Quantum chemical analysis for the formation of glycine in the interstellar medium显示文摘Glycine (C2H5NO2) was the first amino acid to be detected in space by the stardust space probe in Comet Wild2, and is used by living organisms to make proteins. We discuss three different reaction paths for the formation of glycine in interstellar space from some simpler molecules detected in the interstellar medium. The possibility of the formation of glycine in interstellar space is considered by radical-radical and radical-molecule interaction schemes using quantum chemical calculations with density functional theory at the B3LYP/6-31G (d,p) level. In the chemical pathways we discuss, a few reactions are found to be totally exothermic and barrierless while others are endothermic with a very small reaction barrier, thus giving rise to a high probability of forming glycine in interstellar space. | Amresh Singh Shivani Alka Misra Poonam Tandon | 2013 | Research in Astronomy and Astrophysics2013,13,8: | 1

Antihyperglycemic and antihyperlipidemic activity of ethyl acetate fraction of Rhododendron arboreum Smith flowers in streptozotocin induced diabetic rats and its role in regulating carbohydrate metabolism显示文摘Objective:To explore and identify the most potent antihyperglycemic fraction from the ethanol extract of Rhododendron arboreum(R.arboreum)flowers.Methods:Normal and streptozotocin induced diabetic rats were treated with all four fractions of R.arboreum flowers for short term and with fraction 3 for long term study. On completion of the treatment,a range of indicators were tested including fasting blood glucose, plasma protein, haemoglobin A1C,insulin secretion, body weight, blood lipid profile and carbohydrate metabolism regulating enzymes of liver. Results:In short term study, the fraction 3(Active fraction)produced a significant(P<0.0001)reduction(73.6%)in blood glucose level at a dose of 200 mg/kg after the treatment in the diabetic rats.Administration of active fraction(200 and 400 mg/kg)once daily for 30 d in streptozotocin diabetic rats resulted in a significant(P<0.001 to P<0.0001)fall in blood glucose level, hemoglobin A1C,serum urea and creatinine with significant but a increase in insulin level similar to standard drug glybenclamide.Further, the active fraction showed antihyperlipidemic activity as evidenced by significant(P<0.001 to P<0.0001)decreases in serum serum total cholesterol, triglycerides, low density lipoprotein cholesterol and very low density cholesterol levels coupled together with elevation of high density lipoprotein cholesterol in the diabetic rats. Conclusions:The active fraction of R.arboreum flowers decreases streptozotocin induced hyperglycemia by promoting insulin secretion and glycolysis and by decreasing gluconeogenesis. | Neeraj Verma G Amresh PK Sahu Ch V Rao Anil Pratap Singh | 2012 | Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Biomedicine2012,2,9: | 1

Formation of cyanoallene(buta-2, 3-dienenitrile) in the interstellar medium: a quantum chemical and spectroscopic study显示文摘The interstellar medium, filling the vast space between stars,is a rich reservoir of molecular material ranging from simple diatomic molecules to more complex, astrobiologically important molecules such as vinylcyanide, methylcyanodiaccetylene, cyanoallene, etc.Interstellar molecular cyanoallene is one of the most stable isomers of methylcynoacetylene. An attempt has been made to explore the possibility of forming cyanoallene in interstellar space by radical-radical and radical-molecule interaction schemes in the gaseous phase. The formation of cyanoallene starting from some simple, neutral interstellar molecules and radicals has been studied using density functional theory. The reaction energies and structures of the reactants and products show that the formation of cyanoallene is possible in the gaseous phase. Both of the considered reaction paths are totally exothermic and barrierless, thus giving rise to a high probability of occurrence.Rate constants for each step in the formation process of cyanoallene in both the reaction paths are estimated.A full vibrational analysis has been attempted for cyanoallene in the harmonic and anharmonic approximations.Anharmonic spectroscopic parameters such as rotational constants,rotation-vibration coupling constants and centrifugal distortion constants have been calculated. | Amresh Singh Shivani Alka Misra Poonam Tandon | 2014 | Research in Astronomy and Astrophysics2014,14,3: | 0
Role of the circulatory interleukin-6 in the pathogenesis of gliomas:A systematic review显示文摘BACKGROUND Glioma is the most common primary tumor in the brain originating from glial cells. In spite of extensive research, the overall survival rate is not enhanced.A number of published articles observed differentially circulating levels of cytokines in glioma.Interleukin-6(IL-6)protein coded by IL-6 gene is regulated by the immune system and it has been found to have a significant role in progression and apoptosis resistance of glioma.AIM To review the role of circulatory IL-6 in the development and progression of glioma and its utility as a biomarker.METHODS Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analysis(PRISMA)guidelines were applied to filter the relevant studies based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. We used a combination of keywords and the Reference Citation Analysis(RCA)tool to search the potential studies and performed data extraction from selected studies.RESULTS The published results were inconsistent;however, most studies showed a significantly higher IL-6 level in glioma cases as compared to controls.Comparative IL-6 level among the different grades of glioma showed a higher level with low-grade gliomas and lower level with high-grade gliomas.CONCLUSION IL-6 level significantly differed between cases and controls, and among different cancer stages, which shows its potential as a diagnostic and prognostic marker. | Manish Singh Alok Raghav Kirti Amresh Gautam | 2022 | World Journal of Methodology2022,12,5: | 0
Similar functional outcome using single anterior portal and standard two portals technique in recurrent dislocation of shoulder显示文摘Purpose:Recurrent dislocation of shoulder(RDS)is a common injury in high demand professionals, like athletes and military personnel. The treatment for the patients with Bankart lesion is the arthroscopic repair. This present study compares the outcomes of two different techniques of arthroscopic Bankart repair i.e.a standard two anterior portals technique and a single anterior portal technique in patients with RDS.Methods:Patients with traumatic RDS met the inclusion criteria were managed with Bankart repair using either two anterior portals(Group A)or a single anterior portal(Group B)technique.Patients were evaluated before the intervention and at the mean follow-up of approximately two years using Rowe score,Oxford shoulder score and Tegner activity scale. Results:The mean age of the patients in Groups A(n=34)and B(n=37)was 29.64 years and 29.05 years respectively(p=0.66).The dominant shoulder was involved in 27 patients in Group A and 22 patients in Group B(p=0.069).The operative time in Group A and B was 68.52 min and 46.35 min,respectively(p<0.001).The complications at follow-up,the mean Rowe score and Oxford score improved significantly in both groups compared with the pre-operative values. However, the final outcome scores were not significantly different between the both groups. The median Tegner's score preoperatively and at follow-up was 7 and 6,respectively in Groups A and B.Conclusions:Single anterior portal technique is an effective treatment modality, yielding a similar outcome as two anterior portals technique in the management of RDS. | Amresh Ghai Julie sachdeva Munish Sood Ajaydeep Sud Monika Chauhan Shalendra Singh | 2020 | Chinese Journal of Traumatology2020,23,2: | 0
