Antihyperglycemic activity, antihyperlipedemic activity, haematological effects and histopathological analysis of Sapindus mukorossi Gaerten fruits in streptozotocin induced diabetic rats显示文摘Objective:To investigate the antihyperglycemic and antihyperlipidemie properties of hydroalcoholic extract of fruits of Sapindus mukorossi Caerlen and its beneficial effect on haeniatological parameters with histopathological analysis in streptpzotocin induced diabetic rats. Methods:Sapindus mukorossi fruits extract(250 and 500 mg/kg body weight) and standard drug glybenclamide(0.5 mg/kg body weight) were administered to diabetic rats.Effect of extract on hyperglycemia, hyperlipidemia and hematological parameters was studied in diabetic rats.Histopathological changes in diabetic rat pancreas were also observed after extract and glybenclamide treatment. Results:Daily oral administration of Sapindus mukorossi fruits extract(250 and 500 mg/kg body weight) and glybenclamide for 20 days showed beneficial effects on blood glucose level(P<0.01) and lipid level. The extract has a favorable effect on the histopathological changes of the pancreas in streptozotocin induced diabetes. Conclusions: These findings reveal that the hydroalcoholic extract of Sapindus mukorossi fruits extract possesses antihyperglycemic and antihyperlipidemie properties. In addition.the extract can prevent various complications of diabetes and improve some haeniatological parameters. | Neeraj Verma G Amresh P K Sahu Neelam Mishra Anil P Singh Ch V Rao | 2012 | Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine2012,5,7: | 14
Hemodynamic monitoring in heart failure and pulmonary hypertension: From analog tracings to the digital age显示文摘Hemodynamic monitoring has long formed the cornerstone of heart failure(HF) and pulmonary hypertension diagnosis and management. We review the long history of invasive hemodynamic monitors initially using pulmonary artery(PA) pressure catheters in the hospital setting, to evaluating the utility of a number of implantable devices that can allow for ambulatory determination of intracardiac pressures. Although the use of indwelling PA catheters has fallen out of favor in a number of settings, implantable devices have afforded clinicians an opportunity for objective determination of a patient's volume status and pulmonary pressures. Some devices, such as the CardioM EMS and thoracic impedance monitors present as part of implantable cardiac defibrillators, are supported by a body of evidence which show the potential to reduce HF related morbidity and have received regulatory approval, whereas other devices have failed to show benefit and, in some cases, harm. Clearly these devices can convey a considerable amount of information and clinicians should start to familiarize themselves with their use and expect further development and refinement in the future. | Ryan Davey Amresh Raina | 2016 | World Journal of Transplantation2016,6,3: | 3
Is CT scan a predictor of instability in recurrent dislocation shoulder?显示文摘Purpose: Glenoid bone defect and the defect on the posterior-superior surface of the humerus “Hill- Sachs lesion” are the commonly seen bony lesions in patients with recurrent dislocation shoulder. Computed tomography (CT) scan is considered as the best option in assessing the bony defects in the recurrent dislocation shoulder. The aim of this study was to assess the clinical and radiological corelation in the patients with recurrent dislocation shoulder. Methods: Forty-four patients of recurrent dislocation shoulder who were evaluated between January 2015 and December 2017 at a tertiary care center, clinically and radiologically using CT scan and meeting the inclusion criteria, were included. The correlation between the clinical history of the number of dislocations and the bone loss using CT scan was evaluated. Two sided statistical tests were performed at a significance level of α=0.05. The analysis was conducted using IBM SPSS STATISTICS (version 22.0). Results: All the patients were male with mean age of 25.95 (SD ± 4.2) years were evaluated. Twenty-four patients sustained injury in sporting activities while 20 patients sustained injury in training. There were an average of 4.68 (SD ± 3.1, range 2e15, median 3) episodes of dislocation. Forty-one patients had the glenoid bone loss while 40 had the Hill-Sachs lesions. The mean glenoid width defect was 10.80%(range 0e27%) while the mean Hill-Sachs defect was 14.27 mm (range 0e26.6 mm). The mean area of bone loss of the glenoid surface was 10.81%(range 0e22.4%). The lesions were on track in 34 patients and off track in 10 patients. Conclusions: CT scan of the shoulder joint is an effective method for assessing the amount of bone loss. The number of dislocations are correlated significantly with off-track lesions and the amount of bone loss on the glenoid and Hill-Sachs lesion. The glenoid width bone loss of more than 9.80% or Hill-Sachs defect of more than 14.80 mm are the critical defects after which the frequency of dislocations increases. | K.P.Shijith Munish Sood Ajay Deep Sud Amresh Ghai | 2019 | Chinese Journal of Traumatology2019,22,3: | 2

Quantum chemical analysis for the formation of glycine in the interstellar medium显示文摘Glycine (C2H5NO2) was the first amino acid to be detected in space by the stardust space probe in Comet Wild2, and is used by living organisms to make proteins. We discuss three different reaction paths for the formation of glycine in interstellar space from some simpler molecules detected in the interstellar medium. The possibility of the formation of glycine in interstellar space is considered by radical-radical and radical-molecule interaction schemes using quantum chemical calculations with density functional theory at the B3LYP/6-31G (d,p) level. In the chemical pathways we discuss, a few reactions are found to be totally exothermic and barrierless while others are endothermic with a very small reaction barrier, thus giving rise to a high probability of forming glycine in interstellar space. | Amresh Singh Shivani Alka Misra Poonam Tandon | 2013 | Research in Astronomy and Astrophysics2013,13,8: | 1

Antihyperglycemic and antihyperlipidemic activity of ethyl acetate fraction of Rhododendron arboreum Smith flowers in streptozotocin induced diabetic rats and its role in regulating carbohydrate metabolism显示文摘Objective:To explore and identify the most potent antihyperglycemic fraction from the ethanol extract of Rhododendron arboreum(R.arboreum)flowers.Methods:Normal and streptozotocin induced diabetic rats were treated with all four fractions of R.arboreum flowers for short term and with fraction 3 for long term study. On completion of the treatment,a range of indicators were tested including fasting blood glucose, plasma protein, haemoglobin A1C,insulin secretion, body weight, blood lipid profile and carbohydrate metabolism regulating enzymes of liver. Results:In short term study, the fraction 3(Active fraction)produced a significant(P<0.0001)reduction(73.6%)in blood glucose level at a dose of 200 mg/kg after the treatment in the diabetic rats.Administration of active fraction(200 and 400 mg/kg)once daily for 30 d in streptozotocin diabetic rats resulted in a significant(P<0.001 to P<0.0001)fall in blood glucose level, hemoglobin A1C,serum urea and creatinine with significant but a increase in insulin level similar to standard drug glybenclamide.Further, the active fraction showed antihyperlipidemic activity as evidenced by significant(P<0.001 to P<0.0001)decreases in serum serum total cholesterol, triglycerides, low density lipoprotein cholesterol and very low density cholesterol levels coupled together with elevation of high density lipoprotein cholesterol in the diabetic rats. Conclusions:The active fraction of R.arboreum flowers decreases streptozotocin induced hyperglycemia by promoting insulin secretion and glycolysis and by decreasing gluconeogenesis. | Neeraj Verma G Amresh PK Sahu Ch V Rao Anil Pratap Singh | 2012 | Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Biomedicine2012,2,9: | 1
