2A Genomic Variation Map Provides Insights into the Genetic Basis of Spring Chinese Cabbage (Brassica rapa ssp.pekinensis)Selection显示文摘Chinese cabbage is the most consumed leafy crop in East Asian countries.However,premature bolting induced by continuous low temperatures severely decreases the yield and quality of the Chinese cabbage, and therefore restricts its planting season and geographic distribution.In the past 40years,spring Chinese cabbage with strong winterness has been selected to meet the market demand.Here,we report a genome variation map of Chinese cabbage generated from the resequencing data of 194 geographically diverse accessions of three ecotypes.In-depth analyses of the selection sweeps and genome-wide patterns revealed that spring Chinese cabbage was selected from a specific population of autumn Chinese cabbage around the area of Shandong peninsula in northern China.We identified 23 genomic loci that underwent intensive selection,and further demonstrated by gene expression and haplotype analyses that the incorporation of elite alleles of VERNALISATION INSENTIVE 3.1(BrVIN3.1)and FLOWER LOCUS C 1(BrFLC1)is a determinant genetic source of variation during selection.Moreover,we showed that the quantitative response of BrVIN3.1 to cold due to the sequence variations in the cis elements of the BrVlN3.1 promoter significantly contributes to bolting-time variation in Chinese cabbage.Collectively, our study provides valuable insights into the genetic basis of spring Chinese cabbage selection and will facilitate the breeding of bolting-resistant Varieties by molecular-marker-assisted selection,transgenic or gene editingapproaches.Tongbing Su Weihong Wang Peirong Li Bin Zhang Pan Li Xiaoyun Xin Honghe Sun Yangjun Yu Deshuang Zhang Xiuyun Zhao Changlong Wen Gang Zhou Yuntong Wang Hongkun Zheng Shuancang Yu Fenglan Zhang 2018Molecular Plant2018,11,11:6

4Efficient and Quick Inactivation of SARS Coronavirus and Other Microbes Exposed to the Surfaces of Some Metal Catalysts显示文摘Objective To study the two metal catalysts Ag/Al2O3 and Cu/Al2O3 that interdict the transmission pathway for SARS and other respiratory infectious diseases. Methods Two metal catalysts Ag/Al2O3 and Cu/Al2O3 were pressed into wafers. One hundred μL 106 TCID50/mL SARS-CoV, 100 μL 106 PFU/mL recombinant baculovirus expressing hamster’s prion protein (haPrP) protein and roughly 106 E. coli were slowly dropped onto the surfaces of the catalyst wafers and exposed for 5 and 20 min, respectively. After eluted from the surfaces of wafers, the infectivity of viruses and propagation of bacteria were measured. The expression of PrP protein was determined by Western blot. The morphological changes of bacteria were observed by electronic microscopy. Results After exposure to the catalysts surfaces for 5 and 20 min, the infectivity of SARS-CoV in Vero cells and baculovirus in Sf9 cells dropped down to a very low and undetectable level, and no colony was detected using bacteria culture method. The expression of haPrP protein reduced to 21.8% in the preparation of Sf9 cells infected with recombinant baculovirus exposed for 5 min and was undetectable exposed for 20 min. Bacterial membranes seemed to be cracked and the cytoplasm seemed to be effluent from cell bodies. Conclusion Exposures to the surfaces of Ag/Al2O3 and Cu/Al2O3 destroy the replication and propagation abilities of SARS-CoV, baculovirus and E. coli. Inactivation ability of metal catalysts needs to interact with air, utilizing oxygen molecules in air. 5The evolution of Paleozoic vascular land plant diversity of South China显示文摘Data of Paleozoic and some Early Triassic vascular land plant fossils from South China are synthetically analyzed,revealing evolutionary characteristics of Paleozoic vascular land plant diversity.Vascular land plant diversity keeps increasing in the Paleozoic as a whole.The Silurian witnessed the earliest evolution and initial diversification of land plants.From the Early Devonian to the Early Carboniferous(Mississippian),the great development,diversification,and differentiation really occurred in vascular land plants,with fluctuations of diversity,rapid replacement of the plant types,and an all-out takeover of terrestrial ecological niches.From the Early Permian,land plant diversity dramatically increased,and reached a climax in the Middle-Late Permian.Comparisons between late Paleozoic marine and terrestrial biodiversity reveal co-evolution of the late Paleozoic animals and plants as well as the individual evolutionary patterns of sea/land ecosystems.Vascular land plant diversity dramatically declined in the Frasnian as a result of the F/F event,and the end-Permian mass extinctions completely turned over the phytogroups.Yi Wang Jun Wang HongHe Xu XueZhi He 2010Science China Earth Sciences2010,53,12:3
6Aurora-A is a novel predictor of poor prognosis in patients with resected lung adenocarcinoma显示文摘Background: The Aurora-A(Aur-A) gene, a key regulator of mitosis, has been proved as an oncogene in a variety of cancers. The Aur-A overexpression has been proved correlated with aggressiveness of cancer cells. However, the frequency of Aur-A protein overexpression, as well as its association with clinicopathologic parameters and prognosis remain unclear in lung adenocarcinoma(ADC). This study tried to clarify the clinical significance of Aur-A in patients with resected lung ADC. Patients and methods: A total of 142 informative patients with surgically resected lung ADC and 20 normal lung tissues were enrolled. Western blot and immunohistochemistry(IHC) were utilized to assess protein expression of Aur-A.Result: The expression of Aur-A was elevated in most of tumor tissues compared with the adjacent tissues by western blot. The IHC results showed that Aur-A protein was over-expressed in 98 of 142(69.0%) tumor sections, while Aur-A was low-expressed in all normal lung sections. A positive correlation between Aur-A overexpression rate and ascending pathologic stages was observed(P<0.05). Kaplan-Meier analysis demonstrated that patients with Aur-A high expression had significantly inferior survival compared to those with Aur-A low expression. Both overall survival(OS) and disease-free survival(DFS) of positive overexpression patients were shorter than the negative group(P=0.036, P=0.041, respectively). 8A key‘foxy’aroma gene is regulated by homologyinduced promoter indels in the iconic juice grape‘Concord’显示文摘‘Concord’,the most well-known juice grape with a parentage of the North American grape species Vitis labrusca L.,possesses a special‘foxy’aroma predominantly resulted from the accumulation of methyl anthranilate(MA)in berries.This aroma,however,is often perceived as an undesirable attribute by wine consumers and rarely noticeable in the common table and wine grape species V.vinifera.Here we discovered homology-induced promoter indels as a major genetic mechanism for species-specific regulation of a key‘foxy’aroma gene,anthraniloyl-CoA:methanol acyltransferase(AMAT),that is responsible for MA biosynthesis.We found the absence of a 426-bp and/or a 42-bp sequence in AMAT promoters highly associated with high levels of AMAT expression and MA accumulation in‘Concord’and other V.labrusca-derived grapes.These promoter variants,all with direct and inverted repeats,were further confirmed in more than 1,300 Vitis germplasm.Moreover,functional impact of these indels was validated in transgenic Arabidopsis.Superimposed on the promoter regulation,large structural changes including exonic insertion of a retrotransposon were present at the AMAT locus in some V.vinifera grapes.Elucidation of the AMAT genetic regulation advances our understanding of the‘foxy’aroma trait and makes it genetically trackable and amenable in grapevine breeding.Yingzhen Yang JoséCuenca Nian Wang Zhenchang Liang Honghe Sun Benjamin Gutierrez Xiaojun Xi Jie Arro YiWang Peige Fan Jason Londo Peter Cousins Shaohua Li Zhangjun Fei Gan-Yuan Zhong 2020Horticulture Research2020,7,1:3
9Different Responses of Two Highly Permissive Cell Lines Upon HCV Infection显示文摘The construction of the first infectious clone JFH-1 speeds up the research on hepatitis C virus (HCV). However, Huh7 cell line was the only highly permissive cell line for HCV infection and only a few clones were fully permissive. In this study, two different fully permissive clones of Huh7 cells, Huh7.5.1 and Huh7-Lunet-CD81 (Lunet-CD81) cells were compared for their responses upon HCV infection. The virus replication level was found slightly higher in Huh7.5.1 cells than that in Lunet-CD81 cells. Viability of Huh7.5.1 cells but not of Lunet-CD81 cells was reduced significantly after HCV infection. Further analysis showed that the cell cycle of infected Huh7.5.1 cells was arrested at G1 phase. The G1/S transition was blocked by HCV infection in Huh7.5.1 cells as shown by the cell cycle synchronization analysis. Genes related to cell cycle regulation was modified by HCV infection and gene interaction analysis in GeneSpring GX in Direct Interactions mode highlighted 31 genes. In conclusion, the responses of those two cell lines were different upon HCV infection. HCV infection blocked G1/S transition and cell cycle progress, thus reduced the cell viability in Huh7.5.1 cells but not in Lunet-CD81 cells. 10Bi-functions of titanium and lanthanum co-doping to enhance theelectrochemical performance of spinel LiNi_(0.5)Mn_(1.5)O_(4)cathode显示文摘Spinel LiNi_(0.5)Mn_(1.5)O_(4)(LNMO)cathode material doped with Ti and La co-doping were synthesized through a solid-state method.The bi-functions of the Ti and La co-doping is realized.On the one hand,the stability of the LiNi_(0.5)Mn_(1.5)O_(4)crystal structure is enhanced and the Mn3t interference inside the material is reduced by the Ti doping.On the other hand,the co-doped La contributes to the formation of Li_(0.5)La_(0.5)TiO_(3)(LLTO)superionic conductor incorporated in the bulk LiNi_(0.5)Mn_(1.5)O_(4)phase,thereby enhancing the Li diffusion.With the help of XRD,FTIR,SEM and STEM techniques,La and Ti in the crystallographic structure and the dispersion of the LLTO superionic conductor in the bulk LNMO spinel are discussed.At the optimized molar ratio of 20:1 between LNMO and LLTO,the composite exhibits the best electrochemical performances in terms of the reversible capacity,rate capability and cycling stability.The lithium ion diffusion coefficient in the bulk LNMO phase is tripled by the LLTO superionic conductor incorporation.Xueying Zheng Weijie Liu Qunting Qu Honghe Zheng Yunhui Huang 2019Journal of Materiomics2019,5,2:2
11Correlation between the physical parameters and the electrochemical performance of a silicon anode in lithium-ion batteries显示文摘Lithium-ion battery anode used as silicon particles were obtained from different major suppliers,and they were characterized by different spectroscopic techniques and evaluated by electrochemical experiments.Correlations between the key physical parameters and electrochemical properties of the silicon particles were investigated.Silicon particle size,surface oxygen content,-OH content and physical appearance are found to strongly influence the electrochemical properties of the Si anode.The particle size of 100 nm has great promise for the practical application of Si nanoparticles in the lithium-ion battery industry.An inverse correlation between the oxygen content and the reversible capacity or first coulombic efficiency was obtained.The-OH content by surface treatment contributes to enhanced cycling stability by the improved affinity between the Si particle and the water-soluble binder.Spherical Si particles perform better compared to irregular particles,and agglomeration dramatically decreases the cycling stability of the Si anode.Among the investigated Si particles,the sample that exhibited a reversible capacity of more than 2500 mAh g^(-1),a first coulombic efficiency of 89.26%and an excellent cycling stability,has great potential for use in the battery industry.Guobin Zhu Yan Wang Siming Yang Qunting Qu Honghe Zheng 2019Journal of Materiomics2019,5,2:2
12Devonian integrative stratigraphy and timescale of China显示文摘The Global Boundary Stratotype Sections and Points(GSSPs) for the bases of all seven international Devonian stages have been formally defined and ratified by IUGS till 1996, and nowadays, the main tasks for Devonian stratigraphers include further subdivision of these standard stages, strictly constrained absolute ages for the boundaries, and precise neritic-pelagic and marine-terrestrial correlations using multidisciplinary stratigraphy methods. Establishment of high-resolution Devonian integrative stratigraphy framework and timescale of China would play an important role in improving regional and international correlation, facilitating the recognition of important stratigraphic levels in different paleogeographic settings, and understanding the evolution pattern of biota, paleoclimate and paleoenvironment during this critical interval. 14Motivating Ru-bri site of RuO_(2)by boron doping toward high performance acidic and neutral oxygen evolution显示文摘The electrocatalysis of oxygen evolution reaction(OER)plays a key role in clean energy storage and transfer.Nonetheless,the sluggish kinetics and poor durability under acidic and neutral conditions severely hinder practical applications such as electrolyzer compatible with the powerful proton exchange membrane and biohybrid fuel production.Here,we report a borondoped ruthenium dioxide electrocatalyst(B-RuO_(2))fabricated by a facile boric acid assisted strategy which demonstrates excellent acidic and neutral OER performances.Density functional theory calculations and advanced characterizations reveal that the boron species form an anomalous B–O covalent bonding with the oxygen atoms of RuO_(2)and expose the fully coordinately bridge ruthenium site(Ru-bri site),which seems like a switch that turns on the inactive Ru-bri site into OER-active,resulting in more exposed active sites,modified electronic structure,and optimized binding energy of intermediates.Thus,the B-RuO_(2)exhibits an ultralow overpotential of 200 mV at 10 mA/cm^(2)and maintains excellent stability compared to commercial RuO_(2)in 0.5 M sulfuric acid.Moreover,the superior performance is as well displayed in neutral electrolyte,surpassing most previously reported catalysts.Chongjing Liu Beibei Sheng Quan Zhou Dengfeng Cao Honghe Ding Shuangming Chen Pengjun Zhang Yujian Xia Xiaojun Wu Li Song 2022Nano Research2022,15,8:1
