4Numerical investigation of particle separation in Y-shaped bifurcating microchannels显示文摘In this study the Zweifach-Fung effect is investigated in a Y-shaped bifurcation when the clearance between the rigid spherical particle and the walls is small compared to both channel’s and particle’s radii.Single-and two-particle systems are studied using resolved computational fluid dynamics coupled to discrete element method to obtain a two-dimensional map of the initially positioned particles that would enter each child branch.In all cases,the path selection of the sphere depends on its two-dimensional positioning far from the bifurcation region in the parent channel.Increasing the flow rate ratio or decreasing the Reynolds number intensifies the Zweifach-Fung bifurcation effect in a single-particle system.Similarly,in two-particle systems where non-contact particle-particle interaction is present,decreasing the particle-to-particle distance reduces the bifurcation effect,while changing the Reynolds number has the same influence as in the single-particle systems.The results provide insight for optimizing the flow characteristics in bifurcating microchannels to separate the suspended particles.Mahya Meyari Zeinab Salehi Reza Zarghami Mahdi Saeedipour 2021Particuology2021,19,3:0

7Two-dimensional Parameter Relationships for W UMa-type Systems Revisited显示文摘Reviewing the empirical and theoretical parameter relationships between various parameters is a good way to understand more about contact binary systems.In this investigation,two-dimensional(2D)relationships for P–MV(system),P–L1,2,M1,2–L1,2,and q–Lratiowere revisited.The sample used is related to 118 contact binary systems with an orbital period shorter than 0.6 days whose absolute parameters were estimated based on the Gaia Data Release 3 parallax.We reviewed previous studies on 2D relationships and updated six parameter relationships.Therefore,Markov chain Monte Carlo and Machine Learning methods were used,and the outcomes were compared.We selected 22 contact binary systems from eight previous studies for comparison,which had light curve solutions using spectroscopic data.The results show that the systems are in good agreement with the results of this study.Atila Poro Ehsan Paki Ailar Alizadehsabegh Mehdi Khodadadilori Selda Ranjbar Salehian Mahya Hedayatjoo Fatemeh Hashemi Yasaman Dashti Fatemeh Mohammadizadeh 2024Research in Astronomy and Astrophysics2024,24,1:0

9The effect of qibla direction on the hierarchy of movement in mosque:A case study of mosques in Yazd,Iran显示文摘In the architecture of Iranian-lslamic mosques,besides the geographic directions affecting the climate,the direction of qibla also affects their architecture.In the present study,based on the descriptive-analytical method and using the material flow pattern and the activity relationship chart,the pattern of the path of human movement from the entrance to the altar,as well as the degree of proximity of each space relative to other spaces in this movement path were investigated.After describing and analyzing the qibla axis through the structural study on 12 samples of the traditional mosques of Yazd owing to the attention given by the people of this region to religious discussion and their efforts to focus on the axis qibla direction-the hierarchy of human movement was investigated with reference to the mosque being placed in the axis of the qibla direction considering the geometry,arrangement of forms,and interior functions.Studies in this area indicate that the architects and builders of mosques have considered the preservation of the divine orientation or the qibla,the path of human movement from his early arrival to his placement in the direction of the qibla axis,and the preservation of geometry as the valuable principles.Mahya Ghouchani Mohammad Taji Fatemeh Kordafshari 2019Frontiers of Architectural Research2019,8,3:0
