1Posterior lingual lidocaine: A novel method to improve tolerance in upper gastrointestinal endoscopy显示文摘AIM: To evaluate the effect of posterior lingual lidocaine swab on patient tolerance to esophagogastro-duodenoscopy, the ease of performance of the procedure, and to determine if such use will reduce the need for intravenous sedation. METHODS: Eighty patients undergoing diagnostic esophagogastroduodenoscopy in a tertiary care medical center were randomized to either lidocaine swab or spray. Intravenous meperidine and midazolam were given as needed during the procedure. RESULTS: Patients in the lidocaine swab group (SWG) tolerated the procedure better than those in the spray group (SPG) with a median tolerability score of 2 (1, 4) compared to 4 (2, 5) (P < 0.01). The endoscopists encountered less diffi culty performing the proceduresin the SWG with lower median difficulty scores of 1 (1, 5) compared to 4 (1, 5) in the SPG (P < 0.01). In addition, the need for intravenous sedation was also lower in the SWG compared to the SPG with fewer patients requiring intravenous sedation (13/40 patients vs 38/40 patients, respectively, P < 0.01). The patients in the SWG were more satisfi ed with the mode of local anesthesia they received as compared to the SPG. In addition, the endoscopists were happier with the use of lidocaine swab. 2New Biobased Polyurethane Materials from Modified Vegetable Oil显示文摘Bio-based polyurethanes(PUs)have been occurred a large attention nowadays.It was found to be an alternative to the petrochemical based materials to the fact of their weak environmental influence,availability,good price and biodegradability.In addition,the nature shows several bio-derived compounds as raw materials for the synthesis of polyols,including the vegetable oils,polyphenol,terpene,and other bio-renewable sources.With the aim to develop a new family of biobased polyurethanes(PUs)via vegetable oils,the elaboration of new Jojoba-based PUs was performed by catalyst-free polycondensation reaction of a synthesized Jojoba diol with various diisocyanates such us toluene diisocyanate(TDI)and isophorone diisocyanate(IPDI).All the compounds were characterized by FTIR and NMR spectroscopies,and their properties were determined by gel permeation chromatography,differential scanning calorimetry and thermogravimetric analysis.The obtained results show renewable vegetable oils-based PUs materials can be preparing using a new environmentally ways and giving various good properties performances.Chakib Mokhtari Fouad Malek Sami Halila Mohamed Naceur Belgacem Ramzi Khiari 2021Journal of Renewable Materials2021,9,7:2

8Anti-inflammatory, anticoagulant and antioxidant effects of aqueous extracts from Moroccan thyme varieties显示文摘Objective: To evaluate the anti-inflammatory, anticoagulant and antioxidant effects of aqueous extracts of thyme varieties from Moroccan.Methods: The aqueous extracts of tree medicinal plants [Thymus atlanticus(T. atlanticus), Thymus satureioides and Thymus zygis(T. zygis)] were screened for their antioxidant activity using 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl radical-scavenging, ferric reducing antioxidant power assay, radical scavenging activity method, the inhibition of 2,2'-azobis(2-amidinopropane) dihydrochloride that induces oxidative erythrocyte hemolysis and thiobarbituric acid reactive substances assay. The anti-inflammatory activity of aqueous extracts was evaluated in vivo using croton oil-induced ear edema and carrageenan-induced paw edema in mice and rats, respectively. This extracts were evaluated in vitro for their anticoagulant activity at the different concentrations by partial thromboplastin time and prothrombin time activated. Results: All thyme varieties were found to possess considerable antioxidant activity and potent anti-inflammatory activity in the croton oil-induced edema. Administration of aqueous extracts of two varieties(50 mg/kg)(T. zygis and T. atlanticus) reduced significantly the carrageenaninduced paw edema similar to non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug(indomethacin, 10 mg/kg). In partial thromboplastin time and prothrombin time tests, T. atlanticus and T. zygis extracts showed the strongest anticoagulant activity. In contrast, Thymus satureioides did not show the anticoagulant activity in these tests. Conclusions: All aqueous extracts possess considerable antioxidant activity and are rich in total polyphenol and flavonoid but they act differently in the process of inflammatory and coagulation studied. 20Performance assessment of a power-to-gas process based on reversible solid oxide cell显示文摘Due to the foreseen growth of sustainable energy utilization in the upcoming years,storage of the excess production is becoming a rather serious matter.In this work,a promising solution to this issue is investigated using one of the most emerging technologies of electricity conversion:reversible solid oxide cells (RSOC).A detailed model was created so as to study the RSOC performance before implementing it in the global co-electrolysis Aspen PlusTM model.The model was compared to experimental results and showed good agreement with the available data under steady state conditions.The system was then scaled up to a 10MW co-electrolysis unit operating at 1073K and 3bar.The produced syngas is subsequently directed to a methanation unit to produce a synthetic natural gas (SNG) with an equivalent chemical power of 8.3MWth. Additionally,as a result of a heat integration analysis,the methanation process provides steam and electricity to operate the rest of the units in the process.A final CO2 capture step is added to ensure the required specifications of the produced SNG for gas network injection.Lastly,the overall performance of the power-to-gas process was evaluated taking into account the energy consumption of each unit.Hanaa Er-rbib Nouaamane Kezibri Chakib Bouallou 2018Frontiers of Chemical Science and Engineering2018,12,4:1
