| 1 | External fixation is more suitable for intra-articular fractures of the distal radius in elderly patients显示文摘The purpose of this study was to compare the functional outcomes, psychological impact, and complication rates associated with external fixation and volar or dorsal plating in relation to the functional parameters following treatment of intra-articular fractures of the distal radius(IFDR) in patients older than 65 years. We hypothesized that using volar or dorsal plating would improve functional outcomes, but that it would be associated with more complications and equivalent functional outcomes when compared with the external fixation group.A total of 123 consecutive patients suffering from IFDR were recruited into the study. The patients were measured for clinical, radiological, and psychosocial functioning outcomes and were followed up after 1 week and 3,6 and 12 months. After 3 months, the plating group had better pronation(P=0.001),supination,(P=0.047) and extension(P=0.043) scores. These differences were somewhat attenuated by6 months and disappeared at 1 year. The plating group had a greater occurrence of wound infection(P=0.043),tendonitis,(P=0.024) and additional surgery compared with the external fixation group. The only TNO-AZL Adult Quality of Life scores in the plating group that were lower than those in the external fixation group were in the 'gross motor' category(walking upstairs, bending over, walking 500 yards; P=0.023).Internal fixation was more advantageous than external fixation in the early rehabilitation period; after 1 year the outcomes were similar. The plating group showed significantly higher levels of wound infection and tendonitis and had a greater need for additional surgeries. | Chuang Ma Qiang Deng Hongwei Pu Xinchun Cheng Yuhua Kan Jing Yang Aihemaitijiang Yusufu Li Cao | 2016 | Bone Research2016,4,1: | 7 |
| 2 | Characterization of SARS-CoV-2 worldwide transmission based on evolutionary dynamics and specific viral mutations in the spike protein显示文摘Background:The coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome-related coronavirus-2(SARS-CoV-2)is pandemic. However, the origins and global transmission pattern of SARS-CoV-2 remain largely unknown. We aimed to characterize the origination and transmission of SARS-CoV-2 based on evolutionary dynamics. Methods:Using the full-length sequences of SARS-CoV-2 with intact geographic, demographic, and temporal information worldwide from the GISAID database during 26 December 2019 and 30 November 2020,we constructed the transmission tree to depict the evolutionary process by the R package'outbreaker'.The affinity of the mutated receptor-binding region of the spike protein to angiotensin-converting enzyme 2(ACE2)was predicted using mCSM-PPI2 software.Viral infectivity and antigenicity were tested in ACE2-transfected HEK293T cells by pseudovirus transfection and neutralizing antibody test. Results:From 26 December 2019 to 8 March 2020,early stage of the COVID-19 pandemic,SARS-CoV-2 strains identified worldwide were mainly composed of three clusters:the Europe-based cluster including two USA-based subclusters;the Asia-based cluster including isolates in China,Japan, the USA,Singapore,Australia,Malaysia, and Italy;and the USA-based cluster. The SARS-CoV-2 strains identified in the USA formed four independent clades while those identified in China formed one clade. After 8 March 2020,the clusters of SARS-CoV-2 strains tended to be independent and became'pure'in each of the major countries.Twenty-two of 60 mutations in the receptor-binding domain of the spike protein were predicted to increase the binding affinity of SARS-CoV-2 to ACE2.Of all predicted mutants, the number of E484K was the largest one with 86585 sequences, followed by S477N with 55442 sequences worldwide. In more than ten countries, the frequencies of the isolates with E484K and S477N increased significantly.V367F and N354D mutations increased the infectivity of SARS-CoV-2 pseudoviruses(P<0.001).SARS-CoV-2 with V367F was more sensitive to the S1-targeting neutralizing antibody than the wild-type counterpart(P<0.001).Conclusions:SARS-CoV-2 strains might have originated in several countries simultaneously under certain evolutionary pressure.Travel restrictions might cause location-specific SARS-CoV-2 clustering. The SARS-CoV-2 evolution appears to facilitate its transmission via altering the affinity to ACE2 or immune evasion. | Jiluo Liu Xi Chen Yan Liu Jiansheng Lin Jiaying Shen Hongwei Zhang Jianhua Yin Rui Pu Yibo Ding Guangwen Cao | 2021 | Infectious Diseases of Poverty2021,10,4: | 2 |

| 5 | A Monophyletic Status of Axis Genus in Subfamily Cervinae Supported by the Complete Mitochondrial Genome of Chinese Hog Deer(Axis porcinus)显示文摘Hog deer(Axis porcinus)is a small mammal and listed in the International Union for Conservation of Nature. However, phylogenetic position of hog deer within Axis genus has remained controversial. In the present study,we first assembled complete mitochondrial genome of Chinese hog deer reared in Chengdu Zoo,Sichuan,by the second-generation sequencing technology. This newly assembled mitochondrial genome of hog deer is 16376 bp in length and consists of 13 protein-encoding genes,23 transfer RNA genes and 2 ribosomal RNA genes.Phylogenetic analyses based on complete mitochondrial genome and cytochrome b gene sequences revealed that hog deer is closely clustered together and placed with sister taxon of spotted deer(A.Axis),which therefore supported monophyletic statue of Axis genus.Furthermore, considerable genetic differentiation,up to 139 mutations of complete mitochondrial genome was revealed between geographical populations of hog deer in France and Southeast Asia. However, only six variable sites(nucleotide diversity of 0.00007)and four haplotypes(haplotype diversity of 0.533)were totally detected among ten newly sequenced Chinese hog deer. The results provide a better understanding on the phylogeny of hog deer. | Wei WANG Huijuan YAN Jianqiu YU Jun YI Lili NIU Hongwei CHEN Yu QU Yang PU Ang CHEN Yan ZHONG | 2020 | Agricultural Biotechnology2020,9,6: | 1 |

| 9 | Graphene foam/hydrogel scaffolds for regeneration of peripheral nerve using ADSCs in a diabetic mouse model显示文摘The functional recovery of peripheral nerve injury(PNI)is unsatisfactory, whereas diabetes mellitus(DM)and its related complications further attenuate the restoration of diabetic PNI(DPNI).Adipose-derived stem cells(ADSCs)are promising candidates for treatment of DPNI due to their abundant source, excellent differentiation and paracrine ability. Our results showed that ADSCs remarkably enhanced the proliferation and migration of Schwann cells and endothelial cells, and tube formation.Mechanistically,ADSCs could regulate Nrf2/HO-1,NF-κB and PI3K/AKT/mTOR signaling pathways, showing multiple functions in reducing oxidative stress and inflammation, and regulating cell metabolism, growth, survival, proliferation, angiogenesis, differentiation of Schwann cell and myelin formation. In current study, novel graphene foam(GF)/hydrogel-based scaffold was developed to deliver ADSCs for treatment of DPNI.GF/hydrogel scaffold exhibited excellent mechanical strength, suitable porous network, superior electrical conductivity, and good biocompatibility. In vitro results revealed that GF/hydrogel scaffold could obviously accelerate proliferation of Schwann cells. Moreover,in vivo experiments demonstrated that ADSCs-loaded GF/hydrogel scaffold significantly promoted the recovery of DPNI and inhibited the atrophy of targeted muscles, thus providing a novel and attractive therapeutic approach for DPNI patients. | Qun Huang Yuting Cai Xinrui Yang Weimin Li Hongji Pu Zhenjing Liu Hongwei Liu Mohsen Tamtaji Feng Xu Liyuan Sheng Tae-Hyung Kim Shiqing Zhao Dazhi Sun Jinbao Qin Zhengtang Luo Xinwu Lu | 2022 | Nano Research2022,15,4: | 0 |
