1Copper Adsorption on Olivine显示文摘Copper adsorption on olivine supplied by the A/S Olivine Production Plant at Aheim in western Norway was studied. The factors were evaluated which affect the uptake of copper. It is shown that the equilibrium pH of aqueous solution has the greatest influence on copper adsorption thanks to the competitive adsorption between proton and copper ions, and the adsorption of copper to olivine increases rapidly with pH increasing from 4 to 6. Moreover, initial copper concentration and olivine dose possess significant effect on copper adsorption, for the adsorption rate of copper increases with olivine dose increasing or initial copper concentration decreasing at the same pH. In addition, the ionic strength effect on the adsorption was also investigated, but it owns little effect on the adsorption process of copper due to the formation of inner sphere adsorption of copper on olivine. 3Modulation of evening complex activity enables north-to-south adaptation of soybean显示文摘Soybean,a typical short-day crop,is sensitive to photoperiod,which is a major limiting factor defining its north-to-south cultivation range.The long-juvenile(LJ)trait is controlled primarily by the J locus which has been used for decades by soybean breeders to delay flowering and improve grain yield in tropical regions.The J gene encodes an ortholog of the Arabidopsis Evening Complex(EC)component EARLY FLOWERING 3(ELF3).To identify modifiers of J,we conducted a forward genetic screen and isolated a mutant(eoj57)that in combination with j has longer flowering delay compared with j single mutant plants.Map-based cloning and genome re-sequencing identified eoj57(designated as GmLUX2)as an ortholog of the Arabidopsis EC component LUX ARRHYTHMO(LUX).To validate that GmLUX2 is a modifier of J,we used trans-complementation and identified a natural variant allele with a similar phenotype.We also show that GmLUX2 physically interacts with GmELF3a/b and binds DNA,whereas the mutant and natural variant are attenuated in both activities.Transcriptome analysis shows that the GmLUX2-GmELF3a complex co-regulates the expression of several circadian clock-associated genes and directly represses E1 expression.These results provide mechanistic insight into how GmLUX2-GmELF3 controls flowering time via synergistic regulation of gene expression.These novel insights expand our understanding of the regulation of the EC complex,and facilitate the development of soybean varieties adapted for growth at lower latitudes.Xiaolong Fang Yapeng Han Mengshi Liu Jiacan Jiang Xiang Li Qichao Lian Xianrong Xie Yian Huang Qibin Ma Hai Nian Ji Qi Cunyi Yang Yingxiang Wang 2021Science China(Life Sciences)2021,64,2:3
4Synthesis of Zeolites by Alkaline Activation of Fly Ash显示文摘In terms of mineral transformation, and chemical composition of acid-soluble component as a function of reaction time, the effect of alkaline solution on zeolite-like fly ash was studied by employing fly ash and NaOH solution as starting materials. When fly ash and 1-10mol/L NaOH solution were processed at 100 ℃ for 24h with 1:10 W/S ratio in a relatively closed system, powder XRD patterns of resulting products indicated the formation of various zeolites. Zeolite P crystallized early at low alkaline concentration, which was replaced then by zeolites X and A. At high concentration, hydroxy sodalite was the only new phase. Quartz, in fly ash and NaOH solution system, gradually dissolved, and mullite, however, remained stable. 6In vitro antibacterial and osteogenic properties of plasma sprayed silver-containing hydroxyapatite coating显示文摘The objective of the present investigation was to characterize the antibacterial and osteogenic properties of plasma sprayed silver-containing hydroxyapatite (HA/Ag) coating in vitro. HA/Ag coating was deposited via vacuum plasma spraying. The concentration of silver ions released from HA/Ag coating, the efficacy of the HA/Ag coating against bacterial biofilm development, the effect of the HA/Ag coating on early adhesion and ossification of osteoblast cells in vitro was measured. The silver ion concentration released from the HA/Ag coating was between the minimum inhibitory concentration to bacteria and the cytotoxic concentration. Bacterial biofilm inhibition studies indicated an antibacterial activity on the HA/Ag coating surface when compared with hydroxyapatite (HA) coating alone. Moreover, it was demonstrated that osteoblast cell adhesion and mineralization occurred on the HA/Ag coating surface during the testing period. 13The influence of reduced graphene oxide on stem cells:a perspective in peripheral nerve regeneration显示文摘Graphene and its derivatives are fascinating materials for their extraordinary electrochemical and mechanical properties.In recent decades,many researchers explored their applications in tissue engineering and regenerative medicine.Reduced graphene oxide(rGO)possesses remarkable structural and functional resemblance to graphene,although some residual oxygen-containing groups and defects exist in the structure.Such structure holds great potential since the remnantoxygenated groups can further be functionalized or modified.Moreover,oxygen-containing groups can improve the dispersion of rGO in organic or aqueous media.Therefore,it is preferable to utilize rGO in the production of composite materials.The rGO composite scaffolds provide favorable extracellular microenvironment and affect the cellular behavior of cultured cells in the peripheral nerve regeneration.On the one hand,rGO impacts on Schwann cells and neurons which are major components of peripheral nerves.On the other hand,rGO-incorporated composite scaffolds promote the neurogenic differentiation of several stem cells,including embryonic stem cells,mesenchymal stem cells,adipose-derived stem cells and neural stem cells.This review will briefly introduce the production and major properties of rGO,and its potential in modulating the cellular behaviors of specific stem cells.Finally,we present its emerging roles in the production of composite scaffolds for nerve tissue engineering.Xiangyun Yao Zhiwen Yan Xu Wang Huiquan Jiang Yun Qian Cunyi Fan 2021Regenerative Biomaterials2021,8,4:1

The adsorption efficieny of copper increases with the increase of olivine dose or the decrease of initial copper concentration at the same pH. The ionic strength effect on the adsorption has also been investigated, but it owns little effect on the adsorption process of copper due to the formation of inner sphere surface complexation of copper on olivine.
