Serum uric acid and risk of incident diabetes in middle-aged and elderly Chinese adults: prospective cohort study显示文摘The association between serum uric acid and the risk of incident diabetes in Chinese adults remains unknown. This study aimed to investigate this association in a community-dwelling population aged≥40 years in Shanghai,China.Oral glucose tole3rance test was conducted during baseline and follow-up visits.Relative risk regression was utilized to examine the associations between baseline gender-specific serum uric acid levels and incident diabetes risk.A total of 613(10.3%)incident diabetes cases were identified during the follow-up visit after 4.5 years.Fasting plasma glucose, postload glucose, and glycated hemoglobin A1c during the follow-up visit progressively increased across the sex-specific quartiles of serum uric acid(all Ps<0.05).The incidence rate of diabetes increased across the quartiles of serum uric acid(7.43%,8.77%,11.47%,and 13.43%).Multivariate adjusted regression analysis revealed that individuals in the highest quartile had 1.36-fold increased risk of diabetes compared with those in the lowest quartile of serum uric acid(odds ratio(95%confidence interval)=1.36(1.06−1.73)).Stratified analysis indicated that the association was only observed in women.Accordingly, serum uric acid was associated with the increased risk of incident diabetes among middle-aged and elderly Chinese women.Di Cheng Chunyan Hu Rui Du Hongyan Qi Lin Lin Xueyan Wu Lina Ma Kui Peng Mian Li Min Xu Yu Xu Yufang Bi Weiqing Wang Yuhong Chen Jieli Lu 2020Frontiers of Medicine2020,14,6:3
Blue revolution for food security under carbon neutrality: A case from the water-saving and drought-resistance rice显示文摘The increasing concentration of greenhouse gases(GHGs)in Earth's atmosphere leads to global warming, which further causes a series of climate changes and does great harm to both human society and natural ecosystems.Agricultural GHG emissions, mainly in theform of methane(CH4)and nitrous oxide(N2O),areasignificantsourceofGHGs,accountingfor~14%total global GHGs(Zhang et al.,2022).One major source of agricultural GHGs is CH4 emissions from rice paddies, which is responsiblefor~10%-12%ofhuman-inducedCH4emissions(van Groenigen et al.,2013)and contributes~2.40%to the enhanced global warming effect(Zhang et al.,2022).The global warming potential of GHGs emissions from rice systems is roughly four times higher than either wheat or maize(Linquist et al.,2012).Hui Xia Xianxian Zhang Yi Liu Junguo Bi Xiaosong Ma Anning Zhang Hongyan Liu Liang Chen Sheng Zhou Huan Gao Kai Xu Haibin Wei Guolan Liu Feiming Wang Hongyang Zhao Xingxing Luo Danping Hou Qiaojun Lou Fangjun Feng Liguo Zhou Shoujun Chen Ming Yan Tianfei Li Mingshou Li LeiWang Zaochang Liu Xinqiao Yu HanweiMei Lijun Luo 2022Molecular Plant2022,15,9:3
Effects of orthographic neighborhood on reading in Chinese An fMRI study显示文摘BACKGROUND: Much research has focused on neighborhood size in alphabetic languages. Results have consistently demonstrated that the neighborhood effect is a stimulating factor in word reading. The present study addressed whether there are neighborhood effects in Chinese character reading. OBJECTIVE: To investigate whether neighborhood effect exists in Chinese character reading and whether specific brain regions are responsible for it. DESIGN: An event-related design. SETTING: Beijing Anzhen Hospital. PARTICIPANTS: The experiment was conducted at Beijing Anzhen Hospital from October 2004 to December 2004. Undergraduate students, aged 19-24 years, were selected from Beijing Normal University, comprising 13 males and 16 females. Inclusive criteria: ① Neurologically normal and right-handed; ② native-Chinese speakers. All subjects gave informed consent prior to experimentation. METHODS: ① Behavioral experiment: the experiment utilized a 2×2 factorial design. The factors included orthographic neighborhood size (few or many neighbors) and lexical regularity (regular or irregular characters). There was no significant difference between the ratio of regular and irregular characters in each family. The experiment was performed on a notebook PC and was piloted by E-Prime software. A fixation point '+' was presented on the screen for 500 ms,and then the target item was displayed in the same place of the fixation for 2 000 ms. Subjects were asked to read the character aloud quickly and correctly. The target item disappeared once the subject read it. Reaction time (RT) and error ratios were collected and analyzed. ② fMRI study: the study was an event-related design. Each character was presented for 500 ms,and the offset was followed by '+' presented for 1 500 -26 000 ms. Each duration was divided by 500 exactly. The subject was required to read silently. AFNI software package was used to analyze the fMRI data. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: ① RT and error ratio in behavioral experiment; ② Brain mapping in fMRI study. RESULTS: Twenty-nine undergraduate students were involved in the result analysis. ① Behavioral experiment results of RT: the main effect of regularity was highly significant for participants (F1) and items (F2) F1 (1,28) = 135.74,P < 0.01; F2 (1,76) = 49.506,P < 0.01,with regular words being responded faster than irregular words. The main effect of N was not significant, but was localized in an uncertain area F1 (1,28) = 3.182,P > 0.05; F2 not significant. Moreover, there was an interaction between neighborhood and regularity F1 (1,28) = 6.666,P < 0.05; F2 (1,76) = 3.157,P > 0.05. Analyses of simple effect determined that when the characters were irregular, the RT of low neighborhoods was shorter than high neighborhoods. Behavioral experiment results of error ratio: similar analyses were performed on the number of errors in the naming task. ANOVA demonstrated a main effect of regularity F1 (1,28) = 10.475,P < 0.01; F2 (1,76) = 4.686,P < 0.05,with errors of regular words less than irregular words. The main effect of neighborhoods was not significant. Moreover, there was an interaction between neighborhood and regularity by subjects F1 (1,28) = 7.632,P < 0.05,but not by items F2 (1,76) =3.906,P > 0.05. Analyses of simple effect found that when the characters were regular, the number of errors in high neighborhoods (23%) was greater than in low neighborhoods (11%). ② fMRI results: bilateral fusiforms were sensitive to Chinese character shape. Both neighborhoods effect and regular effect mainly yielded right cerebral hemisphere and bilateral brain area. CONCLUSION: Neighborhood effect existed in character reading. However, results are contrary to what has been shown in English word reading. The fewer neighborhoods that one character had,the shorter the RT was. The fMRI results demonstrated the neighborhood effect and regular effect primarily stimulated right cerebral hemisphere and the bilateral brain area.Hongyan Bi Xuchu Weng 2008Neural Regeneration Research2008,3,2:2
Improving Corrosion Resistance of Q235 Steel by Ni-Cr Alloyed Layer显示文摘Ni-Cr alloyed layer was formed on surface of Q235 steel by double glow plasma surface metallurgy to improve the corrosion resistance of substrate. The composition and microstructure of alloyed layer was analyzed by SEM and XRD. Potentiodynamic polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy was applied to evaluate the corrosion resistance of the alloyed layer. The results showed working pressure had a great effect on structure of Ni-Cr alloyed layer, and the dense and smooth alloyed layer was prepared at 50 Pa working pressure. Compared with substrate, Ni-Cr alloyed layer exhibited higher corrosion potential, lower corrosion current density and larger charge transfer resistance, which indicated that Ni-Cr alloyed layer significantly modified the corrosion resistance of Q235 steel.黄俊 张平则 WU Hongyan BI Qiang 2012Journal of Wuhan University of Technology(Materials Science)2012,27,1:1

Integrated analysis of human influenza A(H1N1)virus infectionrelated genes to construct a suitable diagnostic model显示文摘The genome characteristics and structural functions of coding proteins correlate with the genetic diversity of the H1N1 virus, which aids in the understanding of its underlying pathogenic mechanism. In this study, analyses of the characteristic of the H1N1 virus infection-related genes, their biological functions, and infection-related reversal drugs were performed.Additionally,we used multi-dimensional bioinformatics analysis to identify the key genes and then used these to construct a diagnostic model for the H1N1 virus infection. There was a total of 169 differently expressed genes in the samples between 21 h before infection and 77 h after infection. They were used during the protein-protein interaction(PPI)analysis, and we obtained a total of 1725 interacting genes. Then,we performed a weighted gene co-expression network analysis(WGCNA)on these genes, and we identified three modules that showed significant potential for the diagnosis of the H1N1 virus infection. These modules contained 60 genes, and they were used to construct this diagnostic model, which showed an effective prediction value.Besides, these 60 genes were involved in the biological functions of this infectious virus, like the cellular response to type I interferon and in the negative regulation of the viral life cycle.However,20 genes showed an upregulated expression as the infection progressed.Other 36 upregulated genes were used to examine the relationship between genes, human influenza A virus, and infection-related reversal drugs. This study revealed numerous important reversal drug molecules on the H1N1 virus. They included rimantadine, interferons, and shikimic acid. Our study provided a novel method to analyze the characteristic of different genes and explore their corresponding biological function during the infection caused by the H1N1 virus. This diagnostic model, which comprises 60 genes, shows that a significant predictive value can be the potential biomarker for the diagnosis of the H1N1 virus infection.WENBIAO CHEN KEFAN BI JINGJING JIANG XUJUN ZHANG HONGYAN DIAO 2021BIOCELL2021,45,4:1

Recommendations for the diagnosis and treatment of paroxysmal kinesigemc dyskinesia: an expert consensus in China显示文摘Paroxysmal dyskinesias are a group of neurological diseases characterized by intermittent episodes of involuntary movements with different causes.Paroxysmal kinesigenic dyskinesia(PKD)is the most common type of paroxysmal dyskinesia and can be divided into primary and secondary types based on the etiology.Clinically,PKD is characterized by recurrent and transient attacks of involuntary movements precipitated by a sudden voluntary action. The major cause of primary PKD is genetic abnormalities, and the inheritance pattern of PKD is mainly autosomal-dominant with incomplete penetrance. The proline-rich transmembrane protein 2(PRRT2)was the first identified causative gene of PKD,accounting for the majority of PKD cases worldwide. An increasing number of studies has revealed the clinical and genetic characteristics,as well as the underlying mechanisms of PKD.By seeking the views of domestic experts,we propose an expert consensus regarding the diagnosis and treatment of PKD to help establish standardized clinical evaluation and therapies for PKD.In this consensus,we review the clinical manifestations, etiology, clinical diagnostic criteria and therapeutic recommendations for PKD,and results of genetic analyses in PKD patients performed in domestic hospitals.Li Cao Xiaojun Huang Ning Wang Zhiying Wu Cheng Zhang Weihong Gu Shuyan Cong Jianhua Ma Ling Wei Yanchun Deng Qi Fang Qi Niu Jin Wang Zhaoxia Wang You Yin Jinyong Tian Shufen Tian Hongyan Bi Hong Jiang Xiaorong Liu Yang Lu Meizhen Sun Jianjun Wu Erhe Xu Tao Chen Tao Chen Xu Chen Wei Li Shujian Li Qinghua Li Xiaonan Song Ying Tang Ping Yang Yun Yang Min Zhang Xiong Zhang Yuhu Zhang Ruxu Zhang Yi Ouyang Jintai Yu Quanzhong Hu Qing Ke Yuanrong Yao Zhe Zhao Xiuhe Zhao Guohua Zhao Furu Liang Nan Cheng Jianhong Han Rong Peng Shengdi Chen Beisha Tang 2021Translational Neurodegeneration2021,10,1:1
Effects of Different Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi on Growth and Protective Enzyme Activity of Glycyrrhiza uralensis显示文摘[Objective] This study aimed to investigate the effects of 5 kinds of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi( Acaulospora mellea,Glomus mosseae,Glomus versiforme,Glomus aggregatum,Glomus etunicatum) on the growth and protective enzyme activity of Glycyrrhiza uralensis Fisch. [Method] The growth indicators and protective enzymes activity of glycyrrhiza plants inoculated and uninoculated with fungi were compared. [Result] The plant height, basal diameter, main root length, aboveground fresh weight, underground fresh weight, aboveground dry weight and underground dry weight of the inoculated glycyrrhiza plants were increased significantly compared with those in the control( non-inoculation) group. In the inoculated glycyrrhiza plants, the growth index was significantly increased compared with that in the control group( P <0. 05); the activities of superoxide dismutase( SOD) and peroxidase( POD) increased first and then decreased; and the activity of catalase( CAT) showed a continuous rising trend. The effects of different inoculants on the growth of G. uralensis were significantly different.[Conclusion]G. etunicatum,G. mosseae and G. aggregatum had a significant effect on the growth of G. uralensis, and were superior to other fungi in resisting the adverse environment.Yuandong ZOU Qiong GAO Hongyan BI Jihong FAN 2018Medicinal Plant2018,9,2:1
