| 1 | Landslide inventory and susceptibility modelling using geospatial tools,in Hunza-Nagar valley,northern Pakistan显示文摘A comprehensive landslide inventory and susceptibility maps are prerequisite for developing and implementing landslide mitigation strategies. Landslide susceptibility maps for the landslides prone regions in northern Pakistan are rarely available. The Hunza-Nagar valley in northern Pakistan is known for its frequent and devastating landslides. In this paper, we have developed a landslide inventory map for Hunza-Nagar valley by using the visual interpretation of the SPOT-5 satellite imagery and mapped a total of 172 landslides. The landslide inventory was subsequently divided into modelling and validation data sets. For the development of landslide susceptibility map seven discrete landslide causative factors were correlated with the landslide inventory map using weight of evidence and frequency ratio statistical models. Four different models of conditional independence were used for the selection of landslide causative factors. The produced landslides susceptibility maps were validated by the success rate and area under curves criteria. The prediction power of the models was also validated with the prediction rate curve. The validation results shows that the success rate curves of the weight of evidence and the frequency models are 82% and 79%, respectively. The prediction accuracy results obtained from this study are 84% for weight of evidence model and 80% for the frequency ratio model. Finally, the landslide susceptibility index maps were classified into five different varying susceptibility zones. | 2 | Evaluation of sugar and organic acid composition and their levels in highbush blueberries from two regions of China显示文摘Sweet and sour are the most important taste of blueberries,and they are produced by sugar and acid,respectively.Their contributions to the taste depend not only on the levels of sugar and acid,but also on the types and relative proportions of sugar and acid.Therefore,it is very important to evaluate the composition and levels of sugar and acid in blueberries.Regional differences and variety diversity also affect the sugar and acid characteristics of fruits.Therefore,this study selected two main producing regions in northern China(Weihai and Yingkou)to examine the sugar and acid characteristics of 11 common blueberry cultivars.The indexes measured included soluble sugars,organic acids,soluble solid content and titratable acidity.The results showed that glucose and fructose were the major sugars,and citric acid and quinic acid were the major organic acids.Correlation analysis showed that glucose,fructose,and sucrose were positively correlated with total sugar content;the citric acid content was positively correlated with the titratable acidity and total organic acids.Titratable acidity,glucose,fructose,sucrose,total sugar content,citric acid,shikimic acid and total acid content of the blueberries varied significantly between regions(P<0.05).In general,compared with Weihai blueberries,Yingkou blueberries had higher sugar content and lower acid content.The results of this study may provide useful references for the evaluation of sweet and sour flavors and cultivar selection of blueberries. | ZHANG Jia NIE Ji-yun LI Jing ZHANG Hui LI Ye Saqib FAROOQ Syed Asim Shah BACHA WANG Jie | 2020 | Journal of Integrative Agriculture2020,19,9: | 6 |
| 3 | A comparative study of bismuth-based photocatalysts with titanium dioxide for perfluorooctanoic acid degradation显示文摘Bismuth-based material has been broadly studied due to their potential applications in various areas,especially used as promising photocatalysts for the removal of persistent organic pollutants(POPs) and several approaches have been adopted to tailor their features.Herein,the bismuth-based photocatalysts(BiOCl,BiPO4,BiOPO4/BiOCl) were synthesized by hydrothermal method and advanced characterization techniques(XRD,SEM,EDS elemental mapping,Raman and UV-vis DRS) were employed to analyze their morphology,crystal structure,and purity of the prepared photocatalysts.These synthesized photocatalysts offered a praiseworthy activity as compared to commercial TiO2(P25) for the degradation of model pollutant perfluorooctanoic acid(PFOA) under 254 nm UV light.It was interesting to observe that all synthesized photocatalysts show significant degradation of PFOA and their photocatalytic activity follows the order:bismuth-based catalysts> TiO2(P25)> without catalyst.Bismuth-based catalysts degraded the PFOA by almost 99.99% within 45 min while this degradation efficiency was 66.05% with TiO2 under the same reaction condition.Our work shows that the bismuth-based photocatalysts are promising in PFOA treatment. | Aziz-Ur-Rahim Bacha Iqra Nabi Zhaoyang Fu Kejian Li Hanyun Cheng Liwu Zhang | 2019 | Chinese Chemical Letters2019,30,12: | 5 |

| 5 | Landslide inventory and susceptibility assessment using multiple statistical approaches along the Karakoram highway,northern Pakistan显示文摘China-Pakistan Economic Corridor(CPEC)is a framework of regional connectivity,which will not only benefit China and Pakistan but will have positive impact on Iran,Afghanistan,India,Central Asian Republic,and the region.The surrounding area in CPEC is prone to frequent disruption by geological hazards mainly landslides in northern Pakistan.Comprehensive landslide inventory and susceptibility assessment are rarely available to utilize for landslide mitigation strategies.This study aims to utilize the high-resolution satellite images to develop a comprehensive landslide inventory and subsequently develop landslide susceptibility maps using multiple techniques.The very high-resolution(VHR)satellite images are utilized to develop a landslide inventory using the visual image classification techniques,historic records and field observations.A total of 1632 landslides are mapped in the area.Four statistical models i.e.,frequency ratio,artificial neural network,weights of evidence and logistic regression were used for landslide susceptibility modeling by comparing the landslide inventory with the topographic parameters,geological features,drainage and road network.The developed landslides susceptibility maps were verified using the area under curve(AUC)method.The prediction power of the model was assessed by the prediction rate curve.The success rate curves show 93%,92.8%,92.7%and 87.4%accuracy of susceptibility maps for frequency ratio,artificial neural network,weights of evidence and logistic regression,respectively.The developed landslide inventory and susceptibility maps can be used for land use planning and landslide mitigation strategies. | Mian Luqman HUSSAIN Muhammad SHAFIQUE Alam Sher BACHA CHEN Xiao-qing CHEN Hua-yong | 2021 | Journal of Mountain Science2021,18,3: | 4 |
| 6 | Surface plasmon polariton at the interface of dielectric and graphene medium using Kerr effect显示文摘We theoretically investigate the control of surface plasmon polariton(SPP) generated at the interface of dielectric and graphene medium under Kerr nonlinearity. The controlled Kerr nonlinear signal of probe light beam in a dielectric medium is used to generate SPPs at the interface of dielectric and graphene medium. The positive, negative absorption, and dispersion properties of SPPs are modified and controlled by the control and Kerr fields. A large amplification(negative absorption) is noted for SPPs under the Kerr nonlinearity. The normal/anomalous slope of dispersion and propagation length of SPPs is modified and controlled with Kerr nonlinearity. This leads to significant variation in slow and fast SPP propagation.
