1Essential oils used in aromatherapy: A systemic review显示文摘Nowadays, use of alternative and complementary therapies with mainstream medicine has gained the momentum. Aromatherapy is one of the complementary therapies which use essential oils as the major therapeutic agents to treat several diseases. The essential or volatile oils are extracted from the flowers, barks, stem, leaves, roots, fruits and other parts of the plant by various methods. It came into existence after the scientists deciphered the antiseptic and skin permeability properties of essential oils. Inhalation, local application and baths are the major methods used in aromatherapy that utilize these oils to penetrate the human skin surface with marked aura. Once the oils are in the system, they remodulate themselves and work in a friendly manner at the site of malfunction or at the affected area. This type of therapy utilizes various permutation and combinations to get relief from numerous ailments like depression, indigestion, headache, insomnia, muscular pain, respiratory problems, skin ailments, swollen joints, urine associated complications etc. The essential oils are found to be more beneficial when other aspects of life and diet are given due consideration. This review explores the information available in the literature regarding therapeutic, medical, cosmetic, psychological, olfactory, massage aromatherapy, safety issues and different plants used in aromatherapy. 4Three Tier Fog Networks: Enabling IoT/5G for Latency Sensitive Applications显示文摘Following the progression in Internet of Things(IoT) and 5G communication networks, the traditional cloud computing model have shifted to fog computing. Fog computing provides mobile computing, network control and storage to the network edges to assist latency critical and computation-intensive applications. Moreover, security features are improved in fog paradigm by processing critical data on edge devices instead of data centres outside the control plane of users. However, fog network deployment imposes many challenges including resource allocation, privacy of users, non-availability of programming model and testing software and support for the heterogenous networks. This article highlights these challenges and their potential solutions in detail. This article also discusses threetier fog network architecture, its standardization and benefits in detail. The proposed resource allocation mechanism for three tier fog networks based on swap matching is described. 6Analysis of the effect of passive measures on the energy consumption and zero-energy prospects of residential buildings in Pakistan显示文摘Climate change can adversely impact the thermal comfort and energy efficiency of the buildings stock. The South Asian countries are particularly vulnerable to the adverse impacts of climate change specially in the form of rising temperatures and increasing frequency of heat waves. The passive building design measures can be useful in mitigating and adapting to the climate change by increasing energy efficiency and reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. In this study various passive climate change adaptation measures (PCAMs) have been used individually and in form of combinations in order to analyze their impact on the energy efficacy of residential buildings in Pakistan. It has been found that the natural ventilation and front green wall are the most efficient options for reducing the overall energy consumption. By implementation of these PCAMs, cooling demand can be decreased by 27.75% while heating demand can be reduced by 35%. Secondly, the prospect of net zero-energy building and reduced CO2 emissions are also studied. It has been shown that building can achieve net-zero energy on an annual basis at every orientation and it can attain the status of nearly zero-energy building on a monthly basis. 7Volumetric,Viscometric and Refractive Index Behaviors of α-Amino Acids in Aqueous Caffeine Solution at Varying Temperatures显示文摘Measurements of density(ρ), viscosity(η), and refractive index(n), were carried out on α-amino acids, DL-alanine (Ala), D-phenylalanine (Phe), and DL-threonine (Thr) (0.01-0.05 mol·L-1), in 0.05 mol·L-1 aqueous caffeine solution at 298.15, 303.15, 308.15, and 313.15 K. These measurements have been carried out to evaluate some important parameters, viz., apparent molar volume (фυ), partial molar volume (фυ0v), transfer volume (фυ0v(tr)), viscosity A and B coefficients of Jones-Dole equation, free energies of activation per mole of solvent (Δμ0#1) and solute (Δμ0#2), enthalpies (ΔH) and entropies (ΔS) of activation of viscous flow, variation of B with temperature (αB/αT)P, and molar refractive index (RD). 8Anxiolytic potential of ursolic acid derivative-a stearoyl glucoside isolated from Lantana camara L.(verbanaceae)显示文摘Objective:To investigate the anxiolytic activity of newly isolated compound by our lab called ursolic acid stearoyl glucoside(UASG) from the leaves of Lantana camam(L camam).Methods: Column chromatography was used to isolate UASG.Anxiolytic potential was experimentally proved and demonstrated through Elevated plus-maze,Open field and light and dark test. 9Seismic resilience of retrofitted RC buildings显示文摘Existing buildings can be at a greater seismic risk due to non-conformance to current design codes and may require structural retrofitting to improve building performance.The performance of buildings is measured in terms of immediate consequences due to direct damage,but the continuing impacts related to recovery are not considered in seismic retrofit assessment.This paper introduces a framework of retrofit selection based on the seismic resilience of deficient buildings retrofitted with the conventional mitigation approaches.The assembly-based methodology is considered for the seismic resilience assessment by compiling a nonlinear numerical model and a building performance model.The collapse fragility is developed from the capacity curve,and the resulting social,economic,and environmental consequences are determined.The seismic resilience of a building is assessed by developing a downtime assessment methodology incorporating sequence of repairs,impeding factors,and utility availability.Five functionality states are developed for the building functionality given investigated time interval,and a functionality curve for each retrofit is determined.It is concluded that seismic resilience can be used as a performance indicator to assess the continuing impacts of a hazard for the retrofit selection.Ghazanfar Ali Anwar You Dong 2020Earthquake Engineering and Engineering Vibration2020,19,3:2

14Suitable energy platform significantly improves charge separation of g-C3N4 for CO2 reduction and pollutant oxidation under visible-light显示文摘The photocatalytic activities of g-C3N4 can be significantly improved by increasing life time of the photogenerated charges. Here, in this work we introduced TiO2 as proper energy platform to accept the photogenerated electrons from g-C3N4 during photocatalysis. The nanophotocatalysts formed from the combination of a suitable amount of TiO2 nanoparticles and g-C3N4 nanosheets showed 8.75 and 4.22% enhancement in photocatalytic activities for CO2 reduction and 2-chlorophenol(2-CP) degradation under visible light illumination as compared to bare g-C3N4. Based on the surface photovoltage spectra, photoluminescence spectra and examination of formed hydroxyl radicals, it was confirmed that these enhanced photoactivities were attributed to the much-improved charge separation via the electron transfer from g-C3N4 to TiO2. 17不同温度下α-氨基酸在CTAB溶液中的体积及折光率的变化(英文)显示文摘Densities(ρ)and refractive indices(nD)of glycine(Gly),DL-alanine(Ala),DL-valine(Val)(0.02,0.04,0.06,0.08,and 0.10 mol·L-1)in 0.005 and 0.008 mol·L-1 aqueous cetyltrimethylammonium bromide(CTAB)have been measured at 298.15,303.15,308.15,and 313.15 K.The density data have been utilized to calculate apparent molar volumes(φv),partial molar volumes(φ0v),at infinite dilution and partial molar volumes of transfer φ0v(tr)of amino acids.The refractive index data have been used to calculate molar refractivity(RD)of amino acids in aqueous cetyltrimethylammonium bromide.It has been observed that φ0v varies linearly with increasing number of carbon atoms in the alkyl chain of amino acids,and hence,was split to get contributions from the zwitterionic end groups(NH+3,COO-)and methylene group(CH2)of the amino acids.The behaviour of these parameters has been used to investigate the solute-solute,solute-solvent interactions and the effect of cetyltrimethylammonium cation on these interactions.ALI Anwar SABIR S.
