| 1 | Meso-scale eddy in the South China Sea simulated by an eddy-resolving ocean model显示文摘Mesoscale eddies(MEs) in the South China Sea(SCS) simulated by a quasi-global eddy-resolving ocean general circulation model are evaluated against satellite data during 1993–2007. The modeled ocean data show more activity than shown by the satellite data and reproduces more eddies in the SCS. A total of 345(428) cyclonic eddies(CEs) and 330(371) anti-cyclonic eddies(AEs) generated for satellite(model) data are identified during the study period, showing increase of ~24% and ~12% for the model data, respectively. Compared with eddies in satellite, the simulated eddies tend to have smaller radii, larger amplitudes, a slightly longer lifetime, faster movement and rotation speed, a slightly larger nonlinear properties(U/c) in the model. However, the spatial distribution of generated eddies appears to be inhomogeneous, with more CEs in the northern part of SCS and fewer AEs in the southern part. This is attributed to the exaggerated Kuroshio intrusion in the model because the small islands in the Luzon Strait are still not well resolved although the horizontal resolution reaches(1/10)°. | 2 | Heavy oil component characterization with multi-dimensional unilateral NMR显示文摘Heavy oil is a complicated mixture and a potential resource and has attracted much attention since the end of last century. It is important to characterize the composition of heavy oil to enhance its recovery efficiency. A designed unilateral Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) sensor with a Larmor frequency of 20 MHz and a well-defined constant gradient of 23.25 T/m was employed to acquire three-dimensional (3D) data for three heavy oil samples. The highly-constant gradient is advantageous for diffusion coefficient measurement of heavy oil. A fast data-implementation procedure including specially designed 3D pulse sequence and Inversion Laplace Transform (ILT) algorithm was adopted to process the data and extract 3D T1-D-T2 probability function. It indicates that NMR relaxometry and diffusometry are useful to characterize the components of heavy oil samples. | 3 | Effects of Kuroshio intrusion optimization on the simulation of mesoscale eddies in the northern South China Sea显示文摘The impacts of Kuroshio intrusion(KI) optimization on the simulation of meso-scale eddies(MEs) in the northern South China Sea(SCS) were investigated based on an eddy-resolving ocean general circulation model by comparing two numerical experiments with differences in their form and intensity of KI due to the optimizing topography at Luzon Strait(LS). We found that a reduced KI reduces ME activities in the northern SCS, which is similar to the observations. In this case, the biases of the model related to simulating the eddy kinetic energy(EKE) west of the LS and along the northern slope are remarkably attenuated. The reduced EKE modeling bias is associated with both the reduced number of anti-cyclonic eddies(AEs) and the reduced amplitude of cyclonic eddies(CEs). The EKE budget analysis further suggests that the optimization of the KI will change the EKE by changing the horizontal velocity shear and the slope of the thermocline, which are related to barotropic and baroclinic instabilities, respectively. The former plays the key role in regulating the EKE in the northern SCS due to the changing of the KI. | 7 | Overexpression of LVRN impedes the invasion of trophoblasts by inhibiting epithelial–mesenchymal transition显示文摘Laeverin(LVRN)was first detected on the outer layer of the chorion laeve and migrating extravillous trophoblasts(EVTs).It is an enzyme that plays an important role in the placentation and pathophysiology of preeclampsia(PE).Previous studies have indicated that LVRN may be required for the invasion of human trophoblast cells.Paradoxically,LVRN was found to be highly expressed in the trophoblasts of PE patients with impaired invasive capacities.In this study,we detected the expression of LVRN in the placentas of PE patients(n=5)and normal term pregnancy women(n=5)as a control group by immunohistochemistry.LVRN was elevated in decidua(P=0.0083)and villi(P=0.0079)of PE patients.Next,LVRN was overexpressed via adeno-associated virus-mediated gene transfer in trophoblastic cell lines HTR8,Swan71,and JAR.Matrigel transwell assay and wound healing assay showed that overexpression of LVRN impeded the invasion of these three cell lines.Western blot analysis showed that LVRN overexpression caused downregulation of N-cadherin and vimentin and upregulation of E-cadherin,suggesting the inhibitory role of LVRN in epithelial–mesenchymal transition(EMT).Moreover,our data indicated that long noncoding RNA NONSTAT103348(lnc10-7)was elevated in PE patients.Silencing lnc10-7 led to decreased LVRN expression.Taken together,although the basal level of LVRN may be crucial for cell invasion,overexpression of LVRN may abrogate the cell invasiveness,suggesting a multifaceted role of LVRN in the pathogenesis of PE. | Xuan Feng Zhi Wei Sai Zhang Jiayi Zhou Jing Wu Baoxin Luan Yan Du Hongbo Zhao | 2021 | Acta Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica2021,53,2: | 0 |
