1Variation of the Kuroshio intrusion pathways northeast of Taiwan using the Lagrangian method显示文摘The seasonal variations of the Kuroshio intrusion pathways northeast of Taiwan were investigated using observational data from satellite-tracked sea surface drifters and a numerical particle-tracking experiment based on a high-resolution numerical ocean model. The results of sea surface drifter data observed from 1989 to 2013 indicate that the Kuroshio surface intrusion follows two distinct pathways: one is a northwestward intrusion along the northern coast of Taiwan Island, and the other is a direct intrusion near the turn of the shelf break. The former occurs primarily in the winter, while the latter exists year round. A particle-tracking experiment in the high-resolution numerical model reproduces the two observed intrusion paths by the sea surface drifters. The three-dimensional structure of the Kuroshio intrusion is revealed by the model results. 2Effects of surface waves and sea spray on air–sea fluxes during the passage of Typhoon Hagupit显示文摘Air–sea exchange plays a vital role in the development and maintenance of tropical cyclones(TCs). Although studies have suggested the dependence of air–sea fluxes on surface waves and sea spray, how these processes modify those fluxes under TC conditions have not been sufficiently investigated based on in-situ observations.Using continuous meteorological and surface wave data from a moored buoy in the northern South China Sea,this study examines the effects of surface waves and sea spray on air–sea fluxes during the passage of Typhoon Hagupit. The mooring was within about 40 km of the center of Hagupit. Surface waves could increase momentum flux to the ocean by about 15%, and sea spray enhanced both sensible and latent heat fluxes to the atmosphere,causing Hagupit to absorb 500 W/m^2 more heat flux from the ocean. 4Bioactive extracellular matrix scaffolds engineered with proangiogenic proteoglycan mimetics and loaded with endothelial progenitor cells promote neovascularization and diabetic wound healing显示文摘Diabetic ischemic wound treatment remains a critical clinical challenge.Neovascularization plays a significant role in wound healing during all stages of the tissue repair process.Strategies that enhance angiogenesis and neovascularization and improve ischemic pathology may promote the healing of poor wounds,particularly diabetic wounds in highly ischemic conditions.We previously identified a cyclic peptide LXW7 that specifically binds to integrinαvβ3 on endothelial progenitor cells(EPCs)and endothelial cells(ECs),activates vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF)receptors,and promotes EC growth and maturation.In this study,we designed and synthesized a multi-functional pro-angiogenic molecule by grafting LXW7 and collagen-binding peptides(SILY)to a dermatan sulfate(DS)glycosaminoglycan backbone,named LXW7-DS-SILY,and further employed this multi-functional molecule to functionalize collagen-based extracellular matrix(ECM)scaffolds.We confirmed that LXW7-DS-SILY modification significantly promoted EPC attachment and growth on the ECM scaffolds in vitro and supported EPC survival in vivo in the ischemic environment.When applied in an established Zucker Diabetic Fatty(ZDF)rat ischemic skin flap model,LXW7-DS-SILY-functionalized ECM scaffolds loaded with EPCs significantly improved wound healing,enhanced neovascularization and modulated collagen fibrillogenesis in the ischemic environment.Altogether,this study provides a promising novel treatment to accelerate diabetic ischemic wound healing,thereby reducing limb amputation and mortality of diabetic patients.Siqi He Tanaya Walimbe Hongyuan Chen Kewa Gao Priyadarsini Kumar Yifan Wei Dake Hao Ruiwu Liu Diana L.Farmer Kit S.Lam Jianda Zhou Alyssa Panitch Aijun Wang 2022Bioactive Materials2022,7,4:2

7Injectable Self‑Healing Adhesive pH‑Responsive Hydrogels Accelerate Gastric Hemostasis and Wound Healing显示文摘Endoscopic mucosal resection(EMR)and endoscopic submucosal dissection(ESD)are well-established therapeutics for gastrointestinal neoplasias,but complications after EMR/ESD,including bleeding and perforation,result in additional treatment morbidity and even threaten the lives of patients.Thus,designing biomaterials to treat gastric bleeding and wound healing after endoscopic treatment is highly desired and remains a challenge.Herein,a series of injectable pH-responsive selfhealing adhesive hydrogels based on acryloyl-6-aminocaproic acid(AA)and AA-g-N-hydroxysuccinimide(AA-NHS)were developed,and their great potential as endoscopic sprayable bioadhesive materials to efficiently stop hemorrhage and promote the wound healing process was further demonstrated in a swine gastric hemorrhage/wound model.The hydrogels showed a suitable gelation time,an autonomous and efficient self-healing capacity,hemostatic properties,and good biocompatibility.With the introduction of AA-NHS as a micro-cross-linker,the hydrogels exhibited enhanced adhesive strength.A swine gastric hemorrhage in vivo model demonstrated that the hydrogels showed good hemostatic performance by stopping acute arterial bleeding and preventing delayed bleeding.A gastric wound model indicated that the hydrogels showed excellent treatment effects with significantly enhanced wound healing with type I collagen deposition,α-SMA expression,and blood vessel formation.These injectable self-healing adhesive hydrogels exhibited great potential to treat gastric wounds after endoscopic treatment.Jiahui He Zixi Zhang Yutong Yang Fenggang Ren Jipeng Li Shaojun Zhu Feng Ma Rongqian Wu Yi Lv Gang He Baolin Guo Dake Chu 2021Nano-Micro Letters2021,13,5:1
8Growth of single-walled carbon nanotubes from Ag15 cluster catalysts显示文摘Chirality-specific growth of single-walled carbon nanotubes(SWNTs) remains a challenge for their practical applications in electronics. Here, we explored the surface growth of SWNTs by utilizing the atomic-precise silver cluster complex [Ag_(15){1,3,5–(C:C)_3–C_6H_3}_2(Py[8])_3–(CF_3SO_3)_3](CF_3SO_3)_6(Py[8] is abbreviation for octamethylazacalix[8]pyridine) as a catalyst precursor. The diameters of most acquired SWNTs distributed in the range of 1.2–1.4 nm, which is suitable for making high performance field-effect transistors. The high quality of the obtained SWNTs was evidenced by Raman spectroscopy and electrical measurements. 9A New Efficient Blind Signcryption显示文摘In a blind signcryption, besides the functions of digital signature and encryption algorithm for authentication and confidentiality, a user can delegates another user’s capability with the anonymity of the participants guaranteed. Some blind signcryp tions were proposed but without public verifiability. In this paper a blind signcryption with public verifiability that is proved to be efficient and secure is proposed. Through the security analysis, we proved that the scheme can offer confidentiality, integrity, unforgeability, non-repudiation and public verifiability. 13Harvesting random embedding for high-frequency change-point detection in temporal complex systems显示文摘Recent investigations have revealed that dynamics of complex networks and systems are crucially dependent on the temporal structures. Accurate detection of the time instant at which a system changes its internal structures has become a tremendously significant mission, beneficial to fully understanding the underlying mechanisms of evolving systems, and adequately modeling and predicting the dynamics of the systems as well. In real-world applications, due to a lack of prior knowledge on the explicit equations of evolving systems, an open challenge is how to develop a practical and model-free method to achieve the mission based merely on the time-series data recorded from real-world systems. Here, we develop such a model-free approach, named temporal change-point detection(TCD), and integrate both dynamical and statistical methods to address this important challenge in a novel way. The proposed TCD approach, basing on exploitation of spatial information of the observed time series of high dimensions, is able not only to detect the separate change points of the concerned systems without knowing, a priori, any information of the equations of the systems, but also to harvest all the change points emergent in a relatively high-frequency manner, which cannot be directly achieved by using the existing methods and techniques.Practical effectiveness is comprehensively demonstrated using the data from the representative complex dynamics and real-world systems from biology to geology and even to social science.Jia-Wen Hou Huan-Fei Ma Dake He Jie Sun Qing Nie Wei Lin 2022National Science Review2022,9,4:1
