1Spiral CT in gastric carcinoma:Comparison with barium study,fiberoptic gastroscopy and histopathology显示文摘AIM: To evaluate spiral computed tomography (CT) including virtual gastroscopy for diagnosis of gastric carcinoma in comparison with upper gastrointestinal series (UGI),fiberoptic gastroscopy (FG) and histopathology.METHODS: Sixty patients with histologically proven gastric carcinoma (54 advanced and 6 early) were included in this study. The results of spiral CT were compared with those of UGI and FG. Two observers blindly evaluated images of spiral CT and UGI and video recording of FG with consensus in terms of diagnostic confidence with a five-point scale.Sensitivities of lesion detection, Borrmann′s classification of spiral CT, UGI and FG, as well as the accuracy of TNM staging of spiral CT were determined by comparing them to surgical and histological findings.RESULTS: The lesion detection rate was 98 % (59/60),95 % (57/60) and 98 % (59/60) for spiral CT, UGI and FG,respectively. There were no statistical differences in the detection sensitivity among the three techniques (P>0.05).For the sensitivity in Borrmann′s classification, spiral CT was higher than that of UGI (P=0.025) and similar to that of FG (P>0.05). The accuracy of spiral CT in staging the gastric carcinoma was 76.7 %. Six cases of early gastric carcinoma were all detected by spiral CT as well as FG.CONCLUSION: Spiral CT is equivalent to UGI and FG in the detection of gastric carcinoma, and superior to UGI but similar to FG in the Borrmann′s classification of advanced gastric carcinoma. 3Modeling of rotational supercavitating evaporator and the geometrical characteristics of supercavity within显示文摘In this paper,a rotational supercavitating evaporator(RSCE)was at first modeled by means of theoretical analysis approach.The geometrical characteristics of supercavity in the modeled RSCE were then studied through numerical simulations.The current research objectives consist in determination of shape of the supercavitator(which in the plane of rotation generates supercavity occupying the most volume between blades),and location of the area suitable for steam extraction by revealing the inner structure of supercavity.Analytical analysis was performed by solving empirical equations for the shape of RSCE,through which an evaluation of two-dimensional relative position of supercavity trailing edge for different shapes of the supercavitator has been realized.Numerical simulation was then carried out,by numerically solving the unsteady Navier-Stokes equations in their conservation form coupled with the Rayleigh-Plesset cavitation and Shear-Stress Transport turbulence models,for verification of the results obtained from empirical equations.Despite unreliable assumption of applicability of empirical equations we have confirmed similarity of the supercavity shapes obtained by both methods for the same RSCE.Therefore,the shape of supercavitator calculated by using empirical equations is acceptable,which provides a simple but reliable approach for design of RSCE.The inner structure of supercavity obtained by numerical simulation has indicated position and parameters for steam extraction openings for further numerical and experimental studies on the performance of RSCE.Practical application of steam or gas extraction is suggested for solving of some problems associated with cavitating pumping of cryogenic liquid.LIKHACHEV Dmitriy S. 4Theoretical analysis of flamelet model for supersonic turbulent combustion显示文摘Being physically intuitionistic and computationally efficient,the flamelet model has obtained increasing attention and becomes popular in numerical simulations of supersonic combustion.However,the flamelet model was firstly built for simulations of the low-speed flows.Therefore it is still unclear whether the assumption of the flamelet model is reasonable in supersonic combustion.This paper tries to identify the existence of the flamelet mode in supersonic combustion.Firstly,the interaction of the turbulent fluctuation and the flame is discussed,based on which the combustion regime is distinguished.Then the charac-teristic length scale of the turbulent flows and the combustion inside the scramjet combustor are calculated and compared,which are used to identify whether the assumption of the flamelet model is reasonable in supersonic flows.The results show that for premixed combustion,due to the low fluctuation velocity in the recirculation zone and the shear layer,the assumption of the flamelet model is established for all the flight Mach numbers,while for non-premixed combustion the assumption is also established for most of the flight Mach numbers except for very high Mach number under which the slow reaction mode dominates the combustion.In order to quantitatively examine the combustion mode,numerical calculations are performed to simulate the strut-injection supersonic combustion which has been experimentally investigated in German Aerospace Center.The results show that the supersonic combustion occurs in the fully-developed turbulent regions and the assumption of the flamelet model is established in the whole flow field.FAN ZhouQin LIU WeuDong SUN MingBo WANG ZhenGuo ZHUANG FengChen LUO WenLei 2012Science China(Technological Sciences)2012,55,1:7
5Accuracy of triage strategies for human papillomavirus DNA-positive women in low-resource settings:A cross-sectional study in China显示文摘Objective: Care HPV is a human papillomavirus(HPV) DNA test for low-resource settings(LRS).This study assesses optimum triage strategies for care HPV-positive women in LRS.Methods: A total of 2,530 Chinese women were concurrently screened for cervical cancer with visual inspection with acetic acid(VIA),liquid-based cytology and HPV testing by physician-and self-collected care HPV,and physician-collected Hybrid Capture 2(HC2).Screen-positive women were referred to colposcopy with biopsy and endocervical curettage as necessary.HPV-positivity was defined as ≥1.0 relative light units/cutoff(RLU/CO) for both care HPV and HC2.Primary physician-HC2,physician-care HPV and self-care HPV and in sequential screening with cytology,VIA,or increased HPV test-positivity performance,stratified by age,were assessed for cervical intraepithelial neoplasia(CIN) grade 2/3 or worse(CIN2/3+) detection.Results: The sensitivities and specificities of primary HPV testing for CIN2+ were: 83.8%,88.1% for physiciancare HPV; 72.1%,88.2% for self-care HPV; and 97.1%,86.0% for HC2.Physician-care HPV test-positive women with VIA triage had a sensitivity of 30.9% for CIN2+ versus 80.9% with cytology triage.Self-care HPV testpositive women with VIA triage was 26.5% versus 66.2% with cytology triage.The sensitivity of HC2 test-positive women with VIA triage was 38.2% versus 92.6% with cytology triage.The sensitivity of physician-care HPV testing for CIN2+ decreased from 83.8% at ≥1.0 RLU/CO to 72.1% at ≥10.00 RLU/CO,while the sensitivity of selfcare HPV testing decreased from 72.1% at ≥1.0 RLU/CO to 32.4% at ≥10.00 RLU/CO; similar trends were seen with age-stratification.Conclusions: VIA and cytology triage improved specificity for CIN2/3 than no triage.Sensitivity with VIA triage was unsuitable for a mass-screening program.VIA provider training might improve this strategy.Cytology triage could be feasible where a high-quality cytology program exists.Triage of HPV test-positive women by increased test positivity cutoff adds another LRS triage option.Margaret Wang Shangying Hu Shuang Zha o Wenhua Zhang Qinjing Pan Xun Zhang FengChen Jinxiu Han Junfei Ma Jennifer S.Smith Youlin Qiao Caihong Zhou Fanghui Zhao 2017Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2017,29,6:6
6Experimental study on the performance of a rotational supercavitating evaporator for desalination显示文摘Efforts have been made on experimental research of a supercavitation device for desalination,which is named rotational supercavitating evaporator(RSCE).The RSCE is characterised by the simple construction and responsive capacity control,and only requires rough filtration of the source water for scaling-and fouling-free operations.The present study has been conducted for the water flow at temperature of around 22–30°C and atmospheric pressure as the first step for investigation of the performance characteristics of RSCE.The multiply factor extremal experiments conducted with the Box-Wilson’s method have revealed the salinity of the condensate,the temperature of steam inside the supercavity,and dependence of the shape of supercavity on the rate of steam extraction and rotation speed of impeller.The shape of impeller and the expected supercavitating effects it generates have been confirmed by experimental results at the rotation speed of 5430 rpm(round per minute).The design of the steam extraction openings has been approved during the evacuation of steam.The experimental dependencies have been obtained in form of statistically valid regression equations,which can be used for engineering design of RSCE.LIKHACHEV Dmitriy S LI FengChen KULAGIN Vladimir A 2014Science China(Technological Sciences)2014,57,11:6
7Analysis of coherent structures in drag-reducing polymer solution flow based on proper orthogonal decomposition显示文摘Direct numerical simulation(DNS) of forcing homogeneous isotropic turbulence with polymers was performed.In order to understand the polymers effect on turbulent coherent structures,proper orthogonal decomposition was performed to identify coherent structures based on DNS data,so as to analyze the remarkable difference due to the addition of polymers.The results showed that the numbers for eigenmodes required for capturing coherent structures were 32 and 24 for the Newtonian fluid and polymer solution flows,respectively,which means the decrease of the complexity in polymer solution flow.Through the POD energy spectrum,it was found that the turbulent kinetic energy is distributed onto a large number of eigenmodes whether in the Newtonian fluid flow or polymer solution flow,suggesting that polymer solution flow is still turbulent in one aspect.Besides,the POD eigenmodes were investigated,which found that the small-scale structures are inhibited in polymer solution flow.CAI WeiHua LI FengChen ZHANG HongNa WANG Yue WANG Lu 2012Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2012,55,5:5
8Investigation on reversible pump turbine flow structures and associated pressure field characteristics under different guide vane openings显示文摘The use of reversible pump turbines(RPT) within pumped storage power plants goes with prolonged periods of off-design operating conditions, which leads to the onset of operating mode-dependent instabilities. In order to decrease the gravity of RPT flow instabilities and associated damages or even completely eliminate them, a deep understanding of its onset and development mechanism is needed. In line with this, the present study seeks to numerically investigate the onset and development mechanism of RPT unsteady flow structures as well as the evolutional characteristics of associated pressure pulsations throughout the RPT complete flow passage, under off-design conditions for three GVOs namely 17, 21, and 25 mm. The study results showed that low torque operating conditions and associated vaneless space back flow structures were the trigger of flow unsteadiness onset within the RPT vaneless space, the instabilities which grew to cause the S-shape characteristics appearance. Moreover, the runner flow unsteadiness was found to decrease with the GVO increase. 10Numerical study on the characteristics of natural supercavitation by planar symmetric wedge-shaped cavitators for rotational supercavitating evaporator显示文摘With the application of supercavitation effect, a novel device named rotational supercavitating evaporator(RSCE) was recently designed for desalination. In order to improve the blade shape of rotational cavitator in RSCE for performance optimization and then design three-dimensional blades, numerical simulations are conducted on the supercavitating flows(with cavitation number ranging from 0.055 to 0.315) around two-dimensional planar symmetric wedge-shaped cavitators with different wedge angles varied from 10 to 180 degrees. Proper numerical method for simulating supercavitating flows around planar symmetric cavitator is established, and assessment of k-ε-v2 -f turbulence model in simulating cavitating flows is conducted. It shows that the size of computational domain would affect the simulation result. Empirical formulae for supercavity dimensions about cavitation number at different wedge angles are obtained, which are of significant importance in the subsequent design of three-dimensional blade. 12Experimental Study on the Ride Comfort of a Crawler Power Chassis Scale Model Based on the Similitude Theory显示文摘The ride comfort experimental assessment of crawler off-road vehicle is relatively overlooked, and is expensive and difficult to execute with higher and higher ride comfort performance requirements. To trade off between precise and cost, an experimental method based on the similitude theory is proposed. Under the guidance of the similitude theory, a 1:5 crawler power chassis scale model equipped with a kind of variable stiffness suspension system is used. The power spectrum density(PSD), the root mean square(RMS) of weighed acceleration, peak factor, average absorbed power(AAP) and vibration dose value(VDV) are selected as ride comfort evaluation indexes, and tests results are transformed via similarity indexes to predict the performance of full-scale power chassis. PSD shows that the low-order natural frequency of the vertical natural frequency(z axis) is 1.1 Hz, and the RMS, AAP and VDV values indicate the ride comfort performance of this kind of power chassis is between the 'A little uncomfortable' and 'Rather uncomfortable'. From the results, low-order vertical natural frequency, obtained by PSD, validates that the similarity relationship between two models is satisfied, and 1:5 scale model used in experiment meets the similarity relationship with the full-scale model; consequently, the ride comfort prophase evaluation with the 1:5 scale model is feasible. 13Experimental study on the characteristics of ventilated cavitation around an underwater navigating body influenced by turbulent drag-reducing additives显示文摘In this study, a new control strategy for turbulent drag reduction involving ventilated cavitation is proposed. The configurational and hydrodynamic characteristics of ventilated cavities influenced by turbulent drag-reducing additives were experimentally studied in water tunnel. The test model was fixed in the water tunnel by a strut in the aft-part. Aqueous solutions of CTAC/Na Sal(cetyltrimethyl ammonium chloride/sodium salicylate) with weight concentrations of 100, 200, 400 and 600 ppm(part per million), respectively, were injected into the ventilated air cavity from the edge of the cavitator with accurate control by an injection pump. The cavity configurations were recorded by a high-speed CCD camera. The hydrodynamic characteristics of the test model were measured by a six-component balance. Experimental results show that, within the presently tested cases, the lengths of cavity influenced by drag-reducing solution are smaller than normal condition(ventilated cavity) in water, but the asymmetry of the cavity is improved. The drag resisted by the test model is reduced dramatically(the maximum drag reduction can reach to 80%) and the re-entrant jet is more complex after the CTAC solution is injected into the cavity. 14Analysis of heat transfer performance for turbulent viscoelastic fluid-based nanofluid using field synergy principle显示文摘In this paper,the field synergy principle is firstly performed on the viscoelastic fluid-based nanofluid and other relevant fluid in channel at turbulent flow state to scrutinize their heat transfer performance based on our direct numerical simulation database.The cosine values of intersection angle between velocity vector and temperature gradient vector are calculated for different simulated cases with varying nanoparticle volume fraction,nanoparticle diameter,Reynolds number and Weissenberg number.It is found that the filed synergy effect is enhanced when the nanoparticle volume fraction is increased,nanoparticle diameter is decreased and Weissenberg number is decreased,i.e.the heat transfer is also enhanced.However,the filed synergy effect is weakened with the increase of Reynolds number which may be the possible reason for the power function relationship in empirical correlation of heat transfer between heat transfer performance and Reynolds number with the constant power exponent lower than 1.Finally,it is also observed that the field synergy principle can be used to analyze the heat transfer process of viscoelastic fluid-based nanofluid at the turbulent flow state even if some negative cosine values of intersection angle exist in the flow field.YANG JuanCheng LI FengChen NI MingJiu YU Bo 2015Science China(Technological Sciences)2015,58,7:2
