The Reference Genome of Tea Plant and Resequencing of 81 Diverse Accessions Provide Insights into Its Genome Evolution and Adaptation显示文摘Tea plant is an important economic crop, which is used to produce the world's oldest and most widely consumed tea beverages. Here,we present a high-quality reference genome assembly of the tea plant(Camellia sinensis var.sinensis)consisting of 15 pseudo-chromosomes.LTR retrotransposons(LTR-RTs)account for 70.38%of the genome, and we present evidence that LTR-RTS play critical roles in genome size expansion and the transcriptional diversification of tea plant genes through preferential insertion in promoter regions and introns.Genes, particularly those coding for terpene biosynthesis pro-teins,associated with tea aroma and stress resistance were significantly amplified through recent tandem duplications and exist as gene clusters in tea plant genome.Phylogenetic analysis of the sequences of 81 tea plant accessions with diverse origins revealed three well-differentiated tea plant populations,support-ing the proposition for the southwest origin of the Chinese cultivated tea plant and its later spread to western Asia through introduction.Domestication and modern breeding left significant signatures on hundreds of genes in the tea plant genome, particularly those associated with tea quality and stress resis-tance.The genomic sequences of the reported reference and resequenced tea plant accessions provide valuable resources for future functional genomics study and molecular breeding of improved cul-tivars of tea plants.Enhua Xia Wei Tong Yan Hou Yanlin An Linbo Chen Qiong Wu Yunlong Liu Jie Yu Fangdong Li Ruopei Li Penghui Li Huijuan Zhao Ruoheng Ge Jin Huang Ali Inayat Mallano Yanrui Zhang Shengrui Liu Weiwei Deng Chuankui Song Zhaoliang Zhang Jian Zhao Shu Wei Zhengzhu Zhang Tao Xia Chaoling Wei Xiaochun Wan 2020Molecular Plant2020,13,7:51
Constructal design progress for eight types of heat sinks显示文摘This review paper summarizes constructal design progress performed by the authors for eight types of heat sinks with ten performance indexes being taken as the optimization objectives, respectively,by combining the methods of theoretical analysis and numerical calculation. The eight types of heat sinks are uniform height rectangular fin heat sink,non-uniform height rectangular fin heat sink, inline cylindrical pin-fin heat sink(ICPHS),plate single-row pin fin heat sink(PSRPHS),plate inline pin fin heat sink(PIPHS),plate staggered pin fin heat sink(PSPHS),single-layered microchannel heat sink(SLMCHS)with rectangular cross sections and double-layered microchannel heat sink(DLMCHS)with rectangular cross sections, respectively. And the ten performance indexes are heat transfer rate maximization, maximum thermal resistance minimization, minimization of equivalent thermal resistance which is defined based on the entransy dissipation rate(equivalent thermal resistance for short),field synergy number maximization, entropy generation rate minimization, operation cost minimization,thermo-economic function value minimization, pressure drop minimization, enhanced heat transfer factor maximization and efficiency evaluation criterion number maximization, respectively. The optimal constructs of the eight types of heat sinks with different constraints and based on the different optimization objectives are compared with each other. The results indicated that the optimal constructs mostly are different based on different optimization objectives under the same boundary condition. The optimization objective should be suitable chosen based on the focus when the constructal design for one heat sink is performed. The results obtained herein have some important theoretical significances and application values, and can provide scientific bases and theoretical guidelines for the thermal design of real heat sinks and their applications.CHEN LinGen YANG AiBo FENG HuiJun GE YanLin XIA ShaoJun 2020Science China(Technological Sciences)2020,63,6:25
Performance optimization of a class of combined thermoelectric heating devices显示文摘A detailed model of thermally-driven combined thermoelectric(TE) heating device is established. The device consists of twostage TE heat pump(TTEH) and two-stage TE generator(TTEG) with four external heat exchangers(HEXs). Both internal losses and external heat transfer irreversibilities are considered in the model. The heating capacity and the coefficient of performance(COP) of the device are improved through numerical optimization, which is of great significance to the application of the device. The distribution of the total TE element number among four TE devices and the distribution of the total external heat conductance among the four external HEXs are optimized. The results show that both the reservoir temperatures of TTEG and TTEH have significant influences on the performance and the corresponding optimum parameters of the device. The COP can reach 0.14 after optimization when the temperature difference of heat source is 150 K and the temperature difference of heating is 10 K.CHEN LinGen MENG FanKai GE YanLin FENG HuiJun XIA ShaoJun 2020Science China(Technological Sciences)2020,63,12:10
Optimal performance regions of an irreversible energy selective electron heat engine with double resonances显示文摘A theoretical model for irreversible double resonance ESE(energy selective electron) device with phonon induced bypass heat leakage which is operating as heat engine system is proposed. The thermodynamic performance is optimized and the impacts of heat leakage and structure parameters of the electron system on its performance are discussed in detail by using FTT(finite time thermodynamics). Moreover, performances of the ESE system with multiple optimization objective functions, including power output, thermal efficiency, ecological function and efficient power, are explored by numerical examples. New optimal performance regions and the selection plans of optimization objective functions of the ESE system are obtained. It reveals that the characteristic of power versus efficiency behave as loop-shaped curves in spite of the heat leakage which will always decrease the efficiency of the electron engine. By properly choosing the design parameters, the ESE engine can be designed to operate at optimal conditions according to different design purpose. The preferred design area should be located between the optimal effective power condition and the optimal ecological function condition.DING ZeMin CHEN LinGen GE YanLin XIE ZhiHui 2019Science China(Technological Sciences)2019,62,3:8
Performance optimization of thermionic refrigerators based on van der Waals heterostructures显示文摘In this paper, an irreversible thermionic refrigerator model based on van der Waals heterostructure with various irreversibilities is established by utilizing combination of non-equilibrium thermodynamics and finite time thermodynamics. The basic performance characteristics of the refrigerator are obtained. The effects of key factors, such as bias voltages, Schottky barrier heights and heat leakages, on the performance are studied. Results show that cooling rates and coefficients of performances(COPs) can attain the double maximum with proper modulation of barrier heights and bias voltages. Increasing cross-plane thermal resistance as well as decreasing electrode-reservoir thermal resistance and reservoir-reservoir thermal resistance can enhance the performance of the device. The optimal performance region is the interval between the maximum cooling rate point and the maximum COP point. By modulating the bias voltage, the working state of the device can fall into the optimal performance region. The optimal performance of the refrigerator when using single layer graphene and a few layers graphene as electrode material is also compared.QIU SuSu DING ZeMin CHEN LinGen GE YanLin 2021Science China(Technological Sciences)2021,64,5:6
Molten steel yield optimization of a converter based on constructal theory显示文摘Constructal theory is introduced into the molten steel yield maximization of a converter in this paper. For the specific total cost of materials, generalized constructal optimization of a converter steel-making process is performed. The optimal cost distribution of materials is obtained, and is also called as 'generalized optimal construct'. The effects of the hot metal composition contents, hot metal temperature, slag basicity and ratio of the waste steel price to the sinter ore price on the optimization results are analyzed. The results show that the molten steel yield after optimization is increased by 5.48% compared with that before optimization when sinter ore and waste steel are taken as the coolants, and the molten steel yield is increased by 6.84% when only the sinter ore is taken as the coolant. It means that taking sinter ore as coolant can improve the economic performance of the converter steelmaking process. Decreasing the contents of the silicon, phosphorus and manganese in the hot metal can increase the molten steel yield. The change of slag basicity affects the molten steel yield a little.CHEN LinGen LIU Xiong FENG HuiJun GE YanLin XIE ZhiHui 2018Science China(Technological Sciences)2018,61,4:2
Recent Progress in Atmospheric Chemistry Research in China: Establishing a Theoretical Framework for the “Air Pollution Complex”显示文摘Atmospheric chemistry research has been growing rapidly in China in the last 25 years since the concept of the“air pollution complex”was first proposed by Professor Xiaoyan TANG in 1997.For papers published in 2021 on air pollution(only papers included in the Web of Science Core Collection database were considered),more than 24000 papers were authored or co-authored by scientists working in China. In this paper,we review a limited number of representative and significant studies on atmospheric chemistry in China in the last few years, including studies on(1)sources and emission inventories,(2)atmospheric chemical processes,(3)interactions of air pollution with meteorology, weather and climate,(4)interactions between the biosphere and atmosphere,and(5)data assimilation. The intention was not to provide a complete review of all progress made in the last few years, but rather to serve as a starting point for learning more about atmospheric chemistry research in China. The advances reviewed in this paper have enabled a theoretical framework for the air pollution complex to be established, provided robust scientific support to highly successful air pollution control policies in China, and created great opportunities in education, training, and career development for many graduate students and young scientists. This paper further highlights that developing and low-income countries that are heavily affected by air pollution can benefit from these research advances, whilst at the same time acknowledging that many challenges and opportunities still remain in atmospheric chemistry research in China,to hopefully be addressed over the next few decades.Tong ZHU Mingjin TANG Meng GAO Xinhui BI Junji CAO Huizheng CHE Jianmin CHEN Aijun DING Pingqing FU Jian GAO Yang GAO Maofa GE Xinlei GE Zhiwei HAN Hong HE Ru-Jin HUANG Xin HUANG Hong LIAO Cheng LIU Huan LIU Jianguo LIU Shaw Chen LIU Keding LU Qingxin MA Wei NIE Min SHAO Yu SONG Yele SUN Xiao TANG Tao WANG Tijian WANG Weigang WANG Xuemei WANG Zifa WANG Yan YIN Qiang ZHANG Weijun ZHANG Yanlin ZHANG Yunhong ZHANG Yu ZHAO Mei ZHENG Bin ZHU Jiang ZHU 2023Advances in Atmospheric Sciences2023,40,8:2
Multi-objective optimization for membrane reactor for steam methane reforming heated by molten salt显示文摘A membrane reactor for steam methane reforming heated by molten salt(MS-SMRMR)is studied based on finite time thermodynamics for decreasing carbon emissions and improving hydrogen production rate(HPR).Effects of flow directions of sweep gas and molten salt on MS-SMRMR are researched.Profiles of temperatures,HPR,and local entropy generation rates(EGRs)of MS-SMRMR are analyzed.Hybrid particle swarm optimization algorithm is utilized to obtain the minimum of specific EGR(SEGR),ratio of EGR to HPR.Multi-objective optimization about HPR maximization and EGR minimization is performed by utilizing NSGA-II.The EGR caused by the mass transfer process is the largest among all irreversible processes in the MS-SMRMR.The membrane length should be slightly shorter than the reactor length when the flow direction of sweep gas is different from that of reaction mixture. When flow directions of molten salt and sweep gas are opposite to that of reaction mixture,SEGR is the smallest.Compared with SEGR calculated by utilizing initial parameters,SEGRs after primary, twice and triple optimizations reduce by 1.2%,5.5%and 5.7%,respectively.SEGR can be further decreased by adjusting other operating parameters.Pareto front provides many optimization results, and it contains SEGR minimization. In Pareto front,an optimum decision point is obtained based on decision-making of TOPSIS,and its EGR and HPR,respectively, increase by 7.12%and13.24%,compared with those obtained by using initial parameters. The results have certain theoretical guiding significance for optimization designs of MS-SMRMR.CHEN LinGen LI PengLei XIA ShaoJun KONG Rui GE YanLin 2022Science China(Technological Sciences)2022,65,6:2
Total entropy generation rate minimization configuration of a membrane reactor of methanol synthesis via carbon dioxide hydrogenation显示文摘The total entropy generation rate, internal exergy loss and exergy efficiency of the membrane reactor of methanol synthesis via carbon dioxide hydrogenation are compared, and the results show that the total entropy generation rate minimization is equivalent to the internal exergy loss minimization and the exergy efficiency maximization under the fixed inlet exergy. Therefore, this paper optimizes the membrane reactor with total entropy generation rate minimization as an optimization objective under a fixed methanol production rate. The optimal temperatures curves of exterior walls for three optimal membrane reactors with different boundary conditions are obtained by using optimal control theory and nonlinear programming. The influences of other geometric and operating parameters on optimization results of optimal membrane reactors are analyzed. The results indicate that when inlet temperatures of the reaction mixture and mixture in the permeable tube are unfixed, the optimizing curve of exterior wall temperature makes the total entropy generation rate of membrane reactor reduce by 12.39%compared with the total entropy generation rate of a reference membrane reactor with a linear exterior wall temperature.Decreasing the inlet molar flow rate of sweep gas and gas hourly space velocity and increasing inlet pressure of reaction mixture, the inlet pressure of mixture in the permeable tube and heat transfer coefficients are favorable for decreasing the total entropy generation rate in the membrane reactor. As the porosity of catalyst bed and reactor length increases, the minimum total entropy generation rate decreases first and then increases. From the perspective of engineering application, this paper establishes two membrane reactors(membrane reactor heated by three-stage furnaces of the same length and membrane reactor heated by threestage furnaces of different lengths),respectively. The minimum total entropy generation rates of the two reactors are reduced by11.67%and 11.79%compared with the total entropy generation rate in the reference membrane reactor, respectively. The obtained results are beneficial to the optimal design of energy-efficient membrane reactors.LI PengLei CHEN LinGen XIA ShaoJun KONG Rui GE YanLin 2022Science China(Technological Sciences)2022,65,3:2
Performance optimization of three-terminal energy selective electron generators显示文摘The energy selective electron device works among electron reservoirs with different temperatures and chemical potentials.Electrons obey the Fermi-Dirac distribution, and with the help of resonant filters,a part of electrons with specific energy levels can tunnel among reservoirs and provide current to an external circuit.Herein,an irreversible three-terminal energy selective electron generator model is proposed.Using statistical mechanics and finite-time-thermodynamics,analytical expressions of power and efficiency are derived, and the optimal performance of the device is investigated. Results show that the central energy level difference of filters, the chemical potential difference of low-temperature reservoirs, the interval of mean-central-energy-level of filters and the mean-chemical-potential of low-temperature reservoirs can be optimized to maximize power and efficiency. On the basis of power and efficiency analyses, performance characteristics under different objective functions, including efficient power and ecological function, are discussed and the corresponding optimal performance regions are obtained. The relationship between the entropy generation rate and the efficiency is investigated, and it is shown that the minimum-entropy-generation-state does not coincide with the maximum-efficiency-state.QIU SuSu DING ZeMin CHEN LinGen GE YanLin 2021Science China(Technological Sciences)2021,64,8:2

Optimization of the power, efficiency and ecological function for an air-standard irreversible Dual-Miller cycle显示文摘This paper establishes an irreversible DualMiller cycle (DMC) model with the heat transfer (HT) loss, friction loss (FL) and other internal irreversible losses. To analyze the effects of the cut-off ratio (ρ) and Miller cycle ratio (rM) on the power output (P), thermal efficiency (η) and ecological function (E), obtain the optimal popt and optimal rMopt, and compare the performance characteristics of DMC with its simplified cycles and with different optimization objective functions, the P,η and E of irreversible DMC are analyzed and optimized by applying the finite time thermodynamic (FTT) theory. Expressions of P,η and E are derived. The relationships among P,η, E and compression ratio (ε) are obtained by numerical examples. The effects of ρ and rM on P,η, E, maximum power output (MP), maximum efficiency (MEF) and maximum ecological function (ME) are analyzed. Performance differences among the DMC, the Otto cycle (OC), the Dual cycle (DDC), and the Otto-Miller cycle (OMC) are compared for fixed design parameters. Performance characteristics of irreversible DMC with the choice of P,η and E as optimization objective functions are analyzed and compared. The results show that the irreversible DMC engine can reach a twice-maximum power, a twicemaximum efficiency, and a twice-maximum ecological fiinction, respectively. Moreover, when choosing E as the optimization objective, there is a 5.2% of improvement in η while there is a drop of only 2.7% in P compared to choosing P as the optimization objective. However, there is a 5.6% of improvement in P while there is a drop of only 1.3% in rj compared to choosing as the optimization objective.Zhixiang WU Lingen CHEN Yanlin GE Fengrui SUN 2019Frontiers in Energy2019,13,3:1

Performance analyses of a novel finned parabolic trough receiver with inner tube for solar cascade heat collection显示文摘Designing highly-efficient parabolic trough receiver(PTR)contributes to promoting solar thermal utilization and alleviating energy crisis and environmental problems.A novel finned PTR with inner tube(FPTR-IT),which can provide different grades of thermal energy with two heat transfer fluids(oil and water),is designed to improve thermal efficiency. In this FPTR-IT,an inner tube and straight fins are employed to respectively lessen heat loss at upper and lower parts of the absorber.Based on the design,a numerical model is developed to investigate its performance.Comparisons with other PTRs indicate that the FPTR-IT can combine the advantages of PTR with inner tube and finned PTR and obtain the best performance. Moreover, performance evaluation under broad ranges of direct normal irradiances(300–1000 W/m^(2)),flow rates(50–250 L/min)and inlet temperatures(400–600 K)of oil as well as flow rates(3.6–10 L/min)and inlet temperatures(298.15–318.15 K)of water is investigated.Compared with conventional PTR,heat loss is reduced by 20.7%–63.2%and total efficiency is improved by 0.03%–4.27%.Furthermore,the proportions of heat gains for water and oil are located in 8.3%–73.9%and-12.0%–64.3%,while their temperature gains are located in 11.6–37.9 K and-1.2–19.6 K,respectively. Thus, the proposed FPTR-IT may have a promising application prospect in remote arid areas or islands to provide different grades of heat for electricity and freshwater production.LIU Peng REN TingTing GE YanLin LIU Wei CHEN LinGen 2023Science China(Technological Sciences)2023,66,5:0
Constructal design of a rectangular porous fin considering minimization of maximum temperature difference and pumping power consumption显示文摘A heat dissipation model of a rectangular porous fin is established based on constructal theory. First, the constructal design of rectangular porous fin is conducted by selecting a complex function minimization, which composed of linear weighting sum of maximum temperature difference and pumping power consumption, as optimization objective. Effects of gap height, air inlet velocity, total porous fin volume and porosity on the optimal constructs are investigated, respectively. The findings show that the complex function can attain its double minimum at a value of 0.802 when the fin length and number are optimized, and the corresponding optimal fin length and number are 8.01 mm and 10, respectively. In comparison to original design, the complex function and maximum temperature difference after twice optimization are decreased by 19.80% and 66.31%, respectively.Second, the comprehensive performance of porous fin is improved by simultaneously optimizing the fin length and number. The artificial neural network is applied to predict the fin performances, which is used to conduct multi-objective optimization based on NSGA-II algorithm. Optimal structure of porous fin for multiple requirements is gained by LINMAP and TOPSIS decisionmaking strategies. The findings in this study can serve as theoretical guides for fin thermal designs of electronic devices.LIU XiaoYe FENG HuiJun CHEN LinGen GE YanLin 2024Science China(Technological Sciences)2024,67,3:0
High-lying excited states in ^10Be from the ^9Be(^9Be,^10Be)^8Be reaction显示文摘A transfer-reaction experiment of ~9Be(~9Be,^(10)Be)~8Be was performed at a beam energy of 45 Me V.Excited states in ^(10)Be up to 18.80 Me V are produced using missing mass and invariant mass methods. Most of the observed high-lying resonant states, reconstructed from theα+~6He and t+~7Li decay channels, agree with the previously reported results. In addition, two new resonances at 15.6 and 18.8 Me V are identified from the present measurement. The 18.55 Me V state is found to decay into both the t + ~7Lig:s: and t + ~7Li?(0.478 MeV) channels, with a relative branching ratio of 0:93 ± 0:33. Further theoretical investigations are encouraged to interpret this new information on cluster structure in neutron-rich light nuclei.Wei Jiang YanLin Ye ZhiHuan Li ChengJian Lin QiTe Li YuCheng Ge JianLing Lou DongXing Jiang Jing Li ZhengYang Tian Jun Feng Biao Yang ZaiHong Yang Jie Chen HongLiang Zang Qiang Liu PengJie Li ZhiQiang Chen Yun Zhang Yang Liu XiaoHui Sun Jing Ma HuiMing Jia XinXing Xu Lei Yang NanRu Ma LiJie Sun 2017Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2017,60,6:0
Power and efficiency optimizations for an open cycle two-shaft gas turbine power plant显示文摘In finite-time thermodynamic analyses for various gas turbine cycles, there are two common models:one is closed-cycle model with thermal conductance optimization of heat exchangers, and another is open-cycle model with optimization of pressure drop(PD)distributions. Both of optimization also with searching optimal compressor pressure ratio(PR).This paper focuses on an open-cycle model.A two-shaft open-cycle gas turbine power plant(OCGTPP)is modeled in this paper.Expressions of power output(PP)and thermal conversion efficiency(TCE)are deduced, and these performances are optimized by varying the relative PD and compressor PR.The results show that there exist the optimal values(0.32 and 14.0)of PD and PR which lead to double maximum dimensionless PP(1.75).There also exists an optimal value(0.38)of area allocation ratio which leads to maximum TCE(0.37).Moreover,the performances of three types of gas turbine cycles, such as one-shaft and two-shaft ones, are compared. When the relative pressure drop at the compressor inlet is small, the TCE of third cycle is the biggest one;when this pressure drop is large, the PP of second cycle is the biggest one.The results herein can be applied to guide the preliminary designs of OCGTPPs.Lingen Chen Huijun Feng Yanlin Ge Shuangshuang Shi 2023Propulsion and Power Research2023,12,4:0
