| 1 | Modeling of rotational supercavitating evaporator and the geometrical characteristics of supercavity within显示文摘In this paper,a rotational supercavitating evaporator(RSCE)was at first modeled by means of theoretical analysis approach.The geometrical characteristics of supercavity in the modeled RSCE were then studied through numerical simulations.The current research objectives consist in determination of shape of the supercavitator(which in the plane of rotation generates supercavity occupying the most volume between blades),and location of the area suitable for steam extraction by revealing the inner structure of supercavity.Analytical analysis was performed by solving empirical equations for the shape of RSCE,through which an evaluation of two-dimensional relative position of supercavity trailing edge for different shapes of the supercavitator has been realized.Numerical simulation was then carried out,by numerically solving the unsteady Navier-Stokes equations in their conservation form coupled with the Rayleigh-Plesset cavitation and Shear-Stress Transport turbulence models,for verification of the results obtained from empirical equations.Despite unreliable assumption of applicability of empirical equations we have confirmed similarity of the supercavity shapes obtained by both methods for the same RSCE.Therefore,the shape of supercavitator calculated by using empirical equations is acceptable,which provides a simple but reliable approach for design of RSCE.The inner structure of supercavity obtained by numerical simulation has indicated position and parameters for steam extraction openings for further numerical and experimental studies on the performance of RSCE.Practical application of steam or gas extraction is suggested for solving of some problems associated with cavitating pumping of cryogenic liquid. | LIKHACHEV Dmitriy S. | 2 | Experimental study on the performance of a rotational supercavitating evaporator for desalination显示文摘Efforts have been made on experimental research of a supercavitation device for desalination,which is named rotational supercavitating evaporator(RSCE).The RSCE is characterised by the simple construction and responsive capacity control,and only requires rough filtration of the source water for scaling-and fouling-free operations.The present study has been conducted for the water flow at temperature of around 22–30°C and atmospheric pressure as the first step for investigation of the performance characteristics of RSCE.The multiply factor extremal experiments conducted with the Box-Wilson’s method have revealed the salinity of the condensate,the temperature of steam inside the supercavity,and dependence of the shape of supercavity on the rate of steam extraction and rotation speed of impeller.The shape of impeller and the expected supercavitating effects it generates have been confirmed by experimental results at the rotation speed of 5430 rpm(round per minute).The design of the steam extraction openings has been approved during the evacuation of steam.The experimental dependencies have been obtained in form of statistically valid regression equations,which can be used for engineering design of RSCE. | LIKHACHEV Dmitriy S LI FengChen KULAGIN Vladimir A | 2014 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2014,57,11: | 6 |

| 4 | Investigation on reversible pump turbine flow structures and associated pressure field characteristics under different guide vane openings显示文摘The use of reversible pump turbines(RPT) within pumped storage power plants goes with prolonged periods of off-design operating conditions, which leads to the onset of operating mode-dependent instabilities. In order to decrease the gravity of RPT flow instabilities and associated damages or even completely eliminate them, a deep understanding of its onset and development mechanism is needed. In line with this, the present study seeks to numerically investigate the onset and development mechanism of RPT unsteady flow structures as well as the evolutional characteristics of associated pressure pulsations throughout the RPT complete flow passage, under off-design conditions for three GVOs namely 17, 21, and 25 mm. The study results showed that low torque operating conditions and associated vaneless space back flow structures were the trigger of flow unsteadiness onset within the RPT vaneless space, the instabilities which grew to cause the S-shape characteristics appearance. Moreover, the runner flow unsteadiness was found to decrease with the GVO increase. | 6 | Numerical study on the characteristics of natural supercavitation by planar symmetric wedge-shaped cavitators for rotational supercavitating evaporator显示文摘With the application of supercavitation effect, a novel device named rotational supercavitating evaporator(RSCE) was recently designed for desalination. In order to improve the blade shape of rotational cavitator in RSCE for performance optimization and then design three-dimensional blades, numerical simulations are conducted on the supercavitating flows(with cavitation number ranging from 0.055 to 0.315) around two-dimensional planar symmetric wedge-shaped cavitators with different wedge angles varied from 10 to 180 degrees. Proper numerical method for simulating supercavitating flows around planar symmetric cavitator is established, and assessment of k-ε-v2 -f turbulence model in simulating cavitating flows is conducted. It shows that the size of computational domain would affect the simulation result. Empirical formulae for supercavity dimensions about cavitation number at different wedge angles are obtained, which are of significant importance in the subsequent design of three-dimensional blade. | 7 | Experimental study on the characteristics of ventilated cavitation around an underwater navigating body influenced by turbulent drag-reducing additives显示文摘In this study, a new control strategy for turbulent drag reduction involving ventilated cavitation is proposed. The configurational and hydrodynamic characteristics of ventilated cavities influenced by turbulent drag-reducing additives were experimentally studied in water tunnel. The test model was fixed in the water tunnel by a strut in the aft-part. Aqueous solutions of CTAC/Na Sal(cetyltrimethyl ammonium chloride/sodium salicylate) with weight concentrations of 100, 200, 400 and 600 ppm(part per million), respectively, were injected into the ventilated air cavity from the edge of the cavitator with accurate control by an injection pump. The cavity configurations were recorded by a high-speed CCD camera. The hydrodynamic characteristics of the test model were measured by a six-component balance. Experimental results show that, within the presently tested cases, the lengths of cavity influenced by drag-reducing solution are smaller than normal condition(ventilated cavity) in water, but the asymmetry of the cavity is improved. The drag resisted by the test model is reduced dramatically(the maximum drag reduction can reach to 80%) and the re-entrant jet is more complex after the CTAC solution is injected into the cavity. | 8 | Analysis of heat transfer performance for turbulent viscoelastic fluid-based nanofluid using field synergy principle显示文摘In this paper,the field synergy principle is firstly performed on the viscoelastic fluid-based nanofluid and other relevant fluid in channel at turbulent flow state to scrutinize their heat transfer performance based on our direct numerical simulation database.The cosine values of intersection angle between velocity vector and temperature gradient vector are calculated for different simulated cases with varying nanoparticle volume fraction,nanoparticle diameter,Reynolds number and Weissenberg number.It is found that the filed synergy effect is enhanced when the nanoparticle volume fraction is increased,nanoparticle diameter is decreased and Weissenberg number is decreased,i.e.the heat transfer is also enhanced.However,the filed synergy effect is weakened with the increase of Reynolds number which may be the possible reason for the power function relationship in empirical correlation of heat transfer between heat transfer performance and Reynolds number with the constant power exponent lower than 1.Finally,it is also observed that the field synergy principle can be used to analyze the heat transfer process of viscoelastic fluid-based nanofluid at the turbulent flow state even if some negative cosine values of intersection angle exist in the flow field. | YANG JuanCheng LI FengChen NI MingJiu YU Bo | 2015 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2015,58,7: | 2 |

| 18 | Effect of topography on the changes of Urumqi Glacier No.1 in the Chinese Tianshan Mountains显示文摘Topography plays an important role in determining the glacier changes.However,topography has often been oversimplified in the studies of the glacier changes.No systematic studies have been conducted to evaluate the relationship between the glacier changes and topographic features.The present study provided a detailed insight into the changes in the two branches(east branch and west branch)of Urumqi Glacier No.1 in the Chinese Tianshan Mountains since 1993 and systematically discussed the effect of topography on the glacier parameters.This study analyzed comprehensive recently observed data(from 1992/1993 to 2018/2019),including mass balance,ice thickness,surface elevation,ice velocity,terminus,and area,and then determined the differences in the changes of the two branches and explored the effect of topography on the glacier changes.We also applied a topographic solar radiation model to analyze the influence of topography on the incoming shortwave radiation(SW_(in))across the entire glacier,focusing on the difference in the SW_(in) between the two branches.The glacier mass balance of the east branch was more negative than that of the west branch from 1992/1993 to 2018/2019,and this was mainly attributed to the lower average altitude of the east branch.Compared with the west branch,the decrease rate of the ice velocity was lower in the east branch owing to its relatively increased slope.The narrow shape of the west branch and its southeast aspect in the earlier period resulted in a larger glacier terminus retreat of the west branch.The spatial variability of the SW_(in) across the glacier surface became much larger as altitude increased.The SW_(in) received by the east branch was slightly larger than that received by the west branch,and the northern aspect could receive more SW_(in),leading to glacier melting.In the future,the difference of the glacier changes between the two branches will continue to exist due to their topographic differences.This work is fundamental to understanding how topographic features affect the glacier changes,and provides information for building different types of relationship between the glacier area and ice volume to promote further studies on the basin-scale glacier classification. | LI Hongliang WANG Puyu LI Zhongqin JIN Shuang XU Chunhai MU Jianxin HE Jie YU Fengchen | 2022 | Journal of Arid Land2022,14,7: | 0 |
| 19 | U-Pb geochronology and geochemical characteristics of Liudaogou granodiorite in Linjiang,Jilin Province显示文摘The Liudaogou area underwent multiple large-scale tectonic movements since Archean. Little studies have been carried out on the age of Mesozoic magmatism and petrogenesis in the area. Zircon U-Pb geochronology and geochemistry of the Liudaogougranodiorite were undertaken in this study to determine the forming-age of the granodiorite and to understand its petrogenesis and tectonic background of diagenesis. Zircon in the rock samples show good idiomorphic and obvious rhythmic growth girdle zone,belonging to typical magmatic zircon.Zircon LA-ICP-MS U-Pb dating results show that the emplacement of rock mass occurred in late Early Cretaceous( 125 ± 1 Ma,MSWD = 0. 53). The geochemical data show that the rock belongs to quasi-aluminous granite of type I which has the properties of high potassium calc-alkaline adakite,with A/CNK ratio of 0. 82--0. 98( < 1. 1). The rock shows obvious enrichment of LILE and LREE but depletion of HFSE,and is characterized by high Sr( 374. 9 × 10^(-6)--777. 6 × 10^(-6)) and low Y( 8. 84 × 10^(-6)--12. 4 × 10^(-6)). The samples are rich in Si,and the K_2 O/Na_2 O ratio( 0. 99--1. 30) is very high,indicating that magma might have originated from melting upper crust. The high content of Mg~#( 49. 68--56. 92) in the samples implies that mantle-derived materials might have involved in magma. It can be concluded that in the process of delamination,the lower crust sank,and was heated by asthenosphere mantle,and partially melted. The primitive magma should be the mixture of the mantle-derived magma and the partially melting lower crust.
