| 1 | Calcium-sensing receptor in colorectal inflammation and cancer:Current insights and future perspectives显示文摘The extracellular calcium-sensing receptor(CaSR) is best known for its action in the parathyroid gland and kidneys where it controls body calcium homeostasis. However, the CaSR has different roles in the gastrointestinal tract, where it is ubiquitously expressed. In the colon, the CaSR is involved in controlling multiple mechanisms, including fluid transport, inflammation, cell proliferation and differentiation. Although the expression pattern and functions of the CaSR in the colonic microenvironment are far from being completely understood, evidence has been accumulating that the Ca SR might play a protective role against both colonic inflammation and colorectal cancer. For example, CaSR agonists such as dipeptides have been suggested to reduce colonic inflammation, while dietary calcium was shown to reduce the risk of colorectal cancer. CaSR expression is lost in colonic malignancies, indicating that the CaSR is a biomarker for colonic cancer progression. This dual anti-inflammatory and anti-tumourigenic role of the CaSR makes it especially interesting in colitisassociated colorectal cancer. | 4 | Combining extractive heterogeneous-azeotropic distillation and hydrophilic pervaporation for enhanced separation of non-ideal ternary mixtures显示文摘The separation of non-ideal mixtures using distillation can be an extremely complex process and there continues to be a need to further improve these techniques.A new method which combines extractive heterogeneous-azeotropic distillation(EHAD)and hydrophilic pervapora-tion(HPV)for the separation of non-ideal termary mixtures is demonstrated.This improved distillation method combines the benefits of heterogeneous-azeotropic and extractive distillations in one column but no added materials are needed as is usually the case with pervaporation.The separation of water-methanol-ethyl acetate and water-methanol-isopropyl acetate mixtures were investigated to demonstrate the accuracy of the combined EHAD/HPV technique.There is not currently an established treatment strategy for the separation of the second mixtures in the literature.These separation processes were rigorously modelled and optimized using a professional flowsheet.The objective functions were total cost and energy consumption and heat integration was also investigated.The verification of the process modelling was carried out using laboratory-scale measurements.Extractive heterogeneous-distillation combined with methanol dehydration was found to be more efficient than conventional distillation for the separation of these highly non-ideal mixtures. | Eniko Haaz Botond Szilagyi Daniel Fozer Andras Jozsef Toth | 2020 | Frontiers of Chemical Science and Engineering2020,14,5: | 2 |
| 5 | Chronological age when health care transition skills are mastered in adolescents/young adults with inflammatory bowel disease显示文摘AIM To describe the longitudinal course of acquisition of healthcare transition skills among adolescents and young adults with inflammatory bowel diseases.METHODS We recruited adolescents and young adults(AYA) with inflammatory bowel diseases(IBD), from the pediatric IBD clinic at the University of North Carolina. Participants completed the TRx ANSITION Scale? at least once during the study period(2006-2015). We used the electronic medical record to extract participants' clinical and demographic data. We used ordinary least square regressions with robust standard error clustered at patient level to explore the variations in the levels and growths of healthcare transition readiness.RESULTS Our sample(n = 144) ranged in age from 14-22 years. Age was significantly and positively associated with both the level and growth of TRx ANSITION Scale? scores(P < 0.01).
