| 1 | Effect of resveratrol on activation of nuclear factor kappa-B and inflammatory factors in rat model of acute pancreatitis显示文摘AIM: To observe the effect of resveratrol on nuclear factor Kappa-B (NF-κB) activation and the inflammatory response in sodium taurocholate-induced pancreatitis in rats.METHODS: Seventy-two male SD rats were randomly divided into three groups: sham operation group (control),severe acute pancreatitis (SAP) group, and severe acute pancreatitis group treated with resveratrol (RES). A SAP model was established by injecting 4% sodium taurocholate 1 mL/kg through puncturing the pancreatic duct. In Res group, Res was given at 30 mg/kg b.m. intraperitoneally after the SAP model was successfully established. Eight animals from each group were sacrificed at 3, 6 and 12 h after modeling. The expression of NF-κB activation of pancreas was detected by immunohistochemical staining, whereas the levels of TNF-α and IL-8 in pancreatic tissues were estimated by radioimmunoassay. The pathological changes of pancreas and lungs were examined microscopically.RESULTS: Much less hyperemia, edema, dust-colored necrotic focus and soaps were noticed in pancreas in RES group than in SAP group. In RES group, hemorrhage,exudates and infiltration of inflammatory cells in pancreas and interstitial edema, destruction of alveolar wall in lung were significantly less than in SAP group. In the SAP group,the activation of NF-κB in pancreatic tissues was enhanced significantly at any measure point compared with control group (64.23±10.72% vs2.56±0.65%, 55.86±11.34% vs 2.32±0.42%, 36.23±2.30% vs 2.40±0.36% ,P <0.01), TNF-α,IL-8 were also increased and reached their peak at 6 h and then declined. The activation of NF-κB and the levels of TNF-α and IL-8 in RES group were significantly lower than those in SAP group (P<0.01): activation (52.63±9.45% vs 64.23±10.72%, 40.52±8.40% vs 55.86±11.34%, 29.83±5.37% vs36.23±2.30%), TN-α (132.76±15.68 pg/mL vs 158.36±12.58 pg/mL, 220.32±23.57 pg/mL vs 247.67± 11.62 pg/mL, 175.68±18.43 pg/mL vs 197.35±12.57 pg/mL) and IL-8 (0.62±0.21 μg/L vs0.83±0.10 μg/L, 1.10±0.124 μg/L vs1.32±0.18 μg/L, 0.98±0.16 μg/L vs 1.27±0.23 μg/L).CONCLUSION: The activation of NF-κB is involved in the inflammatory response of rats with SAP. | 3 | Effect of resveratrol on microcirculation disorder and lung injury following severe acute pancreatitis in rats显示文摘AIM: To investigate the mechanism of resveratrol underlying the microcirculation disorder and lung injury following severe acute pancreatitis (SAP).METHODS: Twenty-four rats were divided into 3 groups (SAP, sham and resveratrol groups) randomly. SAP model was established by injecting 4% sodium taurocholate 1 mL/kg through puncturing pancreatic ducts. Sham (control) group (8 rats) was established by turning over the duodenum.Resveratrol was given at 0.1 mg/kg b.m. intraperitoneally.Rats were sacrificed 9 h after SAP was induced. Blood samples were obtained for hemorrheological examination.Lung tissues were used for pathological observation, and examination of microvascular permeability, dry/wet ratio and myeloperoxidase (MPO) activity. Gene expression of intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1) was detected by RT-PCR.RESULTS: Compared with SAP group, resveratrol relieved the edema and infiltration of leukocytes in the lungs. Resveratrol improved markers of hemorrheology:high VTB (5.77±1.18 mPas vs9.49±1.34 mPas), low VTB (16.12±3.20 mPas vs30.91±7.28 mPas), PV (4.69±1.68 mPas vs8.00±1.34 mPas), BSR (1.25±0.42 mm/h vs 0.03±0.03mm/h), VPC (54.67±3.08% vs 62.17±3.39%), fibrinogen (203.2±87.8 g/L vs 51.3±19.1 g/L), original hemolysis (0.45±0.02 vs 0.49±0.02), and complete hemolysis (0.41±0.02 vs0.43±0.02) (P<0.05). Resveratrol decreased the OD ratio of ICAM-1 gene (0.800±0.03 vs 1.188±0.10),dry/wet ratio (0.74±0.02 vs 0.77±0.03), microvascular permeability (0.079±0.006 vs 0.112±0.004) and MPO activity (4.42±0.32 vs 5.03±0.51) significantly (P<0.05).CONCLUSION: Resveratrol can improve the microcirculation disorder of the lung by decreasing leukocyte-endothelial interaction, reducing blood viscosity, improving the decrease of blood flow, and stabilizing erythrocytes in SAP rats. | 4 | Two Comparable Earthquakes Produced Greatly Different Coseismic Landslides:The 2015 Gorkha,Nepal and 2008 Wenchuan,China Events显示文摘The 2015 Gorkha Earthquake in Nepal and the 2008 Wenchuan Earthquake in China occurred at the south and southeast margins of the Tibetan Plateau, respectively. Both earthquakes had similar magnitudes of Mw 7.8 and 7.9, caused catastrophic loss of life and damage to property, and generated tens of thousands of landslides. Comparisons of pre- and post-quake satellite images supported by field investigations show that the Gorkha Earthquake triggered at least 2 064 large landslides(defined as covering an area ≥10 000 m^2) over a ~35 600 km^2 region with a volume of(444–584)×10~6(average 509×10~6) m^3 and total area of 44.78×10~6 m^2. In contrast, the Wenchuan Earthquake triggered 25 580 large landslides over a region of ~44 000 km^2 with a volume of(7 128–9 479)×10~6(average 8 219×10~6) m^3 and a total area of about 670.65×10~6 m^2. Several controlling factors including topographic relief, slope steepness, and regional peak ground acceleration(PGA) were investigated to try to explain the great differences between the number, volume and area of the coseismic landslides associated with the two similar earthquakes. We found that the differences primarily arose from an unexpected factor, the dip angle of the seismogenic fault. | 5 | Surface integrity and fatigue behavior when turning γ-TiAl alloy with optimized PVD-coated carbide inserts显示文摘This paper presents a comprehensive investigation on the effects of tool and turning parameters on surface integrity and fatigue behavior in turning c-Ti Al alloy. The wear of inserts surface, cutting forces, and surface roughness were studied to optimize PVD-coated carbide inserts.Surface topography, residual stresses, microhardness, and microstructure were analyzed to characterize the surfaces layer under different turning parameters. Surface integrity and fatigue life tests of c-Ti Al alloy were conducted under turning and turning-polishing processes. The results show that compared to CNMG120412-MF4, CNMG120408-SM is more suitable because it obtained low cutting force, surface roughness, and tool wear. With increasing the cutting speed and depth, the depths of the compressive residual stress layer, hardening layer, and plastic deformation layer increased. For turning and turning-polishing specimens, the compressive residual stress was relaxed by less than 20%–30% after 10~7 cycles. | 6 | Vulnerability of Water Resources and Its Spatial Heterogeneity in Haihe River Basin, China显示文摘To manage water resources effectively, a multiscale assessment of the vulnerability of water resources on the basis of political boundaries and watersheds is necessary. This study addressed issues on the vulnerability of water resources and provided a multiscale comparison of spatial heterogeneity under a climate change background. Using improved quantitative evaluation methods of vulnerability, the Theil index and the Shannon-Weaver index, we evaluated the vulnerability of water resources and its spatial heterogeneity in the Haihe River Basin in four scales, namely, second-class water resource regions(Class ⅡWRRs), third-class water resource regions(Class Ⅲ WRRs), Province-Class ⅡWRRs, and Province-Class Ⅲ WRRs. Results show that vulnerability enhances from the north to south in the different scales, and shows obvious spatial heterogeneity instead of moving toward convergence in multiscale assessment results. Among the Class Ⅱ WRRs, the Tuhai-Majia River is the most vulnerable area, and the vulnerability of the Luanhe River is lower than that of the north of the Haihe River Basin, which in turn is lower than that of the south of the Haihe River Basin. In the scales of Class Ⅲ WRRs and Province-Class Ⅲ WRRs, the vulnerability shows obvious spatial heterogeneity and diversity measured by the Theil index and the Shannon-Weaver index. | 7 | Identification of Porphyra lines using computerized DNA fingerprinting显示文摘RAPD (Randomly Amplified Polymorphic DNA) analysis was performed with filaments of 15 Porphyra lines representing four important groups (P. yezoensis, P. haitanensis, P. katadai var. Hemiphylla and P. digospermatangia). Eight stable and repeatable RAPD bands amplified with two primers, OPN-02 and OPJ-18, were selected for the construction of DNA fingerprinting. The RAPD results were scored based on the presence or absence of each of the 8 bands and then converted to computer language expressed with two digitals, 1 and 0, which represented the presence (numbered as 1) or absence (numbered as 0) of each band, respectively. Based on these results, a model DNA fingerprint and a computerized DNA fingerprint were constructed. In the constructed DNA fingerprint, each Porphyra line has its unique fingerprinting pattern and can be easily distinguished from each other. Later, a software, named as PhGI, was designed based on this DNA fingerprinting. | 8 | Growth and characterization of 0.8-μm gate length AlGaN/GaN HEMTs on sapphire substrates显示文摘AlGaN/GaN high electron mobility transistor (HEMT) structures were grown on 2 inch sapphire substrates by MOCVD, and 0.8-μm gate length devices were fabricated and measured. It is shown by resistance mapping that the HEMT structures have an average sheet resistance of approximately 380 ?/sq with a uniformity of more than 96%. The 1-mm gate width devices using the materials yielded a pulsed drain current of 784 mA/mm at Vgs=0.5 V and Vds=7 V with an extrinsic transconductance of 200 mS/mm. A 20-GHz unity current gain cutoff frequency (?T ) and a 28-GHz maximum oscillation frequency (?max) were obtained. | 10 | Preparation and evaluation of sustained-release solid dispersions co-loading gastrodin with borneol as an oral brain-targeting enhancer显示文摘Borneol is a traditional Chinese medicine that can promote drug absorption from the gastrointestinal tract and distribution to the brain.However,stomach irritation may occur when high doses of borneol are used.In the present work,gastrodin,the main bioactive ingredient of the traditional Chinese drug“Tianma”(Rhizoma Gastrodiae)was used as a model drug to explore reasonable application of borneol.Sustained-release solid dispersions(SRSDs)for co-loading gastrodin and borneol were prepared using ethylcellulose as a sustained release matrix and hydroxy-propyl methylcellulose as a retarder.The dispersion state of drug within the SRSDs was analyzed by using scanning electron microscopy,differential scanning calorimetry,and powder X-ray diffractometry.The results indicated that both gastrodin and borneol were molecularly dispersed in an amorphous form.Assay of in vitro drug release demonstrated that the dissolution profiles of gastrodin and borneol from the SRSDs both fitted the Higuchi model.Subsequently,gastric mucosa irritation and the brain targeting of the SRSDs were evaluated.Compared with the free mixture of gastrodin and borneol,brain targeting of SRSDs was slightly weaker(brain targeting index:1.83 vs.2.09),but stomach irritation obviously reduced.Sustained-release technology can be used to reduce stomach irritation caused by borneol while preserving sufficient transport capacity for oral brain-targeting drug delivery. | Zheng Cai Xiaolu Lei Zhufen Lin Jie Zhao Feizhen Wu Zhaoxiang Yang Junxue Pu Zhongqiu Liu | 2014 | Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2014,4,1: | 7 |
| 11 | Seasonal variations in the concentration and removal of nonylphenol ethoxylates from the wastewater of a sewage treatment plant显示文摘In this study, we investigated the occurrence and fate of nonylphenol(NP), nonylphenol monoethoxylate(NP1EO) and nonylphenol diethoxylate(NP2EO) in a full scale sewage treatment plant, which applied an Anaerobic/Oxic process. Concentrations of NP, NP1 EO and NP2 EO in the wastewater were measured during the period spanning a whole year.The results showed remarkable seasonal variation in the concentrations of the compounds.The NPn EO compounds were most abundant in winter, with the total concentrations of influent NP, NP1 EO and NP2 EO ranging from 3900 to 7000 ng/L, 4000 to 4800 ng/L and 5200 to 7200 ng/L, respectively. Regarding the total removal efficiencies of the three types of short-chain NPn EO compounds, different trends were exhibited according to different seasons. The average removal efficiency of NP for the different seasons ranked as follows:winter > summer > autumn > spring; NP2 EO concentrations decreased as follows: summer >autumn > winter > spring, while NP1 EO concentrations reduced according to: spring >summer > autumn > winter. | 12 | Multi-object approach and its appfication to adaptive water management under climate change显示文摘This paper addresses issues on adaptive water management under the impact of climate change.Based on a set of comprehensive indicators of water system,a decision making approach of multi-objects is developed and applied to quantify water adaptive management for the demands of water sustainable use,water environmental protection and eco-water requirement under the climate change.For this study in China,two key indicators are proposed,namely(1) the water resources vulnerability(V) that was represented by integrated sensitivity(S) and resilience(C) of climate change impact on water resources,and(2) the sustainability of socio-economy and water environment,marked by DD,that is integrated scaler of socio-economic development(EG) based on the amount of GDP and the water environment and relative eco-system quality(LI).To find a reasonable solution for adaptive water management,a multi-objective decision making model of adaptive water management is further developed and the multi-objective model was transformed into an integrated single optimization model through developing an integrated measure function,called as VDD=DD/V.This approach has been applied to adaptive water resources planning and management for case study of China with new policy,called as the strict management of water resources based on three red line controls,i.e.,the control of total water use by the total water resources allocation,the control of lower water use efficiency by the water demand management and the control of the total waste water load by water quality management in the Eastern China Monsoon Region that covers major eight big river basins including Yangtze River,Yellow River,Haihe River and Huaihe River.It is shown that the synthetic representation of water resource vulnerability and socio-economic sustainability by the integrated objective function(VDD) and integrated decision making model are workable and practicable.Adaptive management effect of the criterion compliance rate and water use efficiency are more appreciable through new water policy of the three red line controls,which can reduce 21.3% of the water resources vulnerability(V) and increase 18.4% of the sustainability of socioeconomy and water environment(DD) for the unfavorable scenario of climate change in 2030. | HONG Si XIA Jun CHEN Junxu WAN Long NING Like SHI Wei | 2017 | Journal of Geographical Sciences2017,27,3: | 5 |
| 13 | Mitochondrial uncoupler BAM15 inhibits artery constriction and potently activates AMPK in vascular smooth muscle cells显示文摘Our previous studies found that mitochondrial uncouplers CCCP and niclosamide inhibited artery constriction and the mechanism involved AMPK activation in vascular smooth muscle cells. BAM15 is a novel type of mitochondrial uncoupler. The aim of the present study is to identify the vasoactivity of BAM15 and characterize the BAM15-induced AMPK activation in vascular smooth muscle cells(A10 cells). BAM15 relaxed phenylephrine(PE)-induced constricted rat mesenteric arteries with intact and denuded endothelium. Pretreatment with BAM15 inhibited PEinduced constriction of rat mesenteric arteries with intact and denuded endothelium. BAM15, CCCP,and niclosamide had the comparable IC50 value of vasorelaxation in PE-induced constriction of rat mesenteric arteries. BAM15 was less cytotoxic in A10 cells compared with CCCP and niclosamide.BAM15 depolarized mitochondrial membrane potential, induced mitochondrial fission, increased mitochondrial ROS production, and increased mitochondrial oxygen consumption rate in A10 cells.BAM15 potently activated AMPK in A10 cells and the efficacy of BAM15 was stronger than that of CCCP, niclosamide, and AMPK positive activators metformin and AICAR. In conclusion, BAM15 activates AMPK in vascular smooth muscle cells with higher potency than that of CCCP, niclosamide and the known AMPK activators metformin and AICAR. | 15 | Sensitivity and vulnerability of water resources in the arid Shiyang River Basin of Northwest China显示文摘The sensitivity and vulnerability of water resources to climate change is difficult to assess. In this study, we used a conceptual hydrologic model to investigate the sensitivity of streamflow to climate change. We also proposed a framework to evaluate the vulnerability of water resources in arid regions. We applied this framework to a case study of the Shiyang River Basin in Northwest China. Results showed that the precipitation and streamflow in Shiyang River Basin exhibited no significant trends of change from 1956 to 2010. In the past five decades, however, the temperature increased significantly by 0.37°C per decade. According to the sensitivity assessment, a 10% increase in precipitation and a 1°C increase in temperature altered mean annual streamflow by averages of 14.6% and –0.5%, respectively, from 1988 to 2005. In the 2000s, the calculated vulnerability of water resources in Shiyang River Basin was more than 0.95, indicating severe vulnerability. The increase in the amount of precipitation and the implementation of water-saving measures can reduce the vulnerability of water resources in the future; if precipitation increases by 10% per decade and the use of irrigation water decreases by 15% in the 2030s, the evaluated value of water resources vulnerability will be reduced to 0.79. However, the region remains highly vulnerable. | 16 | Microencapsulated hepatocytes and islets as in vivo bioartificial liver support system显示文摘AIM: To confirm the xenotransplantation of microencapsulated hepatocytes and islets as a temporary bioartificial liver support system for mice with acute liver failure (ALF).METHODS: Mice were rendered ALF by a single intra-peritoneal injection of D-galactosamine (D-gal) and their tail blood was sampled to examine differences in blood ALT,albumin (ALB), total bilirubin (TB) and glucose (GLU) between 4 experimental groups. Rat hepatocytes and islets were collected and microencapsulated referring to both Sun's and Fritschy's methods. Mice were grouped into control group (CG), free hepatocyte group (FHG), microencapsulated hepatocyte group (MHG) and microencapsulated hepatocyte plus islet group (HIG). Tissue samples were subjected to microscopic and electron microscopic (EM) examinations.RESULTS: The highest survival was observed in HIG,surprisingly at 100%(16/16), while the lowest was in CG at 12.5%(2/16), with inter-group statistical difference P<0.05. ALT levels revealed no statistical difference between groups but the ALB level of HIG descended by the slightest margin{q=(0.54, 0.24, 1.33), P<0.05} at the time when it reached the lowest point in all groups. TB of HIG returned to normal reference range (NRR) statistically sooner than that of others after a fierce elevation. No statistical inter-group difference was observed in GLU levels. | 17 | Crystal growth of β’—Gd2(Mo4)3 and in situ observation of its domain structure by the microscope and the synchrotron X—ray topography显示文摘We report that β’-Gd2(MoO4)3 crystals have been grown by the Czochralski(CZ) method.We studied the growth conditions fo β’-Gd2(MoO4)3 crystal.A compatison between the resistance-heated method and radio frequency induction-heated method is described.Also,the in situ observation of the domain structure by the microscope and by synchrotron radiation X-ray topography under the conditions of DC polarization voltage and tempertature change were carried out.Experiments showed that multidomain structure including ferroelectric and ferroelastic domains occurred in β’-Gd2(MoO4)3 cystal.Usually ferroeletiric domains appeared in the as-grown crystal and ferroelastic domains appeared in the polished thinner piece.Both ferroelectric and ferroelastic domains disappeared when the temperature of the crystal piece was higher than the Curie tempperature Tc and they could be reproduced when the temperature of the crystal piece was lowered below TC.When a DC polarization voltage ranging from 150 to 500V was applied on a c-axis β’-Gd2(MoO4)3 piece having a thickness of 0.5mm ,the multidomain would gradually transform to a single domain.This resual means that it is possible to make a periodically poled β’-Gd2(MoO4)3 crystal.2001 Elsevier Science B.V.All rights reserved. | QingxiYuan ChunhuaZhao WieipingLuo XiaofengYin JunXu ShoukiuiP | 2001 | Beijing Synchrotron Radiation Facility2001,,2: | 2 |

| 20 | New discrimination method for ablative control mechanism in solid-propellant rocket nozzle显示文摘A reasonable discrimination method for ablative control mechanism in solid-propellant rocket nozzle can improve the calculation accuracy of ablation rate. Based on the different rate constants for reactions of C with H2O and CO2,a new discrimination method for ablative control mechanism,which comprehensively considers the influence of nozzle surface temperature and gas component concentration,is presented. Using this new discrimination method,calculations were performed to simulate the nozzle throat insert ablation. The numerical results showed that the calculated ablation rate,which was more close to the measured values,was less than the value calculated by diffusion control mechanisms or by double control mechanisms.
