| 1 | 3D CFD validation of invert trap efficiency for sewer solid management using VOF model显示文摘Earlier investigators have numerically carried out performance analysis of the invert trap fitted in an open channel using the stochastic discrete phase model(DPM) by assuming the open channel flow to be closed conduit flow under pressure and assuming zero shear stress at the top wall.This is known as the fixed lid model.By assuming the top wall to be a shear free wall,they have been able to show that the velocity distribution looks similar to that of an open channel flow with zero velocity at the bottom and maximum velocity at the top,representing the free water surface,but no information has been provided for the pressure at the free water surface.Because of this assumption,the validation of the model in predicting the trap efficiency has performed significantly poorly.In addition,the free water surface subject to zero gauge pressure cannot be modeled using the fixed lid model because there is no provision of extra space in the form of air space for the fluctuating part of the water surface profile.It can.however,be modeled using the volume of fluid(VOF) model because the VOF model is the appropriate model for open channel or free surface flow.Therefore,in the present study,three-dimensional(3D) computational fluid dynamics(CFD) modeling with the VOF model,which considers open channel flow with a free water surface,along with the stochastic DPM.was used to model the trap efficiency of an invert trap fitted in an open rectangular channel.The governing mathematical flow equations of the VOF model were solved using the ANSYS Fluent 14.0 software,reproducing the experimental conditions exactly.The results show that the 3D CFD predictions using the VOF model closely fit the experimental data for glass bead particles. | Mohammad Mohsin Deo Raj Kaushal | 2016 | Water Science and Engineering2016,9,2: | 3 |

| 3 | Lipid profile in children with coronary artery disease in Sindh,Pakistan显示文摘AIM:To evaluate lipid profile in children with coronary artery disease(CAD)in Hyderabad,Sindh,Pakistan.METHODS:The study included 100 children(6-15years),of which 43 were children of young parents(one or both)with recognized CAD,while the other 57 were children with no evidence of CAD(controls).All were evaluated for fasting blood lipid profile.Blood samples were collected from patients with CAD and healthy controls and analysis of the levels of lipid profile were carried out using a kit method on Microlab 300.RESULTS:Children with CAD had significantly higher levels of total serum cholesterol and triglycerides and decreased levels of high density lipoprotein and low density lipoprotein compared to children in the control group.Systolic and diastolic blood pressures were significantly higher,without any significant difference.CONCLUSION:CAD risk factors are significant regarding abnormal lipid levels.Genetic tendency seems to be important in the development of CAD in children. | Saira Baloch Bikha Ram Devrajani Mohsin Ali Baloch Mohammad Ali Pir | 2014 | World Journal of Cardiology2014,6,7: | 0 |
| 4 | Liquid-phase aerobic oxidation of benzyl alcohol catalyzed by mechanochemically synthesized manganese oxide显示文摘Benzyl alcohol oxidation by molecular oxygen using solid manganese oxide as a catalyst and n-heptane as the solvent was studied in the liquid phase. The catalyst was synthesized by a simple mechanochemical process at room temperature and was characterized by different physical methods. The catalyst was highly active and 100% selective for benzyl alcohol conversion to benzaldehyde. The solid catalyst can be recovered from the reaction mixture by simple filtration and can be re-used. | 5 | An Unsupervised Writer Identification Based on Generating Clusterable Embeddings显示文摘The writer identification system identifies individuals based on their handwriting is a frequent topic in biometric authentication and verification systems.Due to its importance,numerous studies have been conducted in various languages.Researchers have established several learning methods for writer identification including supervised and unsupervised learning.However,supervised methods require a large amount of annotation data,which is impossible in most scenarios.On the other hand,unsupervised writer identification methods may be limited and dependent on feature extraction that cannot provide the proper objectives to the architecture and be misinterpreted.This paper introduces an unsupervised writer identification system that analyzes the data and recognizes the writer based on the inter-feature relations of the data to resolve the uncertainty of the features.A pairwise architecturebased Autoembedder was applied to generate clusterable embeddings for handwritten text images.Furthermore,the trained baseline architecture generates the embedding of the data image,and the K-means algorithm is used to distinguish the embedding of individual writers.The proposed model utilized the IAM dataset for the experiment as it is inconsistent with contributions from the authors but is easily accessible for writer identification tasks.In addition,traditional evaluation metrics are used in the proposed model.Finally,the proposed model is compared with a few unsupervised models,and it outperformed the state-of-the-art deep convolutional architectures in recognizing writers based on unlabeled data. | M.F.Mridha Zabir Mohammad Muhammad Mohsin Kabir Aklima Akter Lima Sujoy Chandra Das Md Rashedul Islam Yutaka Watanobe | 2023 | Computer Systems Science & Engineering2023,46,8: | 0 |
