1Multilocular Cystic Renal Cell Carcinoma:A Series of 8 Cases and Review of the Literature显示文摘OBJECTIVE To study the clinical,pathologic and imaging features of multilocular cystic renal cell carcinoma(MCRCC)and to review the diagnosis and treatment of this subtype of renal cell carcinoma(RCC). METHODS The data from 8 cases(mean age,49.4;5 men and 3 women) who had been treated from 2004 to 2006,were reviewed retrospectively. Radiologic and pathologic documents were evaluated.For treatments,radi- cal nephrectomy was conducted in 4 patients,partial nephrectomy in 2 and laparoscopic nephrectomy in 2. RESULTS Postoperative pathological findings confirmed the diagnosis of MCRCC.The stage of al 8 cases was pT1.For pathologic grade,7 cases were G1 and 1 case was G2.Seven patients available for follow-up had sur- vived tumor-free during the mean time of 8 months. 2Senegenin promotes in vitro proliferation of human neural progenitor cells显示文摘Senegenin,an effective component of Polygala tenuifolia root extract,promotes proliferation and differentiation of neural progenitor cells in the hippocampus.However,the effects of senegenin on mesencephalon-derived neural progenitor cells remain poorly understood.Cells from a ventral mesencephalon neural progenitor cell line(ReNcell VM) were utilized as models for pharmaceutical screening.The effects of various senegenin concentrations on cell proliferation were analyzed,demonstrating that high senegenin concentrations(5,10,50,and 100 μmo/L),particularly 50 μmol/L,significantly promoted proliferation of ReNcell VM cells.In the mitogen-activated protein kinase signal transduction pathway,senegenin significantly increased phosphorylation levels of extracellular signal-regulated kinases.Moreover,cell proliferation was suppressed by extracellular signal-regulated kinase inhibitors.Results suggested that senegenin contributed to in vitro proliferation of human neural progenitor cells by upregulating phosphorylation of extracellular signal-regulated kinase.Shi, Fang Liang, Zhigang Guo, Zixuan Li, Ran Yu, Fen Zhang, Zhanjun Wang, Xuan Wang, Xiaomin 2011Neural Regeneration Research2011,6,3:5
3Near infrared light triggered nitric oxide releasing platform based on upconversion nanoparticles for synergistic therapy of cancer stem-like cells显示文摘Near infrared(NIR) light-driven nitric oxide(NO) release nano-platform based on upconversion nanoparticles(UCNPs) and light sensitive NO precursor Roussin's black salt(RBS) was fabricated to generate NO upon 808 nm irradiation. The application of 808 nm laser as the excitation source could achieve better penetration depth and avoid overheating problem. The combination of UCNPs and RBS could realize the on-demand release of NO at desired time and location by simply controlling the output of NIR laser.Cellular uptake results showed that more nanoparticles were internalized in cancer stem-like cells(CSCs)rather than non-CSCs. Therefore, a synergistic cancer therapy strategy to eradicate both CSCs and nonCSCs simultaneously was developed. Traditional chemo-drug could inhibit non-CSCs but has low killing efficiency in CSCs. However, we found that the combination of NO and chemotherapy could efficiently inhibit CSCs in bulk cells, including inhibiting mammosphere formation ability, decreasing CD44^+/CD24^- subpopulation and reducing tumorigenic ability. The mechanism studies confirmed that NO could not only induce apoptosis but also increase drug sensitivity by declining drug efflux in CSCs. 5Baicalin and jasminoidin effects on gene expression and compatibility in the hippocampus following focal cerebral ischemia显示文摘The compound traditional Chinese medicine Qingkailing,which is an ingredient used to treat cerebral ischemia,has been limited to studies concerning single genes or single pathways.Interactions and pharmacological mechanisms of the compound ingredients(baicalin and jasminoidin) remain poorly understood.In the present study,baicalin and jasminoidin,as well as the combination,were used to separately treat mouse models of cerebral ischemia.cDNA microarray analyses of 374 cerebral ischemia-related genes were utilized to determine changes in gene-expression profiles.Arraytrack 3.40 and Ingenuity Pathway Analysis(IPA) databases were utilized to analyze changes in gene molecular functions and network path functions.Baicalin or jasminoidin alone effectively reduced infarct area,and the combination resulted in significantly better outcomes.IPA showed inhibited cell apoptosis in the baicalin group and Ca2+ channel regulation in the jasminoidin group.The combination of baicalin and jasminoidin activated HTR3A and F5 expression,regulated Ca2+ channels,activated kappa light polypeptide gene enhancer inhibitor IKBKG in B cells to control IkB kinase/nuclear factor-kB cascade,suppressed activation of inflammatory cytokine interleukin-6 receptors and activated transduction of guanine-nucleotide-binding protein(G protein) signal.Results suggested that the combination of baicalin and jasminoidin resulted in similar molecular mechanisms to baicalin and jasminoidin alone.However,novel pharmacological actions of compatibility were detected,demonstrating significant protection against cerebral ischemia.Guo, Lin Meng, Fanyun Zhang, Guodong Zhao, Jing Zhang, Zhanjun Zhou, Caixiu Wang, Zhong 2011Neural Regeneration Research2011,6,3:2

9Antifertility Effects of Orally Administration of Low Dose Gossypol Acetic Acid Combined with Methyltestosterone Plus Ethinyl Estradiol on Male Rat显示文摘Objective To investigate the feasibility and optimal regimen of orally administration of low dose gossypol acetic acid(GA) combined with methyltestosterone(MT) plus ethinyl estradiol(EE) for contraception in males. Methods Wistar male rats were randomly assigned into four groups,20 in each group. Animals in group A or B were administered daily with 1% methyl cellulose or GA(12 mg/kg) suspended in 1% methyl cellulose,respectively. Rats in group C or D took firstly GA 12 mg/kg+MT 20 mg/kg+EE 0.1 mg/kg or MT 20 mg/kg+EE 0.1 mg/kg,in a suspension with 1% methyl cellulose,via gastric intubation. After the infertilities were initiated(6 weeks for group C,8 weeks for group D) ,GA was served alone while MT+EE were withdrawn in rats of groups C and D. The treatment was ceased after 18 weeks and some males from group C were permitted to recover. Fertility testing,10 males per group,was served for determining infertility or restoration of fertility in treated rats. Examinations of histology and biochemistry in treated rats were used to examine the morphologic influences on sperm,testis,epididymides and viscera,and biochemical changes in blood. The growth and development of F1 generation of the rats would also be tested in a series of behavioral tests. Results Ten rats from group C were infertile at week 6 after treatment,and the fulfilled infertility was maintained with low-dose GA(12 mg/kg) only daily. Six weeks after cessation of treatment,all of treated males recovered their fertility. However,8 of 10 rats from group D were in sterility at 6th week of treatment and all at 8th week oftreatment,but the infertility could not be kept with the similar dose GA alone later on. Moreover,no adverse effects were found in our present experiments. Conclusion Administration of oral low dose GA combined with MT and EE as loading dose could successfully induce infertility in short term,whereafter the efficacy could completely be maintained by similar low dose of GA alone for long term. 15A functional hydrogenase mimic that catalyzes robust H_(2) evolution spontaneously in aqueous environment显示文摘Although great progress has been made in improving hydrogen production,highly efficient catalysts,which are able to produce hydrogen in a fast and steady way at ambient temperature and pressure,are still in large demand.Here,we report a[NiCo]-based hydrogenase mimic,NiCo_(2)O_(4) nanozyme,that can catalyze robust hydrogen evolution spontaneously in water without external energy input at room temperature.This hydrogenase nanozyme facilitates water splitting reaction by forming a three-center Ni-OH-Co bond analogous to the[NiFe]-hydrogenase reaction by using aluminum as electron donor,and realizes hydrogen evolution with a high production rate of 915 L·h^(-1) per gram of nanozymes,which is hundreds of times higher than most of the natural hydrogenase or hydrogenase mimics.Furthermore,the NiCo_(2)O_(4) nanozyme can robustly disrupt the adhesive oxidized layer of aluminum and enable the full consumption of electrons from aluminum.In contrast to the often-expensive synthetic catalysts that rely on rare elements and consume high energy,we envision that this NiCo_(2)O_(4) nanozyme can potentially provide an upgrade for current hydrogen evolution,accelerate the development of scale-up hydrogen production,and generate a clean energy future.Ningning Song Zhanjun Guo Shuo Wang Yongli Li Yunpeng Liu Meishuai Zou Minmin Liang 2024Nano Research2024,17,5:0

17Highly sensitive nanozyme strip:An effective tool for forensic material evidence identification显示文摘During criminal case investigations,blood evidence tracing is critical for criminal investigation.However,the blood stains are often cleaned or covered up after the crime,resulting in trace residue and difficult tracking.Therefore,a highly sensitive and specific method for the rapid detection of human blood stains remains urgent.To solve this problem,we established a nanozyme-based strip for rapid detection of blood evidence with high sensitivity and specificity.To construct reliable nanozyme strips,we synthesized CoFe_(2)O_(4) nanozymes with high peroxidase-like activity by scaling up to gram level,which can be supplied for six million tests,and conjugated antibody as a detection probe in nanozyme strip.The developed CoFe_(2)O_(4) nanozyme strip can detect human hemoglobin(HGB)at a concentration as low as 1 ng/mL,which is 100 times lower than the commercially available colloidal gold strips(100 ng/mL).Moreover,this CoFe_(2)O_(4) nanozyme strip showed high generality on 12 substrates and high specificity to human HGB among 13 animal blood samples.Finally,we applied the developed CoFe_(2)O_(4) nanozyme strip to successfully detect blood stains in three real cases,where the current commercial colloidal gold strip failed to do.The results suggest that the CoFe_(2)O_(4) nanozyme strip can be used as an effective on-scene detection method for human blood stains,and can further be used as a long-term preserved material evidence for traceability inquiry.Juanji Hong Zhanjun Guo Dihan Duan Yi Zhang Xin Chen Yongjiu Li Zheng Tu Lei Feng Lei Chen Xiyun Yan Lizeng Gao Minmin Liang Demin Duan 2024Nano Research2024,17,3:0
18Multiscale structural design of MnO_(2)@GO superoxide dismutase nanozyme for protection against antioxidant damage显示文摘Rational design of metallic active sites and its microenvironment is critical for constructing superoxide dismutase(SOD)nanozymes.Here,we reported a novel SOD nanozyme design,with employing graphene oxide(GO)as the framework,andδ-MnO_(2)as the active sites,to mimic the natural Mn-SOD.This MnO_(2)@GO nanozyme exhibited multiscale laminated structures with honeycomb-like morphology,providing highly specific surface area for·O_(2)−adsorption and confined spaces for subsequent catalytic reactions.Thus,the nanozyme achieved superlative SOD-like catalytic performance with inhibition rate of 95.5%,which is 222.6%and 1605.4%amplification over GO and MnO_(2)nanoparticles,respectively.Additionally,such unique hierarchical structural design endows MnO_(2)@GO with catalytic specificity,which was not present in the individual component(GO or MnO_(2)).This multiscale structural design provides new strategies for developing highly active and specific SOD nanozymes.Yue Yu Yinuo Zhang Yu Wang Wenxing Chen Zhanjun Guo Ningning Song Minmin Liang 2023Nano Research2023,16,8:0
