| 1 | Heavy metal distribution of natural and reclaimed tidal riparian wetlands in south estuary, China显示文摘We evaluated the distribution and accumulation of Cd, Cr, Cu, Ni, Pb and Zn in two plant species (Scirpus tripueter Linn. and Cyperus malaccensis Lam.), in water and soils sampled from the reclaimed tidal riparian wetlands (RTRWs) and the natural riparian wetlands (NRWs) in the Pearl River Estuary (PRE). The results showed that the concentrations of studied heavy metals in soils exceeded theeco-toxic threshold recommended by US EPA. The concentrations of Cd, Cr and Zn in plants may lead to toxic effects. The heavy metalconcentrations were high in water and low in soils of RTRWs compared with that in the NRWs. The accumulation of heavy metalsin the roots of plants was higher in NRWs than those in RTRWs while the opposite result was found for heavy metal accumulation inshoots. Based on the bioaccumulation and translocation factors, the plants in NRWs had a higher capacity to accumulate heavy metalswhile higher abilities to transport heavy metals from roots to shoots were observed in RTRWs. | 2 | Estimation of Ecological Water Requirements Based on Habitat Response to Water Level in Huanghe River Delta,China显示文摘In recent years,wetland ecological water requirements (EWRs) have been estimated by using hydrological and functional approaches,but those approaches have not yet been integrated for a whole ecosystem.This paper presents a new method for calculating wetland EWRs,which is based on the response of habitats to water level,and determines water level threshold through the functional integrity of habitats.Results show that in the Huanghe (Yellow) River Delta water levels between 5.0 m and 5.5 m are required to maintain the functional integrity of the wetland at a value higher than 0.7.One of the dominant plants in the delta,Phragmites australis,tolerates water level fluctuation of about ± 0.25 m without the change in wetland functional integrity.The minimum,optimum and maximum EWRs for the Huanghe River Delta are 9.42×106 m3,15.56×106 m3 and 24.12×106 m3 with water levels of 5.0 m,5.2 m and 5.5 m,corresponding to functional integrity indices of 0.70,0.84 and 0.72,respectively.A wetland restoration program has been performed,which aims to meet these EWRs in attempt to recover from losses of up to 98% in the delta's former wetland area. | CUI Baoshan HUA Yanyan WANG Chongfang LIAO Xiaolin TAN Xuejie TAO Wendong | 2010 | Chinese Geographical Science2010,20,4: | 7 |

| 5 | Study on the spectral response of Brassica Campestris L. leaf to the copper pollution显示文摘Brassica Campestis L. was cultivated in the soil at the laboratory. The red edge,the visual spectrum and the near-infrared spectrum of Brassica Campestis L. leaf were used to explore the spectral response of Brassica Campestis L. leaf to the copper stress. As the Cu content in the soil gets increased,the copper level in Brassica Campestris L. leaf would be increased,and the chlorophyll level in Brassica Campestris L. leaf would be decreased. As a result,the visual spectral reflectance (A1) of Brassica Campestris L. leaf is increased,and the blue-shift (moving towards the shorter waveband) degree (S) of the red edge (the ascending region of the re-flectivity at 680―740 nm) gets increased. However,the near-infrared spectral re-flectance (A2) decreases. | 6 | Macrophage membrane-coated nanocarriers Co-Modified by RVG29 and TPP improve brain neuronal mitochondria-targeting and therapeutic efficacy in Alzheimer's disease mice显示文摘Neuronal mitochondrial dysfunction caused by excessive reactive oxygen species(ROS)is an early event of sporadic Alzheimer's disease(AD),and considered to be a key pathologic factor in the progression of AD.The targeted delivery of the antioxidants to mitochondria of injured neurons in brain is a promising therapeutic strategy for AD.A safe and effective drug delivery system(DDS)which is able to cross the blood-brain barrier(BBB)and target neuronal mitochondria is necessary.Recently,bioactive materials-based DDS has been widely investigated for the treatment of AD.Herein,we developed macrophage(MA)membrane-coated solid lipid nanoparticles(SLNs)by attaching rabies virus glycoprotein(RVG29)and triphenylphosphine cation(TPP)molecules to the surface of MA membrane(RVG/TPP-MASLNs)for functional antioxidant delivery to neuronal mitochondria.According to the results,MA membranes camouflaged the SLNs from being eliminated by RESrich organs by inheriting the immunological characteristics of macrophages.The unique properties of the DDS after decoration with RVG29 on the surface was demonstrated by the ability to cross the BBB and the selective targeting to neurons.After entering the neurons in CNS,TPP further lead the DDS to mitochondria driven by electric charge.The Genistein(GS)-encapsulated DDS(RVG/TPP-MASLNs-GS)exhibited the most favorable effects on reliveing AD symptoms in vitro and in vivo by the synergies gained from the combination of MA membranes,RVG29 and TPP.These results demonstrated a promising therapeutic candidate for delaying the progression of AD via neuronal mitochondria-targeted delivery by the designed biomimetic nanosystems. | Yang Han Chunhong Gao Hao Wang Jiejie Sun Meng Liang Ye Feng Qianqian Liu Shiyao Fu Lin Cui Chunsheng Gao Yi Li Yang Yang Baoshan Sun | 2021 | Bioactive Materials2021,6,2: | 4 |

| 10 | Ecological Offsetting in China's Coastal Wetlands: Existing Challenges and Strategies for Future Improvement显示文摘Land-use changes in coastal wetlands have led to a worldwide degradation of marine coastal ecosystems and a loss of the ecological services they provide. Ecological offsetting is a popular strategy and an effective mitigation measure for ecosystems that have been degraded, damaged, or destroyed and is critical for habitats where natural recovery is hindered. However, the current understanding of the theory and practice of ecological offsetting for coastal wetlands is extremely limited in many developing countries. We conducted a review of ecological offsetting for coastal wetlands projects and studies in China in 1979–2017 to explore the application and limitations of ecological offsetting theory. It was found that China's coastal ecological offsetting regime has recently entered a rapidly developing stage, with an increasing number of different types of offsetting projects conducted, but theoretical research lags behind practical applications. Considerable governmental, social, technological and ethical challenges remain to resolve. Coastal ecological offsetting schemes have been inconsistent in meeting conservation objectives or preventing net losses because of the challenges of ensuring they are fully consistent in practice(mainly in-kind offsets) and theory(mainly out-of-kind offsets). Ecological offsetting projects were primarily implemented by government, developers, and non-profit organizations. The available funding of coastal ecological offsetting projects is insufficient, which makes ecological offsetting a risky operation. | 14 | Spatial Distribution and Environmental Determinants of Denitrification Enzyme Activity in Reed-Dominated Raised Fields显示文摘Denitrification is an important process of nitrogen removal in lake ecosystems.However,the importance of denitrification across the entire soil-depth gradients including subsurface layers remains poorly understood.This study aims to determine the spatial pattern of soil denitrification enzyme activity(DEA) and its environmental determinants across the entire soil depth gradients in the raised fields in Baiyang Lake,North China.In two different zones of the raised fields(i.e.,water boundary vs.main body of the raised fields),the soil samples from 1.0 m to 1.1 m depth were collected,and the DEA and following environmental determinants were quantified:soil moisture,p H,total nitrogen(TN),ammonia nitrogen(NH4+-N),nitrate nitrogen(NO3–-N),total organic carbon(TOC),and rhizome biomass of Phragmites australis.The results showed that the soil DEA and environmental factors had a striking zonal distribution across the entire soil depth gradients.The soil DEA reached two peak values in the upper and middle soil layers,indicating that denitrification are important in both topsoil and subsurface of the raised fields.The correlation analysis showed that the DEA is negatively correlated with the soil depth(p < 0.05).However,this phenomenon did not occur in the distance to the water edge,except in the upper layers(from 0.2 m to 0.7 m) of the boundary zone of the raised fields.In the main body of the raised fields,the DEA level remained high;however,it showed no significant relationship with the distance to the water edge.The linear regression analysis showed significant positive correlation of the DEA with the soil TN,NO3–-N,NH4+-N,and TOC;whereas it showed negative correlation with soil p H.No significant correlations with soil moisture and temperature were observed.A positive correlation was also found between the DEA and rhizome biomass of P.australis. | LAN Yan CUI Baoshan HAN Zhen LI Xia LI Fengju ZHANG Yongtao | 2015 | Chinese Geographical Science2015,25,4: | 2 |
| 15 | Impacts of Coastal Reclamation on Natural Wetlands in Large River Deltas in China显示文摘Little information is available on the impacts of coastal reclamation on wetland loss in large-river deltas at a regional scale.Using remote sensing data of coastal wetland and reclamation in four deltas in China from 1978 to 2014, we tracked their continuous area changes in four periods: 1978–1990, 1990–2000, 2000–2008, and 2008–2014. The areal relation between wetland loss and reclamation was quantified and used to identify coastal reclamation mode intensity coupled with another three indicators: reclamation rate,accretion rate and land-use intensity of coastal reclamation. The results showed that coastal reclamation driven by economic development reduced, or even reverse the original growth of delta which was determined by the offset between wetland acceleration rate and wetland loss rate. Generally, the area of reclamation showed a positive linear correlation with the area of wetland loss.
