1Reconfigurable directional coupler in lithium niobate crystal fabricated by three-dimensional femtosecond laser focal field engineering显示文摘For crystals, depressed cladding waveguides have advantages such as preservation of the spectroscopic as well as non-linear properties and the capability to guide both horizontal and vertical polarization modes, but fabrication is always quite time consuming. In addition, it is usually difficult to couple modes propagating in different depressed cladding waveguides through evanescent field overlap, so it is often required to dynamically reconfigure photonic waveguide devices using external fields for classical or quantum applications. Here, we experimentally demonstrate the single-scan femtosecond laser transverse writing of depressed cladding waveguides to form a 2 × 2 directional coupler inside lithium niobate crystal, which is integrated with two deeply embedded microelectrodes on both sides of the interaction region to reconfigure the coupling. By focal field engineering of the femtosecond laser, we specially generate a three-dimensional longitudinally oriented ring-shaped focal intensity profile composed of 16 discrete spots to simultaneously write the entire cladding region. The fabricated waveguides exhibit good single guided modes in two orthogonal polarizations at 1550 nm. By applying voltage to the deeply embedded microelectrodes fabricated with the femtosecond laser ablation followed by selective electroless plating, we successfully facilitate the light coupling from the input arm to the cross arm and thus actively tune the splitting ratio. 2A triple-RBD-based mucosal vaccine provides broad protectionagainst SARS-CoV-2 variants of concern显示文摘The rapid mutation and spread of SARS-CoV-2 variants urge the development of effective mucosal vaccines to provide broadspectrum protection against the initial infection and thereby curb the transmission potential.Here,we designed a chimeric tripleRBD immunogen,3Ro-NC,harboring one Delta RBD and two Omicron RBDs within a novel protein scaffold.3Ro-NC elicits potent and broad RBD-specific neutralizing immunity against SARS-CoV-2 variants of concern.Notably,intranasal immunization with 3RoNC plus the mucosal adjuvant KFD(3Ro-NC+KFDi.n)elicits coordinated mucosal IgA and higher neutralizing antibody specificity(closer antigenic distance)against the Omicron variant.In Omicron-challenged human ACE2 transgenic mice,3Ro-NC+KFDi.n immunization significantly reduces the tissue pathology in the lung and lowers the viral RNA copy numbers in both the lung(85.7-fold)and the nasal turbinate(13.6-fold).Nasal virologic control is highly correlated with RBD-specific secretory IgA antibodies.Our data show that 3Ro-NC plus KFD is a promising mucosal vaccine candidate for protection against SARS-CoV-2 Omicron infection,pathology and transmission potential.Jingyi Yang Mei-Qin Liu Lin Liu Xian Li Mengxin Xu Haofeng Lin Shuning Liu Yunqi Hu Bei Li Bowen Liu Min Li Ying Sun Yao-Qing Chen Zheng-Li Shi Huimin Yan 2022Cellular & Molecular Immunology2022,19,11:3

4Exploration of Management Workflow of Cataract Surgery in an Impoverished Population in Urban China显示文摘Purpose:.To explore and establish a rational management workflow for a free cataract surgery program for the poor population in urban China, aiming to improve surgical efficiency.Methods:.Establishment of a management workflow mainly includes system design and an auxiliary facility. System design procedures consist of outpatient screening, outpatient physical examination,.surgical procedures,.and postoperative clinic visits. After establishing the management workflow of cataract surgery, a free cataract surgery program was conducted for 15 months.Results: Based upon the established management mode, 9003 patients received preoperative screening and 2358 underwent cataract surgery..During the 15-month investigation,.each procedure was successfully conducted,.the efficiency of screening and operation attained the highest standards in China,.and no surgical malpractice occurred intraoperatively.Conclusion:.In this study,.a management workflow for cataract surgery was designed for a poverty relief project in urban China. 5Buckle Propagation in Steel Pipes of Ultra-high Strength:Experiments,Theories and Numerical Simulations显示文摘In this paper,experimental,theoretical and numerical approaches were employed to scrutinize the buckle propagation events occurring in pipes subjected to external pressure.Two groups of samples with different radius-to-thickness ratios were fabricated using steel pipes of ultra-high strength and were subjected to compression of external pressure in a sealed pressure vessel specially designed and customized for the experiment.Experimental results were recorded through a data acquisition system.For facilitating the theoretical calculations,uniaxial tensile tests were performed on tensile pieces cut from the same pipes to obtain the material properties.It was found from the experimental results that once a buckle is initiated in a pipe,the external pressure dropped to a specific value called buckle propagation pressure and kept at this level until the whole pipe is flattened into a dog-bone shape.Based on the measured material properties and geometric parameters,theoretical solutions were computed using established ring models and shell model,and finite element predictions were also obtained from ABAQUS software.The efficiency and accuracy of the shell model and finite element model were expounded by comparing various theoretical solutions and numerical predictions with the experimental results.With the authenticated shell model and finite element model,a deep insight into the phenomenon of buckle propagation of pressurized long pipes was provided by performing a series of parametric study.Haofeng Liang Jiahui Zhou Jixin Lin Fusong Jin Fei Xia Jianghong Xue Jiachu Xu 2020Acta Mechanica Solida Sinica2020,33,4:0

8Production of XX neo-male mandarin fish, Siniperca chuatsi, after sexual differentiation by oral administration of 17α-methyltestosterone显示文摘A well-known fact about mandarin fish(Siniperca chuatsi)is that females grow faster than males.Mandarin fish that have all-female populations have economic advantages,but traditional neo-male fish are difficult to produce.In this study,indirect feeding of 500 mg/kg 17α-methyltestosterone(MT)to XX mandarin fish(60 dpf,days post fertilization)with completely differentiated ovaries induced secondary sex reversal.At 40 days after MT treatment,14.7%of mandarin fish with complete reversal was produced,which showed for the first time that XX mandarin fishes with differentiated ovaries still have potentially bisexual germ cells and the plasticity of sex reversal.In the MT treatment group,there was no significant difference in survival compared to the control group.The body weight of the MT treatment group was significantly lower than that of the control group 40 days after treatment(dat)(P<0.05).During MT treatment,serum 11-KT and T concentrations increased and serum E2 concentration decreased in the MT treatment group,but there was no significant difference in hormone levels between the MT treatment group and the control group.A masculinization of mandarin fish was also confirmed by the expression patterns of sex-specific genes sox9,dmrt1,cyp19a1a and foxl2.A significant amount of sox9 and dmrt1 was expressed in the fish gonads of the MT treatment group,whereas cyp19a1a and foxl2 were minimally expressed in the fish gonads.Jingjun Huang Shiyan Liu Haofeng Ouyang Chong Han Meihui Li Linqiang Han Shuisheng Li Guifeng Li Haoran Lin Yong Zhang 2023Water Biology and Security2023,2,1:0
9Identifying a melanogenesis-related candidate gene by a high-quality genome assembly and population diversity analysis in Hypsizygus marmoreus显示文摘Hypsizygus marmoreus is one of the most important edible fungi in Basidiomycete division and includes white and gray strains.However,very limited knowledge is known about the genomic structures and the genetic basis for the white/gray diversity of this mushroom.Here,we report the near-complete high-quality H.marmoreus genome at the chromosomal level.Comparative genomics analysis indicates that chromosome structures were relatively conserved,and variations in collinearity and chromosome number were mainly attributed by chromosome split/fusion events in Aragicales,whereas the fungi genome experienced many genomic chromosome fracture,fusion,and genomic replication events after the split of Aragicales from Basidiomycetes.Resequencing of 57 strains allows us to classify the population into four major groups and associate genetic variations with morphological features,indicating that white strains were not originated independently.We further generated genetic populations and identified a cytochrome P450 as the candidate causal gene for the melanogenesis in H.marmoreus based on bulked segregant analysis (BSA)and comparative transcriptome analysis.The high-quality H.marmoreus genome and diversity data compiled in this study provide new knowledge and resources for the molecular breeding of H.marmoreus as well as the evolution of Basidiomycete.Gang Wang Lianfu Chen Weiqi Tang Yuanyuan Wang Qing Zhang Hongbo Wang Xuan Zhou Haofeng Wu Lin Guo Meijie Dou Lei Liu Baiyu Wang Jingxian Lin Baogui Xie Zhengchao Wang ZhongJian Liu Ray Ming Jisen Zhang 2021Journal of Genetics and Genomics2021,48,1:0
