1Pancreatic trauma: A concise review显示文摘Traumatic injury to the pancreas is rare and difficult to diagnose.In contrast,traumatic injuries to the liver,spleen and kidney are common and are usually identified with ease by imaging modalities.Pancreatic injuries are usually subtle to identify by different diagnostic imaging modalities,and these injuries are often overlooked in cases with extensive multiorgan trauma.The most evident findings of pancreatic injury are posttraumatic pancreatitis with blood,edema,and soft tissue infiltration of the anterior pararenal space.The alterations of post-traumatic pancreatitis may not be visualized within several hours following trauma as they are time dependent.Delayed diagnoses of traumatic pancreatic injuries are associated with high morbidity and mortality.Imaging plays an important role in diagnosis of pancreatic injuries because early recognition of the disruption of the main pancreatic duct is important.We reviewed our experience with the use of various imaging modalities for diagnosis of blunt pancreatic trauma.Uma Debi Ravinder Kaur Kaushal Kishor Prasad Saroj Kant Sinha Anindita Sinha Kartar Singh 2013World Journal of Gastroenterology2013,19,47:26
2Projected drought conditions in Northwest China with CMIP6 models under combined SSPs and RCPs for 2015—2099显示文摘Northwest China is one of the most arid regions in the world and has experienced intriguing climate warming and humidification.Nonetheless,future climate conditions in Northwest China still remain uncertain.In this study,we applied an ensemble of the 12 latest model simulations of the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project Phase 6(CMIP6)to assess future drought conditions until 2099 in Northwest China,as inferred from the Palmer Drought Severity Index(PDSI).Future drought conditions were projected under three climate change scenarios through the combination of shared socioeconomic pathways(SSPs)and representative concentration pathways(RCPs),namely,SSP126(SSP1+RCP2.6,a green development pathway),SSP245(SSP2+RCP4.5,an intermediate development pathway),and SSP585(SSP5+RCP8.5,a high development pathway).For 2015-2099,drought severity showed no trend under SSP126,in contrast,for the SSP245 and SSP585 scenarios,a rapid increase during 2015-2099 was observed,especially under SSP585.We also found that the drought frequency in Northwest China under SSP585 was generally lower than that under SSP126 and SSP245,although the drought duration under SSP585 tended to be longer.These findings suggest the green development pathway in drought mitigation and adaptation strategies in Northwest China,an arid and agricultural region along the Silk Road.LI Su-Yuan MIAO Li-Juan JIANG Zhi-Hong WANG Guo-Jie GNYAWALI Kaushal Raj ZHANG Jing ZHANG Hui FANG Ke HE Yu LI Chun 2020Advances in Climate Change Research2020,11,3:14

6Study on Passive Immunity:time of Vaccination in Kids Born to Goats Vaccinated Against Peste des petits ruminants显示文摘In this study,the decay of maternal peste des petits ruminants virus(PPRV) antibodies in kids born to goats vaccinated with Asian lineage IV PPR vaccine and the efficacy of passive immunity against PPRV was assessed to determine the appropriate period for vaccination in kids.Serum samples collected from kids born to vaccinated,unvaccinated and infected goats at different time intervals were tested by PPR competitive ELISA and serum neutralization test(SNT).Maternal antibodies in kids were detectable up to 6 months with a decline trend from the third month onwards and receded below the protective level by the fourth month.The kid with an SN titre of 1:8 at the time of immunization showed significant PPRV specific antibody response(percentage inhibition of 76;SN titers >1:16),when tested on 21 day post-vaccination and was completely protected from infection upon virulent PPRV challenge.Similarly,the kid with 1:8 SN titers was completely protected from PPR infection on active challenge.Therefore,PPR vaccination is recommended in kids,aged 4 months and born to immunized or exposed goats.This could be a suitable period to avoid window of susceptibility in kids to PPRV and the effort to eliminate PPR infection from susceptible populations.Vinayagamurthy Balamurugan Arnab Sen Gnanavel Venkatesan Kaushal Kishor Rajak Veerakyathappa Bhanuprakash Raj Kumar Singh 2012Virologica Sinica2012,27,4:5

10Gastric conduit perforation显示文摘As patients with carcinoma of the esophagus live longer, complications associated with the use of a gastric conduit are increasing. Ulcers form in the gastric conduit in 6.6% to 19.4% of patients. There are a few reports of perforation of a gastric conduit in the English literature. Almost all of these were associated with serious complications. We report a patient who developed a tension pneumothorax consequent to spontaneous perforation of an ulcer in the gastric conduit 7 years after the index surgery in a patient with carcinoma of the gastroesophageal junction. He responded well to conservative management. Complications related to a gastric conduit can be because of multiple factors. Periodic endoscopic surveillance of gastric conduits should be considered as these are at a higher risk of ulcer formation than a normal stomach. Long term treatment with proton pump inhibitors may decrease complications. 11Traumatic brain injury:A case-based review显示文摘BACKGROUND:Traumatic brain injuries are common and costly to hospital systems.Most of the guidelines on management of traumatic brain injuries are taken from the Brain Trauma Foundation Guidelines.This is a review of the current literature discussing the evolving practice of traumatic brain injury.DATA SOURCES:A literature search using multiple databases was performed for articles published through September 2012 with concentration on meta-analyses,systematic reviews,and randomized controlled trials.RESULTS:The focus of care should be to minimize secondary brain injury by surgically decompressing certain hematomas,maintain systolic blood pressure above 90 mmHg,oxygen saturations above 93%,euthermia,intracranial pressures below 20 mmHg,and cerebral perfusion pressure between 60-80 mmHg.CONCLUSION:Much is still unknown about the management of traumatic brain injury.The current practice guidelines have not yet been sufficiently validated,however equipoise is a major issue when conducting randomized control trials among patients with traumatic brain injury.Liza Victoria S Escobedo Joseph Habboushe Haytham Kaafarani George Velmahos Kaushal Shah Jarone Lee 2013World Journal of Emergency Medicine2013,4,4:4

143D CFD validation of invert trap efficiency for sewer solid management using VOF model显示文摘Earlier investigators have numerically carried out performance analysis of the invert trap fitted in an open channel using the stochastic discrete phase model(DPM) by assuming the open channel flow to be closed conduit flow under pressure and assuming zero shear stress at the top wall.This is known as the fixed lid model.By assuming the top wall to be a shear free wall,they have been able to show that the velocity distribution looks similar to that of an open channel flow with zero velocity at the bottom and maximum velocity at the top,representing the free water surface,but no information has been provided for the pressure at the free water surface.Because of this assumption,the validation of the model in predicting the trap efficiency has performed significantly poorly.In addition,the free water surface subject to zero gauge pressure cannot be modeled using the fixed lid model because there is no provision of extra space in the form of air space for the fluctuating part of the water surface profile.It can.however,be modeled using the volume of fluid(VOF) model because the VOF model is the appropriate model for open channel or free surface flow.Therefore,in the present study,three-dimensional(3D) computational fluid dynamics(CFD) modeling with the VOF model,which considers open channel flow with a free water surface,along with the stochastic DPM.was used to model the trap efficiency of an invert trap fitted in an open rectangular channel.The governing mathematical flow equations of the VOF model were solved using the ANSYS Fluent 14.0 software,reproducing the experimental conditions exactly.The results show that the 3D CFD predictions using the VOF model closely fit the experimental data for glass bead particles.Mohammad Mohsin Deo Raj Kaushal 2016Water Science and Engineering2016,9,2:3
15Comparison of two-and three-dimensional modeling of invert trap for sewer solid management显示文摘In the present study,five different invert trap configurations(rectangular with and without lids on both sides;trapezoidal,trapezoidal with rectangular base and rectangular with trapezoidal base with lids on both sides) were simulated for both two-dimensional(2D) and three-dimensional(3D) flow conditions for three sediment types(sand,styrocell and plastic beads) at six flow rates(0.35,0.70,1.05,1.35,4.55 and 9.95 L/s) for each trap.Computational fluid dynamics(CFD)-based modeling using FLUENT software with Renormalization Group(RNG) k-ε model along with discrete phase model(DPM) were used in the simulations.A hexagonal/tetrahedral and map-type non-uniform grid was chosen to discretize the entire computational domain and a control volume finite difference method was used to solve the governing equations.The flow rates selected in the present study cover the entire range of flow rate expected for dry weather and monsoon.The simulation is capable of differentiating between 2D and 3D modeling of particle trajectories,the effects of flow rate and trap geometry on flow patterns developed in the trap.The sediment retention ratio for 2D is higher than that for 3D modeling for all flow conditions,particle types and model geometry due to inclusion of lateral effects in 3D modeling.The invert trap having rectangular shape with trapezoidal base is found to be the most efficient configuration in both 2D and 3D modeling.Tsewang Thinglas Deo Raj Kaushal 2008Particuology2008,6,3:2

17Classification of features selected through Optimum Index Factor (OIF) for improving classification accuracy显示文摘The present investigation was performed to determine if the features selected through Optimum Index Factor (OIF) could provide improved classification accuracy of the various categories on the satellite images of the individual years as well as stacked images of two different years as compared to all the features considered together. Further, in order to determine if there occurs increase in the classification accuracy of the different categories with corresponding increase in the OIF values of the features extracted from both the individual years' and stacked images, we performed linear regression between the producer's accuracy (PA) of the various categories with the OIF values of the different combinations of the features. The investigations demonstrated that there occurs significant improvement in the PA of two impervious categories viz. moderate built-up and low density built-up determined from the classification of the bands and principal components associated with the highest OIF value as compared to all the bands and principal components for both the individual years' and stacked images respectively. Regression analyses exhibited positive trends between the regression coeffi- cients and OIF values for the various categories determined for the individual years' and stacked images respectively signifying the prevalence of direct relationship between the increase in the information content with corresponding increase in the OIF values.
