| 1 | Literature review on the management of diabetic foot ulcer显示文摘Diabetic foot ulcer(DFU) is the most costly and devastating complication of diabetes mellitus, which affect 15% of diabetic patients during their lifetime.Based on National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence strategies, early effective management of DFU can reduce the severity of complications such as preventable amputations and possible mortality, and also can improve overall quality of life. The management of DFU should be optimized by using a multidisciplinary team, due to a holistic approach to wound management is required. Based on studies, blood sugar control, wound debridement, advanced dressings and offloading modalities should always be a part of DFU management. Furthermore, surgery to heal chronic ulcer and prevent recurrence should be considered as an essential component of management in some cases. Also, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, electrical stimulation, negative pressure wound therapy, bio-engineered skin and growth factors could be used as adjunct therapies for rapid healing of DFU. | 2 | Design of lightweight magnesium car body structure under crash and vibration constraints显示文摘Car body design in view of structural performance and lightweighting is a challenging task due to all the performance targets that must be satisfied such as vehicle safety and ride quality.In this paper,material replacement along with multidisciplinary design optimization strategy is proposed to develop a lightweight car body structure that satisfies the crash and vibration criteria while minimizing weight.Through finite element simulations,full frontal,offset frontal,and side crashes of a full car model are evaluated for peak acceleration,intrusion distance,and the internal energy absorbed by the structural parts.In addition,the first three fundamental natural frequencies are combined with the crash metrics to form the design constraints.The wall thicknesses of twenty-two parts are considered as the design variables.Latin Hypercube Sampling is used to sample the design space,while Radial Basis Function methodology is used to develop surrogate models for the selected crash responses at multiple sites as well as the first three fundamental natural frequencies.A nonlinear surrogate-based optimization problem is formulated for mass minimization under crash and vibration constraints.Using Sequential Quadratic Programming,the design optimization problem is solved with the results verified by finite element simulations.The performance of the optimum design with magnesium parts shows significant weight reduction and better performance compared to the baseline design. | Morteza Kiani Imtiaz Gandikota Masoud Rais-Rohani Keiichi Motoyama | 2014 | Journal of Magnesium and Alloys2014,2,2: | 24 |
| 3 | Portal hemodynamics as predictors of high risk esophageal varices in cirrhotic patients显示文摘AIM: To evaluate portal hypertension parameters in liver cirrhosis patients with and without esophageal varices (EV). METHODS: A cohort of patients with biopsy confirmed liver cirrhosis was investigated endoscopically and with color Doppler ultrasonography as a possible non-invasive predictive tool. The relationship between portal hemodynamics and the presence and size of EV was evaluated using uni-and multivariate approaches. RESULTS: Eighty five consecutive cirrhotic patients (43 men and 42 women) were enrolled. Mean age (± SD) was 47.5 (± 15.9). Portal vein diameter (13.88 ± 2.42 vs 12.00 ± 1.69, P < 0.0005) and liver vascular index (8.31 ± 2.72 vs 17.8 ± 6.28, P < 0.0005) were found to be significantly higher in patients with EV irrespective of size and in patients with large varices (14.54 ± 1.48 vs 13.24 ± 2.55, P < 0.05 and 6.45 ± 2.78 vs 10.96 ± 5.05, P < 0.0005, respectively), while portal vein flow velocity (13.25 ± 3.66 vs 20.25 ± 5.05, P < 0.0005), congestion index (CI) (0.11 ± 0.03 vs 0.06 ± 0.03, P < 0.0005), portal hypertensive index (2.62 ± 0.79 vs 1.33 ± 0.53, P < 0.0005), and hepatic (0.73 ± 0.07 vs 0.66 ± 0.07, P < 0.001) and splenic artery resistance index (RI) (0.73 ± 0.06 vs 0.62 ± 0.08, P < 0.0005) were significantly lower. A logistic regression model confirmed spleen size (P = 0.002, AUC 0.72) and portal hypertensive index (P = 0.040, AUC 0.79) as independent predictors for the occurrence of large esophageal varices (LEV). CONCLUSION: Our data suggest two independent situations for beginning endoscopic evaluation ofcompensated cirrhotic patients: Portal hypertensive index > 2.08 and spleen size > 15.05 cm. | 5 | The impact of iodinated X-ray contrast agents on formation and toxicity of disinfection by-products in drinking water显示文摘The presence of iodinated X-ray contrast media(ICM) in source waters is of high concern to public health because of their potential to generate highly toxic disinfection by-products(DBPs). The objective of this study was to determine the impact of ICM in source waters and the type of disinfectant on the overall toxicity of DBP mixtures and to determine which ICM and reaction conditions give rise to toxic by-products. Source waters collected from Akron,OH were treated with five different ICMs, including iopamidol, iopromide, iohexol,diatrizoate and iomeprol, with or without chlorine or chloramine disinfection. The reaction product mixtures were concentrated with XAD resins and the mammalian cell cytotoxicity and genotoxicity of the reaction mixture concentrates was measured. Water containing iopamidol generated an enhanced level of mammalian cell cytotoxicity and genotoxicity after disinfection. While chlorine disinfection with iopamidol resulted in the highest cytotoxicity overall, the relative iopamidol-mediated increase in toxicity was greater when chloramine was used as the disinfectant compared with chlorine. Four other ICMs(iopromide, iohexol, diatrizoate, and iomeprol) expressed some cytotoxicity over the control without any disinfection, and induced higher cytotoxicity when chlorinated. | 6 | Modeling and experimental validation of heat transfer and energy consumption in an innovative greenhouse structure显示文摘The commercial greenhouse is one of the most effective cultivation methods with a yield per cultivated area up to 10 times more than free land cultivation but the use of fossil fuels in this production field is very high.The objectives of this paper are to modeling and experimental evaluation of heat and mass transfer functions in an innovative solar greenhouse with thermal screen.For this propose,a semi-solar greenhouse was designed and constructed at the North-West of Iran in Azerbaijan Province(38100N and 46180E with elevation of 1364 m above the sea level).The inside environment factors include inside air temperature below screen(Ta),inside air temperature above screen(Tas),crop temperature(Tc),inside soil temperature(Ts),cover temperature(Tri)and thermal screen temperature(Tsc)were collected as the experimental data samples.The dynamic heat and mass transfer model used to estimate the temperature in six different points of the semi-solar greenhouse with initial values and consider the crop evapotranspiration.The results showed that dynamic model can predict the inside temperatures in four different points(Ta,Tc,Tri,Ts)with MAPE,RMSE and EF about 5-7%,1-2℃ and 80-91%for greenhouse without thermal screen and about 3-7%,0.6-1.8C and 89-96%for six different points of greenhouse with thermal screen(Ta,Tc,Tri,Ts,Tas,Tsc),respectively.The results of using thermal screen at night(12 h)in autumn showed that this method can decrease the use of fossil fuels up to 58%and so decrease the final cost and air pollution.This movable insulation caused about 15℃ difference between outside and inside air temperature and also made about 6℃ difference between Ta and Tas.The experimental results showed that inside thermal screen can decrease the crop temperature fluctuation at night. | Morteza Taki Yahya Ajabshirchi Seyed Faramarz Ranjbar Abbas Rohani Mansour Matloobi | 2016 | Information Processing in Agriculture2016,3,3: | 10 |

| 9 | Effects of rainfall patterns on runoff and rainfall-induced erosion显示文摘Rainfall-induced erosion involves the detachment of soil particles by raindrop impact and their transport by the combined action of the shallow surface runoff and raindrop impact.Although temporal variation in rainfall intensity(pattern)during natural rainstorms is a common phenomenon,the available information is inadequate to understand its effects on runoff and rainfall-induced erosion processes.To address this issue,four simulated rainfall patterns(constant,increasing,decreasing,and increasing-decreasing)with the same total kinetic energy were designed.Two soil types(sandy and sandy loam)were subjected to simulated rainfall using 15 cm×30 cm long detachment trays under infiltration conditions.For each simulation,runoff and sediment concentration were sampled at regular intervals.No obvious difference was observed in runoff across the two soil types,but there were significant differences in soil losses among the different rainfall patterns and stages.For varying-intensity rainfall patterns,the dominant sediment transport mechanism was not only influenced by raindrop detachment but also was affected by raindrop-induced shallow flow transport.Moreover,the efficiency of equations that predict the interrill erosion rate increased when the integrated raindrop impact and surface runoff rate were applied.Although the processes of interrill erosion are complex,the findings in this study may provide useful insight for developing models that predict the effects of rainfall pattern on runoff and erosion. | Morteza Alavinia Farzin Nasiri Saleh Hossain Asadi | 2019 | International Journal of Sediment Research2019,34,3: | 9 |
| 10 | Cement-bonded particleboard with a mixture of wheat straw and poplar wood显示文摘We investigated the hydration behavior and some physical/mechanical properties of cement-bonded particleboard (CBPB) containing particles of wheat straw and poplar wood at various usage ratios and bonded with Portland cement mixed with different levels of inorganic additives. We determined the setting time and compression strength of cement pastes containing different additives and particles, and studied the effects of these additives and particles on thickness swelling, internal bond strength and modulus of rupture of CBPB by using RSM (Response Surface Methodology). The mathematical model equations (second-order response functions) were derived to optimize properties of CBPB by computer simulation programming. Predicted values were in agreement with experimental values (R2 values of 0.93, 0.96 and 0.96 for TS, IB and MOR, respectively). RSM can be efficiently applied to model panel properties. The variables can affect the properties of panels. The cement composites with bending strength > 12.5 MPa and internal bond strength > 0.28 MPa can be made by using wheat straw as a reinforcing material. Straw particle usage up to 11.5% in the mixture satisfies the minimum requirements of International Standard, EN 312 (2003) for IB and MOR. The dose of 4.95% calcium chloride, by weight of cement, can improve mechanical properties of the panels at the minimum requirement of EN 312. | 12 | Applied machine learning in greenhouse simulation;new application and analysis显示文摘Prediction the inside environment variables in greenhouses is very important because they play a vital role in greenhouse cultivation and energy lost especially in cold and hot regions.The greenhouse environment is an uncertain nonlinear system which classical modeling methods have some problems to solve it.So the main goal of this study is to select the best method between Artificial Neural Network(ANN)and Support Vector Machine(SVM)to estimate three different variables include inside air,soil and plant temperatures(Ta,Ts,Tp)and also energy exchange in a polyethylene greenhouse in Shahreza city,Isfahan province,Iran.The environmental factors which influencing all the inside temperatures such as outside air temperature,wind speed and outside solar radiation were collected as data samples.In this research,13 different training algorithms were used for ANN models(MLPRBF).Based on K-fold cross validation and Randomized Complete Block(RCB)methodology,the best model was selected.The results showed that the type of training algorithm and kernel function are very important factors in ANN(RBF and MLP)and SVM models performance,respectively.Comparing RBF,MLP and SVM models showed that the performance of RBF to predict Ta,Tp and Ts variables is better according to small values of RMSE and MAPE and large value of R2 indices.The range of RMSE and MAPE factors for RBF model to predict Ta,Tp and Ts were between 0.07 and 0.12C and 0.28-0.50%,respectively.Generalizability and stability of the RBF model with 5-fold cross validation analysis showed that this method can use with small size of data groups.The performance of best model(RBF)to estimate the energy lost and exchange in the greenhouse with heat transfer models showed that this method can estimate the real data in greenhouse and then predict the energy lost and exchange with high accuracy. | Morteza Taki Saman Abdanan Mehdizadeh Abbas Rohani Majid Rahnama Mostafa Rahmati-Joneidabad | 2018 | Information Processing in Agriculture2018,5,2: | 8 |

| 15 | Antibacterial activity of eight Iranian plant extracts against methicillin and cefixime restistant Staphylococcous aureus strains显示文摘Objective:To assess the antibacterial activity of eight Iranian plant extracts against Staphylococcus aureus(S.aureus) strains which were isolated from infected patients.Methods: The studied strains were isolated from urine,stool,blood and wound of infected patients and identified by biochemical tests.In further,the antibacterial activity of 8 ethanolic local plant extracts including Querqus brantii(Q.brantii),Ziziphus spina-christi(Z.spina-christi),Peganum harmala(P.harmala),Oliveira decumbens(O.decumbens),Galium tricornutum(G.tricornutum), Vitex pseudo negundo(Vi.pseudo negundo),Salvia officinalis(S.officinalis),Vaccaria pyramidata (V.pyramidata) were then evaluated using agar disc diffusion method.Results:A total of 9 isolates were isolated and identified as S.aureus.Antibacterial profile of the strains showed that the strains were resistant to methicillin and cefixime.The highest antibacterial activity against the studied strains were belong to Q.brantii,P.harmala,Z.spina-christi and O.decumbens vent extracts with 11-40 mm,15-28 mm,8-26 mm and 10-20 mm of diameters,respectively. Intermediate antibacterial activity was exhibited by G.tricornutum and Vi.pseudo negundo against some of the studied strains with 7-20 mm and 7-13 mm of diameters,respectively. | 16 | An optimal energy management development for various configuration of plug-in and hybrid electric vehicle显示文摘Due to soaring fuel prices and environmental concerns, hybrid electric vehicle(HEV) technology attracts more attentions in last decade. Energy management system, configuration of HEV and traffic conditions are the main factors which affect HEV's fuel consumption, emission and performance. Therefore, optimal management of the energy components is a key element for the success of a HEV. An optimal energy management system is developed for HEV based on genetic algorithm. Then, different powertrain system component combinations effects are investigated in various driving cycles. HEV simulation results are compared for default rule-based, fuzzy and GA-fuzzy controllers by using ADVISOR. The results indicate the effectiveness of proposed optimal controller over real world driving cycles. Also, an optimal powertrain configuration to improve fuel consumption and emission efficiency is proposed for each driving condition. Finally, the effects of batteries in initial state of charge and hybridization factor are investigated on HEV performance to evaluate fuel consumption and emissions. Fuel consumption average reduction of about 14% is obtained for optimal configuration data in contrast to default configuration. | 19 | Gypsum-bonded particleboard manufactured from agricultural based material显示文摘Gypsum-bonded particleboard(GBPB) panels were made from various mixtures of particles of bagasse(Saccharum officinarum L.) and wheat straw(Triticum aestivum L.), bonded with different ratios of particle/gypsum. This study examined the feasibility of bagasse and wheat straw particles in the production of GBPB. One-layer experimental GBPBs with a density of 1.05 or 1.20 g·cm 3were manufactured at different ratios of bagasse/wheat straw, i.e., 100%/0%, 93.75%/6.25%, 87.5%/12.5%, 75%/25%, 50%/50%, 25%/75% and 0%/100% using two particle/ gypsum composite ratios, i.e., 1/2.75 and 1/3.25 by weight. Thickness swelling(TS), water absorption(WA), modulus of rupture(MOR), modulus of elasticity(MOE) and internal bond strength(IB) properties of the boards were evaluated and a statistical analysis was performed in order to examine the possible feasibility of these agricultural residues for use in commercial GBPB manufacturing. We determined that WA of panels decreases as the amount of straw increases to 100% and the LR/G(wood/gypsum) ratio decreases to 1/3.25, whereas the TS of panels decreases as the proportion of straw decreases to 0% and the LR/G ratio increases to 1/2.75. The experimental results also show that the MOR and MOE of panels containing 0%, 6.25% and 12.5% wheat straw with a LR/G ratio of 1/2.75 were higher than those of panels made from 25%–100% wheat straw with a LR/G ratio of 1/2.75, as well as those from all other percentages of straw with a LR/G ratio of 1/3.25. On the other hand, the IB of panels containing more than 12.5% straw with LR/G ratios of 1/2.75 and 1/3.25 were lower than those of panels made from 0–12.5% straw also with both LR/G ratios. Panels consisting of 0%, 6.25% and 12.5% wheat straw with LR/G ratios of 1/2.75 and 1/3.25 met the minimum EN standard requirements of mechanical properties for general purposes. | 20 | Inorganic and Organic Solution-Processed Thin Film Devices显示文摘Thin films and thin film devices have a ubiquitous presence in numerous conventional and emerging technologies. This is because of the recent advances in nanotechnology, the development of functional and smart materials,conducting polymers, molecular semiconductors, carbon nanotubes, and graphene, and the employment of unique properties of thin films and ultrathin films, such as high surface area, controlled nanostructure for effective charge transfer, and special physical and chemical properties, to develop new thin film devices. This paper is therefore intended to provide a concise critical review and research directions on most thin film devices, including thin film transistors, data storage memory, solar cells, organic light-emitting diodes, thermoelectric devices, smart materials, sensors, and actuators. The thin film devices may consist of organic, inorganic, and composite thin layers, and share similar functionality, properties, and fabrication routes. Therefore, due to the multidisciplinary nature of thin film devices, knowledge and advances already made in one area may be applicable to other similar areas.
