2A multicenter retrospective cohort study of ketogenic diet therapy in 481 children with infantile spasms显示文摘Background:Ketogenic diet(KD)therapy is one of the main treatments for drug-resistant epilepsy.However,the KD therapy has been applied in only a small number of infantile spasm cases.In this large multicenter study,we investigated the efficacy of KD therapy in the treatment of infantile spasms.Methods:In this retrospective,multicenter cohort study,clinical data from main epilepsy centers were analyzed.Patients were classified into different groups according to age,type of drug and whether glucocorticoid was used before initiation of KD.Results:From October 2014 to March 2020,481 patients(308 males and 173 females)with infantile spasms were treated with the KD therapy.The age of the patients ranged from 2 months to 20 years,with a mean age of 1 year and 10 months.The number of anti-seizure medications(ASMs)used before KD initiation ranged 0-6,with a median of 3.In different time from initiation(1,3,6,and 12 months),the rates of seizure freedom after KD were 6.9,11.6;16.0 and 16.8%,respectively(x^(2)=27.1772,P<0.0001).There was a significant difference in the rate of seizure freedom between 3 months and 1 month(x^(2)=6.5498,P=0.0105)groups,and 6 months and 3 months(x^(2)=3.8478,P=0.0498)groups,but not between 12 months and 6 months(x^(2)=0.1212,P=0.7278)groups.The rates of effectiveness were 44.7;62.8,49.1 and 32.0%(x^(2)=93.2674,P<0.0001),respectively.The retention rates were 94.0,82.5,55.7 and 33.1%(x^(2)=483.7551,P<0.0001),correspondingly.The rate of effectiveness and the retention rate of KD were significantly different among the 1,3,6 and 12 months.KD treatment was the first choice in 25 patients(5.2%),55 patients(11.4%)started KD after the failure of the first ASM,158 patients(32.8%)started KD after the failure of the second ASM,157 patients(32.6%)started KD after the failure of the third drug,and 86 patients(17.9%)started KD after the failure of the fourth and more.The KD effect was not related to the number of ASMs used before KD startup(P>0.05).Two hundred and eighteen patients(45.3%)failed to respond to corticotropin or glucocorticoid before initiation.There was no significant difference in the effectiveness rate at different time points between the group of KD therapy after glucocorticoid failure and the group after non-hormone failure (x^(2)=0.8613,P=0.8348).The rate of adverse events of KD in 1,3,6,and 12 months after KD initiation were 22.3,21.7,16.8 and 6.9%,respectively.The adverse events mainly occurred during the first 3 months of KD,and the main adverse events were gastrointestinal disturbance and constipation.Conclusions:The efficacy of the KD treatment for infantile spasms was not affected by age,medication,and glucocorticoid use before initiation.KD is one of the effective treatments for infantile spasms.Yuanzhen Ye Dan Sun Hua Li Jianmin Zhong Rong Luo Baomin Li Dengna Zhu Dan Li Shaoping Huang Yuwu Jiang Nong Xiao Yucai Chen Yuqin Zhang Mei Yu Xiaoyun Shen Li Gao Guo Zheng Congmin Zhao Baoqiang Yuan Jianxiang Liao Jiong Qin CAAE KD group 2022Acta Epileptologica2022,5,1:2

9Effects of mode coupling between low-mode radiation flux asymmetry and intermediate-mode ablator roughness on ignition capsule implosions显示文摘The low-mode shell asymmetry and high-mode hot spot mixing appear to be the main reasons for the performance degradation of the National Ignition Facility(NIF)implosion experiments.The effects of the mode coupling between low-mode P2 radiation flux asymmetry and intermediate-mode L=24 capsule roughness on the implosion performance of ignition capsule are investigated by two-dimensional radiation hydrodynamic simulations.It is shown that the amplitudes of new modes generated by the mode coupling are in good agreement with the second-order mode coupling equation during the acceleration phase.The later flow field not only shows large areal density P2 asymmetry in the main fuel,but also generates large-amplitude spikes and bubbles.In the deceleration phase,the increasing mode coupling generates more new modes,and the perturbation spectrum on the hot spot boundary is mainly from the strong mode interactions rather than the initial perturbation conditions.The combination of the low-mode and high-mode perturbations breaks up the capsule shell,resulting in a significant reduction of the hot spot temperature and implosion performance.Jianfa Gu Zhensheng Dai Shiyang Zou Wenhua Ye Wudi Zheng Peijun Gu Shaoping Zhu 2017Matter and Radiation at Extremes2017,2,1:1

16Diverse foraging strategies of breeding Swinhoe's Storm-petrel in the productive marginal sea of the Northwest Pacific显示文摘Understanding the foraging behavior is essential for investigating seabird ecology and conservation,as well as monitoring the well-being of the marine environment.Breeding seabirds adopt diverse foraging strategies to maximize energy gains and cope with the intensified challenges of parenting and self-maintenance.Such tradeoff may stem from the heterogeneity of food resources and the constraints of central place foraging.Nevertheless,abundant marine productivity could alleviate the energy limitation for seabirds,resulting in a consistent foraging approach.Here,we investigated the foraging strategy during the breeding season of a cryptic small-sized seabird,Swinhoe’s Storm-petrel(Hydrobates monorhis),in the Yellow Sea,a productive marginal sea of the Northwest Pacific.Using GPS tracking,we evaluated habitat preference,quantified the foraging strategy,and tested if environmental conditions and individual traits influence foraging trips.We found that Swinhoe’s Storm-petrels preferred nearshore areas with shallow water and engaged in primarily short foraging trips.Distinctive southeastward and southwestward strategies emerged when combining trip metrics,including foraging direction,duration,and maximum distance.The bathymetry,proximity to the coastline,and sea surface temperature differed in two foraging strategies.Foraging strategies exhibited flexibility between individuals,potentially explained by wing morphology,in which longer-winged birds are more likely to embark on longer-distance foraging trips.These findings highlight the impact of environmental factors and individual traits on seabirds’foraging decisions in productive marginal sea ecosystems.Our study also provides valuable insights into the foraging ecology of this Asian endemic storm-petrel.Yachang Cheng Lei Zhu Lin Xue Shisheng Ma Nan Jia Shaoping Zang Zhihai Cao Jing Yuan Yang Liu 2024Avian Research2024,15,1:0
17Current-Induced Magnetic Switching in an L1_(0) FePt Single Layer with Large Perpendicular Anisotropy Through Spin–Orbit Torque显示文摘In this study,current-induced partial magnetization-based switching was realized through the spin–orbit torque(SOT)in single-layer L1_(0) FePt with a perpendicular anisotropy(K_(u⊥))of 1.19×10^(7) erg·cm^(-3)(1 erg·cm^(-3)=0.1 J·m^(-3)),and its corresponding SOT efficiency(βDL)was 8×10^(-6) Oe·(A·cm^(-2))^(-1)(1 Oe=79.57747 A·m^(-1)),which is several times higher than that of the traditional Ta/CoFeB/MgO structure reported in past work.The SOT in the FePt films originated from the structural inversion asymmetry in the FePt films since the dislocations and defects were inhomogeneously distributed within the samples.Furthermore,the FePt grown on MgO with a granular structure had a larger effective SOT field and effi-ciency than that grown on SrTiO_(3)(STO)with a continuous structure.The SOT efficiency was found to be considerably dependent on not only the sputtering temperature-induced chemical ordering but also the lattice mismatch-induced evolution of the microstructure.Our findings can provide a useful means of efficiently electrically controlling a magnetic bit that is highly thermally stable via SOT.Kaifeng Dong Chao Sun Laizhe Zhu Yiyi Jiao Ying Tao Xin Hu Ruofan Li Shuai Zhang Zhe Guo Shijiang Luo Xiaofei Yang Shaoping Li Long You 2022Engineering2022,8,5:0
18Kinetic study of transverse electron-scale interface instability in relativistic shear flows显示文摘Interfacial magnetic field structures induced by transverse electron-scale shear instability(mushroom instability)are found to be strongly associated with electron and ion dynamics,which in turn will influence the development of the instability itself.We find that high-frequency electron oscillations are excited normal to the shear interface.Also,on a larger time scale,the bulk of the ions are gradually separated under the influence of local magnetic fields,eventually reaching an equilibrium related to the initial shear conditions.Wepresent a theoretical model of this behavior.Such separation on the scale of the electron skin depth will prevent different ions from mixing and will thereafter restrain the growth of higher-order instabilities.We also analyze the role of electron thermal motion in the generation of the magnetic field,and we find an increase in the instability growth rate with increasing plasma temperature.These results have potential for providing a more realistic description of relativistic plasma flows.Peilin Yao Hongbo Cai Xinxin Yan Wenshuai Zhang Bao Du Jianmin Tian Enhao Zhang Xuewu Wang Shaoping Zhu 2020Matter and Radiation at Extremes2020,5,5:0
