3How many sutures in the southern Central Asian Orogenic Belt:Insights from East Xinjiang-West Gansu(NW China)?显示文摘How ophiolitic mèlanges can be defined as sutures is controversial with regard to accretionary orogenesis and continental growth.The Chinese Altay,East junggar,Tianshan,and Beishan belts of the southern Central Asian Orogenic Belt(CAOB) in Northwest China,offer a special natural laboratory to resolve this puzzle.In the Chinese Altay,the Erqis unit consists of ophiolitic melanges and coherent assemblages,forming a Paleozoic accretionary complex.At least two ophiolitic melanges(Armantai,and Kelameili) in East Junggar,characterized by imbricated ophiolitic melanges,Nb-enriched basalts,adakitic rocks and volcanic rocks,belong to a Devonian-Carboniferous intra-oceanic island arc with some Paleozoic ophiolites,superimposed by Permian arc volcanism.In the Tianshan,ophiolitic melanges like Kanggurtag,North Tianshan,and South Tianshan occur as part of some Paleozoic accretionary complexes related to amalgamation of arc terranes.In the Beishan there are also several ophiolitic melanges,including the Hongshishan,Xingxingxia-Shibangjing,Hongliuhe-Xichangjing,and Liuyuan ophiolitic units.Most ophiolitic melanges in the study area are characterized by ultramafic,mafic and other components,which are juxtaposed,or even emplaced as lenses and knockers in a matrix of some coherent units.The tectonic settings of various components are different,and some adjacent units in the same melange show contrasting different tectonic settings.The formation ages of these various components are in a wide spectrum,varying from Neoproterozoic to Permian.Therefore we cannot assume that these ophiolitic melanges always form in linear sutures as a result of the closure of specific oceans.Often the ophiolitic components formed either as the substrate of intra-oceanic arcs,or were accreted as lenses or knockers in subduction-accretion complexes.Using published age and paleogeographic constraints,we propose the presence of (1) a major early Paleozoic tectonic boundary that separates the Chinese Altay-East Junggar multiple subduction systems of the southern Siberian active margin from those of the northern Tarim;and (2) a major Permian suture zone that separates the Tianshan-Beishan from the northern active margin of the Tarim Craton.These new observations and interpretations have broad implications for the architecture and crustal growth of central Asia and other ancient orogens as well.Wenjiao Xiao Chunming Han Wei Liu Bo Wan Ji'en Zhang Songjian Ao Zhiyong Zhang Dongfang Song Zhonghua Tian Jun Luo 2014Geoscience Frontiers2014,5,4:31
4Molecular fossils and oil-source rock correlations in Tarim Basin, NW China显示文摘The distribution of 'molecular fossils' (bio-markers) of steroid compounds in extracts from some spe-cific geologic age in the Tarim Basin have been analyzed andare used as the fingerprints for the oil-source rock correla-tion. Having been affected by maturation, migration, phasefractionation and biodegradation, not any molecular fossilsrelated to source and environment can be used as the finger-prints for oil-source rock correlation. Some special bio-markers widely existed in the extracts from Cambrian andOrdovician rocks in the Tarim Basin and showed obviousdifference in each stratum, including dinosteranes (C30),4-methyl-24-ethyl-cholestanes (C30) and their aromatizedsteroids, C24-norcholestanes and C28 steranes originated fromdinoflagellates and diatom. Few oils such as the heavy oildrilled in the Cambrian reservoir from Tadong 2 well (TD2)correlated well with the extracts from the Cambrian. 5Genome analysis of Taraxacum kok-saghyz Rodin provides new insights into rubber biosynthesis显示文摘The Russian dandelion Taraxacum kok-saghyz Rodin(TKS), a member of the Composite family and a potential alternative source of natural rubber(NR) and inulin, is an ideal model system for studying rubber biosynthesis. Here we present the draft genome of TKS, the first assembled NR-producing weed plant. The draft TKS genome assembly has a length of 1.29 Gb, containing 46 731 predicted protein-coding genes and68.56% repeats, in which the LTR-RT elements predominantly contribute to the genome enlargement. We analyzed the heterozygous regions/genes, suggesting its possible involvement in inbreeding depression.Through comparative studies between rubber-producing and non-rubber-producing plants, we found that enzymes of the mevalonate(MVA) pathway and rubber elongation might be critical for rubber biosynthesis, and several key isoforms have been isolated and shown to be predominantly expressed in the latex, indicating their crucial functions in rubber biosynthesis. Moreover, for two important families in rubber elongation, the CPT/CPTL and REF/SRPP families, diverse evolutionary tracks have been revealed. 6CO_2 Emissions Embodied in China's Foreign Trade:An Investigation from the Perspective of Global Vertical Specialization显示文摘In light of the growth in vertically specialized in global trade,the present paper uses input-output tables from the World Input-Output Database to construct an environmental multiregional input-output model to calculate the CO_2 emissions embodied in China's international trade during 1995-2009.The advantage of this model lies in its incorporation of the reexported CO_2emissions component embodied in trade and its ability to differentiate domesticsourcedCO_2 emissions from foreign-sourced CO_2 emissions in trade.The results show that carbon emissions embodied in both China's exports and imports increased significantly during 1995-2009.One important reason for this is that the re-exported carbon emissions embodied in China's imported intermediate inputs increased substantially during this period.Our research reveals that accelerating the transformation of trade pattern and upgrading processing trade should be emphasized in the formulation of policy to prompt CO_2 emissions abatement in China.Yuhuan Zhao Zhonghua Zhang Song Wang Shaojun Wang 2014China & World Economy2014,22,4:21
7GRAIN INCOMPLETE FILLING 2 regulates grain filling and starch synthesis during rice caryopsis development显示文摘Rice grain filling determines grain weight,final yield and grain quality.Here,a rice defective grain filling mutant,gif2,was identified.Grains of gif2 showed a slower filling rate and a significant lower final grain weight and yield compared to wild-type.The starch content in gif2 was noticeably decreased and its physicochemical properties were also altered.Moreover,gif2 endosperm cells showed obvious defects in compound granule formation.Positional cloning identified GIF2 to encode an ADP-glucose pyrophosphorylase(AGP) large subunit,AGPL2;consequently,AGP enzyme activity in gif2 endosperms was remarkably decreased.GIF2 is mainly expressed in developing grains and the coded protein localizes in the cytosol.Yeast two hybrid assay showed that GIF2 interacted with AGP small subunits Os AGPS1,Os AGPS2a and Os AGPS2 b.Transcript levels for granule-bound starch synthase,starch synthase,starch branching enzyme and starch debranching enzyme were distinctly elevated in gif2 grains.In addition,the level of nucleotide diversity of the GIF2 locus was extremely low in both cultivated and wild rice.All of these results suggest that GIF2 plays important roles in the regulation of grain filling and starch biosynthesis during caryopsis development,and that it has been preserved during selection throughout domestication of modern rice.Xiangjin Wei Guiai Jiao Haiyan Lin Zhonghua Sheng Gaoneng Shao Lihong Xie Shaoqing Tang Qingguo Xu Peisong Hu 2017Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2017,59,2:20
8Multislice CT angiography in coronary artery disease: Technical developments, radiation dose and diagnostic value显示文摘Multislice computed tomography (CT) angiography has been increasingly used in the detection and diagnosis of coronary artery disease because of its rapid technical evolution from the early generation of 4-slice CT scanners to the latest models such as 64-slice, 256-slice and 320-slice CT scanners. Technical developments of multislice CT imaging enable improved diagnostic value in the detection of coronary artery disease, and this indicates that multislice CT can be used as a reliable lessinvasive alternative to invasive coronary angiography in selected patients. In addition, multislice CT angiography has played a significant role in the prediction of disease progression and cardiac events. Despite promising results reported in the literature, multislice CT has the disadvantage of having a high radiation dose which could contribute to the radiation-induced malignancy. A variety of strategies have been currently undertaken to reduce the radiation dose associated with multislice CT coronary angiography while in the meantime acquiring diagnostic images. In this article, the author will review the technical developments, radiation dose associated with multislice CT coronary angiography, and strategies to reduce radiation dose. 11Application of autocorrelation method on ionospheric short--term forecasting in China显示文摘Adopting the autocorrelation method in the ionospheric short-term forecasting, we put for- ward a simple and practical forecasting method― the sectional autocorrelation method, that is, for pre- dictions of one hour to four hours ahead the auto- correlation coefficient of RDF with the “iteration” method is selected, for prediction of more than four hours ahead, the autocorrelation coefficient of f0F2 with the “at once” method is used. The prediction precisions have been quantitatively estimated based on the data from Chongqing and Guangzhou Ionos- onde Stations. It is shown that the method is much improved for the predictions of one hour to four hours ahead. For the predictions of more than four hours ahead the prediction error reaches a saturation value, which is still lower than that of the “median” method. 12Aggregated spatial distributions of species in a subtropical karst forest,southwestern China显示文摘Aims spatial distribution patterns of species reflect not only the ecological processes but also the habitat features that are related to species distribution.in karst topography,species distribution patterns provide more specific information about their environments.The objectives of this study are as follows:(i)to analyse and explain the spatial distribution patterns of conspecific trees in an old-growth subtropical karst forest;(ii)to investigate pattern changes at different spatial scales;(iii)to test the spatial pattern similarity(or dissimilarity)between trees at different abundances,diameter at breast height classes,canopy layers and different functional groups(shade tolerance and seed dispersal mode);(iv)to examine whether habitat heterogeneity has an important effect on the species spatial distribution.Methods The spatial distributions of woody species with≥20 individuals in a 1-ha subtropical karst forest plot at maolan in southwestern China were quantified using the relative neighbourhood densityΩbased on the average density of conspecific species in a circular neigh-bourhood around each species.Important Findingsaggregated distribution is the dominant pattern in the karst forest,but the ratio of aggregated species in total species number decreases with an increase in spatial scale.less abundant species are more aggregated than most abundant species.aggregation is weaker in larger diameter classes,which is consistent with the prediction of self-thinning.seed dispersal mode influences spatial patterns,with species dispersed by animals being less aggregated than those dispersed by wind and gravity.other species functional traits(e.g.shade tolerance)also influence the species spatial distributions.moreover,differences among species habitat associations,e.g.with rocky outcrops,play a significant role in species spatial distributions.These results indicate that habitat heterogeneity,seed dispersal limitation and self-thinning primarily contribute to the species spatial distributions in this subtropical karst forest.Zhonghua Zhang Gang Hu Jiedong Zhu Jian Ni 2013Journal of Plant Ecology2013,6,2:17

18Aspartic acid in the hippocampus:a biomarker for postoperative cognitive dysfunction显示文摘This study established an aged rat model of cognitive dysfunction using anesthesia with 2% isoflurane and 80% oxygen for 2 hours. Twenty-four hours later, Y-maze test results showed that isoflurane significantly impaired cognitive function in aged rats. Gas chromatography-mass spectrometry results showed that isoflurane also significantly increased the levels of N,N-diethylacetamide, n-ethylacetamide, aspartic acid, malic acid and arabinonic acid in the hippocampus of isoflurane-treated rats. Moreover, aspartic acid, N,N-diethylacetamide, n-ethylacetamide and malic acid concentration was positively correlated with the degree of cognitive dysfunction in the isoflurane-treated rats. It is evident that hippocampal metabolite changes are involved in the formation of cognitive dysfunction after isoflurane anesthesia. To further verify these results, this study cultured hippocampal neurons in vitro, which were then treated with aspartic acid(100 μmol/L). 19GBSS-BINDING PROTEIN,encoding a CBM48 domain-containing protein,affects rice quality and yield^∞显示文摘The percentage of amylose in the endosperm of rice(Oryza sativa)largely determines grain cooking and eating qualities.Granule-bound starch synthase I(GBSSI)and GBSSII are responsible for amylose biosynthesis in the endosperm and leaf,respectively.Here,we identified OsGBP,a rice GBSS-binding protein that interacted with GBSSI and GBSSII in vitro and in vivo.The total starch and amylose contents in osgbp mutants were significantly lower than those of wild type in leaves and grains,resulting in reduced grain weight and quality.The carbohydrate-binding module 48(CBM48)domain present in the C-terminus of OsGBP is crucial for OsGBP binding to starch.In the osgbp mutant,the extent of GBSSI and GBSSII binding to starch in the leaf and endospermwas significantly lower than wild type.Our data suggest that OsGBP plays an important role in leaf and endosperm starch biosynthesis by mediating the binding of GBSS proteins to developing starch granules.This elucidation of the function of OsGBP enhances our understanding of the molecular basis of starch biosyn-thesis in rice and contributes information that can be potentially used for the genetic improvement of yield and grain quality.Wei Wang Xiangjin Wei Guiai Jiao Wenqiang Chen Yawen Wu Zhonghua Sheng Shikai Hu Lihong Xie Jiayu Wang Shaoqing Tang Peisong Hu 2020Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2020,62,7:12
