| 1 | Gallbladder cancer epidemiology, pathogenesis and molecular genetics: Recent update显示文摘Gallbladder cancer is a malignancy of biliary tract which is infrequent in developed countries but common in some specific geographical regions of developing countries. Late diagnosis and deprived prognosis are major problems for treatment of gallbladder carcinoma. The dramatic associations of this orphan cancer with various genetic and environmental factors are responsible for its poorly defined pathogenesis. An understanding to the relationship between epidemiology, molecular genetics and pathogenesis of gallbladder cancer can add new insights to its undetermined pathophysiology. Present review article provides a recent update regarding epidemiology, pathogenesis, and molecular genetics of gallbladder cancer. We systematically reviewed published literature on gallbladder cancer from online search engine Pub Med(http://gffzz16a62c593b5540ceh0uokf95xcwc96pu9.ffgz.tsg.suse.edu.cn/pubmed). Various keywords used for retrieval of articles were Gallbladder, cancer Epidemiology, molecular genetics and bullion operators like AND, OR, NOT. | 2 | Lapatinib plus capecitabine in treating HER2-positive advanced breast cancer:efficacy,safety,and biomarker results from Chinese patients显示文摘Overexpression of human epidermal growth factor receptor-2(HER2) in metastatic breast cancer(MBC) is associated with poor prognosis.This single-arm open-label trial(EGF109491;NCT00508274) was designed to confirm the efficacy and safety of lapatinib in combination with capecitabine in 52 heavily pretreated Chinese patients with HER2-positive MBC.The primary endpoint was clinical benefit rate(CBR).Secondary endpoints included progression-free survival(PFS),time to response(TTR),duration of response(DoR),central nervous system(CNS) as first site of relapse,and safety.The results showed that there were 23 patients with partial responses and 7 patients with stable disease,resulting in a CBR of 57.7%.The median PFS was 6.34 months(95% confidence interval,4.93-9.82 months).The median TTR and DoR were 4.07 months(range,0.03-14.78 months) and 6.93 months(range,1.45-9.72 months),respectively.Thirteen(25.0%) patients had new lesions as disease progression.Among them,2(3.8%) patients had CNS disease reported as the first relapse.The most common toxicities were palmar-plantar erythrodysesthesia(59.6%),diarrhea(48.1%),rash(48.1%),hyperbilirubinemia(34.6%),and fatigue(30.8%).Exploratory analyses of oncogenic mutations of PIK3CA suggested that of 38 patients providing a tumor sample,baseline PIK3CA mutation status was not associated with CBR(P = 0.639) or PFS(P = 0.989).These data confirm that the lapatinib plus capecitabine combination is an effective and well-tolerated treatment option for Chinese women with heavily pretreated MBC,irrespective of PIK3CA status. | Bing-He Xu Ze-Fei Jiang Daniel Chua Zhi-Min Shao Rong-Cheng Luo Xiao-Jia Wang Dong-Geng Liu Winnie Yeo Shi-Ying Yu Beth Newstat Alka Preston Anne-Marie Martin Hai-Dong Chi Li wang | 2011 | Chinese Journal of Cancer2011,30,5: | 17 |
| 3 | Co-gasification of coal and biomass an emerging clean energy technology: Status and prospects of development in Indian context显示文摘Co-gasification of coal and biomass is emerging as potential clean fuel technology to achieve high thermodynamic efficiency with relatively low CO2 emission. The coal and biomass have been exclusively gasified more than a century to obtain gas–liquid fuels and the production of chemicals. Co-gasification has higher efficiency than the solitary coal gasification because the cellulose, hemicellulose and lignin content of biomass help to ignite and enhance the rate of gasification. It is suggested that the extensive research on carbon reactivity pattern, heat release, reaction kinetics, etc. may support to reduce the uncertainties in the co-gasification performance of coal and biomass blends, particularly in India. The prospects of co-gasification technology in Indian context have been discussed considering the abundance of varieties of coal and biomass. The suitability of existing gasifier procedures and their limitations with operating parameters like temperature, residence time, density optimisation, feed rate, agglomeration intensity, the tar formation and techno-economics involved are described. | 5 | Antitumor Activity of Diallyl Sulfide in Two-StageMouse Skin Model of Carcinogenesis显示文摘It has been reported that diallyl sulfide (DAS), a sulfur-containing volatile compound in garlic (Allium sativum ), exerts anticarcinogenic activity in various rodent tumor models. In the present study, the antitumor property of DAS was tested in Swiss albino mice in the two steqe initiation-promotion mouse skin carcinogenesis. Skin cancers were initiated topically with a single subcarcinOgenic dose (52μg) of 7, 12-dimethyl benz (a) anthracene (DMBA). Promotion was performed by twice weekly applications of 12-O-tetradecanoyl phorbol-13-acetate (TPA) at a dose of 5μg/animal for 32 weeks. DAS was applied topically (250μg/animal) thrice weekly for 3 weeks for anti-initiating and 1 h prior to each promotion treatment for anti-promoting studies. The results showed that the treatment schedule of DAS can effectively delay the onset of tumorigenesis and reduce the cumulative number of tumors and the average number of tumors per mouse. In groups in which DAS applied prior to initiation or promotion, a significant population of the aniinals remained tumor-free till the termination of experiment. | 6 | Anti-arthritis activity of roots of Hemidesmus indicus R.Br.(Anantmul)in rats显示文摘Objective:To investigate the protective effects of hydroalcoholic and its fractions from roots of Hemidesmus indicus on arthritis in in vitro models of rodents.Methods:Preliminary phytochemical analysis and thin-layer chromoatography were performed to analyze constituents of hydroalcoholic extract and its three fraction namely ethyl acetate fraction,chloroform fraction and residual fraction of mot of Hemidesmus indicus.Arthritis rats models were established by Complete Freund’s Adjuvant.The parameters including paw edema,body weight,arthritic index,erythrocyte sedimentation rate,serum rheumatoid factor,serum C-reactive protein,serum nitrite level,and histopathology of synovial joints were observed.Methotrexate was taken as positive control.Results:Rats treated with hydroalcoholic extract(450 mg/kg,p.o.),ethyl acetate (75 mg/kg,p.o.),chloroform(60 mg/kg,p.o) and residual fractions(270 mg/kg,p.o.),showed significant decrease in physical and biochemical parameters compared with arthritic model rats. | 7 | Fabrication of three-dimensional graphene anode for augmenting performance in microbial fuel cells显示文摘In the present work,we have reported the synthesis of 3D graphene structures by simple chemical reduction method for application in microbial fuel cell(MFC)as an anode.The synthesis procedure includes synthesis of graphene oxide by modified Hummers method followed by simultaneous reduction of graphene oxide and the formation of hydrogels.The 3D graphene structures are characterized using X-ray diffraction and Raman spectroscopy techniques.Electrochemical characterization is carried out to study the capacitive properties and impedance studies of electrodes in conductive electrolyte.3D graphene electrodes show remarkably high capacitive current,charge storage and lower charge transfer resistance as estimated through cyclic voltammetry and Nyquist plots.In order to evaluate the performance of 3D graphene electrodes in MFC,power density and polarization curves are recorded in three configurations by varying terminal electron acceptors(TEA)viz.,dissolved oxygen(MFC-DO),potassium ferricyanide and MFC without TEA(MFC-NDO).3D graphene electrodes exhibits maximum power density of 0.49 mW/m^(2) in potassium ferricyanide followed by MFC-DO(0.36 mW/m^(2))and MFC-NDO(0.34 mW/m^(2)).Present work highlights the viability of chemically synthesized 3D graphene electrodes as an efficient anode material in MFC. | Alka Pareek J.Shanthi Sravan S.Venkata Mohan | 2019 | Carbon Resources Conversion2019,2,2: | 3 |

We discuss three different reaction paths for the formation of glycine in interstellar space from some simpler molecules detected in the interstellar medium. The possibility of the formation of glycine in interstellar space is considered by radical-radical and radical-molecule interaction schemes using quantum chemical calculations with density functional theory at the B3LYP/6-31G (d,p) level.
