model.We apply this scheme to a Hafnium dioxide(HfO2)dataset generated from a“melt-quench”ab initio molecular dynamics(AIMD)protocol.Our results show that the active learning scheme,with no prior knowledge of the dataset,is able to extract a configuration that reaches the required energy fit tolerance.Further,molecular dynamics(MD)simulations performed using this active learned GAP model on 6144 atom systems of amorphous and liquid state elucidate the structural properties of HfO2 with near ab initio precision and quench rates(i.e.,1.0 K/ps)not accessible via AIMD.The melt and amorphous X-ray structural factors generated from our simulation are in good agreement with experiment.In addition,the calculated diffusion constants are in good agreement with previous ab initio studies.Ganesh Sivaraman Anand Narayanan Krishnamoorthy Matthias Baur Christian Holm Marius Stan Gábor Csányi Chris Benmore Álvaro Vázquez-Mayagoitia 2020npj Computational Materials2020,,1:10
3Sedimentation model and analysis for differential settling of two-particle-size suspensions in the Stokes region显示文摘A model is developed for predicting the settling velocity in suspensions of particles of two different sizes based on experimental data for the settling rate of two-size suspensions in various liquids using particles of equal density. In these experiments, the retarding effect of the smaller particles on the settling velocities of the larger ones is taken into account. The model considers Steinour's fundamental equation and assumes a fixed arrangement of particles and constant velocity in a single-size suspension under creeping flow conditions and the flow spaces changing in shape and size with the volumetric concentration of solids. Based on the foregoing, a simplified model equation is proposed for the settling of particles in a suspension as a function of their free fall velocity and of the solids concentration. Different experimental conditions are used to show the effect of solids concentration, liquid density, and viscosity on the settling behaviour of the glass beads with low particle Reynolds numbers and bed porosity ranging from 0.62 to 0.95. The present study involves the lower and upper interface velocities of two-size suspensions of solids in liquids (concentrated and dilute suspensions) covering a wide range in the properties of the liquids and solids, and more specifically in solids concentration (Glass beads and Sand).P. 4Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography:Current practice and future research显示文摘Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography(ERCP)has evolved from a primarily diagnostic to therapeutic procedure in hepatobiliary and pancreatic disease.Most commonly,ERCPs are performed for choledocholithiasis with or without cholangitis,but improvements in technology and technique have allowed for management of pancreatic duct stones,benign and malignant strictures,and bile and pancreatic leaks.As an example of necessity driving innovation,the new disposable duodenoscopes have been introduced into practice.With the advantage of eliminating transmissible infections,they represent a paradigm shift in quality improvement within ERCP.With procedures becoming more complicated,the necessity for anesthesia involvement and safety of propofol use and general anesthesia has become better defined.The improvements in endoscopic ultrasound(EUS)have allowed for direct bile duct access and EUS facilitated bile duct access for ERCP.In patients with surgically altered anatomy,selective cannulation can be performed with overtube-assisted enteroscopy,laparoscopic surgery assistance,or the EUS-directed transgastric ERCP.Cholangioscopy and pancreatoscopy use has become ubiquitous with defined indications for large bile duct stones,indeterminate strictures,and hepatobiliary and pancreatic neoplasia.This review summarizes the recent advances in infection prevention,quality improvement,pancreaticobiliary access,and management of hepatobiliary and pancreatic diseases.Where appropriate,future research directions are included in each section.David J Sanders Shivanand Bomman Rajesh Krishnamoorthi Richard A Kozarek 2021World Journal of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy2021,13,8:5
5Identification and characterization of genotype A and D recombinant hepatitis B virus from Indian chronic HBV isolates显示文摘AIM: To confirm the presence of recombination,full-length hepatitis B virus (HBV) from chronic patients was sequenced and analyzed.METHODS: Full-length HBV genomes from 12 patients were amplified and sequenced in an automated sequencer.Phylogenetic analysis was carried out on full-length,Core and preS2/Surface regions using MEGA software.SimPlot Boot Scanning and amino acid sequence analysis were performed for confirmation of recombination.RESULTS: Eight patients were infected with genotype D strain; one patient with genotype A and three patients had genotype A and D recombination; two of them had cirrhosis and one had hepatocellular carcinoma.Phylogenetic analysis of core and preS2/surface regions separately showed evidence of genotype A and D recombination.The breakpoints of recombination were found to be at the start of preS2 and at the end of surface coding regions.CONCLUSION: We identified and characterized recombinant A and D genotype HBV in hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg)-positive patients.Ranjit Chauhan Syed Naqui Kazim Manoj Kumar Jayashree Bhattacharjee Narayanasamy Krishnamoorthy Shiv Kumar Sarin 2008World Journal of Gastroenterology2008,14,40:4

Upon completion of the reaction, the product was isolated by filtration or extraction and the remaining aqueous TUD solution could be reused several times without any discernible impact on its catalytic activity. 7Tailorable,Lightweight and Superelastic Liquid Metal Monoliths for Multifunctional Electromagnetic Interference Shielding显示文摘Liquid metal(LM)has become an emerging material paradigm in the electromagnetic interference shielding field owing to its excellent electrical conductivity.However,the processing of lightweight bulk LM composites with finite package without leakage is still a great challenge,due to high surface tension and pump-out issues of LM.Here,a novel confined thermal expansion strategy based on expandable microsphere(EM)is proposed to develop a new class of LM-based monoliths with 3D continuous conductive network.The EM/LM monolith(EM/LMm)presents outstanding performance of lightweight like metallic aerogel(0.104 g cm^(-1)),high strength(3.43 MPa),super elasticity(90%strain),as well as excellent tailor ability and recyclability,rely on its unique gas-filled closed-cellular structure and refined LM network.Moreover,the assembled highly conducting EM/LMm exhibits a recorded shielding effectiveness(98.7 dB)over a broad frequency range of 8.2-40 GHz among reported LM-based composites at an ultra-low content of LM,and demonstrates excellent electromagnetic sealing capacity in practical electronics.The ternary EM/LM/Ni monoliths fabricated by the same approach could be promising universal design principles for multifunctional LM composites,and applicable in magnetic responsive actuator.Yadong Xu Zhiqiang Lin Krishnamoorthy Rajavel Tao Zhao Pengli Zhu Yougen Hu Rong Sun Ching-Ping Wong 2022Nano-Micro Letters2022,14,2:3

9Strategies for scalable symbolic execution-driven test generation for programs显示文摘With the advent of advanced program analysis and constraint solving techniques,several test generation tools use variants of symbolic execution.Symbolic techniques have been shown to be very effective in path-based test generation;however,they fail to scale to large programs due to the exponential number of paths to be explored.In this paper,we focus on tackling this path explosion problem and propose search strategies to achieve quick branch coverage under symbolic execution,while exploring only a fraction of paths in the program.We present a reachability-guided strategy that makes use of the reachability graph of the program to explore unvisited portions of the program and a conflict-driven backtracking strategy that utilizes conflict analysis to perform nonchronological backtracking.We present experimental evidence that these strategies can significantly reduce the search space and improve the speed of test generation for programs.KRISHNAMOORTHY Saparya HSIAO Michael S. 11Change in model for end-stage liver disease score at two weeks,as an indicator of mortality or liver transplantation at 60 days in acute-on-chronic liver failure显示文摘Background:Acute-on-chronic liver failure(ACLF)is characterised by a sudden deterioration of underlying chronic liver disease,resulting in increased rates of mortality and liver transplantation.Early prognostication can benefit optimal allocation of resources.Methods:ACLF was defined as per the disease criteria of the Asian Pacific Association for the Study of the Liver.Inpatient discharge summaries from between January 2001 and April 2013 were reviewed.The primary outcome was mortality or liver transplantation within 60 days from onset of ACLF.Absolute‘model for end-stage liver disease’(MELD)score and change in MELD at Weeks 1,2 and 4 were reviewed in order to identify the earliest point for prediction of mortality or liver transplantation.Results:Clinical data were collected on 53 subjects who fulfilled the inclusion and exclusion criteria.At 60 days from presentation,20 patients(37.7%)died and 4(7.5%)underwent liver transplantation.Increased MELD of-2 after 2 weeks was 75.0%sensitive and 75.9%specific for predicting mortality or liver transplantation.If the MELD score did not increase at 2 weeks,predictive chance of survival was 93.8%over the next 60 days.MELD change at 1 week showed poor sensitivity and specificity.Change at 4 weeks was too late for intervention.Conclusion:Change in MELD score at 2 weeks provides an early opportunity for prognostication in ACLF.A MELD score that does not deteriorate by Week 2 would predict 93.8%chance of survival for the next 60 days.This finding warrants further validation in larger cohort studies.Rajneesh Kumar Thinesh Lee Krishnamoorthy Hiang Keat Tan Hock Foong Lui Wan Cheng Chow 2015Gastroenterology Report2015,3,2:2
12Improvised Seagull Optimization Algorithm for Scheduling Tasks in Heterogeneous Cloud Environment显示文摘Well organized datacentres with interconnected servers constitute the cloud computing infrastructure.User requests are submitted through an interface to these servers that provide service to them in an on-demand basis.The scientific applications that get executed at cloud by making use of the heterogeneous resources being allocated to them in a dynamic manner are grouped under NP hard problem category.Task scheduling in cloud poses numerous challenges impacting the cloud performance.If not handled properly,user satisfaction becomes questionable.More recently researchers had come up with meta-heuristic type of solutions for enriching the task scheduling activity in the cloud environment.The prime aim of task scheduling is to utilize the resources available in an optimal manner and reduce the time span of task execution.An improvised seagull optimization algorithm which combines the features of the Cuckoo search(CS)and seagull optimization algorithm(SOA)had been proposed in this work to enhance the performance of the scheduling activity inside the cloud computing environment.The proposed algorithm aims to minimize the cost and time parameters that are spent during task scheduling in the heterogeneous cloud environment.Performance evaluation of the proposed algorithm had been performed using the Cloudsim 3.0 toolkit by comparing it with Multi objective-Ant Colony Optimization(MO-ACO),ACO and Min-Min algorithms.The proposed SOA-CS technique had produced an improvement of 1.06%,4.2%,and 2.4%for makespan and had reduced the overall cost to the extent of 1.74%,3.93%and 2.77%when compared with PSO,ACO,IDEA algorithms respectively when 300 vms are considered.The comparative simulation results obtained had shown that the proposed improvised seagull optimization algorithm fares better than other contemporaries.Pradeep Krishnadoss Vijayakumar Kedalu Poornachary Parkavi Krishnamoorthy Leninisha Shanmugam 2023Computers, Materials & Continua2023,,2:2
13高温高压气流床气化炉中生物质焦炭的孔结构特征及活性试验显示文摘为探讨生物质在高温高压气流床气化炉(HTPEFG)中气化后的焦炭表面结构变化,在连续运行的气化炉中制备生物质焦炭样品,对其进行工业分析、振实密度测定、N2吸附脱附测试,并在高压热分析仪(HPTGA)中开展生物质焦炭初步的气化活性测试。结果表明:经气化后,生物质焦炭的主要成分为固定碳、挥发分和灰分,其中固定碳成分最高,而大部分的挥发分虽然析出,但仍有残留,说明较高的气化压力阻碍了挥发分从焦炭中析出。与生物质原料相比,焦炭的振实密度明显上升,且在较高气化压力下制备的焦炭样品振实密度更大。焦炭样品中分布着较多的介孔,而微孔较少。气化压力较大时,焦炭的比表面积和孔容较小,而其平均孔径则相对较大。气化压力从0.63 MPa增大到1.13 MPa时,比表面积和孔容分别减小了7.47%和22.22%,平均孔径增大了18.94%。生物质焦炭的碳转化率和反应活性始终呈线性上升的趋势,表明生物质焦炭的活性较好,可取得很高的气化效率。冯飞 KRISHNAMOORTHY Vijayaragavan PISUPATI Sarma V 2021南京工业大学学报(自然科学版)2021,43,6:2
14Erythropoietin therapy after out-of-hospital cardiac arrest:A systematic review and meta-analysis显示文摘AIM To assess safety and efficacy of early erythropoietin(Epo) administration in patients with out-of-hospital cardiac arrest(OHCA).METHODS A systematic literature search was performed using PubM ed,MEDLINE,EMBASE,EBSCO,CINAHL,Web of Science and Cochrane databases,of all studies published from the inception through October 10,2016.Inclusion criteria included:(1) Adult humans with OHCA and successful sustained return of spontaneous circulation;and(2) studies including mortality/brain death,acute thrombotic events as their end points.Primary efficacyoutcome was 'brain death or Cerebral Performance Category(CPC) score of 5'.Secondary outcomes were 'CPC score 1,and 2-4','overall thrombotic events' and 'acute coronary stent thrombosis'.RESULTS We analyzed a total of 606 participants(n = 276 received Epo and n = 330 with standard of care alone) who experienced OHCA enrolled in 3 clinical trials.No significant difference was observed between the Epo and no Epo group in brain death or CPC score 5(OR = 0.77;95%CI:0.42-1.39),CPC score 1(OR = 1.16,95%CI:0.82-1.64),and CPC score 2-4(OR = 0.77,95%CI:0.44-1.36).Epo group was associated with increased thrombotic complications(OR = 2.41,95%CI:1.26-4.62) and acute coronary stent thrombosis(OR = 8.16,95%CI:1.39-47.99).No publication bias was observed.CONCLUSION Our study demonstrates no improvement in neurological outcomes and increased incidence of thrombotic events and acute coronary stent thrombosis in OHCA patients who were treated with Epo in addition to standard therapy.Rahul Chaudhary Jalaj Garg Parasuram Krishnamoorthy Kevin Bliden Neeraj Shah Nayan Agarwal Rahul Gupta Abhishek Sharma Karl B Kern Nainesh C Patel Paul Gurbel 2017World Journal of Cardiology2017,9,12:2

16Celastrol enhances transcription factor EB (TFEB)-mediated autophagy and mitigates Tau pathology:Implications for Alzheimer's disease therapy显示文摘Alzheimer's disease(AD),characterized by the accumulation of protein aggregates including phosphorylated Tau aggregates,is the most common neurodegenerative disorder with limited therapeutic agents.Autophagy plays a critical role in the degradation of phosphorylated Tau aggregates,and transcription factor EB(TFEB)is a master regulator of autophagy and lysosomal biogenesis.Thus,small-molecule autophagy enhancers targeting TFEB hold promise for AD therapy.Here,we found that celastrol,an active ingredient isolated from the root extracts of Tripterygium wilfordii(Lei Gong Teng in Chinese)enhanced TFEB-mediated autophagy and lysosomal biogenesis in vitro and in mouse brains.Importantly,celastrol reduced phosphorylated Tau aggregates and attenuated memory dysfunction and cognitive deficits in P301S Tau and 3xTg mice,two commonly used AD animal models.Mechanistical studies suggest that TFEB-mediated autophagy-lysosomal pathway is responsible for phosphorylated Tau degradation in response to celastrol.Overall,our findings indicate that Celastrol is a novel TFEB activator that promotes the degradation of phosphorylated Tau aggregates and improves memory in AD animal models.Therefore,Celastrol shows potential as a novel agent for the treatment and/or prevention of AD and other tauopathies.Chuanbin Yang Chengfu Su Ashok Iyaswamy Senthil Kumar Krishnamoorthi Zhou Zhu Sichang Yang Benjamin Chunkit Tong Jia Liu Sravan G.Sreenivasmurthy Xinjie Guan Yuxuan Kan Aston Jiaxi Wu Alexis Shiying Huang Jieqiong Tan Kingho Cheung Juxian Song Min Li 2022Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2022,12,4:2
17Seroprevalence of HCV and its co-infection with HBV and HIV among liver disease patients of South Tamil Nadu显示文摘AIM:To determine the seroprevalence of hepatitis C virus(HCV) and its co-infection with hepatitis B virus(HBV),hepatitis delta agent(HDV) and human immunodeficiency virus(HIV) among liver disease patients of south Tamil Nadu. METHODS:A total of 1012 samples comprising 512 clinically diagnosed cases of liver disease patients and 500 apparently healthy age and sex matched individuals were screened for Hepatitis C virus(anti HCV and HCV RNA) ,Hepatitis B virus(HBsAg),Hepatitis delta agent(anti HDV) and Human immuno virus(antibodies to HIV-1 and HIV-2) using commercially available enzyme linked immunosorbent assay kits.HCV RNA wasdetected by RT-PCR.Liver function tests like ALT,AST,GGT,ALP,bilirubin and albumin were also studied. RESULTS:The seroprevalence of HCV was found to be 5.6%among liver disease patients by ELISA.27/512,49/512 and 12/512 patients were positive for HIV,HBV &HDV respectively.Co-infection of HCV&HBV was found in 8 patients,with 6 for HCV&HIV and 4 for HCV,HBV&HIV co-infections.Sex-wise analysis showed that HIV,HCV&HBV and HCV&HIV co-infection was high among females whereas for HBV it was high in males. The mean ALT and AST in HCV positive cases were 42.1±8.3 and 49±10.1.In people co-infected with HCV&HBV or HCV&HIV or HCV,HBV&HIV the mean ALT of 58.0±03.16,56.78±4.401 and 64.37±4.01 respectively.
