| 1 | Lipidomics in non-alcoholic fatty liver disease显示文摘Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD),the most common chronic liver disorder in Western countries,comprises steatosis to nonalcoholic steatohepatitis(NASH),with the latter having the potential to progress to cirrhosis.The transition from isolated steatosis to NASH is still poorly understood,but lipidomics approach revealed that the hepatic lipidome is extensively altered in the setting of steatosis and steatohepatitis and these alterations correlate with disease progression.Recent data suggest that both quantity and quality of the accumulated lipids are involved in pathogenesis of NAFLD.Changes in glycerophospholipid,sphingolipid,and fatty acid composition have been described in both liver biopsies and plasma of patients with NAFLD,implicating that specific lipid species are involved in oxidative stress,inflammation,and cell death.In this article,we summarize the findings of main human lipidomics studies in NAFLD and delineate the currently available information on the pathogenetic role of each lipid class in lipotoxicity and disease progression. | Sofia Kartsoli Christina E Kostara Vasilis Tsimihodimos Eleni T Bairaktari Dimitrios K Christodoulou | 2020 | World Journal of Hepatology2020，12，8： | 5 |
| 2 | Integrating insulin-like growth factor 1 and sex hormones into neuroprotection:Implications for diabetes显示文摘Brain integrity and cognitive aptitude are often impaired in patients with diabetes mellitus, presumably a result of the metabolic complications inherent to the disease. However, an increasing body of evidence has demonstrated the central role of insulin-like growth factor 1(IGF1) and its relation to sex hormones in many neuroprotective processes. Both male and female patients with diabetes display abnormal IGF1 and sexhormone levels but the comparison of these fluctuations is seldom a topic of interest. It is interesting to note that both IGF1 and sex hormones have the ability to regulate phosphoinositide 3-kinase-Akt and mitogen-activated protein kinases-extracellular signal-related kinasesignaling cascades in animal and cell culture models of neuroprotection. Additionally, there is considerable evidence demonstrating the neuroprotective coupling of IGF1 and estrogen. Androgens have also been implicated in many neuroprotective processes that operate on similar signaling cascades as the estrogen-IGF1 relation. Yet, androgens have not been directly linked to the brain IGF1 system and neuroprotection. Despite the sex-specific variations in brain integrity and hormone levels observed in diabetic patients, the IGF1-sex hormone relation in neuroprotection has yet to be fully substantiated in experimental models of diabetes. Taken together, there is a clear need for the comprehensive analysis of sex differences on brain integrity of diabetic patients and the relationship between IGF1 and sex hormones that may influence brain-health outcomes. As such, this review will briefly outline the basic relation of diabetes and IGF1 and its role in neuroprotection. We will also consider the findings on sex hormones and diabetes as a basis for separately analyzing males and females to identify possible hormone-induced brain abnormalities. Finally, we will introduce the neuroprotective interplay of IGF1 and estrogen and how androgen-derived neuroprotection operates through similar signaling cascades. | 4 | Twenty-five years of research on the effects of exercise training in breast cancer survivors:A systematic review of the literature显示文摘AIM:To investigate the role of exercise training the past 25 years on major physiological-psychological outcomes studied thus far in this patient population.METHODS:Pub Med, Medline Plus, the Cochrane Library, Web of Science, SportD iscus, Embase, Scorpus, and Google Scholar were searched from September to November 2013 to identify exercise training studies that used objective measurements of fitness and/or patient reported outcomes assessed pre and post-exercise training with statistical analyses performed in at least one of the following outcome measurements:Cardiorespiratory function, body composition, muscular strength, fatigue, depression, and overall quality of life. Five reviewers independently identified the studies that met the criteria for the review and discrepancies were resolved by consensus among all authors.RESULTS:Fifty-one studies were included in this review with 5 from the period between 1989-1999, 11 from 2000-2006, and 35 from 2007-2013. The evolution of study designs changed from aerobic only exercise training interventions(1989-1999), to a combination of aerobic and resistance training(2000-2006), to studies including an arm of resistance training or examining the effects of resistance training as the main mode of exercise(2007-2013). | 5 | Th1 cytokines promote T-cell binding to antigen-presenting cells via enhanced hyaluronan production and accumulation at the immune synapse显示文摘Hyaluronan(HA)production by dendritic cells(DCs)is known to promote antigen presentation and to augment T-cell activation and proliferation.We hypothesized that pericellular HA can function as intercellular‘glue’directly mediating T cell–DC binding.Using primary human cells,we observed HA-dependent binding between T cells and DCs,which was abrogated upon pre-treatment of the DCs with 4-methylumbelliferone(4-MU),an agent which blocks HA synthesis.Furthermore,T cells regulate HA production by DCs via T cell-derived cytokines in a T helper(Th)subset-specific manner,as demonstrated by the observation that cell-culture supernatants from Th1 but not Th2 clones promote HA production.Similar effects were seen upon the addition of exogenous Th1 cytokines,IL-2,interferon c(IFN-c)and tumor necrosis factor a(TNF-a).The critical factors which determined the extent of DC–T cell binding in this system were the nature of the pre-treatment the DCs received and their capacity to synthesize HA,as T-cell clones which were pre-treated with monensin,added to block cytokine secretion,bound equivalently irrespective of their Th subset.These data support the existence of a feedforward loop wherein T-cell cytokines influence DC production of HA,which in turn affects the extent of DC–T cell binding.We also document the presence of focal deposits of HA at the immune synapse between T-cells and APC and on dendritic processes thought to be important in antigen presentation.These data point to a pivotal role for HA in DC–T cell interactions at the IS. | Paul L Bollyky Stephen P Evanko Rebecca P Wu Susan Potter-Perigo S Alice Long Brian Kinsella Helena Reijonen Kelly Guebtner Brandon Teng Christina K Chan Kathy R Braun John A Gebe Gerald T Nepom Thomas N Wight | 2010 | Cellular & Molecular Immunology2010，7，3： | 3 |

| 10 | Treatment of alopecia totalis/universalis/focalis with vitamin D and analogs:Three case reports and a literature review显示文摘BACKGROUND Alopecia areata(AA)is an inflammatory disease with autoimmune,environmental,and inherited components directed at the hair follicle,either limited to patchy hair loss over the scalp(Focalis,AF),total loss of scalp hair(Totalis,AT),or total loss of both scalp and body hair(Universalis,AU).Despite multiple treatment modalities,no therapy exists.Vitamin D deficiency in patients with AA/AT/AF influences disease severity and duration,inversely correlating with inflammation histologically.CASE SUMMARY Three girls presented with AT(P1),AU(P2),and AF(P3)at the ages of 1,5,and 5 years,respectively.For P1-P2,all available treatments implemented for 2 years had failed.We started an initial 6-mo repletion with oral cholecalciferol 2000/4000 IU/d,with no apparent effect.Then we attempted immunomodulation using oral calcitriol and its analog paricalcitol.On calcitriol,0.5 mcg/d P1 regrew hair within 6 mo.After 4 years,a relapse with loss of eyebrow hair was resolved after doubling the calcitriol dose to 0.5 mcg×2/d;the results have been maintained for 6 years to date.On calcitriol,0.25 mcg×3/d P2 led to the development of asymptomatic hypercalcemia-hypercalciuria,which was immediately resolved by switching to paricalcitol 2 mcg×3/d;mild tolerable hypercalciuria was maintained.Hair regrowth was observed at 6 mo,stabilizing only as fur at 12 mo.AF in P3 was resolved completely within 3 mo on a daily high dose(8000 IU)of cholecalciferol.CONCLUSION Vitamin D may have immunomodulating therapeutic impact on AT/AU/AF,which needs to be explored with further pilot clinical trials. | Dimitrios T Papadimitriou Christina Bothou Eleni Dermitzaki Alexios Alexopoulos George Mastorakos | 2021 | World Journal of Clinical Pediatrics2021，10，6： | 1 |

| 15 | Solar thermotherapy reduces the titer of Candidatus Liberibacter asiaticus and enhances canopy growth by altering gene expression profiles in HLB-affected citrus plants显示文摘Huanglongbing(HLB),a systemic and destructive disease of citrus,is associated with‘Candidatus Liberibacter asiaticus’(Las)in the United States.Our earlier work has shown that Las bacteria were significantly reduced or eliminated when potted HLB-affected citrus were continuously exposed to high temperatures of 40 to 42°C for a minimum of 48 h.To determine the feasibility and effectiveness of solar thermotherapy in the field,portable plastic enclosures were placed over commercial and residential citrus,exposing trees to high temperatures through solarization.Within 3–6 weeks after treatment,most trees responded with vigorous new growth.Las titer in new growth was greatly reduced for 18–36 months after treatment.Unlike with potted trees,exposure to high heat did not eradicate the Las population under field conditions.This may be attributed to reduced temperatures at night in the field compared to continuous high temperature exposure that can be maintained in growth chambers,and the failure to achieve therapeutic temperatures in the root zone.Despite the presence of Las in heat-treated commercial citrus,many trees produced abundant flush and grew vigorously for 2 to 3 years after treatment.Transcriptome analysis comparing healthy trees to HLB-affected citrus both before and after heat treatment demonstrated that post-treatment transcriptional expression patterns more closely resembled the expression patterns of healthy controls for most differentially expressed genes and that genes involved with plant-bacterium interactions are upregulated after heat treatment.Overall,these results indicate that solar thermotherapy can be an effective component of an integrated control strategy for citrus HLB. | Melissa M Doud Yungsheng Wang Michelle T Hoffman Christina L Latza Weiqi Luo Cheryl M Armstrong Tim R Gottwald Liangying Dai Feng Luo Yongping Duan | 2017 | Horticulture Research2017，4，1： | 1 |
