3Effects of vanadium(V)-substitution on the oxidative properties of α-Keggin-type heteropolyanion clusters——progress in DFT theoretical studies显示文摘The redox properties of α-Keggin-type heteropolyanion clusters [XM12O40]n-(X = Si,P; M = Mo,W) mainly depend on their constituent outer metal-oxygen cages {M12O36}. They act as 'reservoirs',through which the transfer and transition of electrons and protons may occur. At the atomic and molecular level,the redox properties of these clusters can be controlled and also tuned by modifying the metal M in the cages and the central heteroatom X of the clusters. Combined with relevant experimental results,this review summarizes our recent theoretical investigations of the effect of vanadium substitution on the redox properties of Keggin anion clusters. Theoretical modeling and calculation results showed that the oxidative ability of the modified species was increased by partial substitution of the cage M atoms of the Keggin clusters by vanadium atoms which have lower electronegativity. A linear correlation between the catalytic efficiency per vanadium atom and the microstructures of the vanadium(V)-substituted heteropolyanions [PVnMo12-nO40](3+n)-(n = 1-3) was established for the first time. This relationship may be suitable to interpret the catalytic behavior of the title compounds in the hydroxylation of benzene to phenol,and may also be used in understanding other reactions such as the oxidative dehydrogenation of isobutyric acid and the nitration of adamantine. 6From germline genome to highly fragmented somatic genome:genome-wide DNA rearrangement during the sexual process in ciliated protists显示文摘Genomes are incredibly dynamic within diverse eukaryotes and programmed genome rearrangements(PGR)play important roles in generating genomic diversity.However,genomes and chromosomes in metazoans are usually large in size which prevents our understanding of the origin and evolution of PGR.To expand our knowledge of genomic diversity and the evolutionary origin of complex genome rearrangements,we focus on ciliated protists(ciliates).Ciliates are single-celled eukaryotes with highly fragmented somatic chromosomes and massively scrambled germline genomes.PGR in ciliates occurs extensively by removing massive amounts of repetitive and selfish DNA elements found in the silent germline genome dur-ing development of the somatic genome.We report the partial germline genomes of two spirotrich ciliate species,namely Strombidium cf.sulcatum and Halteria grandinella,along with the most compact and highly fragmented somatic genome for S.cf.sulcatum.We provide the first insights into the genome rearrangements of these two species and compare these features with those of other ciliates.Our analyses reveal:(1)DNA sequence loss through evolution and during PGR in S.cf.sulcatum has combined to produce the most compact and efficient nanochromosomes observed to date;(2)the compact,transcriptome-like somatic genome in both species results from extensive removal of a relatively large number of shorter germline-specific DNA sequences;(3)long chromosome breakage site motifs are duplicated and retained in the somatic genome,revealing a complex model of chromosome fragmentation in spirotrichs;(4)gene scrambling and alternative pro-cessing are found throughout the core spirotrichs,offering unique opportunities to increase genetic diversity and regulation in this group.Liping Lyu Xue Zhang Yunyi Gao Tengteng Zhang Jinyu Fu Naomi A.Stover Feng Gao 2024Marine Life Science & Technology2024,6,1:0
7Incorporating Variation and Quality of the Underlying Effects in Meta-Analysis显示文摘This paper proposes a model to further explore the effects of the quality information and variation of the underlying effects on the summary effect measure in meta-analysis.A shape parameter is used in this model to quantify the asymmetry of the effect sizes of studies that are included.Estimation of the proposed model parameters is carried out by the Bayesian MCMC method.Performances of the resultant estimates are examined in the simulations and empirical case with data obtained from a total of 22 meta-analyses taken from three different designs.A conclusion would be drawn that it is advisable to take the proposed model,when quality information becomes available,in particular with a situation where the underlying effects approximately follow a normal distribution.If,however,the quality information is absent,the skew-normal distribution for random effect model should be adopted.FU Jinyu LIN Jinguan 2022Journal of Systems Science & Complexity2022,35,6:0

9The View of Micropropulsion Technology for China’s Advanced Small Platforms in Deep Space显示文摘In this paper,micropropulsion systems are analyzed in conjunction with the various mission requirements of China’s deep space exploration.As a great challenge facing the world,deep space exploration can be enabled only in a few countries with a success rate of around 50%.With the advancement of spacecraft and scientific instruments,it is now feasible to build small and low-cost spacecraft for a variety of deep space missions.As spacecraft become smaller,there is a need for proper micropropulsion systems.Examples of propulsion system selections for deep space exploration are discussed with a focus on products developed by Beijing Institute of Control Engineering(BICE).The requirements for propulsion systems are different in lunar/interplanetary exploration and gravitational wave detection.Chemical propulsion is selected for fast orbit transfer and electric propulsion for increasing scientific payloads.Cold gas propulsion and microelectric propulsion are good choices for space-based gravitational wave detection due to the capability of variable thrust output at the micro-Newton level.The paper also introduces the sub-1-U micropropulsion modules developed by BICE with satisfactory performance in flight tests,which are promising propulsion systems for small deep space platforms.A small probe with an electric sail propulsion system has been proposed for the future solar system boundary exploration of China.The electric sail serves as not only a propellant-free thruster but also a detector probing the properties of the space medium.Yanming Wei Hao Yan Xuhui Liu Yang Yu Jinyue Geng Tao Chen Tuoqu Fu Gaoshi Su Yu Hu Daoman Han 2022Space(Science & Technology)2022,,1:0

11Doublets of the unicellular organism Euplotes vannus(Alveolata,Ciliophora,Euplotida):the morphogenetic patterns of the ciliary and nuclear apparatuses associated with cell division显示文摘Ciliated protists are one of the most diverse and highly differentiated group among unicellular organisms.Doublets occur in ciliates when two cells fuse into a single individual.Doublets contain two major cellular components(either cell in a doublet)and have traditionally been considered as developmental anomalies.Nevertheless,doublets can divide or even conjugate effectively,which may represent dispersal forms of the life stages.In addition,morphogenesis,as an important process in the life cycle,will provide important insights into the complex differentiation mechanism and various physiological phenomena.However,morphogenetic studies focusing on doublets of ciliates are very limited,which has become an obstacle to understand their complete life history.Here we isolated a doublet strain from the marine species Euplotes vannus(Müller,1786)Diesing,1850 and investigated its morphogenetic events during asexual reproduction.Our results indicate that:(1)the opisthe’s oral primordium develops de novo beneath the cortex;(2)the frontoventral and transverse cirral anlagen,cirrus I/1,and marginal anlagen in both dividers develop de novo separately;(3)the dorsal kinety anlagen,the three rightmost ones of which produce three caudal cirri for the proter,occur within the parental structures in the mid-body region;(4)the opisthe acquires two caudal cirri,one from the end of each two rightmost kineties;and(5)there are two macronuclei and one micronucleus in the doublet and they divide amitotically and mitotically,respectively.Finally,we speculate that this special differentiation may be an adaptive form to adverse environments.Jinyu Fu Yong Chi Xiaoteng Lu Feng Gao Saleh A.Al-Farraj Giulio Petroni Jiamei Jiang 2022Marine Life Science & Technology2022,4,4:0
12Band-gap tunable(Ga_(x)In_(1−x))_(2)O_(3)layer grown by magnetron sputtering显示文摘Multicomponent oxide(Ga_(x)In_(1−x))_(2)O_(3)films are prepared on(0001)sapphire substrates to realize a tunable band-gap by magnetron sputtering technology followed by thermal annealing.The optical properties and band structure evolution over the whole range of compositions in ternary compounds(Ga_(x)In_(1−x))_(2)O_(3)are investigated in detail.The X-ray diffraction spectra clearly indicate that(Ga_(x)In_(1−x))_(2)O_(3)films with Ga content varying from 0.11 to 0.55 have both cubic and monoclinic structures,and that for films with Ga content higher than 0.74,only the monoclinic structure appears.The transmittance of all films is greater than 86%in the visible range with sharp absorption edges and clear fringes.In addition,a blue shift of ultraviolet absorption edges from 380 to 250 nm is noted with increasing Ga content,indicating increasing band-gap energy from 3.61 to 4.64 eV.The experimental results lay a foundation for the application of transparent conductive compound(Ga_(x)In_(1−x))_(2)O_(3)thin films in photoelectric and photovoltaic industry,especially in display,light-emitting diode,and solar cell applications.Fabi ZHANG Jinyu SUN Haiou LI Juan ZHOU Rong WANG Tangyou SUN Tao FU Gongli XIAO Qi LI Xingpeng LIU Xiuyun ZHANG Daoyou GUO Xianghu WANG Zujun QIN 2021Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering2021,22,10:0
13Gut microbiota-based pharmacokinetic-pharmacodynamic study and molecular mechanism of specnuezhenide in the treatment of colorectal cancer targeting carboxylesterase显示文摘Specnuezhenide(SNZ)is among the main components of Fructus Ligustri Lucidi,which has antiinflammation,anti-oxidation,and anti-tumor effect.The low bioavailability makes it difficult to explain the mechanism of pharmacological effect of SNZ.In this study,the role of the gut microbiota in the metabolism and pharmacokinetics characteristics of SNZ as well as the pharmacological meaning were explored.SNZ can be rapidly metabolized by the gut microbiome,and two intestinal bacterial metabolites of SNZ,salidroside and tyrosol,were discovered.In addition,carboxylesterase may be the main intestinal bacterial enzyme that mediates its metabolism.At the same time,no metabolism was found in the incubation system of SNZ with liver microsomes or liver homogenate,indicating that the gut microbiota is the main part involved in the metabolism of SNZ.In addition,pharmacokinetic studies showed that salidroside and tyrosol can be detected in plasma in the presence of gut microbiota.Interestingly,tumor development was inhibited in a colorectal tumor mice model administered orally with SNZ,which indicated that SNZ exhibited potential to inhibit tumor growth,and tissue distribution studies showed that salidroside and tyrosol could be distributed in tumor tissues.At the same time,SNZ modulated the structure of gut microbiota and fungal group,which may be the mechanism governing the antitumoral activity of SNZ.Furthermore,SNZ stimulates the secretion of short-chain fatty acids by intestinal flora in vitro and in vivo.In the future,targeting gut microbes and the interaction between natural products and gut microbes could lead to the discovery and development of new drugs.Hang Yu Hui Xu Xinyu Yang Zhengwei Zhang Jiachun Hu Jinyue Lu Jie Fu Mengmeng Bu Haojian Zhang Zhao Zhai Jingyue Wang Jiandong Jiang Yan Wang 2023Journal of Pharmaceutical Analysis2023,13,9:0
14Compact Real-time Simulator with Spatial-temporal Parallel Design for Large-scale Wind Farms显示文摘Real-time simulation of large-scale wind farms with detailed modeling can provide accurate insights into system transient behaviors,but entails challenges in computing resources.This paper develops a compact real-time simulator based on the field programmable gate array(FPGA)for large-scale wind farms,in which the spatial-temporal parallel design method is proposed to address the huge computation resource demand associated with detailed modeling.The wind farm is decoupled into several subsystems based on model consistency,and the electrical system and control system of each subsystem are solved in parallel.Both the module-level pipeline technique and superscalar pipeline technique are introduced to the wind farms’simulation to effectively improve the utilization of hardware resources.In case studies,real-time simulations of two modified wind farms are separately carried out on a single FPGA,including one with 13 permanent magnet synchronous generators under a time-step of 11µs,and the other with 30 squirrel-cage induction generators under a time-step of 8µs.Simulation tests,under different scenarios,are implemented to validate the numerical performance of the real-time simulator,and a comparison with the commercial tool PSCAD/EMTDC demonstrates the accuracy and effectiveness of the proposed design.Hao Fu Peng Li Xiaopeng Fu Jinyue Yan Zhiying Wang Kun Wang Jianzhong Wu Chengshan Wang 2023CSEE Journal of Power and Energy Systems2023,9,1:0

16Berberine ameliorates chronic kidney disease through inhibiting the production of gut-derived uremic toxins in the gut microbiota显示文摘At present,clinical interventions for chronic kidney disease are very limited,and most patients rely on dialysis to sustain their lives for a long time.However,studies on the gut—kidney axis have shown that the gut microbiota is a potentially effective target for correcting or controlling chronic kidney disease.This study showed that berberine,a natural drug with low oral availability,significantly ameliorated chronic kidney disease by altering the composition of the gut microbiota and inhibiting the production of gut-derived uremic toxins,including p-cresol.Furthermore,berberine reduced the content of pcresol sulfate in plasma mainly by lowering the abundance of g_Clostridium_sensu_stricto_1 and inhibiting the tyrosine—p-cresol pathway of the intestinal flora.Meanwhile,berberine increased the butyric acid producing bacteria and the butyric acid content in feces,while decreased the renal toxic trimethylamine N-oxide.These findings suggest that berberine may be a therapeutic drug with significant potential to ameliorate chronic kidney disease through the gut—kidney axis.Libin Pan Hang Yu Jie Fu Jiachun Hu Hui Xu Zhengwei Zhang Mengmeng Bu Xinyu Yang Haojian Zhang Jinyue Lu Jiandong Jiang Yan Wang 2023Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2023,13,4:0
