1Planning failure-censored constant-stress partially accelerated life test显示文摘This article deals with the case of the failure-censored constant-stress partially accelerated life test(CSPALT) for highly reliable materials or products assuming the Pareto distribution of the second kind. The maximum likelihood(ML) method is used to estimate the parameters of the CSPALT model. The performance of ML estimators is investigated via their mean square error. Also,the average confidence interval length(IL) and the associated coverage probability(CP) are obtained. Moreover, optimum CSPALT plans that determine the optimal proportion of the test units allocated to each stress are developed. Such optimum test plans minimize the generalized asymptotic variance(GAV) of the ML estimators of the model parameters. 2Mesoporous WO_3-graphene photocatalyst for photocatalytic degradation of Methylene Blue dye under visible light illumination显示文摘Advanced oxidation technologies are a friendly environmental approach for the remediation of industrial wastewaters. Here, one pot synthesis of mesoporous WO_3 and WO_3-graphene oxide(GO) nanocomposites has been performed through the sol–gel method. Then, platinum(Pt) nanoparticles were deposited onto the WO_3 and WO_3-GO nanocomposite through photochemical reduction to produce mesoporous Pt/WO_3 and Pt/WO_3-GO nanocomposites. X-ray diffraction(XRD) findings exhibit a formation of monoclinic and triclinic WO_3 phases. Transmission Electron Microscope(TEM) images of Pt/WO_3-GO nanocomposites exhibited that WO_3 nanoparticles are obviously agglomerated and the particle sizes of Pt and WO_3 are ~ 10 nm and 20–50 nm, respectively. The mesoporous Pt/WO_3 and Pt/WO_3-GO nanocomposites were assessed for photocatalytic degradation of Methylene Blue(MB) as a probe molecule under visible light illumination.The findings showed that mesoporous Pt/WO_3, WO_3-GO and Pt/WO_3-GO nanocomposites exhibited much higher photocatalytic efficiencies than the pure WO_3. The photodegradation rates by mesoporous Pt/WO_3-GO nanocomposites are 3, 2 and 1.15 times greater than those by mesoporous WO_3, WO_3-GO, and Pt/WO_3, respectively. The key factors of the enhanced photocatalytic performance of Pt/WO_3-GO nanocomposites could be explained by the highly freedom electron transfer through the synergetic effect between WO_3 and GO sheets, in addition to the Pt nanoparticles that act as active sites for O2 reduction, which suppresses the electron hole pair recombination in the Pt/WO_3-GO nanocomposites.Adel A.Ismail M.Faisal Adel Al-Haddad 2018Journal of Environmental Sciences2018,30,4:3
3Influence of Zn and Mg Alloying on the Corrosion Resistance Properties of Al Coating Applied by Arc Thermal Spray Process in Simulated Weather Solution显示文摘In this study,Al–Zn and Al–Mg coatings were deposited on steel substrates by an arc thermal spray process.X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy were used to characterize the deposited coatings and corrosion products.Open circuit potential(OCP),electrochemical impedance spectroscopy,and potentiodynamic studies were used to assess the corrosion characteristics of these coatings after exposure according to the Society of Automotive Engineers(SAE)J2334 solution of varying durations.This solution simulates an industrial environment and contains chloride and carbonate ions that induce corrosion of the deposited coatings.However,the Al–Mg alloy coating maintained an OCP of approximately-0.911 V versus Ag/Ag Cl in the SAE J2334 solution even after 792 h of exposure.This indicates that it protects the steel sacrificially,whereas the Al–Zn coating provides only barrier-type protection through the deposition of corrosion products.The Al–Mg coating acts as a self-healing coating and provides protection by forming Mg_6Al_2(OH)_(16)CO_3(Al–Mg layered double hydroxides).Mg_6Al_2(OH)_(16)CO_3has interlocking characteristics with a morphology of plate-like nanostructures and an ion-exchange ability that can improve the corrosion resistance properties of the coating.The presence of Zn in the corrosion products of the Al–Zn coating allows dissolution,but,at the same time,Zn_5(OH)_6(CO_3)_2and Zn_6Al_2(OH)_(16)CO_3are formed and act to reduce the corrosion rate.Han-Seung Lee Seung-Jun Kwon Jitendra Kumar Singh Mohamed A.Ismail 2018Acta Metallurgica Sinica(English Letters)2018,31,6:2
4Potentiality of Different Seed Priming Agents to Mitigate Cold Stress of Winter Rice Seedling显示文摘Seed priming has proved to be an effective pre-germination seed invigoration technique for different crops to improve seed and seedling performance under different abiotic stresses.In Bangladesh,winter rice is very often exposed to cold waves just after sowing in the nursery bed resulting in poor seed germination and seedling emergence,yellowish and thin seedlings production,and a very low survival rate.Seed priming may mitigate the cold stress during seed germination and seedling emergence and helps in the quality seedling production of winter rice.To evaluate the efficacy of different seed priming techniques in increasing seedling emergence,growth,vigor and survivability of winter rice cultivars under cold stress,a pot experiment was conducted at the Department of Agronomy,Bangladesh Agricultural University during December 2018 to January 2019.The experiment comprised two factors,(A)Winter rice variety namely,(i)BRRI dhan29 and (ii)BRRI dhan36;(B)Seed priming agent namely (i)Control(no priming),(ii)20000 ppm NaCl,(iii)30000 ppm NaCl,(iv)20000 ppm KCl,(v)30000 ppm KCl,(vi)20000 ppm CaCl2,(vii)30000 ppm CaCl2,(viii)50 ppm CuSO4,(ix)75 ppm CuSO_(4),(x)10000 ppm ZnSO4,(xi)15000 ppm ZnSO4,(xii)2 ppm Na2MoO4,(xiii)3 ppm Na2MoO4,(xiv)100 ppm PEG(Polyethylene glycol 4000)and (xv)150 ppm PEG.Seeds were sown on two different dates viz.,1st December and 1st January so that seedlings are exposed to cold stress at different stages.The experiment was laid out in a completely randomized design(CRD)with three replications.Results indicated that(in most of the cases)seed priming has a positive impact on seedling emergence rate(%),root length,shoot length,root shoot ratio,root dry weight,shoot dry weight,seedling dry weight and survival rate(%).Among the priming agents,KCl and CaCl2 performed best;while priming with NaCl and PEG showed no advantages over no priming for both the sowing dates.In general,BRRI dhan36 performed better than BRRI dhan29 in terms of seedling growth because of its higher tolerance to cold stress.But,both the varieties performed similarly in terms of emergence rate and survival rate.Thus,priming is an effective tool to increase seed germination,better seedling growth,and higher seedling survivability of winter rice under cold stress,and KCl(20000 ppm)or CaCl2(20000 ppm)can be considered as a viable priming agent.Md.Parvez Anwar Md.Ariful Islam Khalid A.K.M.Mominul Islam Sabina Yeasmin Sharif Ahmed Adel Hadifa Ismail A.Ismail Akbar Hossain Ayman EL Sabagh 2021Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany2021,90,5:1
5Sensitive and fast response ethanol chemical sensor based on as-grown Gd_2O_3 nanostructures显示文摘Well crystalline gadolinium oxide(Gd2O3) nanostructures were grown by annealing the hydrothermally as-prepared nanostructures without using any template. Microscopic studies of Gd2O3 nanostructures were recorded along the [111] direction due to the clearly resolved interplanar distance d(222)~0.31 nm of the cubic crystal structure Gd2O3. Sensing mechanism of Gd2O3 as efficient electron mediator for the detection of ethanol was explored. As-fabricated sensor demonstrated the high-sensitivity of ~0.266 μAm/M/cm2 with low detection limit(~52.2 μmol/L) and correlation coefficient(r2, 0.618). To the best of our knowledge, this was the first report for the detection of ethanol using as-grown(at 1000 oC) Gd2O3 nanostructures by simple and reliable I-V technique and rapid assessment of the reaction kinetics(in the order of seconds). 8Effect of drying methods and parameters on the antioxidant properties of tea(Camellia sinensis)leaves显示文摘Background:Conventional drying using heated air oven is commonly used as a method for preserving the product but often affects the nutritional value,taste,and texture.However,the heat from the drying method can oxidize and destroy heat-sensitive compounds.Superheated steam(SHS)drying uses superheated steam instead of hot air or combustion gases in a direct dryer and was reported better at preserving the nutritional values of food products.Aim:To evaluate the effect of SHS drying on antioxidant properties of tea leaves.The study also compared SHS drying with conventional and freeze-drying methods.Results:Tea leaves dried using freeze drying retained the highest level of antioxidant properties compared to other drying methods.The leaves dried using SHS exhibited significantly higher radical scavenging activity,ORAC and FRAP values compared to oven drying method.At different drying temperatures(150℃and 175℃),oven dried leaves showed significantly higher(p<0.05)antioxidant properties than that of SHS dried ones.Tea leaves dried for 60,75,and 90 min using SHS showed significantly higher(p<0.05)FRAP and ORAC values,and also total phenolic content compared to oven dried tea leaves.Conclusion:Tea leaves dried using SHS drying method retained higher level of antioxidant properties compared to oven drying.The drying method also retained lower antioxidant properties as drying time increased.Further study involving SHS drying in food-related fields should be conducted to support its usefulness.A.S.Roslan A.Ismail Y.Ando A.Azlan 2020Food Production, Processing and Nutrition2020,2,1:1
9Sources of Nitrogen in Combination with Systems of Irrigation Influence the Productivity of Modern Rice(Oryza sativa L.)Cultivars during Dry Season in Sub-Tropical Environment显示文摘In irrigated agricultural systems,nitrogen(N)and water are the vital resources for sustainability of the crop production in the modern era of climate change.The current study aimed to assess the impact of water and N management on the productivity of irrigated rice cultivars.In the context,a field observation was done at the research farm of Bangladesh Agricultural University,Mymensingh,during dry seasons in consecutive two years(2018–2019 and 2019–2020).The experiments were set up following split-plot design assigning water management in the main plots,nitrogen management in the sub-plots,and the cultivars were approved in the split-split plot with three replications.After two years observation,it was revealed that rice cultivar Binadhan-8 gave the maximum value of leaf area index,number effective tillers hill-1 and grains panicle-1 which lead to the higher grain yield(GY).Substantial relationships were observed among the concentration of N,growth,total dry matter(TDM)and N content,N uptake,N utilization effectiveness,and GY.However,with little exception,the Combined effect of water and N,cultivars and water management were varied significantly for all parameters.Finally,the results of the current study concluded that application of irrigation at 8 days after the disappearance of ponded water and source of 105 kg N ha-1 from PU+Poultry manure are the best management approach for the excellent performance of rice cultivar Binadhan-8.Uttam Kumer Sarker Md.Romij Uddin Ahmed Khairul Hasan Md.Abdur Rahman Sarkar Md.Abdus Salam Md.Alamgir Hossain Eldessoky S.Dessoky Ismail A.Ismail 2022Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany2022,91,8:0
10Availability,sustainability and accessibility of agro crop residue production and solar radiation in Egypt for producing highly chemical products through pyrolysis processes显示文摘This study examines the large amount of agricultural waste produced in Egypt between 2010 and 2019 by analysing data from various departments within the Agriculture Ministry.It also provides a comprehensive database on the biomass available from agricultural waste in Egypt and its potential applications for producing power,heat and chemical products.When biomass-pyrolysis systems powered by solar energy are used,research demonstrates the potential to convert agricultural waste into a variety of chemical compounds.This approach utilizes solar energy,a clean and renewable source,and has wide-ranging industrial and power generation applications.Despite Egypt’s reliance on agriculture,the country currently utilizes little biomass for energy production and has not previously used it as a source for creating chemical products,which could potentially save on the imported oil used in these industries.The findings of the study are graphically presented using histograms,pie charts,etc.The overall production of residues reached the 30-Mt level in 2019.Because it contains the most rice-cultivated land,Dakahlia(Lower Egypt region)produces the highest percentage of the total residue(37.17%).Qena governorate(Upper Egypt region)produces 1.14 metric tons of residues,with sugarcane accounting for 20.3%of the total.Saad A.El-Sayed Mohamed A.Ismail Mohamed E.Mostafa Emad H.Noseir Tarek M.Khass 2023Clean Energy2023,7,3:0
11The Pushtashan juvenile suprasubduction zone assemblage of Kurdistan (northeastern Iraq): A Cretaceous (Cenomanian) Neo-Tethys missing link显示文摘The Pushtashan suprasubduction zone assemblage of volcanic rocks, gabbros, norites and peridotites occurs in the Zagros suture zone, Kurdistan region, northeastern Iraq. Volcanic rocks are dominant in the assemblage and consist mainly of basalt and basaltic andesite flows with interlayered red shale and limestone horizons. Earlier lavas tend to be MORB-like, whereas later lavas display island arc tholeiite to boninitic geochemical characteristics. Tholeiitic gabbros intrude the norites and display fractionation trends typical of crystallisation under low-pressure conditions, whereas the norites display calc-alkaline traits, suggesting their source included mantle metasomatised by fluids released from subducted oceanic crust. Enrichment of Rb, Ba, Sr, Th and the presence of negative Nb anomalies indicate generation in a suprasubduction zone setting. Trondhjemite and granodiorite intrusions are present in the volcanic rocks, gabbros and norites. SHRIMP U-Pb dating of magmatic zircons from a granodiorite yields a mean^(206)Pb/^(238)U age of 96.0 ±2.0 Ma(Cenomanian). The initial ε_(Hf) value for the zircons show a narrow range from +12.8 to+15.6, with a weighted mean of + 13.90±0.96. This initial value is within error of model depleted mantle at 96 Ma or slightly below that, in the field of arc rocks with minimal contamination by older continental crust. The compositional bimodality of the Pushtashan suprasubduction sequence suggests seafloor spreading during the initiation of subduction, with a lava stratigraphy from earlyerupted MORB transitioning into calc-alkaline lavas and finally by 96 Ma intrusion of granodioritic and trondhjemitic bodies with juvenile crustal isotopic signatures. The results confirm another Cretaceous arc remnant preserved as an allochthon within the Iraqi segment of the Cenozoic Zagros suture zone. 12Corrosion inhibition of carbon steel in hydrochloric acid by cationic arylthiophenes as new eco-friendly inhibitors: Experimental and quantum chemical study显示文摘This study describes the adsorption behavior of three arylthiophene derivatives namely:2-(4-amidino-3-fluorophenyl)-5-[4-methoxy phenyl] thiophene dihydrochloride salt(MA-1217),2-(4-amidinophenyl)-5-[4-chlorophenyll thiophene dihydrochloride salt(MA-1316) and 2-(4-amidino-3-fluorophenyl)-5-[4-ch lorophenyllthiophene dihydrochloride salt(MA-1312) at C-steel in 1.0 mol·L^(-1) HCl interface using experimental and theoretical studies.Electrochemical and mass loss measurements showed that the inhibition efficiency(IE) of the arylthiophene derivatives increases with increasing concentrations and exhibited maximum efficiency 89% at 21×10^(-6) mol·L^(-1)(MA-1217) by mass loss method.The investigated arylthiophene derivatives obey the Langmuir adsorption isotherm.From polarization studies the arylthiophene derivatives act as mixed-type inhibitors.Surface analysis were carried out and discussed.The mode of orientation and adsorption of inhibitor molecules on C-steel surface was studied using molecular dynamics(MD) simulations.Quantum chemical parameters as well as the radial distribution function indices and binding energies confirm the experimental results.Abd El-Aziz S.Fouda Mohamed A.Ismail Abdulraqeb A.Al-Khamri Ashraf S.Abousalem 2021Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2021,34,12:0
