| 1 | Study of flow induced by sine wave and saw tooth plasma actuators显示文摘The effect of plasma actuator that uses saw-tooth or sine-wave shape electrodes on boundary layer flows is experimentally investigated.The measurement results are compared with a corresponding standard configuration (conventional design using two rectangular strip electrodes)-the actuator that produces a nearly two-dimensional horizontal wall jet upon actuation.PIV measurements are used to characterize the actuators in a quiescent chamber.Operating in a steady manner,the new actuators result in the formation of streamwise and spanwise vortices.That is to say,the new actuators render the plasma actuators inducing three-dimensional variations in the shear layer,offering significant flexibility in flow control.The affected flowfield with the new actuators is significantly larger than that with the conventional linear actuators.While the conventional linear actuators affect primarily the boundary layer flow on a scale of about 1 cm above the wall,the new actuators affect the near wall region at a significantly larger scale.This new design broadens the applicability and enhances the flow control effects and it is potentially a more efficient flow control device. | LIU ZhiFeng WANG LianZe FU Song | 2011 | Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2011,54,11: | 12 |
| 2 | Effects of different fertilizations on fruit quality,yield and soil fertility in field-grown kiwifruit orchard显示文摘Kiwifruit yield and quality and soil nutrients were investigated in a kiwifruit orchard after long-term fertilization to understand the relationship between kiwifruit growth and soil nutrition.Seven fertilization treatments with three replications were applied in a continuous four-year period,including no fertilizer(CK);phosphorus(P)and potassium(K)fertilizers(PK);N and K fertilizers(NK);N and P fertilizers(NP);N,P and K fertilizers(NPK);1.5 times of N,P and K fertilizers(1.5NPK);and chemical fertilizers plus swine manure(NPKM).Fertilization increased kiwifruit yield at the rate of 450 kg N/hm^(2),225 kg P2O5/hm^(2),300 kg K2O/hm^(2).The average yield decreased in a descending order for NPKM(44.6 t/hm^(2)),1.5NPK(42.6 t/hm^(2)),NPK(42.0 t/hm^(2)),NK(38.0 t/hm^(2)),NP(36.7 t/hm^(2)),PK(36.4 t/hm^(2))and CK(34.1 t/hm^(2)).The sugar to acid ratio(S:A)was the highest(10.9)in 2012,and the soluble sugar increased by 15.7%after four-year NPKM fertilization.The NPKM fertilization also significantly increased the vitamin C,soluble solid and firmness.The soil organic carbon contents at 0-20 cm,20-40 cm and 40-60 cm in depth under the NPKM treatment were 27%,29%and 139%higher than that of the CK treatment,respectively.The available N contents at 0-20 cm,20-40 cm and 40-60 cm in depth in the 1.5NPK treatment were 180%,114%and 133%higher than that in the CK treatment,respectively.Balanced fertilization with N,P,K and organic manure is important to soil fertility,which may increase yield and improve quality in field-grown kiwifruit orchard. | Zhao Zuoping Duan Min Yan Sha Liu Zhifeng Wang Qi Fu Jing Tong Yan’an | 2017 | International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2017,10,2: | 6 |
| 3 | Allotransplantation of adult spinal cord tissues after complete transected spinal cord injury: long-term survival and functional recovery in canines显示文摘Spinal cord injury(SCI), especially complete transected SCI, leads to loss of cells and extracellular matrix and functional impairments. In a previous study, we transplanted adult spinal cord tissues(aSCTs) to replace lost tissues and facilitate recovery in a rat SCI model. However, rodents display considerable differences from human patients in the scale, anatomy and functions of spinal cord systems, and responses after injury. Thus, use of a large animal SCI model is required to examine the repair efficiency of potential therapeutic approaches. In this study, we transplanted allogenic aSCTs from adult dogs to the lesion area of canines after complete transection of the thoracic spinal cord, and investigated the long-term cell survival and functional recovery. To enhance repair efficiency, a growth factor cocktail was added during aSCT transplantation, providing a favorable microenvironment. The results showed that transplantation of a SCTs, in particular with the addition of growth factors, significantly improves locomotor function restoration and increases the number of neurofilament-, microtubule-associated protein2-, 5-hydroxytryptamine-, choline acetyltransferase-and tyrosine hydroxylase-positive neurons in the lesion area at 6 months post-surgery. In addition, we demonstrated that donor neurons in a SCTs can survive for a long period after transplantation. | 5 | Hydrogen-assisted scalable preparation of ultrathin Pt shells onto surfactant-free and uniform Pd nanoparticles for highly efficient oxygen reduction reaction in practical fuel cells显示文摘Concentrating active Pt atoms in the outer layers of electrocatalysts is a very effective approach to greatly reduce the Pt loading without compromising the electrocatalytic performance and the total electrochemically active surface area(ECSA)for the oxygen reduction reaction(ORR)in hydrogen-based proton-exchange membrane fuel cells.Accordingly,a facile,low-cost,and hydrogen-assisted two-step method is developed in this work,to massively prepare carbon-supported uniform,small-sized,and surfactant-free Pd nanoparticles(NPs)with ultrathin~3-atomic-layer Pt shells(Pd@Pt_(3L) NPs/C).Comprehensive physicochemical characterizations,electrochemical analyses,fuel cell tests,and density functional theory calculations reveal that,benefiting from the ultrathin Pt-shell nanostructure as well as the resulting ligand and geometric effects,Pd@Pt_(3L) NPs/C exhibits not only significantly enhanced ECSA,electrocatalytic activity,and noble-metal(NM)utilization compared to commercial Pt/C,showing 81.24 m^(2)/gPt,0.710 mA/cm^(2),and 352/577 mA/mgNM/Pt in ECSA,area-,and NM-/Pt-mass-specific activity,respectively;but also a much better electrochemical stability during the 10,000-cycle accelerated degradation test.More importantly,the corresponding 25-cm^(2) H2-air/O_(2) fuel cell with the low cathodic Pt loading of~0.152 mgPt/cm^(2)geo achieves the high power density of 0.962/1.261 W/cm^(2)geo at the current density of only 1,600 mA/cm^(2)geo,which is much higher than that for the commercial Pt/C.This work not only develops a high-performance and practical Pt-based ORR electrocatalyst,but also provides a scalable preparation method for fabricating the ultrathin Pt-shell nanostructure,which can be further expanded to other metal shells for other energy-conversion applications. | Liuxuan Luo Cehuang Fu Aiming Wu Zechao Zhuang Fengjuan Zhu Fangling Jiang Shuiyun Shen Xiyang Cai Qi Kang Zhifeng Zheng Chenyi Hu Jiewei Yin Guofeng Xia Junliang Zhang | 2022 | Nano Research2022,15,3: | 2 |
