1Intelligent metasurfaces:control,communication and computing显示文摘Controlling electromagnetic waves and information simultaneously by information metasurfaces is of central importance in modern society.Intelligent metasurfaces are smart platforms to manipulate the wave-information-matter interactions without manual intervention by synergizing engineered ultrathin structures with active devices and algorithms,which evolve from the passive composite materials for tailoring wave-matter interactions that cannot be achieved in nature.Here,we review the recent progress of intelligent metasurfaces in wave-information-matter controls by providing the historical background and underlying physical mechanisms.Then we explore the application of intelligent metasurfaces in developing novel wireless communication architectures,with particular emphasis on metasurface-modulated backscatter wireless communications.We also explore the wave-based computing by using the intelligent metasurfaces,focusing on the emerging research direction in intelligent sensing.Finally,we comment on the challenges and highlight the potential routes for the further developments of the intelligent metasurfaces for controls,communications and computing.Lianlin Li Hanting Zhao Che Liu Long Li Tie Jun Cui 2022eLight2022,2,1:7
2Middle Jurassic-early Cretaceous radiolarian assemblages of the western Yarlung Zangbo Suture Zone: Implications for the evolution of the Neo-Tethys显示文摘Cherts in the Zhongba melange of the western Yarlung Zangbo Suture Zone(YZSZ) contain well preserved radiolarian assemblages. These radiolarian assemblages indicate that the Zhongba melange has middle Jurassic-early Cretaceous remnant, are coeval with those from the central and eastern parts of the YZSZ. Cherts from the Najiu area yield Aalenian to Aptian radiolarians, while cherts interbedded with siliceous mudstones from the Bielongjiala area yield Aptian radiolarians, indicating that terrigenousderived sediments were deposited during early Aptian. The above observations indicate that the entire YZSZ have a similar geochronological framework and thus they underwent similar geological evolution:(1) during the Jurassic, the Neo-Tethys was a wide ocean with pelagic sediments distal from continents;(2) during the Cretaceous(around 130-120 Ma), the Neo-Tethys started to subduct along the southern margin of the Lhasa block, and terrigenous-derived siliceous mudstone began deposition.Hanting Zhong Jingen Dai Chengshan Wang Yalin Li Yushuai Wei 2017Geoscience Frontiers2017,8,5:6
3Intelligent metasurface imager and recognizer显示文摘There is an increasing need to remotely monitor people in daily life using radio-frequency probe signals.However,conventional systems can hardly be deployed in real-world settings since they typically require objects to either deliberately cooperate or carry a wireless active device or identification tag.To accomplish complicated successive tasks using a single device in real time,we propose the simultaneous use of a smart metasurface imager and recognizer,empowered by a network of artificial neural networks(ANNs)for adaptively controlling data flow.Here,three ANNs are employed in an integrated hierarchy,transforming measured microwave data into images of the whole human body,classifying specifically designated spots(hand and chest)within the whole image,and recognizing human hand signs instantly at a Wi-Fi frequency of 2.4 GHz.Instantaneous in situ full-scene imaging and adaptive recognition of hand signs and vital signs of multiple non-cooperative people were experimentally demonstrated.We also show that the proposed intelligent metasurface system works well even when it is passively excited by stray Wi-Fi signals that ubiquitously exist in our daily lives.The reported strategy could open up a new avenue for future smart cities,smart homes,human-device interaction interfaces,health monitoring,and safety screening free of visual privacy issues.Lianlin Li Ya Shuang Qian Ma Haoyang Li Hanting Zhao Menglin Wei Che Liu Chenglong Hao Cheng-Wei Qiu Tie Jun Cui 2019Light(Science & Applications)2019,8,1:5
4One-bit quantization is good for programmable coding metasurfaces显示文摘The information-carrying programmable metasurfaces have found widespread applications in communication, sensing, and other related areas. However, there is a fundamental but unresolved problem,i.e., the rigorous understanding of the quantization of metasurface coding. Here, we theoretically investigate the performance difference between one-bit and continuous information-encoding metasurfaces. To this end,we derive analytical representations of system responses in various cases(single-input single-output, singleinput multiple-output, and multiple-input multiple-output). We analyze the impact of one-bit coding(in contrast to continuous coding) in terms of the resulting channel cross-talk and reduction of information capacity in various representative scenarios from wireless communication and holography. Our main finding indicates that the one-bit coding yields a satisfactory performance in most practical scenarios;we also show that in many cases there are smart ways to mildly relax optimization constraints in order to reduce the performance gap between the one-bit and continuous coding. 5Tissue expression,association analysis between three novel SNPs of the RXRαgene and growth traits in Chinese indigenous cattle显示文摘Retinoid X receptor(RXR) α is a member of the nuclear hormone receptor superfamily that mediates the biological effects on several hormones,vitamins,and regulates lipid,glucose and energy metabolism.In this study,the tissue expression profiles of the bovine RXRαgene and association analysis of single nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs) with growth traits were carried out in 413 Chinese native cattle.The expression profile was analysed in ten Jiaxian cattle tissues by real-time PCR,and the results showed that RXRαgene was abundantly expressed in adipose tissue and spleen,moderately expressed in heart,liver,lung,kidney,muscle and testis.Meanwhile,three SNPs(T27919A,T28139C and G28142A) and five haplotypes were identified.Haplotype with TTG was dominant with frequency of 69.1%.Chi-square test showed all populations were in Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium(P>0.05) at the three sites except Jiaxian cattle at G28142A site and Qinchuan cattle at T27919A site.Statistical analysis of combined sites showed that the individuals with TTGA genotype had significantly higher heart girth than those with TAGG genotype(P<0.05) and the animals with AAGA genotype had higher body weight than those with TAGG genotype(P<0.05) in T27919A-G28142A site.Heart girth,abdominal circumference and body weight of individuals with TCAG genotype were exceedingly higher than those with TTGG(P<0.01),TTGA and TCGG(P<0.05) in T28139C-G28142A site.For T27919A-T28139C site,the individuals of TCTA and TCTT genotype had significantly higher heart girth and lower height at hip cross than those with TTTA(P<0.05),and the body weight of TCAA and TCTT genotype individuals was higher than those with TTTA(P<0.05).In conclusion,these results provided evidence that the polymorphisms of RXRαgene were associated with growth traits and might apply to Chinese indigenous yellow cattle breeding program as a possible candidate for marker-assisted selection(MAS).MA Yun GAO HanTing LIN Feng CHEN NingBo XU YongJie JIANG JinHang LI Fen LU FangRu ZHAO Man SHI KuiLin CHENG Ni LI JunYa 2013Chinese Science Bulletin2013,58,18:1
6Toxic effects of nano-TiO_(2)in bivalves——A synthesis of meta-analysis and bibliometric analysis显示文摘Since the beginning of the 21 st century,the increasing production and application of nano-TiO_(2)in consumer products have inevitably led to its release into aquatic systems and therefore caused the exposure of aquatic organisms,resulting in growing environmental concerns.However,the safety of nano-TiO_(2)in aquatic environments has not been systematically assessed,especially in coastal and estuary waters where a large number of filterfeeding animals live.Bivalves are considered around the world to be a unique target group for nanoparticle toxicity,and numerous studies have been conducted to test the toxic effects of nano-TiO_(2)on bivalves.The aim of this review was to systematically summarize and analyze published data concerning the toxicological effects of nano-TiO_(2)in bivalves.In particular,the toxicity of nano-TiO_(2)to the antioxidant system and cell physiology was subjected to meta-analysis to reveal the mechanism of the toxicological effects of nano-TiO_(2)and the factors affecting its toxicological effects.To reveal the cooperation,hot keywords and cocitations in this field,bibliometric analysis was conducted,and the results showed that the toxicological molecular mechanisms of nano-TiO_(2)and the combined effects of nano-TiO_(2)and other environmental factors are two major hot spots.Finally,some perspectives and insights were provided in this review for future research on nano-TiO_(2)toxicology in bivalves.Zhuoqing Li Menghong Hu Hanting Song Daohui Lin Youji Wang 2021Journal of Environmental Sciences2021,33,6:1

9Intelligent indoor metasurface robotics显示文摘Intelligent indoor robotics is expected to rapidly gain importance in crucial areas of our modern society such as at-home health care and factories.Yet,existing mobile robots are limited in their ability to perceive and respond to dynamically evolving complex indoor environments because of their inherently limited sensing and computing resources that are,moreover,traded off against their cruise time and payload.To address these formidable challenges,here we propose intelligent indoor metasurface robotics(I2MR),where all sensing and computing are relegated to a centralized robotic brain endowed with microwave perception;and I2MR’s limbs(motorized vehicles,airborne drones,etc.)merely execute the wirelessly received instructions from the brain.The key aspect of our concept is the centralized use of a computation-enabled programmable metasurface that can flexibly mold microwave propagation in the indoor wireless environment,including a sensing and localization modality based on configurational diversity and a communication modality to establish a preferential high-capacity wireless link between the I2MR’s brain and limbs.The metasurface-enhanced microwave perception is capable of realizing low-latency and high-resolution three-dimensional imaging of humans,even around corners and behind thick concrete walls,which is the basis for action decisions of the I2MR’s brain.I2MR is thus endowed with real-time and full-context awareness of its operating indoor environment.We implement,experimentally,a proof-of-principle demonstration at∼2.4 GHz,in which I2MR provides health-care assistance to a human inhabitant.The presented strategy opens a new avenue for the conception of smart and wirelessly networked indoor robotics.Hanting Zhao Shengguo Hu Hongrui Zhang Zhuo Wang Hao Dong Philipp del Hougne Tie Jun Cui Lianlin Li 2023National Science Review2023,10,8:0
10In-situ manipulation of wireless link with reinforcement-learningdriven programmable metasurface in indoor environment显示文摘It is of great importance to control flexibly wireless links in the modern society,especially with the advent of the Internet of Things(IoT),fifth-generation communication(5G),and beyond.Recently,we have witnessed that programmable metasurface(PM)or reconfigurable intelligent surface(RIS)has become a key enabling technology for manipulating flexibly the wireless link;however,one fundamental but challenging issue is to online design the PM's control sequence in a complicated wireless environment,such as the real-world indoor environment.Here,we propose a reinforcement learning(RL)approach to online control of the PM and thus in-situ improve the quality of the underline wireless link.We designed an inexpensive one-bit PM working at around 2.442 GHz and developed associated RL algorithms,and demonstrated experimentally that it is capable of enhancing the quality of commodity wireless link by a factor of about 10 dB and beyond in multiple scenarios,even if the wireless transmitter is in the glancing angle of the PM in the realworld indoor environment.Moreover,we also prove that our RL algorithm can be extended to improve the wireless signals of receivers in dual-receiver scenario.We faithfully expect that the presented technique could hold important potentials in future wireless communication,smart homes,and many other fields.Jiawen Xu Rong Zhang Jie Ma Hanting Zhao Lianlin Li 2023Journal of Information and Intelligence2023,1,3:0
11A knowledge graph for standard carbonate microfacies and its application in the automatical reconstruction of the relative sea-level curve显示文摘The reconstruction of high-resolution sea-level variation curves in deep time based on the standard car-bonate microfacies knowledge graph(SMFKG)is of great scientific significance for exploring the Earth system evolution and predicting future sea-level and climate changes.In this study,the concepts,attri-butes,and relationships among standard carbonate microfacies(SMF)are comprehensively analyzed;an ontology layer is established and its data layer is constructed using thin-section descriptions;and finally,the SMFKG is established.Additionally,based on the knowledge graph,an application for automatically identifying SMF using identification markers and reconstructing the high-resolution relative sea-level variation curve using the SMF and facies zones is compiled.Then,all thin sections of the late Ediacaran Dengying Formation in the western margin of the Yangtze Platform are observed and described in detail,the SMF and facies zones are identified automatically,and the relative sea-level curve is recon-structed automatically using the SMFKG.The reconstruction results show that the Yangtze Platform experienced four sea-level rise and fall cycles in the late Ediacaran,of which two intense regressions led to subaerial-exposed unconformities in the interior and top of the Dengying Formation,which is highly consistent with previous research results.This shows that the high-resolution relative sea-level variation curve in deep time can be reconstructed efficiently and intelligently using the SMFKG.Additionally,in the near future,the combination of an automatic digital slide-scanning system,machine-learning techniques,and the SMFKG can achieve one-stop fully automatic SMF recognition and reconstruction of high-resolution relative sea-level variation curves in deep time,which has a high application value.Han Wang Hanting Zhong Anqing Chen Keran Li Hang He Zhe Qi Dongyu Zheng Hongyi Zhao Mingcai Hou 2023Geoscience Frontiers2023,14,5:0
12Alternative polyadenylation-related genetic variants contribute to bladder cancer risk显示文摘Aberrant alternative polyadenylation(APA)events play an important role in cancers,but little is known about whether APA-related genetic variants contribute to the susceptibility to bladder cancer.Previous genome-wide association study performed APA quantitative trait loci(apaQTL)analyses in bladder cancer,and identified 17955 single nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs).We found that gene symbols of APA affected by apaQTL-associated SNPs were closely correlated with cancer signaling pathways,high mutational burden,and immune infiltration.Association analysis showed that apaQTL-associated SNPs rs34402449 C>A,rs2683524 C>T,and rs11540872 C>G were significantly associated with susceptibility to bladder cancer(rs34402449:OR=1.355,95%confidence interval[CI]:1.159-1.583,P=1.33×10^(−4);rs2683524:OR=1.378,95%CI:1.164-1.632,P=2.03×10^(−4);rs11540872:OR=1.472,95%CI:1.193-1.815,P=3.06×10^(−4)).Cumulative effect analysis showed that the number of risk genotypes and smoking status were significantly associated with an increased risk of bladder cancer(P_(trend)=2.87×10^(−12)).We found that PRR13,being demonstrated the most significant effect on cell proliferation in bladder cancer cell lines,was more highly expressed in bladder cancer tissues than in adjacent normal tissues.Moreover,the rs2683524 T allele was correlated with shorter 3′untranslated regions of PRR13 and increased PRR13 expression levels.Collectively,our findings have provided informative apaQTL resources and insights into the regulatory mechanisms linking apaQTL-associated variants to bladder cancer risk.Ting Liu Jingjing Gu Chuning Li Mengfan Guo Lin Yuan Qiang Lv Chao Qin Mulong Du Haiyan Chu Hanting Liu Zhengdong Zhang 2023The Journal of Biomedical Research2023,37,6:0
13Digital light processing 3D printing for microfluidic chips with enhanced resolution via dosing-and zoning-controlled vat photopolymerization显示文摘Conventional manufacturing techniques to fabricate microfluidic chips,such as soft lithography and hot embossing process,have limitations that include difficulty in preparing multiple-layered structures,cost-and labor-consuming fabrication process,and low productivity.Digital light processing(DLP)technology has recently emerged as a costefficient microfabrication approach for the 3D printing of microfluidic chips;however,the fabrication resolution for microchannels is still limited to sub-100 microns at best.Here,we developed an innovative DLP printing strategy for high resolution and scalable microchannel fabrication by dosing-and zoning-controlled vat photopolymerization(DZC-VPP).Specifically,we proposed a modified mathematical model to precisely predict the accumulated UV irradiance for resin photopolymerization,thereby providing guidance for the fabrication of microchannels with enhanced resolution.By fine-tuning the printing parameters,including optical irradiance,exposure time,projection region,and step distance,we can precisely tailor the penetration irradiance stemming from the photopolymerization of the neighboring resin layers,thereby preventing channel blockage due to UV overexposure or compromised bonding stability owing to insufficient resin curing.Remarkably,this strategy can allow the preparation of microchannels with cross-sectional dimensions of 20μm×20μm using a commercial printer with a pixel size of 10μm×10μm;this is significantly higher resolution than previous reports.In addition,this method can enable the scalable and biocompatible fabrication of microfluidic drop-maker units that can be used for cell encapsulation.In general,the current DZC-VPP method can enable major advances in precise and scalable microchannel fabrication and represents a significant step forward for widespread applications of microfluidics-based techniques in biomedical fields.Zhiming Luo Haoyue Zhang Runze Chen Hanting Li Fang Cheng Lijun Zhang Jia Liu Tiantian Kong Yang Zhang Huanan Wang 2023Microsystems & Nanoengineering2023,9,4:0
