1Triglyceride levels and apolipoprotein E polymorphism in patients with acute pancreatitis显示文摘BACKGROUND:Hypertriglyceridemia is an unusual cause of acute pancreatitis and sometimes considered to be an epiphenomenon.This study aimed to investigate the clinical and analytical features and the APOE genotypes in patients with acute pancreatitis and severe hypertriglyceridemia.METHODS:We undertook a one-year,prospective study of patients with acute pancreatitis whose first laboratory analysis on admission to the emergency department included measurement of serum triglycerides.The APOE genotype was determined and the patients answered an established questionnaire within the first 24 hours concerning their alcohol consumption,the presence of co-morbidities and any medications being taken.The patients' progression,etiological diagnosis,hospital stay and clinical and radiological severity were all recorded.RESULTS:Hypertriglyceridemia was responsible for 7 of 133 cases of pancreatitis (5%);the remaining cases were of biliary (53%),idiopathic (26%),alcoholic (11%) or other (5%) origin.Compared with these remaining cases,the patients with hypertriglyceridemia were significantly younger,had more relapses,and more often had diabetes mellitus.They usually consumed alcohol or consumed it excessively on the days before admission.Also,the ε4 allele of the APOE gene was more common in this group (P<0.05).CONCLUSION:One of 20 episodes of acute pancreatitis is caused by hypertriglyceridemia and it is linked to genetic (ε4 allele) and comorbid factors such as diabetes and,especially,alcohol consumption.Radka Ivanova Susana Puerta Alfonso Garrido Ignacio Cueto Ana Ferro María José Ariza Andrés Cobos Pedro González-Santos Pedro Valdivielso 2012Hepatobiliary & Pancreatic Diseases International2012,11,1:26
2典型黑土区村级尺度侵蚀沟演变显示文摘侵蚀沟的演变是东北水土流失过程的重要方面。利用1968和2009年亚米级遥感影像,获取典型黑土区村级尺度的侵蚀沟分布、耕地垄向和土地利用数据,基于1∶1万地形图获取等高线、坡度、坡长和垄向坡度数据,在地理信息系统和遥感技术的支持下,分析典型黑土区41 a村级尺度侵蚀沟的动态变化及其影响因素。结果表明:1)41 a间,典型黑土区侵蚀沟密度有明显增加的趋势,基于分辨率为亚米级遥感影像解译的侵蚀沟密度较以往研究结果大幅增加;2)自然坡度0.25°~1.5°范围内为该区域侵蚀沟密度变化最大的区域,8°以上区域由于实施退耕还林措施,侵蚀沟密度降低;3)300~500 m坡长区域侵蚀沟密度出现极值;4)由于实施改垄措施,41 a后垄向坡度在0~0.25°范围内耕地面积增加,大于0.25°范围内耕地面积均减少。李浩 张兴义 刘爽 Yury Kravchenko Kateryna Ivanova 李续峰 陈强 2012中国水土保持科学2012,10,2:17

4Modelling of microbial enhanced oil recovery application using anaerobic gas-producing bacteria显示文摘Microbial enhanced oil recovery(MEOR) methods apply injection of bacteria to depleted oil reservoirs to produce oil, which had remained unrecovered after the conventional methods of production. The ability of thermophilic anaerobic bacteria to produce gas as the main mechanism in potential MEOR in high salinities of 70-100 g/L was investigated in this study. Maximum gas production of up to 350 mL per 700 mL of salty solution was produced at a salinity of 90 g/L stably during 2-4 days of experiment. The experimental results were upscaled to the Snorre Oilfield, Norway, and simulated using ECLIPSE software for 27 months. The best scenarios showed that the increase in oil recovery on average was at 21% and 17.8% respectively. This study demonstrated that anaerobic bacteria used in biogas plants could be an attractive candidate for MEOR implementation due to their ability to withstand high temperature and salinity, and produce gas in large volumes.Pavel Spirov Yanina Ivanova Svetlana Rudyk 2014Petroleum Science2014,11,2:4
5Association of the level of heteroplasmy of the 15059G>A mutation in the MT-CYB mitochondrial gene with essential hypertension显示文摘AIM: To examine whether the heteroplasmy level for 15059G>A mutation in the mitochondrial genome might be associated with essential hypertension. METHODS: This cross-sectional study involved 196 unrelated participants randomly selected from general population (90 males and 106 females) who underwent a regular medical check-up at the Institute for Ath-erosclerosis Research (Moscow, Russia). One hundred and twenty of them (61%) had essential hypertension, and 76 (39%) were apparently healthy normotensive persons. The level of heteroplasmy for 15059G>A mutation occurring in the coding region of cytochrome b gene (MT-CYB) of mtDNA isolated from the blood leukocytes, was quantified using DNA pyrosequencing method. RESULTS: The 15059G>A heteroplasmy level ranged between 4% and 83%, with a median level of 31%. Between the upper and lower quartiles of 15059G>A heteroplasmy distribution, significant differences were observed for patients' age, systolic blood pressure, and triglyceride levels. 15059G>A heteroplasmy correlated both with age (r = 0.331, P < 0.001) and the presence of hypertension (r = 0.228, P = 0.002). Regression analysis revealed that the age explains 12% variability of 15059G>A heteroplasmy, and hypertension independently explains more 5% variability. The 15059G>A heteroplasmy exceeding 31% was found to be significantly associated with a higher risk of essential hypertension (odds ratio 2.76; P (Fisher) 0.019]. The study participants with high 15059G>A heteroplasmy level were found to have significantly higher age (P < 0.001) and the prevalence of essential hypertension (P = 0.033), as compared to those with low 15059G>A heteroplasmy level. These observations suggested a positive correlation between the level of 15059G>A heteroplasmy and essential hypertension. 6Overproduction of reactive oxygen species–obligatory or not for induction of apoptosis by anticancer drugs显示文摘Many studies demonstrate that conventional anticancer drugs elevate intracellular level of reactive oxygen species(ROS) and alter redox-homeostasis of cancer cells. It is widely accepted that anticancer effect of these chemotherapeutics is due to induction of oxidative stress and ROS-mediated apoptosis in cancer. On the other hand, the harmful side effects of conventional anticancer chemotherapy are also due to increased production of ROS and disruption of redox-homeostasis of normal cells and tissues. This article describes the mechanisms for triggering and modulation of apoptosis through ROS-dependent and ROS-independent pathways. We try to answer the question: 'Is it possible to induce highly specific apoptosis only in cancer cells, without overproduction of ROS, as well as without harmful effects on normal cells and tissues?' 12Intimal pericytes as the second line of immune defence in atherosclerosis显示文摘Inflammation plays an essential role in the development of atherosclerosis. The initiation and growth of atherosclerotic plaques is accompanied by recruitment of inflammatory and precursor cells from the bloodstream and their differentiation towards pro-inflammatory phenotypes. This process is orchestrated by the production of a number of pro-inflammatory cytokines and chemokines. Human arterial intima consists of structurally distinct leaflets, with a proteoglycan-rich layer lying immediately below the endothelial lining. Recent studies reveal the important role of stellate pericyte-like cells(intimal pericytes) populating the proteoglycan-rich layer in the development of atherosclerosis. During the pathologic process, intimal pericytes may participate in the recruitment of inflammatory cells by producing signalling molecules and play a role in the antigen presentation. Intimal pericytes are also involved in lipid accumulation and the formation of foam cells.
