2The First Photometric and Spectroscopic Study of Contact Binary V2840 Cygni显示文摘The first photometric,spectroscopic and period variation studies of neglected short-period eclipsing binary V2840Cygni are presented.High mass ratio contact binaries(HMRCBs),especially those in the weak-contact configuration,are vital when probing the evolutionary models of contact binaries(CBs) using stellar parameters.The photometric solutions reveal the weak-contact nature of V2840 Cygni with a high mass ratio(~1.36),motivating us to investigate the nature of such binaries.The period variation study of V2840 Cygni spanning 15 yr shows a secular period decrease at a rate of ~5.5 × 10^(-7) day yr^(-1),indicating mass transfer between the components.The superimposed cyclic variation provides a basic understanding of the possible third body(P_(3)- 8 yr,m_(3)- 0.51 M_(⊙)).Following the derived parameters,the evolution of the system is discussed based on the thermal relaxation oscillation(TRO) model.It is found that V2840 Cygni falls in a special category of HMRCBs,which validates TRO.To characterize the nature of HMRCBs,a catalog of 59 CBs with high mass ratios has been compiled along with their derived parameters from the literature.For all the HMRCBs in the study,a possible correlation between their contact configuration and observed period variations for relative log J_(rel) is discussed.The spectroscopic study of V2840 Cygni provides evidence of the presence of magnetic activity in the system and the existence of ongoing mass transfer which is additionally deduced from the period variation study.The LAMOST spectra of 17 HMRCBs are collected to interpret the stellar magnetic activity in such systems.Ravi Raja Pothuneni Shanti Priya Devarapalli Rukmini Jagirdar 2023Research in Astronomy and Astrophysics2023,23,2:1

10Photometric study of an eclipsing binary in Praesepe显示文摘We present CCD photometric observations of an eclipsing binary in the direction of the open cluster Praesepe using the 2 m telescope at IUCAA Girawali Observatory, India. Though the system was classified as an eclipsing binary by Pepper et al., detailed investigations have been lacking. 15Gut and liver involvement in pediatric hematolymphoid malignancies显示文摘Hematolymphoid malignancies are common neoplasms in childhood.The involvement of the gastrointestinal(GI)tract,liver,biliary system,pancreas,and peritoneum are closely interlinked and commonly encountered.In leukemias,lymphomas,and Langerhans cell histiocytosis(LCH),the manifestations result from infiltration,compression,overwhelmed immune system,and chemotherapyinduced drug toxicities.In acute leukemias,major manifestations are infiltrative hepatitis,drug induced gastritis,neutropenic typhlitis and chemotherapy related pancreatitis.Chronic leukemias are rare.Additional presentation in lymphomas is cholestasis due to infiltration or biliary obstruction by lymph nodal masses.Presence of ascites needs a thorough workup for the underlying pathophysiology that may modify the therapy and affect the outcome.Uncommon hematolymphoid malignancies are primary hepatic,hepatosplenic,and GI lymphomas which have strict definitions.In advanced diseases with extensive spread,it may be impossible to distinguish these diseases from the primary site of origin.LCH produces biliary strictures that mimic as sclerosing cholangitis.Liver infiltration is associated with poor liver recovery even after chemotherapy.The heterogeneity of gut and liver manifestations in hematolymphoid malignancies has a clinical impact on their management.Though chemotherapy is the mainstay of therapy in all hematolymphoid malignancies,debulking surgery and radiotherapy have an adjuvant role in specific clinical scenarios.Rare situations presenting as liver failure or end-stage liver disease require liver transplantation.At their initial presentation to a primary care physician,given the ambiguity in clinical manifestations and the prognostic difference with time-bound management,it is vital to recognize them early for optimal outcomes.Pooled data from robust registries across the world is required for better understanding of these complications.Umeshreddy V Devarapalli Moinak S Sarma Gopinathan Mathiyazhagan 2022World Journal of Gastrointestinal Oncology2022,14,3:0
16Photometric study of an eclipsing binary in the field of M37显示文摘CCD photometric observations with B and V passbands were performed on the contact binary V3 in the field of open cluster M37. The solutions were obtained for data from both B and V passbands along with R passband given by Hartman et al.using the Wilson-Devinney code. The positive O'Connell effect was observed in all the three passbands and its associated cool spot parameters were derived. The results indicate that the spot parameters have not shown any significant variability during the last four years. The spot radius was found to be 40and located close to the equator of the secondary component.
