3Effects of ketogenic diet and ketone bodies on the cardiovascular system:Concentration matters显示文摘Ketone bodies have emerged as central mediators of metabolic health,and multiple beneficial effects of a ketogenic diet,impacting metabolism,neuronal pathologies and,to a certain extent,tumorigenesis,have been reported both in animal models and clinical research.Ketone bodies,endogenously produced by the liver,act pleiotropically as metabolic intermediates,signaling molecules,and epigenetic modifiers.The endothelium and the vascular system are central regulators of the organism’s metabolic state and become dysfunctional in cardiovascular disease,atherosclerosis,and diabetic micro-and macrovascular complications.As physiological circulating ketone bodies can attain millimolar concentrations,the endothelium is the first-line cell lineage exposed to them.While in diabetic ketoacidosis high ketone body concentrations are detrimental to the vasculature,recent research revealed that ketone bodies in the low millimolar range may exert beneficial effects on endothelial cell(EC)functioning by modulating the EC inflammatory status,senescence,and metabolism.Here,we review the long-held evidence of detrimental cardiovascular effects of ketoacidosis as well as the more recent evidence for a positive impact of ketone bodies—at lower concentrations—on the ECs metabolism and vascular physiology and the subjacent cellular and molecular mechanisms.We also explore arising controversies in the field and discuss the importance of ketone body concentrations in relation to their effects.At low concentration,endogenously produced ketone bodies upon uptake of a ketogenic diet or supplemented ketone bodies(or their precursors)may prove beneficial to ameliorate endothelial function and,consequently,pathologies in which endothelial damage occurs.Souad Nasser Varvara Vialichka Marta Biesiekierska Aneta Balcerczyk Luciano Pirola 2020World Journal of Diabetes2020,11,12:4

6Automated global delineation of human settlements from 40 years of Landsat satellite data archives显示文摘This paper presents the analysis of Earth Observation data records collected between 1975 and 2014 for assessing the extent and temporal evolution of the built-up surface in the frame of the Global Human Settlement Layer project.The scale of the information produced by the study enables the assessment of the whole continuum of human settlements from rural hamlets to megacities.The study applies enhanced processing methods as compared to the first production of the GHSL baseline data.The major improvements include the use of a more refined learning set on built-up areas derived from Sentinel-1 data which allowed testing the added-value of incremental learning in big data analytics.Herein,the new features of the GHSL built-up grids and the methods are described and compared with the previous ones using a reference set of building footprints for 277 areas of interest.The results show a gradual improvement in the accuracy measures with a gain of 3.6% in the balanced accuracy,between the first production of the GHSL baseline and the latest GHSL multitemporal built-up grids.A validation of the multitemporal component is also conducted at the global scale establishing the reliability of the built-up layer across time.Christina Corbane Martino Pesaresi Thomas Kemper Panagiotis Politis Aneta J.Florczyk Vasileios Syrris Michele Melchiorri Filip Sabo Pierre Soille 2019Big Earth Data2019,3,2:3
7Enhanced data and methods for improving open and free global population grids:putting‘leaving noonebehind’into practice显示文摘Data on global population distribution are a strategic resource currently in high demand in an age of new Development Agendas that call for universal inclusiveness of people.However,quality,detail,and age of census data varies significantly by country and suffers from shortcomings that propagate to derived population grids and their applications.In this work,the improved capabilities of recent remote sensing-derived global settlement data to detect and mitigate major discrepancies with census data is explored.Open layers mapping builtup presence were used to revise census units deemed as‘unpopulated’and to harmonize population distribution along coastlines.Automated procedures to detect and mitigate these anomalies,while minimizing changes to census geometry,preserving the regional distribution of population,and the overall counts were developed,tested,and applied.The two procedures employed for the detection of deficiencies in global census data obtained high rates of true positives,after verification and validation.Results also show that the targeted anomalies were significantly mitigated and are encouraging for further uses of free and open geospatial data derived from remote sensing in complementing and improving conventional sources of fundamental population statistics.Sergio Freire Marcello Schiavina Aneta J.Florczyk Kytt MacManus Martino Pesaresi Christina Corbane Olena Borkovska Jane Mills Linda Pistolesi John Squires Richard Sliuzas 2020International Journal of Digital Earth2020,13,1:3
8Nitric oxide-releasing aspirin but not conventional aspirin improves healing of experimental colitis显示文摘AIM:To determine the effect of non-selective cyclooxygenase (COX) inhibitors,selective COX-2 inhibitors and nitric oxide (NO)-releasing aspirin in the healing of ulcerative colitis.METHODS:Rats with 2,4,6 trinitrobenzenesulfonic acid (TNBS)-induced colitis received intragastric (ig) treatment with vehicle,aspirin (ASA) (a nonselective COX inhibitor),celecoxib (a selective COX-2 inhibitor) or NO-releasing ASA for a period of ten days.The area of colonic lesions,colonic blood flow (CBF),myeloperoxidase (MPO) activity and expression of proinflammatory markers COX-2,inducible form of nitric oxide synthase (iNOS),IL-1β and tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α were assessed.The effects of glyceryl trinitrate (GTN),a NO donor,and 2-(4-carboxyphenyl)-4,5-dihydro-4,4,5,5-tetramethyl-1H-imidazolyl-1-oxy-3-oxide,onopotassium salt (carboxy-PTIO),a NO scavenger,administered without and with ASA or NO-ASA,and the involvement of capsaicin-sensitive afferent nerves in the mechanism of healing the experimental colitis was also determined.RESULTS:Rats with colitis developed macroscopic and microscopic colonic lesions accompanied by a significant decrease in the CBF,a significant rise in colonic weight,MPO activity and plasma IL-1β and TNF-α levels.These effects were aggravated by ASA and 5-(4-chlorophenyl)-1-(4-methoxyphenyl)3-(trifluoromethyl)-1H-pyrazole (SC-560),but not celecoxib and counteracted by concurrent treatment with a synthetic prostaglandin E 2 (PGE 2) analog.Treatment with NO-ASA dose-dependently accelerated colonic healing followed by a rise in plasma NO x content and CBF,suppression of MPO and downregulation of COX-2,iNOS,IL-1β and TNF-α mRNAs.Treatment with GTN,the NO donor,significantly inhibited the ASA-induced colonic lesions and increased CBF,while carboxy-PTIO or capsaicin-denervation counteracted the NO-ASAinduced improvement of colonic healing and the accompanying increase in the CBF.These effects were restored by co-treatment with calcitonin gene related peptide (CGRP) and NO-ASA in capsaicin-denervated animals.CONCLUSION:NO-releasing ASA,in contrast to ASA,COX-1 inhibitors,and SC-560,accelerated the healing of colitis via a mechanism involving NO mediated improvement of microcirculation and activation of sensory nerves releasing CGRP.Malgorzata Zwolinska-Wcislo Tomasz Brzozowski Agata Ptak-Belowska Aneta Targosz Katarzyna Urbanczyk Slawomir Kwiecien Zbigniew Sliwowski 2011World Journal of Gastroenterology2011,17,36:2

10Technological Aspect of Processing Maps for the AA2099 Alloy显示文摘Results of an experimental and modelling study of forming processes in the AA2099 Al–Cu–Li alloy, for a wide range of temperatures, strains and strain rates, are presented. The analyses are based on tensile testing at 20 °C at a strain rate of 0.02 s-1and uniaxial compression testing in the temperature range 400–550 °C at strain rates ranging from0.001 to 100 s-1, for constant values of true strain of 0.5 and 0.9. The stability of plastic deformation and its relationship with a sensitivity of stress to strain rate are considered. The power dissipation efficiency coefficient, g(%), and the flow instability parameter, n B 0, were determined. The complex processing maps for hot working were determined and quantified, including process frames for basic forging processes: conventional forging and for near-superplastic and isothermal conditions. 11Metabolomic and elemental profiling of blood serum in bladder cancer显示文摘Bladder cancer(BC)is one of the most frequently diagnosed types of urinary cancer.Despite advances in treatment methods,no specific biomarkers are currently in use.Targeted and untargeted profiling of metabolites and elements of human blood serum from 100 BC patients and the same number of normal controls(NCs),with external validation,was attempted using three analytical methods,i.e.,nuclear magnetic resonance,gold and silver-109 nanoparticle-based laser desorption/ionization mass spectrometry(LDI-MS),and inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry(ICP-OES).All results were subjected to multivariate statistical analysis.Four potential serum biomarkers of BC,namely,isobutyrate,pyroglutamate,choline,and acetate,were quantified with proton nuclear magnetic resonance,which had excellent predictive ability as judged by the area under the curve(AUC)value of 0.999.Two elements,Li and Fe,were also found to distinguish between cancer and control samples,as judged from ICP-OES data and AUC of 0.807(in validation set).Twenty-five putatively identified compounds,mostly related to glycans and lipids,differentiated BC from NCs,as detected using LDI-MS.Five serum metabolites were found to discriminate between tumor grades and nine metabolites between tumor stages.The results from three different analytical platforms demonstrate that the identified distinct serum metabolites and metal elements have potential to be used for noninvasive detection,staging,and grading of BC.Krzysztof Ossolinski Tomasz Ruman Valerie Copie Brian P.Tripet Leonardo B.Nogueira Katiane O.P.C.Nogueira Artur Kołodziej Aneta Płaza-Altamer Anna Ossolinska Tadeusz Ossolinski Joanna Nizioł 2022Journal of Pharmaceutical Analysis2022,12,6:2

15Analysis of recoverable and permanent components of threshold voltage shift in NBT stressed p-channel power VDMOSFET显示文摘In this study we investigate the dynamic recovery effects in IRF9520 commercial p-channel power vertical double diffused metal–oxide semiconductor field-effect transistors(VDMOSFETs) subjected to negative bias temperature(NBT)stressing under the particular pulsed bias. Particular values of the pulsed stress voltage frequency and duty cycle are chosen in order to analyze the recoverable and permanent components of stress-induced threshold voltage shift in detail. The results are discussed in terms of the mechanisms responsible for buildup of oxide charge and interface traps. The partial recovery during the low level of pulsed gate voltage is ascribed to the removal of recoverable component of degradation, i.e., to passivation/neutralization of shallow oxide traps that are not transformed into the deeper traps(permanent component).Considering the value of characteristic time constant associated with complete removal of the recoverable component of degradation, it is shown that by selecting an appropriate combination of the frequency and duty cycle, the threshold voltage shifts induced under the pulsed negative bias temperature stress conditions can be significantly reduced, which may be utilized for improving the device lifetime in real application circuits.Danijel Dankovi Ninoslav Stojadinovi Zoran Priji Ivica Mani Vojkan Davidovi Aneta Priji Snezana Djoric-Veljkovi Snezana Golubovi 2015Chinese Physics B2015,24,10:1
