1Effect of Surface Treatment and Metallic Coating on Corrosion Behavior and Biocompatibility of Surgical 316L Stainless Steel Implant显示文摘Surface engineering technology is a suitable method for coatings on the metal surfaces or performing surface modification treatment,which can improve corrosion resistance and biocompatibility of metals.In this research,corrosion behavior of Nb coating on H 2 SO 4 and HNO 3 treated AISI stainless steel 316L (SS) was evaluated.Nb coating was carried out using physical vapor deposition process on the SS.Characterization techniques including scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) technique were used to investigate the microstructure and morphology of the coated and treated SS.Electrochemical potentiodynamic tests were performed in two types of physiological solutions and compared with the pristine SS specimens.Cyclic polarization tests were performed to evaluate resistivity against pitting.Experimental results indicate that Nb coating and surface treatment of the SS had a positive effect on improvement of corrosion behavior.The decrease in corrosion current densities was significant for coated and treated specimens.The corrosion current density was much lower than the values obtained for pristine specimens.Ali Parsapour Saied Nouri Khorasani Mohammad Hossein Fathi 2012Journal of Materials Science & Technology2012,28,2:2
2Royal-jelly-based apitherapy can attenuate damages to male reproductive parameter following nicotine administration显示文摘Background:Nicotine administration can generate severe oxidative stress and lipid peroxidation.Royal jelly,with its antioxidant properties,acts as a scavenger of reactive oxygen species.This study describes the apitherapy effects of royal jelly on testicular damage following nicotine administration.Methods:Forty-eight male BALB/c mice were divided into 8 groups(n=6):saline,3 different doses of royal jelly(100,150,and 200 mg/kg body weight(BW)per day),nicotine(1.5 mg/kg),and 3 different groups of Nic+Roy(1.5 mg/kg of Nic+100,150,and 200 mg/kg BW per day of royal jelly).Nicotine was administrated intraperitoneally,and royal jelly was prescribed orally for 10 consecutive days.Serum levels of hormones(testosterone,luteinizing hormone,and follicle-stimulating hormone),total antioxidant capacity,nitric oxide(NO)status,malondialdehyde levels,sperm DNA fragmentation,sperm parameters,histopathological changes(H&E staining),immunohistochemistry against apoptotic proteins,and gene expression of Bcl-2,p53,Caspase-3,and Nrf2(real-time PCR)were assessed to evaluate the molecular and histological changes.Results:Hormone levels,sperm parameters,and status of antioxidants were decreased significantly(p<.05)following nicotine administration.Moreover,royal jelly treatment normalized hormonal and antioxidant characteristics,decreased apoptotic gene expression,increased Nfr2 gene expression,and restored histopathological alteration to the physiological status significantly(p<.05).Conclusion:Royal jelly upregulates the antioxidant status,inhibits the mitochondrialdependent apoptosis pathway,and increases the rate of proliferation.This therapeutic agent effectively protected the testis against nicotine-associated damages by antioxidant and anti-apoptotic effects.Mahsa Nazar-Zadeh Cyrus Jalili Amene Nikgoftar Fathi Ali Ghanbari Mitra Bakhtiari 2022Animal Models and Experimental Medicine2022,5,2:2

15Analysis of BrainMRI: AI-Assisted Healthcare Framework for the Smart Cities显示文摘The use of intelligent machines to work and react like humans is vital in emerging smart cities.Computer-aided analysis of complex and huge MRI(Mag-netic Resonance Imaging)scans is very important in healthcare applications.Among AI(Artificial Intelligence)driven healthcare applications,tumor detection is one of the contemporary researchfields that have become attractive to research-ers.There are several modalities of imaging performed on the brain for the pur-pose of tumor detection.This paper offers a deep learning approach for detecting brain tumors from MR(Magnetic Resonance)images based on changes in the division of the training and testing data and the structure of the CNN(Convolu-tional Neural Network)layers.The proposed approach is carried out on a brain tumor dataset from the National Centre of Image-Guided Therapy,including about 4700 MRI images of ten brain tumor cases with both normal and abnormal states.The dataset is divided into test,and train subsets with a ratio of the training set to the validation set of 70:30.The main contribution of this paper is introdu-cing an optimum deep learning structure of CNN layers.The simulation results are obtained for 50 epochs in the training phase.The simulation results reveal that the optimum CNN architecture consists of four layers.Walid El-Shafai Randa Ali Ahmed Sedik Taha El-Sayed Taha Mohammed Abd-Elnaby Fathi E.Abd El-Samie 2023Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing2023,,2:0

18Corrosion Behavior and Biocompatibility of Hydroxyapatite Coating on H_2SO_4 Passivated 316L SS for Human Body Implant显示文摘The aim of this studies at simultaneous improvement of the corrosion behavior and biocompatibility of metallic implant and bone Osseointegration simultaneously.Stainless steel 316L(SS) was used as metallic substrate and after surface treatment with 15 vol.% sulfuric acid,it was coated with hydroxyapatite coating employing plasma-spraying process.Structure characterization techniques including XRD,SEM and EDX were also utilized to investigate the microstructure,morphology,and crystallinity of the coating.Electrochemical potentiodynamic tests were performed in two types of physiological solutions in order to determine and compare the corrosion resistance behavior of the coated and uncoated specimens as an indication of biocompatibility.The results indicate that the surface treatment and hydroxyapatite coating improve the corrosion resistance behavior of SS.The corrosion current density of the surface treated and the hydroxyapatite coated SS also decrease.These also show that surface treated and hydroxyapatite coated SS can be used as human body implants with the goals of corrosion resistance improvement(biocompatibility) and bone osseointegration.Ali Parsapour Saied Nouri Khorasani Mohammad Hossein Fathi 2013Acta Metallurgica Sinica(English Letters)2013,26,4:0
