| 1 | Retrospective analysis of extra-gastrointestinal stromal tumors显示文摘AIM:To investigate the clinicopathologic features of patients with extra-gastrointestinal stromal tumors(EGISTs)in South Korea.METHODS:A total of 51 patients with an EGIST were identified.The clinicopathologic features,including sex,age,location,tumor size,histology,mitotic rate,immunohistochemical features,genetic status and survival data,were analyzed.RESULTS:The median age was 55 years(range:29-80years),and male:female ratio was 1:1.04.The most common site was in the mesentery(n=15)followed by the retroperitoneum(n=13)and omentum(n=8).The median tumor size was 9.0 cm(range:2.6-30.0cm)and the median mitotic rate was 5.0/50HPF.(1/50-185/50).KIT was analyzed in 16,which revealed 10cases with wild-type KIT and 6 cases with an exon 11mutation.Among 51 patients,31 patients had undergone surgery,and 10 had unresectable disease and had taken palliative imatinib,which resulted in 22.7 mo of progression-free survival.Of the patients who had undergone surgery,18 did not take adjuvant imatinib,and 8 of these were categorized as'high risk'according to the risk criteria.However,the relapse-free survival was not different(P=0.157)between two groups.CONCLUSION:Because the biologic behaviors of GISTs differ according to the location of the tumor,a more stratified strategy is required for managing EGISTs including incorporation of molecular features. | Jun Ho Yi Byeong-Bae Park Jung Hun Kang In Gyu Hwang Dong Bok Shin Sun Jin Sym Hee Kyung Ahn Soon Il Lee Do Hyoung Lim Keon Woo Park Young-Woong Won Sung Hee Lim Se Hoon Park | 2015 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2015，21，6： | 9 |

| 3 | Splenic hamartoma: A case report and review of the literature显示文摘Splenic hamartoma is a rare benign malformation, composed of an anomalous mixture of normal splenic elements, often found incidentally while working up other complaints or at autopsy. A splenic mass was incidentally found while evaluating the effects of a traffic accident in a 63-year-old woman. Abdominal computed tomography revealed a well-defined splenic mass with rim enhancement. The patient underwent splenectomy. The resected spleen contained a well-defined mass lesion measuring 3.5 cm × 3.0 cm. Microscopic examination revealed disorganized slit-like vascular channels lined by plump endothelial cells without atypia. The cells lining the vascular channels were positive for CD8, CD31, CD34 and vimentin. Endothelial cells that are positive for CD8 are a key feature that differentiates hamartoma from other vascular lesions of the spleen. | 4 | Possible negative influences of increasing content of cerium on activity and hydrothermal stability of Rh/ceria-zirconia three-way catalysts显示文摘The activity and hydrothermal stability of the Rh/Ce_(x)Zr_(1-x)O_(2)(x=0,0.05,0.3,0.5) model three-way catalysts for gasoline vehicle emissions control were investigated in this work.Among the Rh/Ce_(x)Zr_(1-x)O_(2) samples with different Ce/Zr ratios,the Rh/ZrO_(2) sample exhibits a significantly better activity and hydrothermal stability than the rest of the samples.The impacts of having more Ce components in the Rh/Ce_(x)Zr_(1-x)O_(2) catalysts are associated with the strong Rh-O-Ce interaction that tends to over stabilize the rhodium species.A significant amount of such rhodium atoms can be found in the bulk of the support oxides after a hydrothermal aging at 1050℃ with 10% H_(2)O in air for 12 h.Differently,the sintering of rhodium on the surface of Rh/ZrO_(2) catalysts is the main reason for the catalyst deactivation during the hydrothermal aging.These findings provide an example where high dispersion of supported metal induced by strong metal-support interactions does not necessarily lead to high catalytic activity. | Tianming Huang Meiqing Shen Guanghao Cheng Yunhao Wang Jianqiang Wang Wei Li Se HOh Gongshin Qi Ming Yang Jun Wang | 2021 | Journal of Rare Earths2021，39，7： | 3 |
| 5 | Clinicopathologic significance of GLUT1 expression and its correlation with Apaf-1 in colorectal adenocarcinomas显示文摘AIM:To investigate the role of glucose transporter 1 (GLUT1) expression in colorectal carcinogenesis and evaluate the correlation with clinicopathological parameters and apoptosis-activating factor-1 (Apaf-1) expression in colorectal adenocarcinomas. METHODS:We used tissue microarrays consisting of 26 normal mucosa,50 adenomas,515 adenocarcinomas,and 127 metastatic lesions. Medical records were reviewed and clinicopathological analysis was performed. RESULTS:GLUT1 expression was absent in normal mucosa and low or moderately apparent in 19 cases (38.0%) of 50 adenomas. However,GLUT1 expression was detected in 423 (82.1%) of 515 adenocarcinomas and in 96 (75.6%) of 127 metastatic lesions. GLUT1 expression was significantly correlated with female gender (P = 0.009),non-mucinous tumor type (P = 0.045),poorer differentiation (P = 0.001),lymph node metastasis (P < 0.001),higher AJCC and Dukes stage (P < 0.001 and P < 0.001,respectively). There was a significant inverse correlation between GLUT1 expression and Apaf-1 expression (P = 0.001). In univariate survival analysis,patients with GLUT1 expression demonstrated poor overall survival and disease-free survival (P = 0.047 and P = 0.021,respectively,log-rank test). CONCLUSION:GLUT1 expression was frequently increased in adenocarcinomas and metastatic lesions. | 8 | Bee venom phospholipase A2 ameliorates amyloidogenesis and neuroinflammation through inhibition of signal transducer and activator of transcription-3 pathway in Tg2576 mice显示文摘Background:Neuroinflammation and accumulation ofβ-amyloid(Aβ)play a significant role in the onset and progression of Alzheimer’s disease(AD).Our previous study demonstrated that signal transducer and activator of transcription-3(STAT3)plays a major role in neuroinflammation and amyloidogenesis.Methods:In the present study,we investigated the inhibitory effect of bee venom phospholipase A2(bvPLA2)on memory deficiency in Tg2576 mice,which demonstrate genetic characteristics of AD and the mechanism of its action at the cellular and animal level.For in vivo study,we examined the effect of bvPLA2 on improving memory by conducting several behavioral tests with the administration of bvPLA2(1 mg/kg)to Tg2576 mice.For in vitro study,we examined the effect of bvPLA2 on amyloidogenesis and neuroinflammation by treating bvPLA2 on LPSactivated BV2 cells.Results:We found that bvPLA2 alleviated memory impairment in Tg2576 mice,as demonstrated in the behavioral tests assessing memory.In the bvPLA2-treated group,Aβ,amyloid precursor protein(APP),and β-secretase 1(BACE1)levels and β-secretase activity were significantly decreased.Expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines and inflammation-related proteins decreased in the brain of bvPLA2-treated group,whereas anti-inflammatory cytokines increased.In addition,bvPLA2 reduced STAT3 phosphorylation in the brains of the bvPLA2-treated group.At the cellular level,bvPLA2 inhibits production of nitric oxide,pro-inflammatory cytokines,and inflammation-related proteins including p-STAT3.Additionally,bvPLA2 inhibits the production of Aβin cultured BV-2 cells.Results from the docking experiment,pull-down assay,and the luciferase assay show that bvPLA2 directly binds STAT3 and,thus,regulates gene expression levels.Moreover,when the STAT3 inhibitor and bvPLA2 were administered together,the anti-amyloidogenic and anti-inflammatory effects were further enhanced than when they were administered alone.Conclusion:These results suggest that bvPLA2 could restore memory by inhibiting the accumulation of Aβ and inflammatory responses via blockage of STAT3 activity. | Hyeon Joo Ham Sang-Bae Han Jaesuk Yun In Jun Yeo Young Wan Ham Se Hyun Kim Pil-Hoon Park Dong-Young Choi Jin Tae Hong | 2019 | Translational Neurodegeneration2019，8，1： | 1 |

| 11 | Phytogenic feed additives alleviate pathogenic Escherichia coli-induced intestinal damage through improving barrier integrity and inhibiting inflammation in weaned pigs显示文摘Background:This study was conducted to investigate the effects of each phytogenic feed additive(PFA;PFA1,bitter citrus extract;PFA2,a microencapsulated blend of thymol and carvacrol;PFA3,a mixture of bitter citrus extract,thymol,and carvacrol;PFA4,a premixture of grape seed,grape marc extract,green tea,and hops;PFA5,fenugreek seed powder)on the growth performance,nutrient digestibility,intestinal morphology,and immune response in weaned pigs infected with Escherichia coli(E.coli).Results:A total of 634-week-old weaned pigs were placed in individual metabolic cages and assigned to seven treatment groups.The seven treatments were as follows:1)NC;basal diet without E.coli challenge,2)PC;basal diet with E.coli challenge,3)T1;PC+0.04%PFA1,4)T2;PC+0.01%PFA2,5)T3;PC+0.10%PFA3,6)T4;PC+0.04%PFA4,7)T5;PC+0.10%PFA5.The experiments lasted in 21 d,including 7 d before and 14 d after the first E.coli challenge.In the E.coli challenge treatments,all pigs were orally inoculated by dividing a total of 10 mL of E.coli F18 for 3 consecutive days.The PFA-added groups significantly increased(P<0.05)average daily gain and feed efficiency and decreased(P<0.05)the fecal score at d 0 to 14 post-inoculation(PI).Tumor necrosis factorαwas significantly lower(P<0.05)in the PFA-added groups except for T1 in d 14 PI compared to the PC treatment.The T3 had a higher(P<0.05)immunoglobulin G and immunoglobulin A concentration compared to the PC treatment at d 7 PI.Also,T3 showed significantly higher(P<0.05)villus height:crypt depth and claudin 1 expression in ileal mucosa,and significantly downregulated(P<0.05)the expression of calprotectin compared to the PC treatment.Conclusions:Supplementation of PFA in weaned pigs challenged with E.coli alleviated the negative effects of E.coli and improved growth performance.Among them,the mixed additive of bitter citrus extract,thymol,and carvacrol showed the most effective results,improving immune response,intestinal morphology,and expression of tight junctions. | Se Yeon Chang Min Ho Song Ji Hwan Lee Han Jin Oh Yong Ju Kim Jae Woo An Young Bin Go Dong Cheol Song Hyun AhCho Seung Yeol Cho Dong Jun Kim Mi Suk Kim Hyeun Bum Kim Jin Ho Cho | 2023 | Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology2023，14，1： | 1 |
