| 1 | Morphological study on colonic pathology in ulcerative colitis treated by moxibustion显示文摘AIM To observe the therapeutic effect ofmoxibustion on ulcerative colitis and itsinfluence on the colonic mucosal morphology.METHODS Forty-six patients with ulcerativecolitis were randomly divided into themoxibustion with herbal medicine underneathgroup and the western medicine group.Thirtypatients were treated with the abovemoxibustion and 16 patients with Salicylayefapyridine(SASP).The colonic mucosa of 13patients in the moxibustion group was observedby colonoscopy before and after the treatment.Mucin was also analyzed by H.E and AB-PASstaining.RESULTS Seventeen patients were clinicallycured,12 were improved and 1 unchanged in themoxibustion group.In the control group,5patients were clinically cured,7 improved and 4unchanged.Thirteen patients with active UCwere taken as the subjects for histopathologicanalysis in this study.The colonic mucosallesions were remarkably improved and thecharacteristic of the mucin also changed.Inmost sections,the chronic inflammation ofmucosa was geatly ameliorated(P<0.01).Theinflammatory cell infiltratation much decreased and neutrophils,disapeared in most sections(P<0.001).The goblet cells significantlyincreased(P<0.001);crypt paracrypt abscessor mucosal ulceration was seen(P<0.001).CONCLUSION The rate of cure of ulcerative colitis by moxibustion with herbal medicine beneath is superior to that by SASP. | 3 | Loss of Wnt5a and Ror2 protein in hepatocellular carcinoma associated with poor prognosis显示文摘AIM:To investigate the expression and clinical significance of Wnt member 5a (Wnt5a) and receptor tyrosine kinase-like orphan receptor 2 (Ror2) in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).METHODS:In HCC tissues obtained from 85 patients,the protein expressions of Wnt5a,Ror2,β-catenin,and Ki-67 via immunohistochemical staining using the Envision Plus System.The antibody binding was visualized with 3,3'-diaminobenzidine tetrahydrochloride (DAB) before brief counterstaining with Mayer's hematoxylin.The degree of immunohistochemical staining was recorded using a semiquantitative and subjective grading system.The mRNA expression of Ror2 was examined by real-time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction,including nineteen of the 85 HCC and three normal liver tissues.The ratios of Ror2 to the housekeeping gene GAPDH represented the normalized relative levels of Ror2 expression.To determine the prognostic factor,the outcome of the 82 patients was determined by reviewing their medical charts.The overall and disease-free survival rates were estimated using the Kaplan-Meier method and compared with the log-rank test.The prognostic analysis was carried out with univariate and multivariate Cox regressions models.RESULTS:Compared to nontumorous (hepatitis or cirrhotic) tissues,Ror2 mRNA expression was clearly decreased in HCC.Ror2 and Wnt5a protein expressions in the majority of HCC patients (63% and 77%,respectively) was significantly less in tumor tissues,as compared to adjacent nontumorous tissues,and this reduction was correlated with increasing serum α-fetoprotein and tumor stage.In 68% (58/85) of the HCC cases,the expression of β-catenin in tumor tissues was either downregulated in the cellular membrane,upregulated in the cytoplasm,or both.Survival analysis indicated that Wnt5a and Ror2 protein expressions could be regarded as independent prognostic factors for HCC;HCC patients with decreased Wnt5a or Ror2 protein expression had a poorer prognosis than those with elevated Wnt5a and Ror2 expression (P=0.016,P=0.007,respectively).CONCLUSION:Wnt5a and Ror2 may serve as tumor suppressor genes in the development of HCC,and may serve as clinicopathologic biomarkers for prognosis in HCC patients. | Ming Geng Yong-Cheng Cao Ying-Jian Chen Hui Jiang Li-Quan Bi Xiao-Hong Liu | 2012 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2012,18,12: | 12 |
| 4 | Clinical characteristics and effectiveness of antiviral agents in hospitalized children with infectious mononucleosis in China:A multicenter retrospective study显示文摘Importance:The clinical characteristics of infectious mononucleosis(IM)in Chinese children have not been evaluated in multicenter studies,and the effectiveness of antiviral treatment are controversial.Objective:To investigate the clinical characteristics of Chinese children with IM and current status of antiviral therapy for affected patients.Methods:Hospitalized patients with IM were enrolled between 2018 and 2020 in five children’s hospitals in China.The clinical characteristics were compared among four age groups:<3 years,3-<6 years,6-<10 years,and≥10 years.The clinical characteristics of IM and effectiveness of antiviral therapy were compared among patients receiving acyclovir(ACV),ganciclovir(GCV),and no antiviral therapy(i.e.,non-antiviral group).Results:In total,499 patients were analyzed;most patients were 3-<6 years of age.The most common symptoms and signs included fever(100%),lymphadenopathy(98.6%),pharyngitis(86.4%),eyelid edema(76.8%),and snoring(72.9%).There were significant differences in rash,hepatomegaly,and liver dysfunction among the four age groups.Patients aged<3 years had a lower incidence of liver dysfunction and a higher incidence of rash.Among the 499 patients,50.1%were treated with GCV,26.3%were treated with ACV,and 23.6%received no antiviral therapy.Compared with the non-antiviral group,patients in the ACV and GCV groups had longer durations of fever(P<0.001).There were no significant differences in the incidences of complications among the three treatment groups.Interpretation:The incidence of IM in Chinese children peaked at 3-<6 years of age.Clinical features of IM varied according to age.Patients receiving antiviral therapy exhibited more serious clinical manifestations than did patients without antiviral therapy.The effectiveness of antiviral therapy for IM requires further analysis. | Huili Hu Huiling Deng Jing Bi Yi Xu Shuangjie Li Yue Xie Xinrong Sun Dongmeng Wang Xufang Li Wenxian Ouyang Bing Hu Yufeng Zhang He Tang Chunxiao Fang Hui Zhang Lingyun Guo Chen Wang Tianyi Wang Fengxia Yang Tao Jiang Zhengde Xie Gang Liu | 2021 | Pediatric Investigation2021,5,3: | 12 |
| 5 | Protective effect and mechanism of stronger neo-minophagen C against fulminant hepatic failure显示文摘AIM: To investigate the protective effect of stronger neo-minophafen C (SNMC) on fulminant hepatic failure (FHF) and its underlying mechanism. METHODS: A mouse model of FHF was established by intraperitoneal injection of galactosamine (D-Gal N) and lipopolysaccharide (LPS). The survival rate, liver function, inflammatory factor and liver pathological change were obtained with and without SNMC treatment. Hepatocyte survival was estimated by observing the stained mitochondria structure with terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase-mediated deoxyuridine triphosphate fluorescence nick end labeling (TUNEL) method and antibodies against cytochrome C (Cyt-C) and caspase-3. RESULTS: The levels of plasma tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α), nitric oxide (NO), ET-1, interleukin-6 (IL-6), and the degree of hepatic tissue injury were decreased in the SNMC-treated groups compared with those in the model group (P < 0.01). However, there were no differences after different dosages administered at different time points. There was a significant difference in survival rates between the SNMC-treated groups and the model group (P < 0.01). The apoptosis index was 32.3% at 6 h after a low dose of SNMC, which was considerably decreased from 32.3% ± 4.7% vs 5% ± 2.83% (P < 0.05) to 5% on d 7. The expression of Cyt-C and caspase-3 decreased with the prolongation of therapeutic time. Typical hepatocyte apoptosis was obviously ameliorated under electron microscope with the prolongation of therapeutic time. CONCLUSION: SNMC can effectively protect liver against FHF induced by LPS/D-Gal N. | 7 | Dynamic monitoring of soil bulk density and infiltration rate during coal mining in sandy land with different vegetation显示文摘To investigate the effects of coal mining on soil physical properties,sandy lands with three major vegetation types(Salix psammophila,Populus simonii,and Artemisia ordosica)were investigated by the ring knife method and double-ring infiltrometer.Specifically,variations in soil bulk density and water infiltration rate and the influences of coal mining and vegetation type on the properties during different subsidence stages were studied at the Shendong Bulianta mine.The results showed that,in the period before mining,soil bulk density occurred in the order A.ordosica>P.simonii>S.psammophila,with a negative correlation between the initial infiltration rate and steady infiltration rate being observed.In the period during mining and 3 months after mining,there were no significant differences in soil bulk density and water infiltration rate among vegetation types.At 1 year after mining,the soil bulk density occurred in the order A.ordosica>S.psammophila>P.simonii,having a negative correlation with the steady infiltration rate.The water infiltration depths of the S.psammophila,P.simonii and A.ordosica were 50,60,and 30 cm,respectively.The infiltration characters were simulated by the Kostiakov equations,and the simulated and experimental results were consistent.Linear regression revealed that vegetation types and soil bulk density had significant effects on soil initial infiltration rate during the four study periods,and the infiltration rate of the period 1 year after mining was mainly influenced by the soil bulk density of the period before mining.The results indicated that vegetation types had significant effects on soil bulk density,and that the tree-shrub-grass mode was better than one single plantation for water conversation and vegetation recovery in sandy land subjected to mining. | Yinli Bi Hui Zou Chenwei Zhu | 2014 | International Journal of Coal Science & Technology2014,1,2: | 9 |
| 8 | NYD-SP27,a novel intrinsic decapacitation factor in sperm显示文摘Prior to fertilization sperm has to undergo an activation process known as capaciation,leading to the acrosome reaction.Till now,little is known about the mechanism for preventing premature capacitation in sperm although decapacitation factors from various sources have been thought to be involved.In this study,we report that NYD-SP27,an isoform of phospholipase C Zeta 1(PLCZ1),is localized to the sperm acrosome in mouse and human spermatozoa by immunofluorescence using a specific antibody.Western blot and double staining analyses show NYD-SP27 becomes detached from sperm,as they undergo capacitation and acrosome reaction.The absence of HCO_(3)^(-),a key factor in activating capacitation,from the capacitation-inducing medium prevents the loss of NYD-SP27 from sperm.The anti-NYD-SP27 antibody also prevents the loss of NYD-SP27 from sperm,reduced the number of capacitated sperm,inhibited the acrosome reaction induced by ATP and progesterone,and inhibited agonist-induced PLC-coupled Ca^(2+)mobilization in sperm,which can be mimicked by the PLC inhibitor,U73122.These data strongly suggest that NYD-SP27 is a physiological inhibitor of PLC that acts as an intrinsic decapacitation factor in sperm to prevent premature capacitation and acrosome reaction. | Ye Bi Wen-Ming Xu Hau Yan Wong Hui Zhu Zuo-Min Zhou Hsiao Chang Chan Jia-Hao Sha | 2009 | Asian Journal of Andrology2009,11,2: | 8 |
| 9 | Adverse Respiratory Events Increase Post-anesthesia Care Unit Stay in China:A 2-year Retrospective Matched Cohort Study显示文摘Despite growing attention to patients,safety worldwide,no data were available on the impact of adverse respiratory events(AREs)on post-anesthesia care and post-operation care in China.This study evaluated the occurrence of AREs,the impact of AREs on length of stay(LOS)in post-anesthesia care unit(PACU)and postoperative time in hospital,and PACU cost and in patient healthcare costs.A retrospective,matched-cohort study was conducted by prospectively collecting the data of 159 AREs in PACU during 2016-2017 in an university hospital in China.Records were reviewed by pre-trained,qualified nurses and/or anesthesiologists.The incidence and the impact of AREs were analyzed.The LOS in PACU and postoperative time in hospital and the costs in PACU and inpatient healthcare costs were also obtained.Results showed that there were 253 AREs involving 156 patients.Hypoxia(n=141,55.73%)and respiratory depression(n=70,27.67%)were the most common AREs.Measurement data including body mass index(BMI)(22.85±4.36 vs.22.32±3.83),duration of procedure(138.47±77.33 min vs.137.44±72.33 min),duration of anesthesia(176.35±82.66 min vs.174.61±78.08 min),LOS(16.53±10.65 days vs.16.57±9.56 days),inpatient healthcare costs($9465.57±9416.33 vs.$8166.51±5762.01),and postoperative LOS(11.26±8.77 days vs.11.9±8.30 days)showed no significant differences between ARE and matched groups(P<0.05).Duration(81.65±54.79 min vs.38.89±26.09 min)and costs($31.99±17.80 vs.$18.72±8.39)in PACU were significantly different in ARE group from those in matched group(P<0.001).Proportion of patients with prolonged stay in PACU was significantly higher in ARE group than in matched group(18.59%vs.1.28%),with an odds ratio(after matching)of 17.58(95%CI=4.11 to 75.10;P<0.001).The AREs that occurred during the immediate postoperative period in PACU increased the incidence rate of prolonged stay,delayed the PACU stay,and increased the costs in PACU,resulting in the need of higher levels of postoperative care than anticipated,but the postoperative LOS and inpatient healthcare costs were unchanged. | Shang-kun LIU Gang CHEN Bi YAN Jiao HUANG Hui XU | 2019 | Current Medical Science2019,39,2: | 7 |

| 13 | Retrieving the antarctic sea-ice concentration based on AMSR-E 89 GHz data显示文摘Sea-ice concentration is a key item in global climate change research.Recent progress in remotely sensed sea-ice concentration product has been stimulated by the use of a new sensor,advanced microwave scanning radiometer for EOS(AMSR-E),which offers a spatial resolution of 6 km×4 km at 89GHz.A new inversion algorithm named LASI(linear ASI) using AMSR-E 89GHz data was proposed and applied in the antarctic sea areas.And then comparisons between the LASI ice concentration products and those retrieved by the other two standard algorithms,ASI(arctic radiation and turbulence interaction study sea-ice algorithm) and bootstrap,were made.Both the spatial and temporal variability patterns of ice concentration differences,LASI minus ASI and LASI minus bootstrap,were investigated.Comparative data suggest a high result consistency,especially between LASI and ASI.On the other hand,in order to estimate the LASI ice concentration errors introduced by the tie-points uncertainties,a sensitivity analysis was carried out.Additionally an LASI algorithm error estimation based on the field measurements was also completed.The errors suggest that the moderate to high ice concentration areas(>70%) are less affected(never exceeding 10%) than those in the low ice concentration.LASI and ASI consume 75 and 112 s respectively when processing the same AMSR-E time series thourghout the year 2010.To conclude,by using the LASI algorithm,not only the seaice concentration can be retrieved with at least an equal quality as that of the two extensively demonstrated operational algorithms,ASI and bootstrap,but also in a more efficient way than ASI. | YU Qinglong WANG Hui WAN Liying BI Haibo | 2013 | Acta Oceanologica Sinica2013,32,9: | 5 |

| 15 | Alterations in gut microbiota and metabolites associated with altitude-induced cardiac hypertrophy in rats during hypobaric hypoxia challenge显示文摘The gut microbiota is involved in host responses to high altitude.However,the dynamics of intestinal microecology and their association with altitude-related illness are poorly understood.Here,we used a rat model of hypobaric hypoxia challenge to mimic plateau exposure and monitored the gut microbiome,short-chain fatty acids(SCFAs),and bile acids(BAs)over 28 d.We identified weight loss,polycythemia,and pathological cardiac hypertrophy in hypoxic rats,accompanied by a large compositional shift in the gut microbiota,which is mainly driven by the bacterial families of Prevotellaceae,Porphyromonadaceae,and Streptococcaceae.The aberrant gut microbiota was characterized by increased abundance of the Parabacteroides,Alistipes,and Lactococcus genera and a larger Bacteroides to Prevotella ratio.Trans-omics analyses showed that the gut microbiome was significantly correlated with the metabolic abnormalities of SCFAs and BAs in feces,suggesting an interaction network remodeling of the microbiome-metabolome after the hypobaric hypoxia challenge.Interestingly,the transplantation of fecal microbiota significantly increased the diversity of the gut microbiota,partially inhibited the increased abundance of the Bacteroides and Alistipes genera,restored the decrease of plasma propionate,and moderately ameliorated cardiac hypertrophy in hypoxic rats.Our results provide an insight into the longitudinal changes in intestinal microecology during the hypobaric hypoxia challenge.Abnormalities in the gut microbiota and microbial metabolites contribute to the development of high-altitude heart disease in rats. | Zhiyuan Pan Yichen Hu Zongyu Huang Ni Han Yan Li Xiaomei Zhuang Jiye Yin Hui Peng Quansheng Gao Wenpeng Zhang Yong Huang Yujun Cui Yujing Bi Zhenjiang Zech Xu Ruifu Yang | 2022 | Science China(Life Sciences)2022,65,10: | 5 |

| 17 | Sulphate attack resistance of high-performance concrete under compressive loading显示文摘In this paper, an experimental study on the sulphate attack resistance of high-performance concrete (HPC) with two different water-to-binder ratios (w/b) under compressive loading is presented. The sulphate concentration, compressive strength, and the mass change in the HPC specimens were determined for immersion in a Na2SO4 solution over different durations under external compressive loading by self-regulating loading equipment. The effects of the compressive stress, the w/b ratio, and the Na2SO4 solution concentration on the HPC sulphate attack resistance under compressive loading were analysed. The results showed that the HPC sulphate attack resistance under compressive loading was closely related to the stress level, the w/b ratio, and the Na2SO4 solution concentration. | 18 | A comparison of surgical efficacy between a 1.8-mm microincision and 3.2-mm and 5.5-mm incisions for phacoemulsification显示文摘Phacoemulsification is a commonly used surgical method in cataract surgery. This paper observes and compares the surgical efficacy of three incisions of different length for phacoemulsification to identify the optimal method for cataract surgery. Ninety patients were enrolled in the present study and divided into three groups. The 1.8-mm group received Bausch & Lomb MI60 foldable intraocular lens(IOL) implantation(n=30), 3.2-mm group received Bausch & Lomb Akreos AO foldable lens implantation(n=30), and 5.5-mm group received Alcon TYPE 05 rigid IOL implantation(n=30). Visual acuity, Oculyzer-based anterior segment analysis, and corneal endothelial cell count before surgery, and 3, 7, 30, and 90 d after surgery were recorded and compared. Pseudophakic accommodation three days, one week, one month, and three months after surgery was determined. Intraoperative ultrasound time and ultrasonic energy were recorded.
