| 1 | Preliminary 3D printing of large inclined-shaped alumina ceramic parts by direct ink writing显示文摘Three dimensional(3D)printing technology by direct ink writing(DIW)is an innovative complex shaping technology,possessing advantages of flexibility in fabrication,high efficiency,low cost,and environmental-friendliness.Herein,3D printing of complex alumina ceramic parts via DIW using thermally induced solidification with carrageenan swelling was investigated.The rheological properties of the slurry under different thermally-induced modes were systematically studied.The solidification properties of thermally-induced pastes with varying contents of carrageenan were optimized.The experimental results showed that the optimized paste consisting of 0.4 wt%carrageenan could be rapidly solidified at about 55℃,which could print inclined-plane more than 60°in vertical without support,resulting in better homogeneity of the green body.A nearly pore-free structure was obtained after sintering at 1600℃ for 2 h. | Liangliang YANG Xiaojun ZENG Allah DITTA Bo FENG Lizhong SU Yue ZHANG | 2020 | Journal of Advanced Ceramics2020,9,3: | 9 |

| 4 | Sediment dynamics in an offshore tidal channel in the southern Yellow Sea显示文摘The geomorphology of the southern Yellow Sea(SYS) is characterized by offshore radial sand ridges(RSR).An offshore tidal channel(KSY Channel) is located perpendicular to the coast,comprised of a main and a tributary channel separated by a submarine sand ridge(KSY Sand Ridge) extending seaward.In order to investigate the interactions among water flow,sediment transport,and topography,current velocity and suspended sediment concentration(SSC) were observed at 11 anchor stations along KSY Channel in RSR during a spring tide cycle.High resolution bottom topography was also surveyed.Residual currents and tidally averaged suspended sediment fluxes were calculated and analyzed by using the decomposition method.Results suggested that the water currents became stronger landward but with asymmetrical current speed and temporal duration of flood and ebb tides.Residual currents showed landward water transport in the nearshore channel and a clockwise circulation around the KSY Sand Ridge.Tidally-averaged SSC also increased landward along the channel.The main mechanisms controlling SSC variations were resuspension and horizontal advection,with spatial and temporal variations in the channel,which also contributed to sediment redistribution between channels and sand ridges.Residual flow transport and the tidal pumping effect dominated the suspended sediment flux in the KSY Channel.The KSY Sand Ridge had a potential southward migration due to the interaction between water flow,sediment transport,and topography. | Wen-fei NI Ya-ping WANG Xin-qing ZOU Ji-cai ZHANG Jian-hua GAO | 2014 | International Journal of Sediment Research2014,29,2: | 1 |
| 5 | A computational study of the role of particle size standard deviation on the collision frequency in differential settling显示文摘<正>The results of a simple computational model for differential settling are presented illustrating the significant role that particle size distribution plays in collision frequency and sedimentation rate of particles in a quiescent environment. The model tracks a large number of particles(order 10~5) with log-normally distributed diameters,as they settle at their Stokes settling velocities.Particle collisions are detected and result in larger particles that fall more rapidly.A number of simplifying assumptions are made in the model in order to avoid empirical correlations for phenomena such as collision efficiency and particle shape.These simplifying assumptions were needed to isolate and quantify the role of the particle size distribution.Simulated concentration profiles indicate that,even in the absence of collisions, the standard deviation(σ_D) of the particle size strongly influences the bulk mass settling rate as,for largerσ_D, more mass is concentrated in larger,faster falling particles.The collision frequency is also a strong function ofσ_D. For a given mass concentration the collision frequency first increases linearly with increasingσ_D as greater variation in particle size leads to greater variation in particle velocity,and shorter times for particles to catch each other.For largerσ_D more mass is concentrated in larger particles,so,for a given mass concentration,there are fewer particles per unit volume,increasing the mean distance between the particles and reducing the collision frequency.The implications of these results for sedimentation measurement using optical attenuation techniques are discussed. | C. | 7 | Simulation of particles settling in power-law fluids by combined lattice Boltzmann-smoothed profile methods显示文摘In the current study, the settling, interaction, drafting, kissing, and tumbling of two identical and nonidentical circular particles were simulated in a two-dimensional box in shear-thinning, Newtonian,and shear-thickening fluids by using the combined lattice Boltzmann-smoothed profile methods.Furthermore, the drag coefficient of one particle settling for different power-law indexes and Archimedes numbers was calculated. Also, the effect of the diameter ratio of the two particle pairs was considered during settling. The developed method was validated by simulating the settling of one particle and two identical particles in a Newtonian fluid. To consider two non-identical particles, two cases were examined. In Case A, the larger particle was above the smaller one and in the Case B, the smaller particle was above the larger one. The results showed that the two non-identical particles were separated more easily than the identical ones. In the settling of two particles under the same Archimedes number, the drafting and kissing time considerably increased by changing the non-Newtonian fluid behavior from a shearthinning one to a shear-thickening one.
