| 1 | Monoamine alterations and rotational asymmetry in a rat model of Parkinson's disease following lateral ventricle transplantation of human amniotic epithelial cells显示文摘BACKGROUND: Human amniotic epithelial cells (HAECs) can differentiate into neurons, astrocytes,and oligodendrocytes. They biologically secrete many active neurotrophins and have the capacity tometabolize dopamine enzymes. These features underlie a theoretical basis for the treatment ofParkinson's disease (PD).OBJECTIVE: To investigate the survival and differentiation of transplanted HAECs in the lateralventricle of PD model rats, and to explore its effect on circling behavior, as well as levels ofdopamine (DA), the metabolite homovanillic acid, dihydroxyphenyl acetic acid,5-hydroxyindoleacetic acid, and 5-hydroxytryptamine in the striatum.DESIGN, TIME AND SETTING: A randomized, controlled, animal study was performed at theInstitute of Biochemistry and Cell Biology, Shanghai Institute for Biological Sciences, ChineseAcademy of Sciences, and Shanghai Celstar Institute of Biotechnology from May 2007 to December2008.MATERIALS: HAECs were derived from the placental chorion following caesarean delivery at theShanghai International Maternal and Child Health Hospital. 6-hydroxydopamine (6-OHDA), andmouse anti-human Vimentin monoclonal antibody were purchased from Sigma, USA; mouseanti-human nestin and tyrosine hydroxylase (TH) monoclonal antibodies were purchased fromChemicon, USA.METHODS: A total of 114 healthy, adult, Sprague Dawley rats were randomly assigned to twogroups: PD model [n = 90, stereotactic microinjection of 2 μL 6-OHDA (3.5 μg/μL) into the striatum]and control (n = 24, no treatment). The 51 successful PD model rats were randomly divided into 3subgroups (n = 17): HAEC, PBS, and model. The HAEC and PBS groups were respectively injectedwith 10 μL PBS solution containing 1 x 105/mL HAECs or 10 μL PBS into the lateral ventricle. Themodel group was not treated.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: TH protein expression in the striatum was evaluated byimmunohistochemistry 5 weeks after HAEC transplantation. At 10 weeks, HAEC survival in thelateral ventricle was investigated by immunofluorescent staining; differentiation of HAECs in thelateral and third ventricles was examined by TH immunohistochemistry; concentrations of DA,homovanillic acid, dihydroxyphenyl acetic acid, 5-hydroxyindoleacetic acid, and 5-hydroxytryptaminein the striatum, as well as DA concentration in the cerebrospinal fluid, were measured withhigh-performance liquid chromatography-electrochemical detection. Circling behavior of PD modelrats was consecutively observed for 10 weeks following intraperitoneal injection of amphetamine 1week after successful model establishment.RESULTS: In the HAEC group, the number of TH-positive cells significantly increased in thestriatum, and circling behavior significantly decreased, compared with the PBS and model groups(P < 0.01). In addition, monoamine concentrations in the striatum, as well as DA concentrations inthe cerebrospinal fluid, significantly increased, compared with the PBS group (P < 0.05-0.01 ).Moreover, a large number of nestin-, vimentin-, and TH-positive cells were observed in the lateraland third ventricles following HAEC injection. CONCLUSION: HAECs survived for 10 weeks with no overgrowth following transplantation into thelateral ventricle of PD model rats. Moreover, the cells differentiated into dopaminergic neurons,which increased DA secretion. | 4 | High-performance solar-blind ultraviolet photodetector based on electrospun TiO2-ZnTiO3 heterojunction nano- wires显示文摘High-performance solar-blind UV (ultraviolet) photodetectors (PDs) based on low-dimension semiconducting nanostructures with high sensitivity, excellent cycle stability, and the ability to operate in harsh environments are critical for solar observations, space communication, UV astronomy, and missile tracking. In this study, TiO2-ZnTiO3 heterojunction nanowire-based PDs are successfully developed and used to detect solar-blind UV light. A photoconductive analysis indicates that the fabricated PDs are sensitive to UV illumination, with high sensitivity, good stability, and high reproducibility. Further analysis indicates that the rich existence of grain boundaries within the TiO2-ZnTiO3 nanowire can greatly decrease the dark current and recombination of the electron-hole pairs and thereby significantly increase the device's photosensitivity, spectra responsivity (1.1 ~ 106), and external quantum efficiency (4.3 ~ 108 %). Moreover, the PDs exhibit good photodetective performance with fast photoresponse and recovery and excellent thermal stability at temperatures as high as 175 ℃. | 5 | Incidence and prevalence of moyamoya disease in urban China: a nationwide retrospective cohort study显示文摘Background and objective Moyamoya disease(MMD)is an increasingly recognised cause of stroke,mainly described in East Asia.China is the largest nation in Asia,but few studies reported the epidemiology of MMD,especially at a national level.We aimed to estimate the incidence and prevalence of MMD in China.Methods We performed a population-based study using data from the national databases of Urban Basic Medical Insurance between 2013 and 2016,covering approximately 0.50 billion individuals.MMD cases were identified by diagnostic code(International Classification of Diseases,10th Revision I67.5)or related diagnostic text.Results A total of 1987 MMD patients(mean age 44.45±14.30 years,female-to male ratio 1.12)were identified,representing a national crude incidence of 0.59(95%CI:0.49 to 0.68)and a prevalence of 1.01(95%CI:0.81 to 1.21)per 100000 person-years in 2016.Rates were higher in females than in males for the incidence(0.66 vs 0.52)and prevalence(1.05 vs 0.90).And the age-specific rates showed a bimodal distribution,with the highest peak in middle-aged group and the second peak in child group.Conclusions Our results confirm that MMD is relatively common in East Asians,but the rates in China were lower than those in other East Asian countries such as Japan and Korea.The unique epidemiological features,including a relatively weak female predominance and a shift in the highest peak of incidence from children to adults,revealed new sight into MMD.Further research is expected to explore the potential pathogenesis of MMD. | Yixin Sun Guoyu Zhou Jingnan Feng Lu Chen Guozhen Liu Jinxi Wang Qingliang Wang Junyou Yu Xiwang Yang Zheng Yang Pei Gao Shengfeng Wang Siyan Zhan | 2021 | Stroke & Vascular Neurology2021,6,4: | 4 |

| 12 | Colossal magnetoresistive p-n junctions of perovskite oxide La_(0.9)Sr_(0.1)MnO_3/SrNb_(0.01)Ti_(0.99)O_3显示文摘We have successfully fabricated the colossal magnetoresistive (CMR) p-n junctions of perovskite oxide La0.9Sr0.1MnO3/SrNb0.01Ti0.99O3 (LSMO/SNTO) with laser molecular beam epitaxy. The I-V characteristics of the LSMO/SNTO p-n junctions as a function of applied magnetic field (05 T) were studied between 100 and 300 K. We found that the p-n junction exhibited the CMR behavior. The CMR ratio rR/R0 (rR = RH - R0) is positive in magnetic fields below 0.13 T and at high temperature, while it displays a negative CMR near 100 K and in magnetic fields over 0.13 T. The CMR ratio values are 8% at 0.1 T and 13% at 5 T and 300 K, 40% at 0.1 T and 150 K, 10% at 0.13 T and 60% at 5 T and 100 K.
