Sustainable land-use patterns for arid lands: A case study in the northern slope areas of the Tianshan Mountains显示文摘Sustainable land use patterns are ecological and economic prerequisites of regional sustainable development. This is especially true for arid lands, where the environment is wholly fragile thanks to extremely limited precipitation, and where human activities have greatly transformed natural desert system by clearing natural vegetation, expanding oases and even building dams on inland rivers. However, the current studies on land use patterns are still characterized by field investigations and case studies, with almost no solid scientific basis. This paper holds that land types and their combination patterns are the principal basis for designing sustainable land use patterns, and that GIS and RS-based large-scale land type mapping and the study of their spatial combination structures should be coordinated with the demand of social development. The existing environmental problems induced by irrational land use mostly result from their deviation from the natural properties of land types. Taking the northern slope of the Tianshan Mountains (NSTM) as an example and considering land type patterns as the basis of land use patterns, this paper improves the vertical oasis-and-mid-mountain two-belts development model and the sustainable mountain land use model for arid lands put forward in recent years; and in terms of oases patterns, it outlines oasis development models, including intensive land use pattern in alluvial-diluvial fans, moderate agricultural development pattern in alluvial plains, and ecological land use pattern in river-end oases. | LUO Geping FENG Yixing ZHANG Baiping CHENG Weiming | 2010 | Journal of Geographical Sciences2010,20,4: | 6
Preparation of nitrogen and sulfur co-doped ultrathin graphitic carbon via annealing bagasse lignin as potential electrocatalyst towards oxygen reduction reaction in alkaline and acid media显示文摘Renewable lignin used for synthesizing materials has been proven to be highly potential in specific electrochemistry. Here,we report a simple method to synthesize nitrogen and sulfur co-doped carbon nanosheets by using bagasse lignin, denoted as lignin-derived carbon(LC).By adjusting the ratio of nitrogen source and annealing temperature,we obtained the ultrathin graphitic lignin carbon(LC-4-1000)with abundant wrinkles with high surface area of 1208 m2g_1 and large pore volume of 1.40 cm3g_1.In alkaline medium,LC-4-1000 has more positive half-wave potential and nearly current density compared to commercial Pt/C for oxygen reduction reaction(ORR).More importantly,LC-4-1000 also exhibits comparable activity and superior stability for ORR in acid medium due to its high graphitic N ratio and a direct four electron pathway for ORR.This study develops a cost-effective and highly efficient method to prepare biocarbon catalyst for ORR in fuel cells. | Yixing Shen Feng Peng Yonghai Cao Jianliang Zuo Hongjuan Wang Hao Yu | 2019 | Journal of Energy Chemistry2019,28,7: | 5
Lignin derived multi-doped(N, S, Cl) carbon materials as excellent electrocatalyst for oxygen reduction reaction in proton exchange membrane fuel cells显示文摘Nowadays, hierarchically macro-/meso-/microporous 3D carbon materials have been paid more attention due to their imaginative application potential in specific electrochemistry. Here,we report a dualtemplate strategy using eutectic NaCl/ZnCl2 melt as airtight and swelling agent to obtain 3D mesoporous skeleton structured carbon from renewable lignin. The prepared lignin-derived biocarbon material(LN-3-1)has a high specific surface area(1289 m^2 g^-1),a large pore volume(2.80 cm^3 g^-1),and a well-connected and stable structure.LN-3-1 exhibits extremely high activity and stability in acidic medium for oxygen reduction reaction(ORR),superior to Pt/C catalyst and most non noble-metal catalysts reported in recent literatures. The prepared carbon material was used as a cathode catalyst to assemble a H2-O2 single fuel cell, and its excellent catalytic performance has been confirmed with the maximum power density of 779 mW cm^-2,which is one of the highest power densities among non-metallic catalysts so far.Density functional theory(DFT)calculations indicate that the synergy of chlorine and nitrogen reconciles the intermediate adsorption energies, leading to an appropriate theoretical ORR onset potential. We develop a cost-effective and highly efficient method to prepare biocarbon catalyst for ORR in proton-exchange membrane fuel cells. | Yixing Shen Yuhang Li Guangxing Yang Qiao Zhang Hong Liang Feng Peng | 2020 | Journal of Energy Chemistry2020,29,5: | 5
The relationship between soil, climate and forest development in the mid-mountain zone of the Sangong River watershed in the northern Tianshan Mountains,China显示文摘The mountainous forests in arid regions, being sensitive to climate change, are one of the key research topics related to the mechanism of interaction between climate and the terrestrial ecosystem. In this study, the spatial distribution of a mid-mountain forest and its environmental factors were investigated by using a combination of remote sensing technology, field survey, climate indices and soil nutrient analysis in the Sangong River watershed of the northern Tianshan Mountains. The forest(Picea schrenkiana) was distributed between 1,510 and 2,720 m asl. Tree height and diameter at breast height(DBH) exhibited a bi-modal pattern with increasing elevation, and rested at 2,450 and 2,250 m asl, respectively. The two maxima of DBH appeared at 2,000 and 2,550 m asl, and the taller trees were observed at 2,100 and 2,600 m asl. For the annual mean temperature, the difference was approximately 5.8°C between the lowest and the highest limits of the forest, and the average decreasing rates per hundred meters were 0.49°C and 0.55°C with increasing altitude between 1,500 and 2,000 m asl and above 2,000 m asl, respectively. The annual precipitation in the forest zone first increased and then decreased with the increase of altitude, and the maximum value was at 2,000 m asl. For per hundred meters, the annual precipitation increased with the rate of 31 mm between 1,500 and 2,000 m asl and decreased by 7.8 mm above 2,000 m asl. The SOM, TN and TP were high between 2,000 and 2,700 m asl and low at the lower and upper forest limits. The minimum Ca CO3 concentration, p H value and EC coincided with the maximum precipitation belt at 2,000 m asl. The SOM, TN and TP were high in the topsoil(0–10 cm) and differed significantly from the values observed in the deep soil layers(>10 cm). The soil nutrients exhibited spatial heterogeneity and higher aggregation in the topsoil. In conclusion, soil and climate are closely related to each other, working synergistically to determine the development and spatial distribution of the mid-mountain forest in the study area. The order of the importance of environmental factors to forest development in this study is as follows: soil nutrients>precipitation>elevation>temperature. | Li DAI YiXing FENG GePing LUO YanZhong LI WenQiang XU | 2015 | Journal of Arid Land2015,7,1: | 2
An analysis of oasis stability in arid areas:a case study in the northern slope areas of the Tianshan Mountains显示文摘This paper discusses oasis stability at regional scale with a case study in the northern slope areas of the Tianshan Mountains (NSTM). The results showed certain significant aspects. (1) As long as water resources in the oasis keep stable and their utilization efficiency can be maintained or gradually increased, the primary productivity could be continuously increased and the natural primary productivity keeped relatively stable. In this case, it is considered that the oasis is stable and its sustainable development can be achieved at regional scale. (2) Considering the availability of water resources in the oases, the oases on the alluvial-diluvial fans are highly stable. In the alluvial plain downstream of the groundwater overflowing zones the oases are moderately stable and in the lacustrine deltas or dry lacustrine deltas the oases are lowly stable. (3) Enlargement of oases and the increase of water resources and vegetation coverage in the oasis will certainly enhance the 'cold-island effect' of the oasis and increase the stability of oases. | Luo, GePing Lu, Lei Yin, ChangYing Feng, YiXing | 2009 | Journal of Arid Land2009,1,1: | 2
ROS is essential for initiation of energy deprivation-induced autophagy显示文摘Autophagy is a highly conserved degradation process in which intracellular components are engulfed into a double membrane structure, known as the autophagosomes, and then delivered to lysosomes/vacuoles for degradation(Ohsumi,2014).Recently,autophagy has been found to be responsible for maintaining glucose homeostasis in adult animals(Karsli-Uzunbas et al.,2014).However,the molecular mechanism underlying energy deprivation-induced autophagy remains relatively unclear. | Choufei Wu Yixing Li Shu Zhong Yingcong Chen Yu Xie Yuyao Feng Weijing Yao Suping Fu Yanlan Zhu Liefeng Wang Yuting Chen Liqin Zhang Jingjing Tong Cong Yi | 2021 | Journal of Genetics and Genomics2021,48,6: | 1

Inverse uncertainty characteristics of pollution source identification for river chemical spill incidents by stochastic analysis显示文摘Identifying source information after river chemical spill occurrences is critical for emergency responses. However, the inverse uncertainty characteristics of this kind of pollution source inversion problem have not yet been clearly elucidated. To fill this gap, stochastic analysis approaches, including a regional sensitivity analysis method, identifiability plot and perturbation methods, were employed to conduct an empirical investigation on generic inverse uncertainty characteristics under a well-accepted uncertainty analysis framework.Case studies based on field tracer experiments and synthetic numerical tracer experiments revealed several new rules. For example, the release load can be most easily inverted, and the source location is responsible for the largest uncertainty among the source parameters. The diffusion and convection processes are more sensitive than the dilution and pollutant attenuation processes to the optimization of objective functions in terms of structural uncertainty. The differences among the different objective functions are smaller for instantaneous release than for continuous release cases.Small monitoring errors affect the inversion results only slightly, which can be ignored in practice.Interestingly, the estimated values of the release location and time negatively deviate from the real values, and the extent is positively correlated with the relative size of the mixing zone to the objective river reach. These new findings improve decision making in emergency responses to sudden water pollution and guide the monitoring network design. | Jiping Jiang Feng Han Yi Zheng Nannan Wang Yixing Yuan | 2018 | Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering2018,12,5: | 1

Bioinformatics analysis of SARS-CoV-2 infectionassociated immune injury and therapeutic prediction for COVID-19显示文摘Background:Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 is a highly contagious viral infection, without any available targeted therapies. The high mortality rate of COVID-19 is speculated to be related to immune damage. Methods:In this study, clinical bioinformatics analysis was conducted on transcriptome data of coronavirus infection. Results:Bioinformatics analysis revealed that the complex immune injury induced by coronavirus infection provoked dysfunction of numerous immune-related molecules and signaling pathways, including immune cells and toll-like receptor cascades.Production of numerous cytokines through the Th17 signaling pathway led to elevation in plasma levels of cytokines(including IL6,NF-kB,and TNF-a)followed by concurrent inflammatory storm, which mediates the autoimmune response.Several novel medications seemed to display therapeutic effects on immune damage associated with coronavirus infection. Conclusions:This study provided insights for further large-scale studies on the target therapy on reconciliation of immunological damage associated with COVID-19. | Haomin Zhang Haoran Chen Jundong Zhang Ximeng Chen Bin Guo Peng Zhi Zhuoyang Li Geliang Liu Bo Yang Xiaohua Chi Yixing Wang Feng Cao Jun Ren Xuechun Lu | 2021 | Emergency and Critical Care Medicine2021,1,1: | 0
Improved diagnosis of thyroid cancer aided with deep learning applied to sonographic text reports:a retrospective,multi-cohort,diagnostic study显示文摘Objective:Large volume radiological text data have been accumulated since the incorporation of electronic health record(EHR)systems in clinical practice. We aimed to determine whether deep natural language processing algorithms could aid radiologists in improving thyroid cancer diagnosis. Methods:Sonographic EHR data were obtained from the EHR database.Pathological reports were used as the gold standard for diagnosing thyroid cancer. We developed thyroid cancer diagnosis based on natural language processing(THCaDxNLP)to interpret unstructured sonographic text reports for thyroid cancer diagnosis. We used the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve(AUROC)as the primary metric to measure the performance of the THCaDxNLP.We compared the performance of thyroid ultrasound radiologists aided with THCaDxNLP vs.those without THCaDxNLP using 5 independent test sets. Results:We obtained a total number of 788,129 sonographic radiological reports. The number of thyroid sonographic data points was 132,277,18,400 of which were thyroid cancer patients.Among the 5 test sets, the numbers of patients per set were 439,186,82,343,and 171.THCaDxNLP achieved high performance in identifying thyroid cancer patients(the AUROC ranged from 0.857–0.932).Thyroid ultrasound radiologists aided with THCaDxNLP achieved significantly higher performances than those without THCaDxNLP in terms of accuracy(93.8%vs.87.2%;one-sided t-test,adjusted P=0.003),precision(92.5%vs.86.0%;P=0.018),and F1 metric(94.2%vs.86.4%;P=0.007).Conclusions:THCaDxNLP achieved a high AUROC for the identification of thyroid cancer, and improved the accuracy, sensitivity, and precision of thyroid ultrasound radiologists. This warrants further investigation of THCaDxNLP in prospective clinical trials. | Qiang Zhang Sheng Zhang Jianxin Li Yi Pan Jing Zhao Yixing Feng Yanhui Zhao Xiaoqing Wang Zhiming Zheng Xiangming Yang Lixia Liu Chunxin Qin Ke Zhao Xiaonan Liu Caixia Li Liuyang Zhang Chunrui Yang Na Zhuo Hong Zhang Jie Liu Jinglei Gao Xiaoling Di Fanbo Meng Wei Ji Meng Yang Xiaojie Xin Xi Wei Rui Jin Lun Zhang Xudong Wang Fengju Song Xiangqian Zheng Ming Gao Kexin Chen Xiangchun Li | 2022 | Cancer Biology & Medicine2022,19,5: | 0
