| 3 | High-contrast,fast chemical imaging by coherent Raman scattering using a self-synchronized two-colour fibre laser显示文摘Coherent Raman scattering(CRS)microscopy is widely recognized as a powerful tool for tackling biomedical problems based on its chemically specific label-free contrast,high spatial and spectral resolution,and high sensitivity.However,the clinical translation of CRS imaging technologies has long been hindered by traditional solid-state lasers with environmentally sensitive operations and large footprints.Ultrafast fibre lasers can potentially overcome these shortcomings but have not yet been fully exploited for CRS imaging,as previous implementations have suffered from high intensity noise,a narrow tuning range and low power,resulting in low image qualities and slow imaging speeds.Here,we present a novel high-power self-synchronized two-colour pulsed fibre laser that achieves excellent performance in terms of intensity stability(improved by 50 dB),timing jitter(24.3 fs),average power fluctuation(<0.5%),modulation depth(>20 dB)and pulse width variation(<1.8%)over an extended wavenumber range(2700-3550 cm^(−1)).The versatility of the laser source enables,for the first time,high-contrast,fast CRS imaging without complicated noise reduction via balanced detection schemes.These capabilities are demonstrated in this work by imaging a wide range of species such as living human cells and mouse arterial tissues and performing multimodal nonlinear imaging of mouse tail,kidney and brain tissue sections by utilizing second-harmonic generation and twophoton excited fluorescence,which provides multiple optical contrast mechanisms simultaneously and maximizes the gathered information content for biological visualization and medical diagnosis.This work also establishes a general scenario for remodelling existing lasers into synchronized two-colour lasers and thus promotes a wider popularization and application of CRS imaging technologies. | Cihang Kong Christian Pilger Henning Hachmeister Xiaoming Wei Tom H.Cheung Cora S.W.Lai Nikki P.Lee Kevin K.Tsia Kenneth K.Y.Wong Thomas Huser | 2020 | Light(Science & Applications)2020，9，1： | 5 |

| 19 | Invasive European frogbit(Hydrocharis morsus-ranae L.)in North America:an updated review 2003-16显示文摘Aims European frogbit(Hydrocharis morsus-ranae L.)is an aquatic plant originating from Europe that has emerged as an invasive species,spreading in the USA and Canada since it was first brought to North America in 1932.It can now be found in many water bodies,from small ponds and long rivers to large lakes such as Lake Ontario and Lake Erie.The continuous spread of this spe-cies indicates its success as an invasive species despite legisla-tive attempts to limit its distribution.Catling et al.(Catling PM,Miltrow G,Haber E,et al.(2003)The biology of Canadian weeds.124.Hydrocharis morsus-ranae L.Can J Plant Sci 83:1001-16)wrote a thorough review about this invasive species in North America.Our review aims for a compilation of the most recent available data and recent studies on H.morsus-ranae L.and focuses primarily on its environmental uses,ecological impacts and management.The purpose of this review is to offer an organ-ized and updated report on European frogbit that can be used towards future studies with the goal of eradicating this invasive species and providing insights on management of other invasive plants.Important Findings Our findings reveal that European forgbit’s ecological effects on other species and the invaded environment were shown to be less harmful than previously feared.European frogbit had negative impacts on native plants and reduced dissolved oxygen concentration.However,water chemistry,phytoplankton and zooplankton communities were actually not affected by European frogbit.For fungi,bacteria and macroinvertebrates,studies have showed complex and sometimes conflicting results.We also specifically discussed the new method to control this species using shading and the more recent studies on biological control.Shading with a shade cloth has been shown to effectively remove European frogbit and had minor environmental effects.However,using biological control to combat the spread of the invasive frogbit seems not as successful as we wished. | Bin Zhu Cora C.Ottaviani Rahmat Naddafi Zhicong Dai Daolin Du | 2018 | Journal of Plant Ecology2018，11，1： | 1 |
