| 1 | Constructal design progress for eight types of heat sinks显示文摘This review paper summarizes constructal design progress performed by the authors for eight types of heat sinks with ten performance indexes being taken as the optimization objectives,respectively,by combining the methods of theoretical analysis and numerical calculation.The eight types of heat sinks are uniform height rectangular fin heat sink,non-uniform height rectangular fin heat sink,inline cylindrical pin-fin heat sink(ICPHS),plate single-row pin fin heat sink(PSRPHS),plate inline pin fin heat sink(PIPHS),plate staggered pin fin heat sink(PSPHS),single-layered microchannel heat sink(SLMCHS)with rectangular cross sections and double-layered microchannel heat sink(DLMCHS)with rectangular cross sections,respectively.And the ten performance indexes are heat transfer rate maximization,maximum thermal resistance minimization,minimization of equivalent thermal resistance which is defined based on the entransy dissipation rate(equivalent thermal resistance for short),field synergy number maximization,entropy generation rate minimization,operation cost minimization,thermo-economic function value minimization,pressure drop minimization,enhanced heat transfer factor maximization and efficiency evaluation criterion number maximization,respectively.The optimal constructs of the eight types of heat sinks with different constraints and based on the different optimization objectives are compared with each other.The results indicated that the optimal constructs mostly are different based on different optimization objectives under the same boundary condition.The optimization objective should be suitable chosen based on the focus when the constructal design for one heat sink is performed.The results obtained herein have some important theoretical significances and application values,and can provide scientific bases and theoretical guidelines for the thermal design of real heat sinks and their applications. | CHEN LinGen YANG AiBo FENG HuiJun GE YanLin XIA ShaoJun | 2020 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2020,63,6: | 25 |

| 4 | Efficient Location-Aware Data Placement for Data-Intensive Applications in Geo-distributed Scientific Data Centers显示文摘Recent developments in cloud computing and big data have spurred the emergence of data-intensive applications for which massive scientific datasets are stored in globally distributed scientific data centers that have a high frequency of data access by scientists worldwide. Multiple associated data items distributed in different scientific data centers may be requested for one data processing task, and data placement decisions must respect the storage capacity limits of the scientific data centers. Therefore, the optimization of data access cost in the placement of data items in globally distributed scientific data centers has become an increasingly important goal.Existing data placement approaches for geo-distributed data items are insufficient because they either cannot cope with the cost incurred by the associated data access, or they overlook storage capacity limitations, which are a very practical constraint of scientific data centers. In this paper, inspired by applications in the field of high energy physics, we propose an integer-programming-based data placement model that addresses the above challenges as a Non-deterministic Polynomial-time(NP)-hard problem. In addition we use a Lagrangian relaxation based heuristics algorithm to obtain ideal data placement solutions. | 5 | Controlling the Properties of Solvent-free Fe_3O_4 Nanofluids by Corona Structure显示文摘We studied the relationship between corona structure and properties of solvent-free Fe3O4 nanofluids. We proposed a series of corona structures with different branched chains and synthesize different solvent-free nanofluids in order to show the effect of corona structure on the phase behavior, dispersion, as well as rheology properties. Results demonstrate novel liquid-like behaviors without solvent at room temperature. Fe3O4 magnetic nanoparticles content is bigger than 8% and its size is about 23 nm. For the solvent-free nanofluids,the long chain corona has the internal plasticization, which can decrease the loss modulus of system, while the short chain of corona results in the high viscosity of nanofluids. Long alkyl chains of modifiers lead to lower viscosity and better flowability of nanofluids.
