| 1 | Barley:a potential cereal for producing healthy and functional foods显示文摘Barley is the fourth largest cereal crop in the world.It is mainly used for feeding,beer production and food.Barley is receiving more attention from both agricultural and food scientists because of its special chemical composition and health benefits.In comparison with other cereal crops,including wheat,rice and maize,barley grains are rich in dietary fiber(such asβ-glucan)and tocols,which are beneficial to human health.It is well proved that diets rich in those chemicals can provide protection against hypertension,cardiovascular disease,and diabetes.Barley has been widely recognized to have great potential as a healthy or functional food.In this review,we present information about studies on the phys-ical structure of the barley grain and the distribution of its main chemical components,nutrient and functional composition of barley grain and their health benefits,and the approaches of improving and utilizing the nutrient and functional chemicals in barley grain.With the development of processing technologies,functional components in barley grains,especiallyβ-glucan,can be efficiently extracted and concentrated.Moreover,nutrient and functional components in barley grains can be efficiently improved by precise breeding and agronomic approaches.The review high-lights the great potential of barley used as healthy and functional foods,and may be instructive for better utilization of barley in food processing. | La Geng Mengdi Li Guoping Zhan Lingzhen Ye | 2022 | Food Quality and Safety2022,6,2: | 3 |
| 2 | Longitudinal virological changes and underlying pathogenesis in hospitalized COVID-19 patients in Guangzhou,China显示文摘Prolonged viral RNA shedding and recurrence of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)in coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)patients have been reported.However,the clinical outcome and pathogenesis remain unclear.In this study,we recruited 43 laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 patients.We found that prolonged viral RNA shedding or recurrence mainly occurred in severe/critical patients(P<0.05).The average viral shedding time in severe/critical patients was more than 50 days,and up to 100 days in some patients,after symptom onset.However,chest computed tomography gradually improved and complete absorption occurred when SARS-CoV-2 RT-PCR was still positive,but specific antibodies appeared.Furthermore,the viral shedding time significantly decreased when the A1,430G or C12,473T mutation occurred(P<0.01 and FDR<0.01)and increased when G227A occurred(P<0.05 and FDR<0.05).High IL1R1,IL1R2,and TNFRSF21 expression in the host positively correlated with viral shedding time(P<0.05 and false discovery rate<0.05).Prolonged viral RNA shedding often occurs but may not increase disease damage.Prolonged viral RNA shedding is associated with viral mutations and host factors. | Zhengtu Li Yinhu Li Ruilin Sun Shaoqiang Li Lingdan Chen Yangqing Zhan Mingzhou Xie Jiasheng Yang Yanqun Wang Airu Zhu Guoping Gu Le Yu Shuaicheng Li Tingting Liu Zhaoming Chen Wenhua Jian Qian Jiang Xiaofen Su Weili Gu Liyan Chen Jing Cheng Jincun Zhao Wenju Lu Jinping Zheng Shiyue Li Nanshan Zhong Feng Ye | 2021 | Science China(Life Sciences)2021,64,12: | 1 |

| 4 | COVID-19 countermeasures of Chinese national athletes:Prevention,treatment,and return to play显示文摘Under the condition of normalized epidemic,how athletes train and compete well has been in the spotlight.This article reported the symptom,hospitalization and training situation of seven confirmed cases of coronavirusdisease-2019(COVID-19)among Chinese national teams.Moreover,the paper summarized the experience of Chinese national teams in terms of epidemic prevention and control,treatment of infection,and safe return to play.Through a scientific combination of medication and non-medical treatment,seven athletes were all discharged from the hospital.These discharged athletes underwent strict isolation and scientific training before returning to sports teams.Before returning to play,continuous monitoring of physical and mental condition was required.All seven athletes returned to play safely and performed excellently.As for hosting large-scale sporting events,the entire enclosed-loop management from immigration to competition was proposed in this paper.This study could serve as a standard of epidemic prevention and control,treatment for infection and safe return to play during competition and training around the world. | Hui Zhan Feng Gao Minhao Xie Guoping Li Jing Li Jingbin Zhou | 2022 | Sports Medicine and Health Science2022,4,1: | 0 |
